Kris Jenner is managing Kanye West and Travis Scott. She doesn't need to accompany the rappers anywhere. She does their day to day managing on her phone and laptop. She could do wonders for MC's career. Kris Jenner in her mama Kris voice would tell Mariah, "Mimi this is what we should do." "Here's the negative side of that if we do it."

Glad you see my point of view and I agree with your post, I definitely think they've got some dealings going in the background. Mariah is only seen when she wants to be seen and if she's being seen with Kim there's a reason behind it.

What are your thoughts on if Mariah is actually going to drop an album this year? I read a lot of mixed reactions where some people are convinced she is definitely dropping something while others feel like we won't see anything anytime soon. I know some people are hopeful for Mariah's version of "Someone's Ugly Daughter" or the jazz album she has been mentioning. To be honest I don't care much for either of the above, although if she does release it I'll be happy for the lambs that already wanted it. But personally I would love new more mainstream music from Mariah. She's also been looking absolutely stunning and we know Mariah feels most confident with public appearances and performances when she is feeling her best. So I hope we hear something soon. I would also be interested in The Butterfly Lounge documentary but at this point I think she dropped it. I would love for her to document her next album drop where we see her as a songwriter and what goes behind the scenes of recording an album, the videos etc and release it over on streaming along with the album release.

For a C-list manager who had "no business" managing the "music side" of Mariah's affairs, I would wonder who gets credit for the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour - a tour so popular and well-received it seems on a par with the Daydream Tour. Oh well, must have just fallen into Mariah's lap along with the Vegas residency and the book deal. Nothing to see here.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Mariah goes to Nobu with a Kardashian and reality-trash-fans are wetting their knickers in glee. It's a funny ole world.

At least she is not friends with Tiffany Haddish. We all know the mess she is in right now. When you have money you have to align yourself with others who will help elevate you to the next level. Maybe MC likes Kim because she has stability and a business like mind. Despite all that Ye has taken her through, she still has provided stability for her kids. I am sure MC has noticed how Kim has held her family together to help her stay grounded for Roc and Roe despite Nick's other children were in the news so much for the past two years. Kim Kardashian is pretty to look at. I think that she has gained lots elegance and sophisication since she has become older.

K (104,965)

So, popular trash is good but unpopular trash is bad? What a ghastly, sinister view of the show-business. You can labour on (which doesn't seem to be a struggle for you) and vociferate all you like about the star-power of the Kardashians. But accept it as an axiom that anyone with a braincell, a quantum of class, and a modicum of respect for Mariah's career, would wish that she stay far away from anything Kardashian.
Everyone else lacking a braincell can follow the example of somebody else who posts here whilst also hiding their real name, photo and location: have an opinion - just as long as it's the same as Mariah's opinion - and don't dare question her. What a blissful life it must be.
Mariah Carey needs to return to a level of sophistication that the Kardashians do not represent. I would rather her retire than stoop to conquer.
There's no "K" in "class".

You have to know there are different tiers of reality shows. Stella was through and through trash. Her content was cheap, and she had dragged Mariah's image down. You can't expect someone like Stella to land Mariah on covers of elite magazine or get elite brand deals. If the Kardashians were still considered trashy how are they on the A list to everything? How many other reality show stars get that level of fame? And maintain relevance close to almost two decades. Other than Mariah what is Stella's claim to fame? It's about the "money", it's about the connections/ power and what they do with it. Kim's everywhere, she's getting invited on freaking American Horror Story which has some of the best cast, same for SNL. Dolce and Gabbana created a whole line with Kim, something they have never done before. As hard as it to accept Kim K has left her C list image and climbed all the way up. She isn't on the Jersey Shore or Love Island type of reality star list. Stella is a C list reality star manager at best and that's what she'll always be. She had no business managing Mariah's affairs, not to mention being in charge of her music part of the business.

Robert you're honestly such a sweetheart and we can tell you only hope for the best for Mariah and same for me I really want her to shut everyone up again. Also I completely agree with what you said about single choices. E=MC2 roll out will forever haunt me. She was coming off the high off the most iconic album of the 2000s and had a banger like TMB (with a bomb video) only to then release "Bye Bye" and ISIL? When she had "Migrate" which not only charted with no promo, but was exactly the kind of music that was dominating the radio and clubs in 08, plus had T-Pain and he was huge during that era. Migrate would have been the older sister of "It's like that" - a feel good, this night is mine, I'm feeling myself kind of song. (In today's climate it would sound a bit dated but 08 it would be bomb.) Then "I'll be loving you long time" should have been a summer anthem with proper promo. Next she had "I'm that Chick" and "Side Effects" that could have been singles. I will forever wonder why LA Reid picked the other songs . Don't get me wrong Bye Bye is a good song I listen to it, it gets me emotional because I can relate it to losing my grandmom, but you've got an album full of bangers that are single worthy and you kill the momentum with Bye Bye. Jeez. They tried too hard to recreate the "fun record followed by a big ballad" approach of TEOM, instead they should have made it the year of Mariah where she dominated all seasons - TMB to start bring some heat to the winter months, Migrate to kick of Spring, IBLYLT with the Summer of Mariah takeover and then Side Effects for the fall. And maybe For the Record for Winter again? Maybe even Love Story. After that it's fair game, you want to close with Bye Bye go for it lol.

Maybe I am too much to suggest DeVon Frranklin for MC to date, but you have to admit there have been too many hiccups launching her albums since E=MC2. I just scratched my head everytime the wrong single was chosen or an album promotional plan was poorly executed. I want her back on top for MC16. I know deep down in my heart that MC is going to do MC, but I can't help suggest my plan for getting her back on top of the charts.

