About Stacey from USA: Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. Ok? I'm too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

That's it?

I'm not a huge Toni Braxton fan but I will give her props for Just Another Sad Love Song and How Could An Angel Break My Heart. How Could An Angel has one of the best emotionally driven bridges ever, and with Kenny G on the sax? Beautiful.

The Remixes (101,135) by Stacey from USA
The Remixes was a missed opportunity. With any remixed song, there was almost always a radio edit included. Those radio edits should have been included on the album so more songs could be included. The second CD should have been filled with her slower, R&B remixes and include lesser known ones like UTS (Drifting Remix). Lazy tracklisting indeed.

I had the same reaction to Endless Love. Such an iconic pairing much like MC and Whitney.

Re: If saying... (101,081) (101,100) by Stacey from USA
I agree it's negativity if someone says those things. What I don't agree with is calling out that person for saying such things. Starting a thread solely about the alleged tone of the board. Who cares? What someone else says or does doesn't change what I do. Carey on.

I think this is a great strategy. Stay quiet then drop hints a few days before and bam release the project. Here's hoping for a Fall surprise.

Re: If saying... (101,074) (101,077) by Stacey from USA
Saying her voice is shot and MC should retire is of course being negative. Saying she's fat and needs to loose weight is negative. I don't deny that.

The real problem, the point I'm trying to make is when someone takes that "negative" comment as a personal attack against their own opinions and seeks to tell that person off, prove them wrong, you're not a real fan, etc. I believe in the free exchange of ideas. Such a lost art.

Fellow SPED teacher, how cool is that? Hoping you have a good year. I hear you on living the weekends. A good MC song does me good on my drive home.

Negativity (101,061) by Stacey from USA
Can't blame me, lol. I haven't posted much the past few weeks. Been too busy as school has started back. P.S. I teach high school special Ed.

P.S. Is it really negativity or folks getting a wee bit too sensitive to opinions contrary to their own. Asking for a friend.

Re: My All (100,957) (100,958) by Stacey from USA
Ok well I finally got this song out of my head, it had been living there for awhile, and now it's back, lol. Thanks a lot. I agree. This song is one of her best ballads. It proves that sometimes less is more. I'm not talking about vocals, but overall production. It's just her, the guitar, and some percussion. Add to the fact we now know the circumstances surrounding the song's creation, just makes me love it more.

Re: RIP Olivia Newton John (100,941) (100,950) by Stacey from USA
Hopefully we will get something along the lines of an HD quality recording of their Butterfly Tour duet on The Rarities 2. I'd even love an acoustic recording ala Close My Eyes from the first rarities album. MC's Instagram post was perfect.

Re: Best breakup album: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (100,904) (100,906) by Stacey from USA
I think of her performance of Petals at the Rosie O'Donnell show in 2000. At the end of Petals where she sings, "I miss you Valentine (Tommy), I really loved you," she shook the microphone a bit with her head nodding as well. I think MC did love him with Butterfly being the words she wished he had said to her. I think she wanted the marriage to work but left when she had nothing more to give.

Re: Best breakup album: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (100,884) (100,886) by Stacey from USA
Well true. Mariah did cover the song made famous by Phil Collins. But we all know MC chooses cover songs as meticulously as her own songs she writes. Crybaby is for sure about Derek. Such a great song.

Re:#Butterfly25 (100,870) (100,873) by Stacey from USA
You had me in your corner right up until the end, lol. But I agree, leave Butterfly alone. It's such an iconic album, era, etc. She did rerecord The Roof with Brandy as part of Master-class. Fine. But don't do anything more.

Same. That SNL performance is insane, in a good way. I love the song even more now that we know the story behind it.

P.S. I got two kittens a few months ago. They are being quite wild this morning, lol.

The great thing is we have 30 years of music to listen to while we wait. Go revisit a song or album you haven't listened to in awhile. My latest song is My All.

Re: What sank Charmbracelet? (100,845) (100,846) by Stacey from USA
MC is fire when she uses all aspects of her voice. Just like I hate overuse of the whisper, I don't like songs where her full voice is flying high. I like it when she mixes it up. I like the tension, the build up and then emotional release at the end.

Re: What sank Charmbracelet? (100,842) (100,844) by Stacey from USA
I remember that story. As talented as Mariah is, and I know this may come as a shock to some, she is occasionally wrong. I am glad JD insisted she sing full voice instead of whisper on WBT and glad MC listened. Can you imagine whisper vocals all throughout WBT? Yikes.

Re: (100,841) (100,843) by Stacey from USA
First off, I'm glad you love Charmbracelet.

The album tanked with the general public because Mariah overused the whisper vocal. The lyrics were screaming for that full voice vocal and does MC do? Whisper. CB is hard for me to listen to because I don't get that emotional release. What is MC known for? What made her dominate the 1990s? That voice. It's why when promotion began for TEOM, the slogan used was "Return of the Voice". Mariah is most successful when she uses all aspects of her voice (whisper, full voice, whistle.) But again, I've always argued CB was released as damage control. It gave Mariah a platform to explain what happened during her breakdown, get her airtime, which set her up for the real comeback: The Emancipation of Mimi. And for that last reason alone I'll always be grateful for Charmbracelet even if I don't personally care for the album.

Re: What sank Charmbracelet? (100,819) (100,826) by Stacey from USA
Very good point. Absence does makes the heart grow fonder. See I don't think CB was a failure. I do think MC used the promotion for CB to share her side of what happened. The amount of promotion may have bordered on overkill, but I think she did that much to get as much face time out there to say she is ok and ready to make music again. The album was released to get her back in the game, give an excuse to tour, and get everyone ready for the real comeback which was TOEM.
