Seriously Adam, your post gave me chills. It seems like you actually derive pleasure from seeing "karma" get her. And you write about her "pulling the wool over our eyes" as though she's the only entertainer in the industry who uses tricks to put on a good show. Kelly Price is a woman jealous that someone else was more successful than her, plain and simple.

I'm not sure if your post was partly directed at me or not, but I feel like it was because of the "downfall" line so I will respond. I don't tell people not to write their opinions, people can write whatever they want. If Mariah ever stumbles onto this fan site, maybe it's good for her to read those opinions too. Some comments feel harsh and insensitive to me and I want to counter those comments with my unconditional support of whatever she chooses to do with her life. That's why I write what I write. I don't tell myself and others that Mariah can do wrong, I see it for myself, I just have faith that she can fight through it and pull herself together. Mariah has been in bad situations because she's human. We've all experienced low points in our lives and careers and sometimes we don't cope with them in healthy ways. Usually we don't stay there though, and especially not if someone helps us. I know that when I've gone through tough stuff in my life I really appreciated when people were compassionate and told me "the truth" gently and with love. Like they were on my side. That's what I try to do for others. People are already "giving her the real" on here, the last few days that's mostly what it's been. Even though I do want more music, the reason I think it's a good idea for her to work is not coming from a selfish place in me. If she stopped making music today, I already have enough music from her to last me for the rest of my life. I would like for her to make at least one more album filled with hope, and out of this mess, but if it didn't happen, I would be okay with that too. The reason I want for her to work is because I think she needs it. I honestly don't think she's just doing it for the money. She knows herself and if she decided now wasn't the time for a residency, and she felt it was best for her to take a break for awhile, I would be fully supportive of that as well. I trust that she knows what's best for herself. Her legendary status will not die out. Elvis, Judy Garland, and countless others had sloppy performances at times, but when people look back, they remember and talk about the great performances. I don't believe Mariah will be giving sloppy performances in Vegas.

There are very few posts on this site from people who act like nothing is wrong, I would say 1% or less. There are people who haven't lost hope, like myself, but hope is not what's going to bring her down. Other people will not be her downfall because each person is responsible for their own destiny. If anything is toxic, it's your attitude of defeat and doom. I think cowardly is not having hope and instead choose the default, which is failure. Do you really think if Mariah fails this will be the end of her? After 25 years do you truly believe her legacy will be forever tarnished? People look back at the Glitter era and are endeared to her even more for not being perfect. I think it's cruel to tell her to retire when she obviously doesn't want to, or else she would have. Nobody is forcing her to do anything. It's obviously an outlet for her and maybe she needs us right now. I am choosing to be there for her, rain or shine. If she's not good enough for you, don't go see her. I assure you, when the time comes, plenty of people still will. The people who will be at her Vegas shows are the ones who were suppossed to be there.

Not really sure what you meant by the "shout out" comment. I don't need to be on any list or to get a shout out either, that's not why I come here. I just think it's polite to acknowledge when someone is directing a message at me instead of ignoring them. I say "thanks for the shout out" to acknowledge that I read it because I don't know what else to say.

by Dove from USA

I still believe Mariah will pull through and give us a spectacular show in Las Vegas. I'm still really excited to see her and I will go as many times as I can. One can never stop hoping. My vision is still beautiful, and even though everything is not perfect yet, I truly do see progress and things moving in the right direction. She looks great, she's singing live, her voice sounds good, she has energy and is moving more. She's giving us what we've been asking for. The things that need working out can be worked out, it's possible. Maybe she was upset because she heard about Whitney's daughter. It upset me and I didn't even know her.

Andrew, thanks for the shout out, but I've actually been accused of being one of the "delusional" overly-positive fans of this site. I'm actually guilty of going off on fans for being too negative on here.

Travon, thanks for the shout out. Thank you Edward. Mariah is in my top favorite people in the world and sometimes it hurts me to read negative things about her. But I know most of us here really are fans, otherwise we wouldn't waste our time and energy regularly coming on here and commenting. If Mariah is going through something deep, I truly hope somebody helps her. Mirage_Nunez, I liked your post (49,630) and could relate to a lot of what you wrote.

I agree that would help a ton. Britney's: For The Record and the E special she got before her residency really helped her IMO. And there hasn't been a good Mariah special in a while.

