Re: Somewhat Loved (98,037) (98,042) by enwar00 from usa
What I've noticed is that I'm once again listening to new music that's been coming out recently. After a few years there of barely connecting with anything, I resorted back to my CDs. Now I'm excited at so much of what's being released by so many different types of artists and I'm loving being exposed to it. Perhaps some of it is the sweeter melodies you mention. I love all those songs you named and those are just a few.

Daydream Interlude. Easiest question I've ever had to answer.

Re: Dionne Warwick (97,893) (97,899) by enwar00 from usa
It's more than silly. More like pathetic. I read some of her tweets and they were funny. Have you seen the SNL skits where they spoofed her a couple times and did The Dionne Warwick show? I thought it was hysterical.

Re: Best opening line (97,752) (97,834) by enwar00 from usa
I woke up in the middle of the night, and this line flowed through my mind: "Soft, heavenly eyes gazed into me, transcending space and time." From an oft forgotten song with outstanding vocals.

Re: Mariah's "real birthdate" (97,719) (97,723) by enwar00 from usa
It must be a fake or doctored newspaper article. Created to continue this obsession with what year she was born. Mariah would never lie.

Top 5 music video eras (97,634) by enwar00 from usa
1. Butterfly
I mean, no competition. Mariah finally stepped up her music video game and it paid off. Each video was different than the other and they're all my favorites. Honey - sexy and fun, Butterfly - artsy, Breakdown - sleek and colorful, The Roof - sophisticated, My All - classy.

2. The Emancipation of Mimi
Stepped it up again and it showed. Right off the bat It's Like That showed this era was going to be something else, something big and exciting. Love the 2-part concept. Shake It Off still makes me laugh. The dark colors in DFAU. Love them all.

3. Caution
Can't help but feel these videos were slept on. I do think in time more people will discover and appreciate them as well as the album. Love the deep, rich colors in GTFO. Video fits the slinky song perfectly. With You is classy and beautiful, again fits the song perfectly. Love the blue and pink colors in A No No that represented the Caution era and love the super matte look of the video. I can totally picture this being a video album where all songs had cool videos. Sigh.

4. Emotions
Despite everything above, 30 years later ( ) I may go on record saying this song and video are my faves from Mimi. I just love the young, fun, simple, carefree, effervescent vibe of both, the different color tints of the video, and seeing people having fun together... what a concept. Maybe art was imitating life and this was before the drama started. Can't Let Go is another perfect match of song and video, so young but so elegant and classy. This era truly feels underrated yet there's something special about it and about the early 90s in general. Maybe being eternally 12 truly is a thing.

5. #1's/ MIAMTEC
Was she a stunner during #1's or what. During those scenes with the pony in I Still Believe, she just exudes so much beauty. You can tell she was happy. And she was showing off the killer bod in Sweetheart. Also Pure Imagination is so random but cute.

Can't seem to have a top 5 or top 10 list on this board without a hyphen, tie or honorable mentions so just for laughs, MIAMTEC. Solely because of You're Mine (Eternal). This song is so dreamy and the video makes it even more so. Love the rainforest and her gold dust glitter nymph look, she looks great and her hair is awesome. Still surprised it got so much hate. This is another one I think will age well.

Re: Top 5 best album openers (97,517) (97,524) by enwar00 from usa
Wow. And I love that she opened MIAMTEC with Cry. In fact I couldn't come up with a top 5 but have been meaning to post how that one sticks out for me the most, and in a good way. I still to this day love the sequencing on MIAMTEC, at least the first handful of tracks, how it opens with Cry. and ever so slowly builds up to Thirsty. Love those first 5 songs, they just flow for me. Forget Migrate, how about #Justice for Faded, another should've been a single.

Haha I still watch mixed-ish every week, and I recently realized that every time In The Mix comes on during the credits I dance in my seat.

Re: Mimi's Late Night Valentine's Mix (97,348) (97,349) by enwar00 from usa
Yes. I loved the instrumentation. It gave WBT more of the vintage soul sound some of the album tracks on Mimi had, which is interesting since it was on that album. Even just seeing her with a band and instruments supporting her, for me that feels more organic and enjoyable in a different way. I somewhat got Unplugged vibes too. But very intimate. I do like the darker hair, makeup, clothes. Nice job Mariah.

Charmbracelet EPs (97,191) by enwar00 from usa
I'm in love. And I am shocked.

This was the first era where no CD maxi single with remixes was released in the States, so I only knew the Through The Rain Hex Hector/Mac Quayle radio edit from the single and The Remixes. I heard the Street Mix of Boy once on YouTube and a remix of BOTH a few times in the club drunk years ago. So while I understand people's qualms with a few missing remixes and instrumentals, for me this is a plethora of fresh and inventive new mixes that I had no idea even existed, and so far they've far exceeded my expectations.

This is especially surprising since Charmbracelet is one of my least favorite MC albums, and now I can't help but think that era could have felt completely different if handled differently. Irregardless I'm so excited having this experience as the first MC30 release of the year after the Christmas schtick started to feel stale to me last month.

First I listened to I Only Wanted EP yesterday, which is good and reminds me of both the Peter Rauhofer mix of WBT and the Classic Club Mix of Honey.

Next I listened to The One EP, and I instantly loved the Wildlife Club Mix. That may be my favorite off these EPs so far.

Then I listened to the Boy EP and I must say I enjoy all of the different rhythmic beats with each remix. The Panjabi one sticks out but I like them all.

I listened to these repeatedly then tonight heard the epic, twelve minute full Hex Hector/Mac Quale Club Mix of TTR for the first time ever. What a thrill. I don't think the edit does it justice.

Overall I'm very impressed so far and excited to hear the rest of the Through The Rain EP before I even get to Bringin' on the Heartbreak. These EPs may end up ranking higher than the Butterfly ones for me, we'll see.

Re: Mariah Unplugged (97,088) (97,093) by enwar00 from usa
No Nikki, you're not alone, I love You're Mine (Eternal) too. To me it's such a hypnotic song, and I've always said and thought it had an intriguing structure. I also love the video, the setting and its color, she looks beautiful, and I think it fits the mood of the song. I would love another unplugged album, but unfortunately I don't know if that'll ever happen again.

Re: Ryan and Kelly show (97,015) Thank You, Next (97,018) by enwar00 from usa
I think some fans don't even care to hear the same ole same ole repeated ramblings. I've been over the memoir peddling and the queen of Christmas shtick this season. I loved Caution and the whole vibe of its rollout, the interviews, the tour, even with Christmas falling in between. Thoroughly enjoyed the 25th anniversary of Merry Christmas, the reissue and AIWFCIY hitting the top spot, what a total celebratory moment. I'm hoping there will continue to be more non-Christmas music in the near and further future. I couldn't care less about a biopic. Of course I'll watch, and hopefully if won't be as cheesy as the Christmas special. Thing is I'd rather hear an album from an artist I love than buy their skin care line. Unless this is just about the money now. Ok so I'll have to listen to the Christmas albums the next couple days to counterbalance this post. On a positive MC30 has been cool, so I still have hope.

I mean, I don't live over there but from what I saw, yes they're already predicting based on half a week that AIWFCIY will be #1 once the chart week is over. And that gets announced on Friday.

And JD produced Always Be My Baby with her. Idk, to me that's her most enduring non-Christmas pop hit.

And then play Music Box the song right after those two. The O.G. of the twinkly intros. Ugh that sound is so underrated I must listen now.

A lyric video for Save The Day was released. Also the Tokyo Dome concert on YouTube, available as individual tracks. That's what I've noticed tonight.
