Re: Mariah - new label (98,895) (98,900) by RJJ12 from USA Kirk Franklin is under the RCA Inspiration imprint as he is a gospel artist so I think that's why it's also included but I would t be mad at a gospel album. Mariah - new label (98,892) by RJJ12 from USA So according to the New York Post Mariah is releasing music on her own imprint "MARIAH" in partnership with RCA records. So her deal with Epic must be over. Seems like a smart move so far. She was able to get to collab with Khalid, a big artist on RCA and Kirk Franklin who is signed to RCA Inspiration. Fall in love at Christmas time (98,821) by RJJ12 from USA I love love love the snippet. It sounds promising and the smidge of vocals I heard already surpass Cautions restrained vocals. Khalid sounds really good on the record and they blend really well together. I'm not even mad that it's a ballad. Doesn't sound like anything she's done but still r&b. I was dreading more Christmas stuff because all I want is a new album, greasy songs and vocals, a TEOM level push of her records (I really wish she'd spend her own money if the label doesn't want to give the proper budget) and some live singing. Two songs tops for each performance and sing everywhere - lol. One can dream right. Anyway excited for this new Christmas record. (Tuesday 2 November 2021; 06:30)

She's good when she isn't playing herself or some version of her and when required to take direction. She's used to having control, and when she does, the results suck, hence that horrible Hallmark movie. She was amazing in Wise Girls. I didn't see Mariah Carey when she played Rachel. That's new for her as well know she is very particular about her looks. If anything I'm hoping it's her evolving as an artist and diving more into her artistic side instead of leaning towards the same vanity shots. I love the blue She Hulk Caution cover. I didn't think she would have the guts to do that. Hoping for more artistic album covers in the future. Notable mention to the Emancipation and Butterfly covers. Re: Wedding song (98,166) (98,173) by RJJ12 from USA Music Box. It's a good choice if you are looking for someone to sing it. It's sung mostly in her middle register with few transitions and inflections. Part of what Mariahs song so hard to replicate is all the transitions. She's whispering on second, diving to a deep note the next, only to jump up to a high belt and then go into her falsetto. Who can keep up with that - lol. (Tuesday 15 June 2021; 05:16)

Somewhat Loved (98,128) by RJJ12 from USA I heard the full song and I like it. The vocal approach is reminiscent of E=MC2. Sung straight forward and in her mid range. I really like the lyrics. The intro is beautiful and I love the verses. The bridge is a little busy. No big vocal moment at the end sans a few whistles. It's probably her most poppy sounding r&b song since Beautiful. It has potential. Not sure if Jimmy Jam and Terry’s label are going to put any money behind it for radio but it’s nice to have a new song. I really relate to the lyrics currently so I’ll be living with this song this summer. (Wednesday 9 June 2021; 23:48)

