New music announcement coming up (105,244)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|

Radio would eat it up. Cardi B always makes it to Top 10 and higher on the Hot 100. Latto has been grabbed by I Don't Know Her and Usher for their new albums. So, why not Cardi B this time? Cardi B definitely gives you memorable lines when she delivers her bars. Could this be the sample of one her hits being used that was mentioned few weeks? Could it be a fun breakup song poking fun at men who don't live up to their expectations? Could this be the London On Da Beat production that I have been waiting on? MC is definitely working on her return to the charts very quietly.

According to insiders, Mariah is going to announce new music very soon. She has an upbeat pop/r&b song with Cardi B that is a strong contender for the first single.

Moody Mariah Nights (105,237)

Great post Mimi. I think we are in store for something special later this year. I believe she is watching and listening to what others are releasing the first half of the year to perfect what will probably be her most anticipated album since TEOM. I don't want her rush now to just put out what she has recorded. Take your time, Mimi.

Moody Mariah Nights (105,233)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I'm in a moody Mariah Nights playlist kind of state of mind today haha and I just wanted to come here and express how much I'm in awe of the artist that is Mariah. She definitely does not get credit. Yes she's known for her vocals but Mariah's pen game, her melodies, her hooks, her lyrics, her "ahead of time" musical visions is just otherworldly and genius. The way she uses her voice too should be studied, how she uses her whistles so creatively, how she layers her background vocals, how she creates a wall of music with her voice. People are always in awe of Taylor Swift and how she's a great songwriter and while I agree Taylor is definitely good but Mariah is a thousand times better and just doesn't get enough credit for it. Mariah, if you're reading this, thank you for being the soundtrack to our lives.
Also my playlist has been all over tonight hahah but it includes but is not limited to The Roof, Babydoll, Love Story (the aye baybay always gets me), Side Effects, Thanx 4 Nothing, GTFO, Crybaby (ok so it's 5 am and I still can't sleep took some medicines but it's not working , yussss queen), Don't Forget About Us, My All, Breakdown, Betcha Gon Know.

Tributes (105,232)

These award show producers are catering to an older audience and Grammy donors who don't appreciate MC's versatility after 1993. The powers to be are still sour about R&B/Hip Hop influence that she started with Daydream.

Tributes (105,230)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Don't hate me but I think all the tributes MC gets are just so meh. Why can't we ever get a relevant artist to do the tribute, she's THE Mariah Carey. Also why do people limit the tribute songs to only the first 3-5 years of her career. She's got so many hits I don't get why it's always VOL, Make it Happen etc.

Independent route? (105,223)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
Usher timed his album release around his Superbowl performance. He released his promo single, GLU in early 2023. Then he dropped the official first single, Good Good last summer. This strategy worked for promoting his new album Coming Home. MC needs something similar like headlining a huge outdoor summer concert event along with a summer promo single to garner radio airplay this summer. MC is going to need a radio and Spotify plan to be reintroduce to radio programmers.

Independent route? (105,208)
by RJJ12 from USA
| |
|
|
Usher has a new album coming out and is performing at the Super Bowl this year and using the promo of the performance to launch his new project. This will be his first project as an independent artist. I'm wondering if Mariah is contemplating doing the same thing and really taking her time to have several projects ready to go. The only issue is that major radio formats don't always play veteran artists past the age of 5. We will never really know if Caution would have been a hit as Epic only sent her singles to Adult AC and Urban AC radio formats instead of top 40 stations. Those small niche markets are where singles go to die a slow death without any hope of climbing. As an independent artist she can decide the singles and what radio formats she would send them to. Would a top 40 station play a new Mariah song? Maybe if it's uptempo but no present day Mariah ballad or mid tempo will get the time of day with major radio formats. Maybe her team can cut a deal with these stations in exchange for Christmas concert giveaways since her Christmas tours keep getting bigger and bigger. There has to be a way they can leverage her Christmas relevancy and dominance to help launch a new record and get it to chart well. Even at her commercial peak Mariah always got polarizing opinions, but it seems that present day Mariah is getting more love and acceptance than ever before.

Ariana is emulating MC so much in her newly released Instagram video playing 9 tracks from Eternal Sunshine to her team at Republic. It seems like she has moved back to the pop side by working with Max Martin. Unfortunately, I can't understand why she chose Max Martin though. I have never been a fan of his production. Eternal Sunshine is out March 8th. Freaking, pull it together MC quick and fast. Ariana just may rule 2024.