Or, imagine this, she should go back to dating when she's good and ready to and not when y'all think she should. Also, she should date the kind of person she wants to because no one here knows her well enough to say who she should and shouldn't date. Some of you have a lot of nerve to come here and dictate what she should and should not do. She's a human being, not your Barbie doll. She should also do the kind of music she wants to do, she's the artist after all, and feature rappers on every track of her new album if that's what her heart desires. I know my opinions are unpopular on this board so if someone doesn't like them they can scroll right past them like I do some of y'all.

The reintroduction of Mariah Carey (104,943)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I like the way L.A. Reid and Usher are promoting his new album, Coming Home, which is going to be releases on the same day as his Super Bowl LVIII Half-time performance. He is bringing his career back home by working with producers and songwriters he had worked with in the past and some new producers. Maybe MC needs to do something similar that will reintroduce her back to the pop and R&B charts. I say a reintroduction because MC is going need an album promotional plan that is going make MC16 stay on the minds of music lovers. She needs a new team to help her accomplish reintroducing her back to radio and the media. She is going to have to release two iHeart Music radio singles before the album's release with one being a huge ballad. MC16 should not have any rap features since MC is older now. MC will need to some type of huge album release event a week prior to the album's release. Maybe a 5-night performance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show could be a first for MC. No pre-recorded tracks or gimmicks during the performances should heard. There should be just raw soul stirring performances each night similar to her MTV Unplugged performances. Finally, I would like to see the album released on same day as a primetime interview special with Robin Roberts. An interview with Robin Roberts would be what MC needs to ensure MC16 is heard by new music listeners. If she does a traditional album release, MC16 will be dead upon arrival.

Do you think MC will ever date again? I worry about her being alone and not having someone in her life. DeVon Franklin would be the perfect man for MC since she has scaled back being this huge diva. He is a huge motivational speaker and he loves God. During the Christmas shows and in Aspen this December, I saw MC as a more mature woman just raising her children. Her diva persona seems to have fallen off her huge petsonality. Love has to be on her mind, though. She can't stay single forever. I hope that she starts dating again during the recording of MC16. My two cents during the start of several days of below freezing temperatures.

I love their chemistry on this song. I wonder why Columbia chose Patti over MC for the album version. Did Tommy think it was too soon for MC to have an official duet on another male's artist album? Their vocal chemistry may have been too much for him to hear before he could put that ring on her finger.

Have you seen the video for Yes, And? It reminds me of Pat Benetar's Love Is A Battlefield video. J Lo's Can't Get Enough and Dua Lipa's Houdini videos are similar with a huge dance production and a women empowerment theme. Maybe this is the trend for 2024. I don't think MC has ever a huge dance production video. No, Honey and Heartbreaker don't count.

Album ideas (104,915)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
MC should make her first true R&B jazz adult contemporary album to reach masses again. I was thinking today she is going to have to release an album with a cohesive group of live musicians who can give her a new sound so she can improvise live. Improvisation is her strength that no one else can do quite like MC. Remember the mop the floor song during one of the Christmas shows. Also, I believe MC16 is going to be the album that is going to be the true follow-up to Butterfly. I felt cheated and disappointed with Rainbow and Charmbracelet being released after the brillant Butterfly album. I know that I am not the only one who felt cheated and disappointed in 1999 and 2002.

Album ideas (104,902)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

Bill I love all your album ideas. I really wish we would get at least two of your ideas. My favourite would be of course the Jazz album "They call the wind Mariah". I've been listening to "Lullaby of Birdland" and "Nevertheless I'm in Love with you" on repeat. Mariah can sing almost every genre but she's really a hidden jazz lady. And her diva style suits it as well. But the other ideas are also great. I think almost every fan heart would be pleased too.

Her album roll out is such a carbon copy of Butterfly it's uncanny. Now she's adopting a hummingbird motif on her album and in her vinyl and album covers posing the same way MC did with hair and lighting like the epic Butterfly cover. She definitely has been studying MC and is doing the most. Unfortunately all she could hope for is emulating the looks because her music is grating.

Great post Mimi. I love Memoirs too. Memoirs might have performed better if it was released in October or November with H.A.T.E.U. released on the same day. Memoirs is gonna have its 15th anniversary this year and wow time flies. Might be an unpopular opinion but I love Memoirs through and through. It's a shame the album wasn't a huge success. It had so many amazing songs. Some of which were so different from Mariah's usual sound. UOOMF with Nicki should have been a hit, they both killed it on the song. Obsessed was so fun and fresh. I love the ballads. "More than just friends" should have been released as a single and same for BGK. I love "Ribbon" too and its unreleased remix. "Inseparable" was a cute moment too. Basically I think it's one of those albums where I would have the least of any skips. I also wish the "H.A.T.E.U" remix was released properly and the general public knew about it. Anyways wanted to show my love for Memoirs a great album which unfortunately fell through the cracks.

Ed Sherran [sic] collaboration (104,857)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I listened to Shivers today. When you hear an Ed Sherran song you know it's Ed Sherran 100%. I am just wondering how a Mariah Carey and Ed Sherran song would sound on the radio. I think that they could create a dance pop song that radio would be played in heavy rotation. My only reservation about suggesting a collaboration is that Ed Sherran's musical style may be too pop for MC's musical direction in 2024. She really hasn't recorded a true pop song since #Beautiful. However, he could suggest a melody and a chord that would inspire something in the style of Fantasy or Dreamlover to MC's liking.

How come nobody's commenting on this beautiful jazz cover she just performed? The video was from too far so I couldn't really tell but sounded like it was pre-recorded which I'm not mad at at all because it suited her current voice really well and got me excited for what is to come - hopefully she'll have a couple of jazz numbers. I was looking for the recent concert video of this song and found a Qatar concert video for it as well.
Happy New Year everybody - may we get MC16 soon and may it be everything we've wanted and more.
