I live this new song by Kelly Clarkson. I would love it if Mariah would create a song like this. Powerful vocals yet easier to sing. |

One thing that I did notice from 1990-1997 is that Tommy concealed her bi-racial identity in any way that he could. Go back and watch those early 90s performances and interviews, it was hard to tell during those years that MC was bi-racial at least for me. Tommy's oppressive behavior over MC really did something to her emotionally and mentally. MC was never the same woman after 1997. |

Oh, I totally agree that marrying Tommy undermined her credibility in the eyes of some people. I also agree that he had a positive impact on her career prior to their separation. I think Mariah also had a lot to do with her own success, but Tommy should be given the credit he is due. He was correct to steer her away from movies.
I wish she had opted not to marry him and instead only interacted with him in a professional capacity or maybe tried a bit harder post-1997 to be civil and professional. I think marrying him meant she had something to prove once they separated in 1997/98 and it resulted in her making a number of poor choices in the ensuing years just to be "anti-Tommy" rather than being "pro-Mariah". Backing out of the US leg of the "Butterfly" tour for that stupid movie with Chris Tucker (ugh), rushing the "Rainbow" album out the door, watering down the original concept for "Glitter", tacking way too many rappers onto songs on "Rainbow" and "Glitter", focusing too much on her image and not on her voice, etcetera. |

Female singers (102,567)

Why do female singers seemed to have various career setbacks and have a hard time telling people no more than male singers? From MC to Britney to Ariana to Adele to Toni Braxton, it has happened to them all. They just to seem to have more career problems after a fast ride to success. While male singers from Usher to Kem to Sam Smith to Ed Sherran have more of a balanced approach to their career success. Are female singers pushed harder to become successful at a faster pace than their male counterparts? Looking at Ariana's recent video post of her looking frail and not looking like she did 2 years ago prompted my post. She looks like she is just tired from recording and touring from the past 10 years. |

Just wondering (102,561)

(Saturday 15 April 2023; 22:34)
MC was a part of the writing session of Daryl Hall's Help Me Find A Way To Your Heart with Walter A. and Daryl Hall. I am just wondering if there is a duet of the song between MC and Daryl Hall in vault somewhere waiting to be dusted off. The title just sounds more like a duet than what is on his album Soul Alone. If it is, it would be nice to hear it one day. Who knows what can happen. I got my fingers crossed for We're Not Making Love Anymore with Michael Bolton will see the light of day. |

Mine and Me are the type of songs that MC should consider recording. Absolutely masterpieces that make you feel and understand how hard the past 3 years have been for Kelly Clarkson. June 23rd is the album release date and I see Grammy nods this year. Have you seen the tracklisting and song titles? Wow. |

Yes, I am bored. Maybe it is now time after all these years to sign with Warner Brothers (she chose EMI/Virgin 23 years ago) and get this new era started already. It is almost like she is making us wait on purpose. By the way, my Butterfly 25th Anniversary vinyl box came in the mail this past weekend. The packaging is her best yet. |

So Bill, I wasn't feeling your list. So I asked AI for ten titles that were one word in keeping in line with Emotions, Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow and Glitter. I still didn't like the list lol but I think Harmony is the best no? And she has already touched on a lot of these lol. Phoenix Radiance Serendipity Euphoria Enchantment Harmony Whimsy Mirage Infinity Nostalgia
We must really be bored lol. |

One cover to consider (102,525)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Tuesday 11 April 2023; 00:48)
MC has been really successful with covering famous hit songs. She has to cover a song that is gonna grab the world's attention. So, this one song came to my mind that would fit MC's current voice perfectly. The song is Rolls Royce's [sic] Love Don't Live Here Anymore. MC could put her own spin on it with a huge choir moment from Tye Tribbet and G.A. |

Just a thought (102,516)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Saturday 8 April 2023; 21:10)
Singer Melanie Fiona lost her voice some years ago. She could not sing for longer than 30 minutes without going hoarse. One particular doctor asked her if her life had been hard for the past couple of years with some heartbreak or disappointment. She told the doctor yes and he referred her to a Japanese reiki healer. Once she had three sessions with the healer, she was able to let go of all of the trauma that caused her voice problems. Maybe this is what has happened to MC's voice. She has experienced a lot of heartbreak and disappointment during her career especially during the years of 1998-2001, 2003-2005, 2008-2010, 2013-2015, and 2018-2022. |

Article: Track list revealed for Mariah's new album (102,511)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Saturday 8 April 2023; 12:30)
We can blame Walmart for TAOLG being scrapped. Someone at the retail giant leaked the album title and July 23, 2013 release date. Mariah was pissed and released MIAM less than a year later on May 23, 2014. I believe that Thirsty, $Money, Meteorite, YDKWTD, and Heavenly were recorded after the Wal-Mart leak of TAOLG. |

"The Art of Letting Go" was the name of the album, but then it morphed into MIAMTEC. The original concept was scrapped, she recorded new songs, discarded others and TAOLG was relegated to a bonus track. According to Nick, the original "The Art of Letting Go" was classic Mariah, with powerful ballads, he described it as Mariah going back to her roots, but that never happened. |

I can assure you we all here supported her by buying the album, but put your feet on the ground and realize that MIAM didn't connect with the general public. The constant pushbacks, the messy rollout, fans are not to blame. Yes, there were some great songs and vocal moments, but the album is depressing and overproduced. I bought one for me and gifted one, I bought the singles and remixes, but I have rarely listened to the album since its release. While Caution didn't have any vocal moments, it's far superior, in my humble opinion. If you don't grow with your fans, you lose them. Her remaining fans can make much difference at this point, don't put that on us. We've been here patiently waiting for five effing years for new music, we've been supporting any hyped-up half-cooked new songs she puts out every now and then. I know she has to breastfeed the little twins, but come on. We need another Caution but with some vocal moments and more tracks. |

