To keep I would pick Glitter, Butterfly and The Emancipation of Mimi. This so tough because I love them all for different reasons.

Michael Jackson collab (112,179)

I remember the 25th Anniversary of Thriller, I ran to Target the day it come out to buy it. I still have it but haven't played it in a while. It is such a good album. Thriller would've been my first pick too for a collaboration. I think MJ has quite a few songs that would be considered classic, not just one or two.

Michael Jackson collab (112,170)
by Lambi from USA

Mariah has so many choreographable songs that she can't dance to either, though. LMAO. But yes, I've thought deeply about this too. In 2008, MJ released the Thriller 25th Anniversary Edition, which included remixes featuring various artists. I bet she was originally intended to be part of it. The remixed tracks were:
• The Girl Is Mine - will.i.am • P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) - will.i.am • Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' - Akon • Beat It - Fergie • Billie Jean - Kanye West
The Girl Is Mine was already a duet with Paul McCartney, so by process of elimination, that would've left her with either: Baby Be Mine, Thriller, Human Nature, or The Lady in My Life.
Only Human Nature and Thriller are true classics (Mariah said it's one of his classics). For more context clues, she mentioned they were doing something "really huge" for him and that their collab would sort of "usurp" the situation."Usurp" means to lessen the importance of something, so I'd have to go with Thriller. It's the bigger hit and would make more sense that they'd want to protect it.
Honestly though, I think they just didn't want Mariah involved. How were the other 4 artists allowed, but not her? Michael handpicked the biggest stars from 2005-08. Sony probably resented that she was having massive success with Def Jam at the time. In my opinion, Thriller will always belong to Michael, regardless of how incredible Mariah's ad-libs and background vocals might have been. Just like how literally no one even knows about the other remixes.
And before my haters come for me, these are just my opinions based on what we can gather. Take a chill pill. I'm allowed to have them.

Serious question. What song do we think MC recorded with MJ? I can't picture MC doing the Thriller choreography. That would be hilarious though. I've always loved You Are Not Alone and it would suit her. I miss Michael, he should be here with us.

My feelings exactly. HFIA is much better than Caution. Easiest to listen to from start to finish. One of her most lyrically honest efforts. Kids now will worship anything except true talent. Mariah is a has been for most of them. They simply can't relate. We grew up with her music, most of us did anyway.

Absolutely. All the long time fans/lambs did buy her new music. So it's not because of "us" that it sold weaker than "Caution". Casual listeners don't care at all for her nowadays, that's it. The teens have there own "stars", so what's left are her long time fans. I also like "HFIA" better than "Caution". Yeah, maybe a gospel or jazz album could generate more listeners because it's a special genre.

Patricia Carey (112,097)
by Libra Lamb from USA

I wish Mariah would write a song about her mother. I know it's a lot to ask. She would be bearing her soul and would and to be the human version of herself, but I think it would be cathartic and offer her fans, the lambily, an introspective look into her mourning. Too soon? Maybe. But we got Sunflowers for Alfred Roy. Maybe we can a get a song for Patricia too. It certainly would be the most relatable topic. I'm not saying exploit her loss, but offer a window into her grief.

I would say that the "lambs" are probably the only ones still supporting her and her releases. The general public moved on a long time ago. I buy the singles and cds but I never play them, it's easier for me to stream, and so I do, almost daily. Lambs getting the blame and the hate for no reason. We are the only ones who care.

I do because the "Lambs" never support or show Mariah the love, ever. I would say, in my opinion that "Here For It All" is better than "Caution", yet, it's now her worst selling album for this time period to date.

Hi Lambily (112,033)
by Gabrielle Demetriou from UK
| |
|
|
I wanted to share something that's lived in my heart for years - the day I met Mariah Carey in Manchester on March 18, 2016.
I was heavily pregnant at the time, and what unfolded that evening has stayed with me ever since. Mariah was radiant - regal and real - surrounded by warmth, laughter, and that unmistakable glow that only she has. When she turned to me and asked about me, it was one of those rare, human moments that you never forget.
I wrote a reflection called "Here For It All" - a personal piece about that meeting, how her music has shaped my life across generations, and what it means to me as a mother to pass that love on to my daughters.
Mariah's music has been the golden thread through my life - in joy, heartbreak, and everything in between. She's been my comfort and my courage, and writing this felt like a love letter to the woman whose songs have always been there. Please comment whether you'd like to see the unpublished story.

I Won't Allow It probably has the most potential. It's fun. It's dance. It's silly. It's relatable. There's so many good songs but the lead single should be a fun uptempo. Just my two cents.

We all know now that Type Dangerous was the single that they all agreed was the best to launch the era and album. Now that we've lived with all the songs for a month which of the eleven songs would've you put all the resources into like radio deal, big budget music video, performances behind? Is there even one song that deserves all that or was TD the right choice?

