About jaker20 from US: You Will Never Be MC

Re: #3 (100,095) (100,099) by jaker20 from US
Yes, Mariah could get credited next week, because the remix is new. Also, the remix is more radio friendly. The original has a lot of explicit lyrics even though a clean version exists, people know mostly the explicit version. So hopefully that helps the remix.

BE jumps to no.3 (100,080) by jaker20 from US
Mariah doesn't get credit because the remix version is getting lesser streams than the original. But it's close. So stream yall! Lol. So she could end up helping Latto go to no.1 (or no.2) without her getting credited, which is a shame. But now I'm also excited for the follow-up. Because honestly, Mariah has dozens of second-tier hits that can be remixed and mashed.

This album sounds so fresh even now, any song in this album is radio and chart ready.

Re: Boy (I Need You) (92,411) (92,429) by jaker20 from US
The best way to experience Mariah is creating your own playlists across multiple albums. Some albums flow well on its own, but we're talking 30 years of discography and many of the songs are classics on their own. And with such a diverse discography some songs will speak to you differently than how they were originally intended. I myself have 5 Mariah playlists and I grouped Boy I Need You with the mid to low tempo R&Bs which includes:
(Boy) I Need You
Breakdown
Clown
The Roof
X-Girlfriend
Loverboy (some say it's trash but I love it)
If We
Last Night A DJ
Ger Your Number
Say Somethin'

Re: Boy (I Need You) part 2 (92,404) (92,410) by jaker20 from US
Seriously an underrated pop genius. One of the best Mariah songs that didn't chart (along with Say Somethin'), in this case it didn't even chart. The video is cute too.

And the topic was R&R HOF, do you know how to read?

Re: Songwriters Hall of Fame (92,401) (92,407) by jaker20 from US
Licia, people were referring to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame previously. Do you know the difference?

Songwriter Hall of Fame (92,375) by jaker20 from US
Congrats Mimi. This is big. To me this is bigger than the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm sure she's more excited about this than yet another recognition as a singer. A legendendary singer and songwriter confirmed. This is the kind of recognition that she deserves. So happy for her.

Re: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (92,360) (92,363) by jaker20 from US
I hope they don't give it to her yet. She's still pretty active. That thing didn't help Janet one bit, it just makes artists look over the hill and completely done. I mean, Streisand, Sinatra, Garth Brooks, Celine are just a few who are non-inductees so I wouldn't put much importance on it. It would be like if MCArchives do a round robin voting and call it MC Archives Hall of Fame, meaning, it's just an opinion of another group of people, but with money because they can afford a show.

I love the tone of her voice here (92,256) by jaker20 from US
I wish she'd make songs within that range more. It reminds me of Underneath the Stars. I love the playful quality of voice in that range.

Re: New album (92,103) (92,118) by jaker20 from US
It is negative and morbid. She's not in retirement home. It's ageist and an insult to anyone working in their 50s and beyond, which makes your comment also unrealistic. 2 to 3 albums is you proposing she should retire in 5 to 10 years. With her level of career, and success that is highly unlikely. But you seem to suggest that's all she's capable of. Music and singing is her life and passion. That is what she is, and artists will do their passion as long as blood flows through their veins.

Again, the Streisand example. She slowed down for a while and who also got interested in other things. But that doesn't stop from delivering 15+ albums to this date and I'm sure she's got a lot more to give. Are you saying Mariah isn't capable of that? Mariah and her voice is adapting as we have seen in Caution. Just like everyone else on earth, we adapt with time and age.

Re: New album (92,069) (92,094) by jaker20 from US
"Mariah still has 2 or 3 more albums left in her." Seriously? That's kinda morbid. She's not 90 years old. Mariah will make great music for as long as she's alive and inspired. Paul McCartney is almost 80 and has made more than 10 albums since he turned 50. Streisand has released more than 15 studio albums, compilations, soundtracks, etc. since she turned 50. Mariah will outdo them both.

Another level of legend (92,040) by jaker20 from US
Her career is entering twilight zone level of legendary. She's gonna come after The Beatles I just know it.

Re: New music (91,855) (91,866) by jaker20 from US
Caution should have been released this time of the year, and it would have gotten more hype. Streaming platforms recommend same artists sometimes on playlists, but they didn't think of it that way.

There is this analogy of streams being water. She's got this massive flow of streams, in facts she's about to break streaming records again, but it falls into a cliff immediately after the holidays.

A new year's single this more celebratory would have been good for New Year's to pick up some of that attention. It should be something that is perfect to pick up on AIWFCIY and can be played throughout the year. A pop single like Katy Perry's Fireworks, or something. They tried that Auld Lang Syne but it's a misguided effort, because no one listens to such a song afterwards.

Frankly if she releases something outside of the holidays, she's basically back to square one. The build-up of attention to AIWFCIY got is unique this year, partly due to its 25th anniversary and tracking week aligning to good good amount of days, which fired up her marketing team. Next year is not guaranteed she'll peak again. I guess her team were also caught by surprise.

Today begins is first tracking week of 2020 (91,818) by jaker20 from US
She is no.1 on iTunes and streaming continues to go up. Hopefully it's strong enough to balance out the expected drop on the 26th, but with no strong competition, it's looking really good so far for her to snatch another iconic record: 1 no.1 in 4 decades.

Re: Mariah (19 No 1's) and Rihanna (14 No 1's) (91,780) (91,787) by jaker20 from US
If Mariah will collab I would rather with someone whose not established, like someone's career she can help launch with her as the main artist and the new talent as a feature, like a reverse Lil Nas X - Billy Ray Cyrus situation. Merely collabing with another diva won't cut it. Its always about the right song. That magic.

Re: Billboard week of 12.28 (91,743) (91,747) by jaker20 from US
You can say the same about its current chart position, which is for "week of December 21, 2019", but that's based on last week's sales and streams.
(Wednesday 18 December 2019; 14:24)
What's our opinion on collabs? (91,723) by jaker20 from US
Now that Mariah is at the cusp of beating the most legendary record of all, The Beatles, I'm sure many artists who have ignored her in the past would want to jump to her train and be part of history. Not just collabs with artists, but writers, and producers, etc. Personally I wouldn't want her to get collab no.1, but if she can get one for a quick 20th no.1, then she can save her solo for the 21sth no.1.

By the way, I'm glad Mimi didn't promote the Bieber duet of AIWFC or this would have been another Ed-Sheeran-Beyonce scenario where fans of both artists are claiming the success of the song. AIWFCIY is all Mariah through and through.

Re: 19th No 1 (91,718) (91,722) by jaker20 from US
Yeah this is the right time to release a hot new single. She is probably getting her creative juices flowing right about now, and when she's inspired, we know what can happen (see Emancipation).

Re: Caution (91,659) (91,681) by jaker20 from US
I agree. So much has changed in the last 10 years, in fact just in the last 5 years. Streaming has been very kind to Mariah because streaming is what the people want to hear, not what the industyr [sic] force us to hear. The truth is, artists can do gimmicks, expensive videos, sing big notes, do crazy viral stuff, but in the end, it always boils down to a great song. Mariah is proof of it. She makes great music. And if Caution is any proof, her best is yet to come.

We did it (91,678) by jaker20 from US
I can't believe. I love that MC was basically absent from the charts this decade and then hit us with the most legendary chart run in history. I can't wait for the headlines. Which will only drive more excitement to the song.
