I really enjoyed that performance. Also, the purple dress is growing on me. I actually love it, except for the 80's shoulder bow. It covers her boobs, defines her waist, I love the back and the color. MOAIA, MCIIY, MIAMTEC, and #1s is an era so we're due for a new era soon. The Elusive/Barbie era is almost done.

In her defense, MC's songs are way harder to sing than Annie Lennox's.

The Jamaica dresses weren't what I expected someone of her caliber to wear, but they weren't completely horrible. I didn't hate the You're Mine video, it just needed more of a storyline. She looked really pretty though and the lip synching actually looked believable. I think Mariah would look great in something like what Taylor Swift wore at the Grammy's last night when she introduced Sam Smith. (Not sure if she wore that all night.)

I don't know what videos you're watching but she's terrible at lip synching even in videos. I wish she would just act some skit out in a video and not lip synch.

Now that I'm thinking about it, it seems like it would be better if she just had the same hairstyle every night so that it's easier to edit for the DVD. I hope that for one set (girl next door) she wears pants and a top that covers her boobs. Then for another set she can go really sexy because she's in great shape right now. I was looking at the purple dress she wore in Jamaica, and it was actually pretty and flattering. The 80's bow on the shoulder is what ruined it for me. I know the 80's are coming back but I prefer dresses that are timeless and are not going to make the concert look dated in 10 years. Somebody mentioned Bob Mackie on here a few days ago. If he's still designing she should go to him.

Like Mariah (49,935)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I bought the song Like Mariah the day the 5H album came out to support our girl. I hadn't had a chance to listen to it but I finally played it today and my son said, "I like that song." I asked, "Really, you do?" He said, "Well, I never heard it before right now, but yeah I l like it." It's not the type of music I normally listen to but I kind of like it too. The actual version sounds a lot better than the slowed down chipmunk version that's on YouTube. I actually watched the X Factor season they were on but the only song I remember them doing is Anything Can Happen. But yeah, the song Like Mariah is pretty cute and my 11 year old son even liked it. Good luck to them.

I was thinking about your idea and I liked it but thought that it would be difficult to pull off. Even if it can't be done in real life for the actual concert, it can at least be done for the DVD. She could style her hair according to different eras at each concert. For example, her hair could be curly for one concert, curly with the front straightened for another concert, the Honey remix video hairstyle (the one she wore with the maid outfit on Ellen) for another, and the long straight hair from ISIL for another. She can wear 4 dresses or outfits to go with each era: Ingénue Era (Mariah Carey, Emotions, Unplugged), Girl Next Door Era (Music Box, Merry Christmas, Daydream), Sex Symbol Era (Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter), Emancipated Era (Charmbracelet, Emancipation of Mimi, E=MC2). Personally I like the Ellen housekeeping hairstyle the best.

Ardis (49,925)
by Dove from USA

Ardis I'm guessing you're either young or a new fan because all of that is old news. It was very shocking when it first came out, because Mariah was marketed as "squeaky clean" in the beginning. (Fresh-faced, covered up, riding her horse, etc.) By now, we've all accepted it and she's even talked about it. Not a lot, because she's always said she didn't want for her personal life to be the focus of her career. For me, it makes me like her even more knowing she isn't perfect and didn't have the perfect life. We don't know the circumstances of why her brother took her to Studio 54. Just because she was there doesn't automatically mean she was using drugs. He was probably watching her the whole time. Maybe he was watching her, but had to go to work, so instead of leaving her alone he brought her. We don't know. He was also young and immature which means he probably wasn't making the best choices at the time. I think we've all made thoughtless choices when we were younger. The thing with Alison, when people are using certain drugs, they turn into sociopaths. Meaning they don't have empathy and only care about themselves. I'm guessing she divulged that information when she was high or in desperate need of a fix. I'm sure she was a prostitute before and didn't become one only to help Mariah pay for limo rides and clothes. But she's going to frame it that way to make Mariah feel guilty so that she can get money out of her. It doesn't mean that Alison is a horrible person, at her core she's probably good. But drugs turn people into Mr. Hyde. Mariah helped Allison's kids and also tried to help her. We can't force people to get better, though, because we each have free-will to choose our own destiny. If somebody chooses to self destruct, we can offer to help them, but if they reject our help, at some point we have to let them choose their own way. Sometimes we have to cut them off to save ourselves.

