This is basically only the second official live concert by Mariah released. I'm not sure how obvious it was back then, but listening to her 25 years after this concert one realizes that she is really one of the greatest voices to ever walk on this earth. In the Mix (90,860) by Billy from Greece What a great song. I'm hooked. I have it on replay. I love the groove and the fact that her voice sounds the way we recently heard it on the Caution tour, especially the new texture in her whistles. In fact, I think she kind of premiered the whistles from "In the Mix" in one of the "Emotions" performances on the European leg of the tour, can't remember which one. My only concern again is how well this song can be translated live. At the same time, I don't think people realize how intricate and creative are all the counter-melodies and different layers she has in songs such as this one. Obviously she likes this kind of approach, as I do. If only she can find a way to make it work live in a more dynamic way without falling in the trap of trying to simultaneously sing all the different blending parts. Either way, "In the Mix" is a total winner for me. Love it. (Thursday 19 September 2019; 22:08)
