Mariah looks happy (86,314) by TheOne from UK Mariah looks and acts like the Mariah from the late 90s. She's sounding mature, the right amount of playful. She's not going on tangents. She doesn't look uncomfortable in interviews. I feel like she's found herself again. The real Mariah seems to be present. I love seeing her in interviews atm. Caution-less (86,114) by TheOne from UK I must be honest in my opinion of the album. I think it's probably Mariah's worst album to date. Portrait aside, it feels like she recorded 9 tracks to compete for one spot on a different album, and instead let them all take centre stage on this album. The tracks, and the themes are repetitive. The songs lack melody. There are a few good moments, but not enough to hold a 10 track album together. I do like some of the lyrical work, but to me the album lacks any identity. The Caution theme does not flow throughout the album or indeed make much sense. Usually, Mariah throws a ballad or two in, but to just have Portrait is an insult to her legacy, and the brand that made her. Portrait is dull. The melodies are dull. The production is confused. The album is confused. I think the album should be re-named Confused. (Saturday 17 November 2018; 15:59)

Not to mention the fact that Mariah could belt as good as most back in the day too. She was angelic on one hand and a beast when she needed to be on the other. There's never been a singer like 90s Mariah and there never will be. Yes, we'll have people influenced by her or who can do things similar to or like she has done, but they can never, nor will ever be able to have the repertoire, skill, or talent of Mariah. There's only one Mariah Carey. Don't ever get it twisted. Whitney could blow. So can Chaka, Aretha, J Hud, Patti etc. They are all amazing singers, but Mariah at her best is in a league of her own. The incarceration of Mimi (84,422) by TheOne from UK Where is the voice? Where is the big lead single? Where has Mariah's mojo gone? We know Mariah is here, but is she actually present? I like GTFO, but I think With You is boring, and filler material. How has mustard charged for producing that? Where's the so called "hot" production? I'm confused. A high school student could produce that on a Casio keyboard. It seems that for the past 8 to 10, with each album, we've been told Mariah is not chasing trends. She's been writing non stop. She's producing music that will blow fans minds. She will surprise fans and the public. She's producing old school rnb tunes. In reality, we've received big standard, uninspired music, with lyrics that are trying so hard to be edgy and down, but instead make her look tired and desperate. I cringe when I hear some of the lyrics. I'm not even asking for 90s Mariah, where is TEOM Mariah? Where is Mimi? Can someone set her free please? (Saturday 6 October 2018; 10:28)

Re: JLo (83,444) (83,449) by TheOne from UK J.Lo is well liked, and it's not hard to see why, I do agree. I also agree that Mariah is mocked, and it's often her own fault. When people refer to J.Lo, I rarely see them refer to her talent. Whereas, with Mariah, despite the voice fading, people still have some respect for what was, especially for that first 10 years of her career. I just don't think like and respect are one and the same, but that's just my opinion. It's fine to disagree, which is also an unpopular opinion on this board lol. (Thursday 23 August 2018; 09:53)

If that's the case, you could argue that saying J.Lo has more respect than Mariah is an unfair statement. Mariah has five Grammies, and last time I checked, that was five more than J.Lo. However, I don't think it's unfair to make that claim. I'm merely responding and giving my opinion to that claim. There's nothing unfair about that. (Thursday 23 August 2018; 09:25)

Re: JLo (83,432) (83,442) by TheOne from UK J.Lo may have respect as a celebrity, for an Instagram, Kardashian generation, but make no mistake, Mariah's talent has far more respect than she does. Mariah may not be as relatable to some people, and indeed may not be as liked, but don't confuse being liked for garnering respect. The awards mentioned are not the industry bar for respect, and are token awards, given to someone in this instance, because they'll get likes on Instagram or YouTube. She may be popular, but respected, I'm not sure. She's rarely credited for her actual ability, and more for her dresses, or lack thereof these days. (Wednesday 22 August 2018; 17:58)