Don't hate the player, hate the game (105,199)
by Edward from USA

Ariana Grande's "Yes, And" debuted at #1. Out of her 8 #1's, 6 of them have debuted at number one, she now has a tie with Taylor Swift. Drake is behind them with 5. I've been wondering why it is so easy to debut at number one these days, I dug a little and now I understand. Similarly to what they accused Mariah and others of doing back in the 90's with remixes and discounted singles, now the trend is releasing six or seven variation of the same song and discounting the variations. These songs are not remixes technically, but different variations. Besides the original they release longer versions, radio edits, sped up versions, instrumentals and the list goes on. Mariah was heavily critized for similar tactics back in the day, but I actually prefer a great quality remix even if it doesn't resemble the original than this new trend. I think it is kind of lazy. Billboard will eventually crack on these tactics, but maybe by then Ariana, Taylor and Drake will have already surpassed Mariah as the solo artist with the most #1 hits. I don't hate the players, they're just taking advantage of the rules of the game just like Mariah did, but I hate the fact that now a number one doesn't really mean anything. As for Ariana's "Yes, And", I love it. I've been working out to it, I thought she had lost it, but she still has the Midas touch Mariah used to have.

Daydream 30 is coming up in 2025. I know she has some leftover tracks in the vault. I would love for When I Saw You to be recorded as duet with Nick Jonas or Zayn. I would be happy for extended versions on Long Ago and Melt Away. And I would love for David Morales to rework the Daydream interlude with new vocals and percussions from Sheila E.

Tacking on two Memoirs songs to MIAMTEC (105,192)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |
|
|
I think MC needed two songs for the deluxe edition that was going to be sold at Target. She didn't have any extra songs from the recording sessions. MC probably thought what two songs with high profile features from the Angels Advocate remix album would make fans buy the deluxe edition. So, we got R. Kelly and Mary J. Blige. My question is why did she include America the Beautiful? Maybe she was trying to be festive for Memorial Day with it being included on the album. Let's hope MC16 has some brillant decisions.

Does anyone ever wonder what the purpose of putting the two songs from Memoirs (Betcha, Its a Wrap) on The Elusive Chanteuse deluxe edition? Was is it strictly because those two fit the theme of the album or was she actually going to put the two singles from the cancelled Angels Advocate project (UOMF, AC - which would've made more sense since they had music videos and some success), but then decided against that idea once Nicki Minaj became such a brat?

Prized MC possession vs. item lost (105,187)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |

I got to thinking today of my most prized MC possession and an item that I lost. My most prized MC possession is my UK Love Takes Time single with Vanishing and You Need Me. MC looks so pretty on the cover. I don't know where I bought a UK CD single from. My guess is from a music store in the 90s that ordered import CDs. My item lost is not buying an special promo version CD of Forever and Forever live version. I don't why I left out of that music store without that CD single in my hand. The owner priced it for $4. It is worth $100 dollars now on eBay.

Who is Caution about? (105,172)
by Robert-Anthony from United States
| |

Both of them were inexperinced with the ends and outs of the music industry trying to pursue their dreams. It's a shame that we never experienced another Love Takes Time ballad. I believe Ben's compositions with MC gave us more of Mariah's distinct melodies than Walter A's songs did. Walter A's songs with other artists always had that a small element of melody and instrumentation of songs that he composed with Mariah. For example, Leona Lewis' Here I Am. MC sure does have a long list of songwriters, producers, singers, and rappers that we will never experience a repeat collaboration.

I don't think that's the case. Their parting of ways was due to a contract they signed before she was signed to Colombia. Mariah had agreed to split not only the songwriting royalties from the songs, but half of her earnings as well, something she never thought twice about while writing songs in his father's basement.
When the time came to write music for Emotions, Sony officials made it clear he would only be paid the fair amount given to co-writers on an album. Ben didn't like it and filed a lawsuit against Sony, claiming that under contract, he would be entitled to work with Carey, as well as reap extra benefits. A judge settled that Margulies was to earn ten percent of Carey's direct earnings from her record sales, not including an income from any other ventures, but at that point their relationship was ruined.
In an interview, back then, Mariah stated: "I signed blindly. Later, I tried to make it right so we could continue, but he wouldn't accept it."

Best concert attendance stats in 25 years (105,163)
by Robert-Anthony from United States

Why do I feel MC is the type of artist that has to have a new album out in order to announce a 27 city tour to support it? Just thinking hypothectically that what if her album is completed in late March and she tours the U.S. in April and May before the album drops in late August. Would that fly with Lambs? Or do we want her to stick to her same old formula of dropping the album and tour 6 weeks later? I thought about how JT always switches things up all the time when he is getting ready to drop an album. Who knows maybe JT will drop his new album on April 26th, three days before his world tours kicks off in Vancouver on April 29th. He hasn't made any album release announcement yet. JT has just created buzz for a new album to get his fans ready for his new album. Also, he caused Britney's fans to sabotage his first single, Selfish trajectory on the Hot 100. He sure has angered a lot of other female artist's fans like Britney, Janet, and MC during his solo career, but people still love his music.