Where are those songs that she claim to exist? Where are they? Heck, what is she even doing as an artist right now?
I'm glad she's happy and collecting coins during the holidays and barely doing anything else for the rest of the year, but it's sad she's barely doing anything anymore. She is lowkey lazy.
I mean Elton John is 20 years older than her and is barely singing on his collabs and people eat it up. Because you know why? Because that's what he does, he's an artist, he creates music, he collaborates, he has ideas that he puts into his art. He's not a wine merchant or selling liquor or perfume. Is Mariah trying to be Rihanna?
Mariah can literally just whisper throughout a song and do some creative samples of her hits, and it will give lambs something to stan and follow her with, and she can't even do that.
I mean her giving Its A Wrap some attention brought back Memoirs to the new gen that it's literally her top most streamed album right now. All she needs to do is something. The bar for her to do something, anything as a artist is so low, and she can't even do that. Heck, she can barely walk.
I'm so annoyed. |

I'll Be Loving U Long Time video (102,488)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Thursday 6 April 2023; 10:29)
Absolutely a great video and song from our MC. This era will always be one of her best. There were a lot of missteps that we will never no why happened during this era. Maybe we will find out why Migrate wasn't chosen as the 2nd single over the weaker song Bye Bye. Stay In Love Is a great song, but it lacked pop appeal for radio. I'm That Chick or For The Record should have been the 3rd single. One more note, critics panned this era and prompted one critic to say 4 years later that MC got the memo when she released MIAM. Maybe she has been secretly in the studio prepping her second comeback. |

I miss albums (102,473)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
(Wednesday 5 April 2023; 18:05)
I wish MC would jump on the EP trend that is happening right now. Newer artists like Coco Jones, Summer Walker, and Eric Bellinger are doing it and having great success. It would be perfect for MC to release a 7-track EP and have enormous success with it. Take for example, Coco Jones who has never released a "full album" in her career. Last year, she released her first major label EP on Def Jam Records. She is having enormous success with the deluxe edition of her EP with an additional 3 extra tracks. Her single, ICU is gaining radio airplay because of her performances on TV. She even made it onto a track on Babyface's Girls Night Out album. I wish MC would release an EP and just promote the heck out it on TV and see what happens. |

Edward, I get your single idea but it breaks my heart. I feel like an album wouldn't benefit her in this current music industry. But how I miss the anticipation. I miss it being a project. Having a theme. I know it's for the nostalgia but remember waiting outside of Sam Goody or Tower Records? Remember struggling to get that plastic tape off the top of the CD? We don't get liner notes and pictures anymore. It's just sad. Imagine if movies weren't a thing and you just got a scene at a time. Imagine if a baseball game was one inning and everyone went home. I feel like an album is like a novel. A page is special but you need the entire story. |

Steve, try again. I am more than just a follower. I am Mimi's #1 Lamb since I heard VOF on the radio in 1990. Young Lambs like you came along after 2002. I am critical of MC on here, but it is out of concern for MC and how her career has been on a downward spiral since 2013. 1990 Lambs want her to reset and give us what we all know she's capable of doing. |

Randy, that is great video compliation of MC's excuses. Watching it made realize that MC clearly has an identity self-image issue that has affected her ability to stop worrying about what people think about her. I can relate to this because I am extra sensitive about how people perceive me. Rosie assured her each time, but she still couldn't accept her sincere praises of her performances. Looking In, I Am Free, Close My Eyes, Outside, Fly Like A Bird, Camouflage, and Potrait all tell the story of MC's identity self-image issue. Losing her voice has only made it worse for MC. |

As tired as you are of us picking Mariah apart, we are tired of being told that we are not fans and we are evil people. Nobody's mad because MC doesn't have the same voice as 1990. Hell, she didn't even have the same voice in 1998. The real issue is the deception and the excuses. How did she go from saying publicly, :I would never lip sync" in the 90s to lip syncing most of her climaxes in 99 and beyond? And then not telling us what happened? I didn't want to do this on this board but a few years ago, I put together all of MCs excuses. In her own words. I don't ever argue without receipts. Oh and I still love MC. You can view the video here. |

I agree with you Lady B. This is partly why I rarely post and haven't been visiting the board as much these days. Life has been especially hard lately for so many people, including me, and the world often seems like it's on the brink. Mariah and her music have always been and always will be a beacon of light in my life and I've been needing that more than ever lately.
I consider myself extremely lucky and am beyond grateful that Mariah continues to provide me with utter joy, the sense of peace, and the much needed reminder that I'm not truly alone thanks to her music. I just don't see the point in picking someone apart, criticizing them and constantly expressing disappointment towards them when they have given me so much life. That's just me though. I dunno |

Whenever I hear this phrase used around me, "For the record", I always sing it back to the person and add "you oughta know". This is such a personal point of reference for me. No one understands what I am doing when I do that, but at this point in life I feel I have earned the right to do that. Needless to say, I have always loved this song. |

Does anyone else get the feeling that all these projects in the works that never see the light of day is really because she's stalling? I wonder if her voice is too far gone? Back in the 90's Mariah could bang out an album every year. Or could it be that she is scared of the commercial performance which is freezing her from putting anything out? She's been talking about the same three projects now for three years since 2020, and it's obvious nothing is coming this year. So that means it will be four years since we first heard about SUD or TBL. And next year will be six years since her last studio album. I personally don't mind if Caution is her last album, as it is that good, knowing full well that her next real studio album will probably be her last. |
