Taylor is not for everyone and I get that. But I love her catalogue. This new version of Red is actually a re-recording of her original album. She had a huge legal battle with her old label and is in the process of recording all her old albums under her ownership. Ed has two collabs on this new version of Red: "Everything Has Changed" and "Run". You might enjoy those. Ed and Taylor are close friends.

I think your review is spot on Edward. I got the album for my Mom as an early Christmas present and for me it felt very disjointed and discombobulated. Mom also prefers her other albums over 30. While we wait for Mariah's new Christmas special to drop, "Red" and "=" are the albums I've been playing over Adele. Not shade 30 just isn't my thing.

Re: Luis Miguel series (98,948) (98,949) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada

Well he always gave off strange energy to me during his relationship with Mariah so nothing in the series was really shocking to me. I think when you reach their level of fame it can be super hard to maintain a relationship beyond the career. I was happy to see the series didn't take cheap shots at Mariah on purpose. If anything it made the breakup understandable. It was moving to watch Mariah's American Idol reaction again too, I really felt for her there.

Yes I don't agree with every endorsement but I certainly don't hate Mariah.

That's cool RJ I'm glad you liked it. I'm going to stop talking on the topic because I feel like some people are perceiving things as a freak out when it is really just a difference of opinion/preference. It doesn't matter anyway she has done the endorsement. Next.

I see your point and for the record I didn't like that for Aretha either. Of course she can do it and so can Mariah. Not liking or agreeing with specific endorsement is no different than not jiving with every song or music video. It doesn't make anyone a lesser fan.

Look if you support the Macdonald's deal power to you. It doesn't mater to me how many other celebrities have endorsed Macdonald's. There's something about it that doesn't sit well for me. I feel like she's earned the stripes of a legendary artist and I wish she'd be more decisive about which companies and product lines she represents with her brand. It doesn't mean I'll stop following what she does or supporting her music.

I love Mariah but McDonald's is a big no for me. I'm sad but agree with Eric, it is a new low. Especially when she has branded herself around Christmas Bitcoin and fast food isn't it.

It is not like her other Christmas music in my opinion and likely will reflect that by not doing much chart wise but I think the arrangement is really beautiful myself. ❤️

Mariah has made my Christmas (96,827) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
(Saturday 5 December 2020; 00:54)
The special was adorable start to finish. The camp was so much fun. If you can't be silly at Christmas there's something wrong. Mariah poked fun at herself and it was great. I've never watched an Apple production I have not been impressed with. This is top notch. I love the Oh Santa remix. I understand some won't like it, but I truly feel it was well done by all. J Hud brought her style. The Supremes thing is cute. Those whistle notes being in harmony were such a nice display of mutual respect. Life is short, enjoy it. Merry Christmas everyone.

Kelly Clarkson loves Mariah and has said many times she would never cover Mariah's AIWFCIY out of respect for the legacy of the song. It is like trying to sing White Christmas when you aren't Bing Crosby. Mariah is a must in my house for the holidays. She is by far the most played, but I love Christmas and I'm happy other artists create Holiday music. I think the trend currently is the recognition this has been a tough year. People will take a little joy anywhere they can.

I wasn't expecting anything. When stuff doesn't get released, there's usually a reason for that. I love the song, so it was nice to have some additional promo from the Daydream tour and era. I loved when she used to keep her hair curly and braid it too. Lol.

Me too Stacey. Yes maybe her vocals sound stronger on the Firecracker one, and I do like that it is playful. However for me it also sounds very busy musically. Gasp. I guess we are sinners.

In a recent WWHL aftershow interview Mariah said even though the situation with the Firecracker sample really upset her at the time, today she actually prefers the Cameo version. Clearly an unpopular opinion here.

Your posts are very insightful Bill. Unfortunately, over the years I feel like being hard on Mariah has become confused with what it means to be objective. There's been a lot of talk about healing since the book came out: Healing is not a one size fits all type of thing. It is highly personal. Even if she is not able to evolve passed the impact of her experiences beyond this point where she is now, that in itself doesn't make her a bad person. As you say, none of us are in her shoes With things like the Oprah interview, where the weight of her pain seems so alive, I can't help but want to see her free from that heaviness, but that really is not our call to make. I really do wish her the best and don't see myself ever not following her. I've been with her for everything. I can't say that about many people.

I have to agree. I’ve always liked the song but ever since the new album came out I have a deeper love for it. It has been on repeat a lot. I love it.