Vegas suggestions (49,624)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I still think Vegas is a good idea. I would rather she be busy, working, and around people a few times a week, over being home alone thinking too much. Judging from those clips, she still has her voice. My suggestions: 1) Mariah, if you think you may have a problem, get help. There is no shame in being imperfect. There is a chance that people may find out, and it could be embarrassing for you, but ultimately it will humanize you and make people love you even more. It's worth the risk. 2) Let go of some control and let other talented professionals worry about things such as costumes, the set, etc 3) Focus on your voice, the music, and performing. Mix up the arrangements to make them come alive for you again. If you're bored, we will be too. I want to hear you singing the whole song and getting lost in it, not talking in the middle of the song, or having the audience sing a big part. I love to hear what you have to say but wait until before or after songs, when you talk mid song it snaps the listener out of the nostalgic zone they want to get lost in. 4) If you're going to lip sync some songs, practice lip synching and record a new vocal track with your current voice. We recognize how your voice sounded during different eras and it takes away some of the magic. Or better yet, change the arrangements to where it feels comfortable to you and sing your songs live. All these things I'm saying are in love because I believe in you and I want to see succeeding and on top again.

I wanted to comment on your post about MC playing in Jamaica, and it being one of the worst countries in the world to be gay because of their intolerance and violence towards gays. I honestly don't think MC only cares about her her gay fandom to the extent of them supporting her career. I didn't know how bad it was over there until you mentioned it and I looked it up. She might have not known either. You do have a good point and I wanted to validate your post instead of just ignoring it because maybe it truly does bother you. I couldn't think of anything to say that wouldn't seem insensitive because I will never truly understand your plight. Hopefully MC or her manager (when she gets one) will read these comments and be more discriminating of where they book shows. A large portion of her fandom are gay or gay supporters and that should be taken into consideration when planning future projects.

Bullied (49,591)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I thought the same thing when I saw her, she looks like she's being bullied. Her face, body, her whole disposition seems timid and on the defense. I feel so sad for her and I wish I could hug her (especially when she was singing ABMB) and comfort her and let her know some of us will still love her no matter what and until the end. This is how Britney looked for a long time, especially when she was on the X-Factor. Like she's just waiting for someone to attack or belittle her. She is so strong to keep working through this, I seriously want to cry for her. I was thinking about it, trying to figure out who is bullying her, and it occurred to me that it's us, posters here and all over the internet. People can be so cruel sometimes and point out all her flaws without noticing the things that are going well or offering constructive suggestions. She must get curious and read them sometimes. People on this site are not so bad but some people out there are so cruel and just looking for an opportunity to pounce on her. And I changed my mind, I do like the white dress. Mariah I still love you and believe you can make it happen, look inside you and find the hero in you and overcome this. You are precious and worth it.

Jamaica attire (49,584)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
One of the articles said her hair was done in the beginning but didn't stay that way due to humidity. I didn't think the gowns were appropriate for the weather and agree that this was the perfect opportunity to wear something small and sexy to show off her new body. I didn't like the purple one, the white one was okay, and I kind of loved the green and black one. If it would have been open on the left side of her waist (Toni Braxton Unbreak My Heart video) It would have been glamorous and sexy in a different way than the usual (boobies). Her skin and make up looked great and so did her legs.

Thoughts on Jamaica (49,583)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I've watched all of the clips and overall I didn't think they were that bad. Fantasy was a mess but I think it looked worse to us because the camera was super close to her face. The people there probably didn't even notice she was lip syncing. She looked great, had a lot of energy and was actually moving. During Fantasy she looked genuinely panicked and you could tell there were equipment issues, she can lip Fantasy, she's done it before. She's looking, sounding, and performing a lot better than when she sang Meteorite at the WMA's last year, remember how stiff she was then? She's moving in the right direction and there is still time. I'm praying for you MC. I agree with everyone who said she needs a new team all around. I agree with Ardis that she should let Stacey and Clinton dress her. They will only put her in things that make her look like the queen she is and it's one less thing to worry about. She should hire the people who did Celine's show, they have experience working at the Colosseum and are probably out of work. Let them worry about it M. They can repurposed the set that's already there to save money without people even noticing.

I am amazed, thank you for noticing. Brian Wilson is a musical genius. He took a lot of drugs in his day (and is not the same man he once was) but his talent is still there and his music is timeless. Even recently he has composed classic masterpieces. What direction do you think MC should take?

