About Gary from United Kingdom: Me. I Am A Mariah Fan.

Wow (53,543) by Gary from United Kingdom
Ok so I just caught the Jimmy Kimmel Live concert and the performance of VOL on 17th May at Vegas. I thought she did well on the Billboards but she eclipsed that on these two shows. Kimmel was completely live and amazing, yes she had back up singers but that is because Mariah at least double tracks all her vocals and usually even multiple vocals are layered on tracks. In the studio she even does all the backing vocals so in order to get that across on a live show she needs either a few backing singers/backing track to create the same melodies. She sang completely live on Kimmel and was almost flawless. The VOL performance on 17th May was fabulous, she really went for it on the money notes and it was almost as great as her 2005 VOL performance on an MTV show. I forget the name, it will come to me. It seems the media only air her "shaky" or "off" performances which every artist will have but from these recent shows I think we can safely say the vocie is back baby (not that she really went anywhere darlings).

Infinity / Billboards (53,487) by Gary from United Kingdom
I rushed out to get my copy of #1's to Infinity today, I know you only get the one extra track but I buy everything MC puts out and I am such a completist. Also the commentary MC provides for each track in the booklet is a must have along with some great new pics. I actually thought the Billboards performance was pretty satisfactory as I know she was really nervous with the recent bad performances etc. She did the a cappella run at the end of VOL really well. The overlap into Infinity could have been smoother but that might have been a timing issue and not her fault. I believe it was 100% live but some are saying parts were lipped, I couldn't spot any miming to be honest. The camera shot to JLo giving shade was hilarious, she only wishes she could pull off the VOL ending a cappella.

Las Vegas opening show (53,028) by Gary from United Kingdom
Ok so this is my first ever post. I am a massive MC fan but I'm not sure Vegas is going to benefit her after watching the clips available of the first show. She needs to accept and admit that she simply cannot sing exactly like she did 20-25 years ago. There were some great moments and she can clearly still sing many other singers under the table but there is a lot of exposure to the decline in her vocal dexterity, ability to perform runs etc. She seems to be able to use the whistle register pretty well but her voice cannot handle the old songs to the same degree. This is to be expected in some singers with age I guess, but then other singers like Cher for example seem to have still maintained their voice. Maybe it will improve as she "gets into her shows" but I'm worried as she is still very much inconsistent and avoids some of the big belts that she was known for. It's hard for me to critique her because I still think she is legendary and has an amazing out of this world voice but I do feel she is a bit delusional in the fact that she believes she can hit every note like she used to. As you can see from my avatar my fav song is her cover of IWTKWLI, let's hope she will get even better as the shows go on.
