It just occured to me (105,603) by Jamie from UK Yes I agree, it's a catchy song at first which I like, but it's not strong enough to stay around longer than it has. I've enjoyed the remix too, but like you said the original was already waning. Had the remix been the original version, then I'm sure it would have been number 1 and still lasted the same amount of time on the charts as the original has done. It just occured to me (105,598) by Shezz from Pk True. Mariah and Ariana should have collaborated on a new song. After a couple of listens the song did grow on me and I heard it on repeat a lot but I asked myself why I myself or others didn't like it more: First of all, it's not a new song. Even though Mariah adds a lot of layers to this song and her new verse, it's still 99% the same song that A) has been played out and B) people didn't love much to begin with. I didn't find Mariah's vocals as grating or out of place as some people did. If Mariah, Ariana and Max Martin put them through - this is the style of singing they obviously wanted from her. I don't believe this remix is tanking because of Mariah's vocals. This song was on its way out of the top 40 anyway. It will push it back to the top 15 for a week and of course the original will be credited as it has more streams/downloads I'm sure. The opposite was true for Big Energy. It was a breakout hit and steadily climbing the charts when the remix came out and it just pushed it more. That wad good timing, this was not. It is certainly not the disaster many people think it is. It is just another building block for MC 16 which I'm sure will have the lyrics, music and vocals for all of us. Yes, And, I Don't (105,563) by Jamie from UK I think this track is what it is, I like the song. I liked it when it was just Ariana. Having Mariah on it now singing up beat is music to my ears. Is it Mariah's best performance no, but is it really her worst? I'd rather have this over I Don't any day. I think we need to cut her some slack, she's never gonna blow us away as she once did, she's 54 this year and unfortunately has declining vocals which I'm sure she herself is very well aware of. I was actually quite happy with her vocals on this track, let's be honest we've heard worse over the last few years. For a long time now we've been asking for Mariah to get herself together, she's finally started to clean up her act, her public presence and persona is back up to where it should be, her PR is back to where it should be and she's getting lots of attention and respect from fellow artists. Yet we continue to dissect everything she does and bash her when she finally does something positive. I would love Mariah to have her full 90's vocals back and to some degree her personality, but unfortunately it's not gonna happen. Vocal decline has happened for various reasons and she suffered a major breakdown which has changed her as it would. Not forgetting she's been living this famous life for a long time now and as much as stars say they haven't changed. They always do over time one way or another, hey non famous people change over time believe it or not. Nobody is the same or doing the same things as they once did 25 plus years ago. But instead of tearing her down let's give her praise for still being here, making music and gracing us with her presence for nearly 34 years, I'd much rather have her still with us than not. If you noticed on the "baby you" lyric her alto tone shines through. During the Charmbracelet era she would have given us a breathy tone on that lyric. My most prized MC possession is my UK Love Takes Time single with Vanishing and You Need Me. MC looks so pretty on the cover. I don't know where I bought a UK CD single from. My guess is from a music store in the 90s that ordered import CDs. My item lost is not buying an special promo version CD of Forever and Forever live version. Seems odd that he co wrote her first three singles all going to number one. I may have forgotten something from the book, it's a while since I read it and I'm old lol. Was it the start of Tommy's control? Was also curious the other day, had Mariah not wanted to break out into R&B at the time would her marriage to Tommy have lasted longer? She clearly says in Petals that she really loved him. If he'd not been so controlling I wonder if they could have worked for longer. Relationships are complicated things and sometimes it's a case of two people being out the worst in each other but you can still truly love the person. Had they lasted longer in be interested to see what her next couple of albums would have been like, Glitter wouldn't have happened, whilst bipolar is generally inherited (I have it myself) she may not have had such a severe breakdown and maybe would not have as many issues now. There is a pattern here whereby Mariah's associates are worshipped until she parts way with them - and then they are fair game to be mocked and ridiculed. Even Walter - without whom her career might undoubtedly not have risen to the level it did - is now persona non grata in the world of the lambs. In hindsight, 'tis somewhat ironic that Mariah was "interviewed" by the Duchess of Sussex: both are completely incapable of maintaining a good relationship with their families and unable to keep real friends. I, for one, cannot celebrate that Mariah has broken up with Tanaka because he was sure as shit better for her than Nick "the Sperm Bank" Cannon who is as grotesque a stereotype as can be found. I hope Mariah has a decent, chart-worthy album ready to drop, with a polished roll-out and videos with significant dollar spent on them. If the label won't cough up the money, she would be wise to consider spending her own money on them. She needs a decent director to make classic videos like Honey, Always Be My Baby, It's Like That, Touch My Body or Obsessed. I say she get in touch with Brett Ratner again whose brief should be "Get Mariah to do more than try to be sexy every second".