Re: Caution deserved better (98,123) (98,127) by RJJ12 from USA The problem with Caution is the label didn't send any of its singles to all major radio formats, they only sent them to adult ac and urban ac to die a quick death and not even chart. I see Mariah is following Melissa to Range Entertainment. I'm wondering if they have a plan this go around to fund the radio promo themselves and reach out to the executives of big radio stations to set up deal where she promises to do interviews and Christmas concerts if they put her new singles on rotation. Gone are the days where labels put money behind her. She's going to have to use her contacts and own money to push her songs if she really wants a hit because Epic isn't giving her much support or a decent budget to score a hit. I know she is used to being catered to but if she wants to chart, Mariah and her team are going to have to take matters into their own hands. She has the money and the connections. It's time to put that into action. The Caution Tour was excellent. It really was a tour for the lambs. She did fan favorites like AYNAF and YDKWTD from the I AM album and the ABMB remix. Breaking down the Lead The Way runs (98,062) by RJJ12 from USA For all the Lead The Way lovers or just folks who love a good vocal breakdown, this is a must watch. I love how he plots every single note and every goes into detail in the small little inflections and changes within each run. She sings them so fast I guess I didn't realize how complex they are. It's one thing to be able to mimic her runs like the Lead The Way challenge but it's an entirely different thing to actually come up with these runs. This is a must watch. I felt like I was back in math class trying to get from point A to point Z. I love how the guy doing the analysis gives a lot of respect for the complexity of these runs. Since so many people love Walter on this board, what is your favorite Walter produced non single, album cut. My vote is for All I Ever Wanted for the lyrics alone. "If you only knew, what I feel for you. If you only lived for me, the way I live for you." This song always gives me the feels. I think it got a bad rap because it came out during the nightmare era and YGs intro was entirely too long and only brought the song down. I always listen to the no rap version of this song. I love the melody to the verses and the pre chorus and lyrically the first verse is very Mariah while the second verse is very Mimi. She looked great in the video but the 3 and a half minutes of meaningless posing without any attempt at a storyline killed the video. Had they had Mariah walking in the bedroom of that mansion catching her WBT lead in bed with another woman and Mariah storming out of the house while stealing the keys to his luxury vehicle, crashing it and it burst into flames with a trunk full of his belonging and the skirt of the wedding dress peaking out of the trunk... any lamb on this board could have came up with a great inexpensive concept. If you were hired to redo the I Don't video, what would your concept be and how would you roll out promotion for the song if you were in charge. Let's get this board moving again. Her voice sounds really good and she is singing in full voice. Gone is the unnatural vocals on certain parts of her home performances. She didn't sound well on those. Though is the first song since Beautiful that has the mass appeal sound she was known for in her early years blending pop and r&b. I see Jimmy and Terry's people took the song down. Who are they signed to? I wonder if they are releasing it as a single and giving it a decent radio budget. (Tuesday 25 May 2021; 09:14)

Re: The art of forgiveness (97,993) (97,997) by RJJ12 from USA This is a dead subject. Besides, they continue to take swipes at each other. The song goes number 1 finally and he does an interview again that she has "erased" him from the songs history when she gave him credit in a video weeks prior to the song going number 1. Plus, I would have stopped mentioning his name too when he when on record saying it wasn't his most favorite song he wrote (a swipe to her as a songwriter) and that the going up and down the scale as the melody was so basic (a swipe at her musicianship) he was worried what his musician friends would say. Plus there are times he is interviewed about the song and he barely if at all mentions her involvement. I knew after he came out last year about her trying to not give him credit there would be payback and it came with her only mentioning his name once in passing in her memoir. Brutal. I think he won this war when he sold his half of the royalties to someone other than her. Not sure they will make up, like, ever. It would be nice to forgive, even if they never work together because who wants to keeping carrying that for years. I would leave that situation where it's at. (Saturday 22 May 2021; 00:34)

Brandy collab / Skrillex (97,957) by RJJ12 from USA Mariah's tweet to Brandy asking her if they are going to do background vocals. Sounds like a collab that kind of came out of nowhere. Both of these artists are known for their background vocals, so it would be interesting to see if they come up with something good. I would like Mariah to work with Jazmine Sullivan though, I think they would blend well vocally and write a good song. Skrillex posted a butterfly recently. I would t mind another collaboration with him. The Distance was very current day pop with some bounce once the beat kicked in. A new sound from her usual mid tempo r&b kick she's been on. I'd like an album full of up tempos. That would be very different for her and help inject some energy into her discography since a lot of her earlier work was ballads. (Saturday 8 May 2021; 18:42)

Re: Dionne Warwick (97,902) (97,903) by RJJ12 from USA Dionne Warwick is a legendary old school diva who comes from a era where everyone was competition, where shade throwing is not only the norm but expected. She's smart and she knows making these statements will gain traction and continued relevancy. She did state that she loves Mariah's music and writes "incredibly well". So regardless if she feels she is an icon or not, she still gave her props for her music and writing capabilities which is more than some folks give her credit for. I wouldn't tangle with Ms Warwick though. Does anyone remember when she was on celebrity apprentice and she called Nikki Taylor a "hussy" and was the villain of the season. I was dying laughing.