Last one. You should have included the clip because I don't think I've seen the one with the puppies. People who watch MTV are typically teens and young adults. That demographic also enjoys alcohol, looking good (lighting), puppies, and movies such as Mean Girls. She was more serious on shows targeting the more mature. I don't think she mentioned Mean Girls on Larry King. I agree with you on the rambling, I also wondered about that. I don't see anything wrong with her wanting special lighting, she knows her status and that people will be watching these clips for years to come. There is nothing wrong with putting our best foot forward. Love and light.

Stuck in a moment, trying to make fetch happen (49,866)
by Dove from USA
| |

One thing that would be radically different and unexpected would be if MC released a covers album. I know she's said she doesn't like doing covers, but she could change her mind. I gathered from reading comment sections the GP enjoys her voice but not the type of music she's been making. I know before I denied it because I got embarrassed, but I lied, I do want her to make a covers album. If anybody knows her, please pass on my list. I had posted a list before, with some of these songs, but I thought about it more and made some changes. (I have to at least put my dream out there.) These are the songs I want to hear sung by Mariah Carey, the best voice of our time. 01. Time - Pink Floyd 02. Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney 03. Pictures of You - The Cure 04. Stuck In a Moment - U2 05. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel 06. Let it Be - The Beatles 07. Here - Kari Jobe 08. Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys (change "she" to "you") 09. At My Most Beautiful - REM 10. Ordinary World - Duran Duran 11. Waltz (Better Than Fine)- Fiona Apple 12. Everything Is Sound - Jason Mraz 13. Three Little Birds - Bob Marley 14. Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World - Israel Kamakawiwo?ole 15. Smile - Nat King Cole 16. You and I - Stevie Wonder 17. We Are the Champions - Queen 18. Feeling Good - Nina Simone

Color Me Beautiful / MAC (49,831)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
When I was in 6th or 7th grade, I bought a book from the 80's called Color Me Beautiful at a garage sale. It was dated, even by the time I got it, but still had valuable advice that I've used ever since to help me choose flattering clothes for myself. The book is about how certain colors make us look our best. I'm not sure what season Mariah is, her golden tan tricks me into thinking she's an autumn, like Beyonce, but I think she's actually a winter because she looks best in cool winter colors: blue/red, pinks, white, blues, black, etc. I liked the idea that MimiL suggested in post (49,760) about teaming up with MAC to develop her own make up line, with colors created to be flattering to her. They could have Gwen Stefani do another type of winter, Beyonce do an autumn, and other models or celebrities do spring and summer. When I was in high school I used to look through magazines and find a model with my coloring and copy their make up. This way consumers could find the celebrity with their coloring and buy from their line. I don't wear make up every day but when I do, it's MAC. MimiL, I've also always wondered why Mariah has never been on the cover of Vogue.

It's hard to be the bearer of bad news. It's easy for posters on the internet to post whatever because we're anonymous. He actually put his face and name out there and risked the wrath of the lambs. Regardless of everything, everybody still loves Mariah Carey. I'm sure he knew what was coming when he posted it. I think it's brave. He is not exposing anything to the world that we don't already know. He isn't mocking her or trying to humiliate her, TMZ style. He was direct but kind. To me it seems like he's trying to wake her up and help her, because he knows what she can be, and she's so close to being that again. It's hard to be that friend, especially if you like and respect the person. I do wonder why he didn't reach out to her privately, but maybe it wouldn't have had as much of an impact. Thank you Nathan, for trying to wake up our girl. We love you Mariah, and still believe in you. Side note: We don't know what's going on. Shania Twain said on Oprah that she wasn't able to sing after her divorce. If the problem can be addressed, it should be.

Thank you. I like your posts too. When you said the thing about being selfish, I thought it was a jab, like saying we want to work her to the bone for our own selfish reasons. Thank you for clearing that up. I know I keep repeating myself but I want to put it out there again that I'll support Mariah in whatever she decides to do. Even though I only know her through her music and interviews, the person is more important and valuable than the artist and entertainer.