New sound (49,491)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
I want for her next album to be completely unexpected and different than anything she's ever done before. I'm thinking she could do a whole album with the musical genius Brian Wilson of Beach Boy fame. Or Robert Smith from The Cure. Mariah's voice is like truffles, it can make anything taste amazing, but becomes magical when you add it to a dish worthy of the truffle. The music matters. I want to feel the lyrics and her voice but I also want to feel it in the music. The Beach Boys, The Cure, Pink Floyd, you can feel the mood of tthe songs even if you take the singing part out. If you add a gifted lyricist/vocalist like MC is sensory overload, in a good way.

Nanny Ardis Marcus (49,471)
by Dove from USA
| |
|
|
Ardis, even using your math, $14,000 per month minus the (average) $6,500 that she was already paid, is closer to $20,000 for three months, not $100,000. Also, nanny was probably living with them so she didn't need to pay for rent, utilities, living expenses, etc. Marcus, it did seem snobby when she snapped her fingers and said she fired nannies that way, especially because a lot of her fans are minorities who work those types of jobs, but the fact is, it's her right to keep firing until she finds the right person/people to help raise her kids. To me, Mariah seems to be a loyal employer, I think she's had the same publicist since before Glitter (the lady who snatched the microphone away in the infamous clip). If it were my sister or mom, I would be bummed out that she lost her job, but it happens, people get fired sometimes. I think I read MC hires a team of three nannies now who work shifts. On a side note: this story was even on the Spanish channel because my mom called me to ask me if I knew that my favorite singer doesn't give her help breaks or pay for overtime. Also, we fans know that MC says she doesn't know somebody when she doesn't want to talk about them, but other people may think she's crazy because she claims not to know who Luis Miguel is when there were pictures of them together all over the tabloids around the world when they dated.

by Dove from USA

I noticed in your post you wrote she worked for less than three months. Taking that into consideration, 100k+ damages seems like way too much money to compensate for unpaid overtime, especially if she was already being paid 6-7k a month and the job included room and board. Maybe it was the superstar nanny from Nanny 911 and that's why she's demanding so much. People should be compensated for their time but this lawsuit seems frivolous and ridiculous.

by Dove from USA

It happens to the best of us, people get busy and aren't thinking about whether or not the nanny had a break. Nanny should have spoken up sooner. MC knows whether or not she was really overworking them, if she was, just pay up and apologize; we live we learn. If it's not true, then she should fight it and don't let them get away with it. Sidenote: She should get a butler like in that show The Nanny who lives in the home and is on call.

Her music has never let me down and I love every one of her albums. The reason I hold TEOM in high regard is because the marketing was on point. She looked fantastic, seemed happy, and was everywhere. She looked great during E=MC2, and the album was also fantastic, but we hardly saw her. I didn't mind the lack of exposure/promotion if she was happy and enjoying life but if she was alone and depressed for a large part of that time, that annoys me. Memoirs is when it really started going down hill. Compare this interview to any from the TEOM era. Vocal fry and she's talking so slow. She seems depressed or medicated. I know she had a miscarriage, that could have been it, but the general public doesn't know that and they're going, "WTF?" I remember reading message boards during MOAIA era and people were going at her hard. MIAMTEC: the elusive era. She had a good excuse and I'm just thankful she released it. But now I'm hoping for a comeback.

Re: Industry tidbits (49,421) / my thoughts (49,428)
by Dove from USA

I think that's why she's doing the LV residency because she knows there's no money in album sales right now. I'm guessing the label is for marketing and to get her seen, heard, and back on top. Big record companies know how to do that type of stuff and have relationships with the right people. All of the biggest artists are signed to Sony. I think now we finally have a chance to beat The Beatles record for the most number 1 singles. After her contract is over (and she's on top again), she can go independent. By then it won't matter if she sells a lot because she'll have been at the pinnacle three times already. At that point it will probably be better if she only sells 50,000 (but makes more money) because by that time her kids will be older and she may want to live a normal life. Still writing and recording of course, writing her memoirs, etc. but without the fame. (I see her living in Connecticut for some reason, but maybe she's a New Yorker for life.) Side note: people have been talking about, and hoping MC would do a Vegas residency, since Celine started hers. It's a no-brainer, I'm sure they've offered her several times but the timing hasn't been right until now.
