Academy recognising Glitter (106,084)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

I actually think the reason why Mariah sounds so restricted on Charmbracelet had everything to do with Glitter and her breakdown. I think she felt the world really was tired of everything Mariah, especially her voice, many people back then complained that she was just shouting, not that this had anything to do with reality. Mariah was overexposed after the 90's, much like the risk Taylor Swift is taking now.
Charmbracelet shows a Mariah that is scared to annoy or pushing more people away, almost to the point of self extinction. She did exactly what people wanted her to, become a shadow of her self, almost a different artist singing wise. Well, we all know how that turned out, it's her most forgotten and least interesting album, only positive is that it felt really personal. I'm glad she came back in 2005 wanting nothing else than to be herself, showcasing every part of her voice. If you can sing like Mariah Carey, why would you ever try to disguise that?

Taking risks (106,082)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |

I love that Mariah is feeling herself. She is taking small risks personally that she said she would never do. Like being photographed from her "bad side", jumping on Ariana's remix and now sporting a red lip. I remember her saying multiple times she doesn't wear red lipstick because it doesn't suit her yet here we have her this year posting 2 photos wearing it. Glad to see she's taking over her insecurities one small thing at a time.

Mimi, your post made me listen to Glitter in its entirety today. Glitter is in MC's top 5 of vocally amazing work of art. So, what happened to her voice that she couldn't produced those same type of vocals on Charmbraclet? I don't think it had anything to do with her breakdown. Was it the lazy production on Charmbraclet? Was it the choice of producers who really didn't know how to give MC the best chords and arrangements?

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,072)
by Robert-Anthony from United States

Great news. I hope Mimi drops a collaboration album this fall. It makes perfect sense at stage in her career. All of the legends have done it from Lionel Richie to Barb[a]ra Streisand to Carlos Santana to Smokey Robinson. It would be a great prelude to her annual Christmas season reign.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,070)
by Shezz from Pk

Apparently "The Butterfly Lounge" has not been abandoned and features a host of collaborations from legends to the younger ones with some unexpected ones.
Lord only knows when any of these projects will see the light of day. I wish she had picked one project to focus on and not so many simultaneously.
According to the insider, a Shawn Mendes collaboration was recorded a year ago and she is working on something with Janet Jackson as well. Maybe it's a duets album. After so many commercially failed projects I'm sure she's doing something different this time. Mimi doesn't like to fail.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,069)
by Robert-Anthony from United States

That Beyonce and Miley duet should have been Mariah and Miley on a song. MC needs a collaborator whose voice is unlike hers just spark interest for a new album. I feel their voices would sound good on a song with the right melody, lyrics and producer. Maybe it will happen soon.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,064)

Is this list credible? Mariah at number 21 and Taylor Swift at number 43? Questions pops up in my head. Don't get me wrong, I love MC, but I believe that TS is more popular. Or did I read the list wrong? I am tired, so that might be an opportunity.

Beyonce likes to push the limits in other genres to see what she can get away with. Of course, the Beehive is going crazy over her new album. Did I purchase the CD on her website? Do I like at least three songs on the album? Do I think she will be nominated for the Grammy's Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year? The answer is yes to all three questions. And I really love the Miley Cyrus collaboration.

Mariah is out here looking like a mermaid. First of all I don't think I've ever seen her in this shade of blue. She looks great. But I wonder if she's doing a professional shoot. Because she's fully done up. Like usually in Mariah's vacation photos she has her natural girls and no makeup. Here she's full done hair and makeup and not only that she's wearing darker eye makeup. Plus she's in a gown.

Quick question (106,021)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I choose choice b. I think Mariah and Celine together would be a bigger moment because the two of them ruled the 90s with those huge ballads. Madonna and Mariah together would be an awkward moment since their music has been totally different. It's funny that I actually thought this week about a Madonna and Mariah duet, but quickly erased it from my mind because it would sound so bad.

Quick question (106,020)
by Norman from USA
| |
|
|
This is just for fun, okay? I was wondering what you guys thought would be the bigger pop culture moment: a) Mariah and Madonna having live on-camera moment together. (doesn't have to be a duet. It could be something like Whitney and Mimi did as presenters, or a PSA, or cameo in the other person's video.) Or b) Mariah and Celine doing something similar.
I only mean it as a Zeitgeist moment to move the needle. It's not about liking or disliking anyone or whatever they do. Simply in terms of a moment. Thoughts?

An AMA's Legends special (106,017)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I would like the AMA's to do a primetime special like the Grammys Salutes called the AMA's Legends. You know who should be their first legend to be celebrated. MC should be the first legend this year. It should be executive produced by Lee Daniels, L.A. Reid, and Debbie Allen. They should tell MC's story through archive interviews, presenters, dancers and guest performers during the 60 minutes special. Joseph Kahn should be the director.

Obsessed remixes (105,991)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I have always thought the Obsessed remixes that made up the Memoirs 2CD set was a brilliant marketing move. The Obsessed club version was #1 on the Billboard Dance and the Dance/Mix Show Airplay charts. It was even included on multiple dance compilation CDs in 2009 and 2010. I feel that the huge success of Obsessed kind of started the talk about the Angel's Advocate remix album. Also, the Obsessed remix CD was MC's last physical release remix CD. Every remix release was digital after that release. I hope that she will include something like that on MC16.
