About John from Italy:

Video showing what Mariah's was hearing (70,757) by John from Italy
Finally, this is (more or less) what Mariah was hearing. Judge for yourself. To me, it seems very difficult to sing all the parts that have those overwhelming drums, but quite easy to sing the bridge at least. I would point some things: at 4:16 do you think it was planned that Mariah was coming down the stairs by her own feet? I thought that the dancer, confused by her hesitation, picks her to avoid any danger of falling (by the way, I do not understand that massive shoes she insists to wear, even if they reduce her ability to move); at 4:30 (tell me if I’m wrong) she seems determined to walk off the stage prematurely and the dancers, after some second of uncertainty, start to join the feather fans as to hide her in a botched pseudo-conclusion; then, she reconsiders to return and they re-open the feathers and continue their routine. Congratulations to the dancers that kept smiling and supporting her during all this mess. She seemed like a goddess (and, if all would worked, the coreography really would put her in that light, rediming her recent, very "wordly" image – if you know what I mean). We got instead a sad goddess landed on earth deprived of all her powers; looking at the sky in search of an answers that did not come. During those minutes, she alredy known the price she would pay for this, but continued to smile. That smile, that melancholic smile was too much to be expressed in words. I felt very sad at 4:08, when she abruptly stops miming and starts staring into space as to alienate herself from that place and time, to the point that the dancer has to struggle to get her attention. I could only imagine her sadness and her state of stress in that moment – thrown in the arena, all by herself, required to do something that in that moment she was not capable to do, because of an insurmontable objective problem, or even because of childish obstination, or anger, or panic. Some other performers would have done better than her? Maybe. But at least she stayed until the end, and that is enough for me. I'm glad she did, because doing so, she (although unintentionally) allowed us to see again a glimpse of her real soul. The accident reveals, from anywhere you look, the inner frailty of the individual. We all can recognize ourselves in her. Ironically, in its infinity levels of interpretation, that non-performance is a piece of art. The art of being human, I would say.

Example of delay (Michael Bolton National Anthem) (70,694) by John from Italy
If the delay/reverb conditions were like these, I understand it was almost impossible for her to continue. If you notice, even the small parts of "Emotions" she tries to sing, are slightly out of time. But I wonder, ignorant as I am: coudn't she follow her "inner hear", i.e. singing for what she was hearing, and follow her own tempo, ignoring the echo? The resulting audio broadcasting would be awfully out of tempo, of course, but maybe - and I say maybe - people would have blamed the technicians for this, and not her. Or maybe could it have been worse? The world would have thought that now she can't sing to the beat anymore?

At least remove the pre-recorded whistles? (70,605) by John from Italy
The thing that bothers me more are the pre-recorded whistles. Why the sound engineers didn't mute the track with the whistles? They could put that track again if Mariah intended to restart singing. It has been carelessly revealed to the whole world the exact parts she usually lips synchs, breaking the magic (or revealing the imposture, if you prefer). However, I would really like to know what Mariah was hearing at that time - to understand if she was in a condition where nobody (not even the most consummate performer) would be able to perform at all, or if she, frightened by a small hearing problem, got caught by insecurity and simply gave up. It would be nice if she explained in technical terms what happened. She was astonishgly beautiful though.

Re: Warrior Butterfly, Infinity Enhanced (61,021) (61,047) by John from Italy
Hi, I was able to re-upload the mix on Soundcloud but had to transpose the original track 1 semitone higher and other things to bypass copyright infringement. I even changed the title, just to be sure. It is, of course, "more than just a made up dream" (cit. 2:50) haha.

Re: Warrior Butterfly from USA, Infinity Enhanced (61,021) by John from Italy
Hi, I did that mix, and by chance I read your message. Unfortunately, it was taken down due to copyright issues. If I will be able to reload it, on Soundcloud or somewhere else, I will be glad to tell you.

NYHotShotta, Infinity enhanced mix (52,928) by John from Italy
Usually I use various softwares (commercial and non), but for this particular track I only used a free software called Audacity, and you can do pretty much everything with it. For the long note I took the original note (filtered acapella) and then duplicated and joined several times. It is important to join the parts of the note correctly to make it proceed smoothly.

NYHotShotta (52,863) by John from Italy
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I made it myself using the original track plus the instrumental track (uploaded on Soundcloud a few days ago) plus a filtered acapella I made for the part with the overlapped vocals. It was fun, especially to build the very long note. It was like discovering a different song.

Re: Marcus, enhanced mix (52,811) by John from Italy
Hi Marcus, thank you. I cut the verses to get straight to the only part that I had changed (the last "chorus"/outro) to make you hear only an example of what I wanted to hear in the last part of the song. The first part would remain the same of the original, because there is not much to change there. Perhaps I will upload a full mix (with verses) for those of you interested to listen to the song in its entirety in my version. It would be an honor for me.

Re: Jon (52,779) by John from Italy
Thank you so much Jon. I tried to develop the strength that was missing in the original version. When I played back the mix for the first time, I couldn't believe it sounded so powerful and so "Mariah-like", even more than the original version. I don't know why they did that way. Maybe Mariah and her team wanted something clean and have tried to avoid too many overlappings.

Infinity enhanced mix (52,768) by John from Italy
When I listened to the song, I liked it but felt that something was missing, so I made a raw mix to obtain a product closer to my taste. It was not intended for public release, but after reading many negative comments I decided to share it with you because I think it shows the true potential of the vocals and the melodies. The repositioning of the chorus at the beginning and other things have been inspired by the great re-edit of Awodaly that some of you published here some days ago, but I was mainly interested in enhancing the last part with many countermelodies a la Mariah, long note and so on (you could skip to 0:51 to hear the part with major changes). If you don’t like the original song, give it a chance in this version. I hope you will find the beauty and the pathos that the song inherently possessed, only it was not quite explicit.