Yeah, I can't listen to the whole album all the way through because of the "finger snaps", which, to me, sound like hands clapping. It does get repetitive. That was one of my main complaints when the album first came out.

Now that I'm over my replay of "The impossible" I'm now on "A no no". This song is a bop and the production is good. I even love the cover art as well. Anybody like "A no no"?

I can't believe this song turned out to be my favorite track on the album. I went to bed singing it and woke up singing it. I hate that the album has already fallen off the charts. Many people are missing out on one of Mariah's best efforts. The Clark Sisters really made the song better with their incredible voices and melodies. Mariah did her thang too. She put her stank on it, as we say. I love the entire album. I hope we still get a deluxe version. I try not to skip any songs since they all offer something different and evoke different emotions in me. She really does offer something for everyone on her albums and this one is no different. I don't care about the charts or the general public, and if Jermaine likes it, then I like it.

The impossible (111,997)

I understand, it's an album that was polarizing for fans. Definitely one of her most underrated albums. My absolute favorite song may be Candy Bling. Inseparable, The Impossible, Languishing are also in my head a lot. The entire album had no skips for me. I didn't mean to trash Imperfect, it just doesn't work for me. I feel like it's missing something but can't pinpoint what it is. Probably just a difference in tastes. With time it may ver well grown on me. Songs just hit different for different people and Mariah makes sure to include something for everyone in her work. Lots of love

Didn't mean to trash "H.A.T.E U" I just don't like it. I think the video could have been better too but you're right the album is definitely good and I can't believe I hated it before. I think the reason I like "Imperfect" is because of the music and production. HFIA reminds me a lot of MOAIA with songs like "In your feelings", Confetti & Champagne" and "Nothing is impossible". I also played "Obsessed" a few times because it's catchy and heck Mariah looks good. I like "Obsessed" because it's the song that broke Eminem and he has never been the same since. I just needed "Languishing" to be longer.

My introduction to Mariah (111,989)
by Stacey from USA

It was 1993. I was 15 years old. I was vacuuming my family room. I had my back to the TV with VH1 playing Mariah's live performance of Hero. You know when VH1 and MTV actually played music videos, lol. I stopped and turned around and thought, that voice - who is that? The rest is history. Mariah has that ability to put my feelings into words. "You look at me and see the girl, who lives inside the golden world; but don't believe that's all there is to see; you'll never know the real me" - Looking In. "They can say anything they want to say; try to bring me down, but I will not allow; anyone to succeed hanging clouds over me; and they can try hard to make me feel; that I don't matter at all; but I refuse to falter in what I believe or lose faith in my dreams cause there is a light in me shines brightly; they can try but they can't take that away from me." Thank you MC for providing me an outlet these last 30+ years.

All of a sudden I've become addicted to "The impossible". I have a new love for MOAIA minus "H.A.T.E U". I think it's the worst song on the album but "The impossible", "Candy bling" and "Standing O". I would like to ask Mariah why "Imperfect" did not make the album as it would have ended it perfectly. It's funny how an album will grow on you all these years later.

My introduction to Mariah (111,978)
by Libra Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
It was 1993. A small town in Texas where the train tracks divided the white and black communities. Still does. To this day. Population. Less than 3000. In 2025 it's less than 1000. Some of my favorite people in my life and some of my favorite memories. My father still being alive mostly. 6th grade teacher, Mrs. B talked to the class about this girl singing this song called Hero and how she overcame a lot for her success and how talented she was. She was mesmerized by Mariah. One of my favorite memories now. Not knowing then that I would grow to absolutely adore this Mariah and be mesmerized by her eventually. To this day, I still love Mariah. More now than ever. Her latest artistic effort is a testament to her success and her talent. I love the new album. That's all. I feel like I don't share more personal things here because I've been guarded for so long. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's No Kings Day here where I live and it makes me very happy and emotional to see so many Americans doing the most American thing we can do, protest. Love to all. Especially to the fabulous and incomparable Ms Carey.

I agree with you on the questionable single choices. I really enjoy I Won't Allow It, should've been the first choice. Type Dangerous is my least favorite song on the album and feels out of place with the album and yet I find myself humming it throughout out the day. I really enjoyed Jesus I Do and I'm, it's perfect, and I'm not a religious person. I can't stop paying the album. Glad you're enjoying it.

I don't understand why Type Dangerous and Sugar Sweet were chosen to launch the album when you had compositions like In Your Feelings, Nothing Is Impossible, and I Won't Allow It that are so much better, different to any other launch she's done before, and better represent the album's sound. It's to the point they sound somewhat out of place and I find myself skipping them so I stay in that 70s lane. I can't stop playing this album, it's so good.
