About Mara from United States: I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Foxwoods show (77,509) by Mara from United States
So Mariah has this random date at the Foxwoods on October 14th the year. How amazing would it be, if she totally surprised us all and made that a complete Butterfly album to commemorate the Butterfly 20th anniversary. As a surprise show, from front to back ala U2 The Joshua Tree. I was thinking about getting tickets to the show and just find it strange that it's a random show not a tour with Lionel, Sweet Fantasy, Christmas, whatever, but it does coincide with Butterfly's September 16th release date. I think I would die a complete happy fan if that happened and I think the rest of the lambs would too as there would be some kind of footage or sound from it. Any ideas as to if this is just another regular same song performance? Wouldn't it be nice if she used this little opportunity to perform some deep cuts from Butterfly and just let loose or did some raw acoustic material. One can dream Mariah. I think a show like that would get a lot of positive coverage or press, more so than not and also bring attentions and new fans or interest to Butterfly, which I'll say again is her best complete body of work to date.

Re: The Star (77,498) (77,508) by Mara from United States
Mimi, that Christmas special, everything was beyond "on point". She looked every bit the classy dive, iconic voice that she is. She oozed class, sophistication, and beauty. I wish she showed that side to th world a little more these days. Glad a little more of it is coming through on the "All The Hits Tour". I have to admit, the Stella look is overstaying is welcome and I'm tired of it. It's sad when the Sun or the Mirror whichever one it was, notices they dress alike. On a side note, I really hope the Madison Square Garden show reminds Mariah of her love for NYC and she re-emerges in the city once again. Now Stella even got her to move her traditional Beacon shows to Las Vegas. It seems like Stella doesn't want to be in NY. Maybe her ex is out there? Who knows? I just know that it won't feel the same without her so called annual Christmas show at the Beacon this year.

Re: Thoughts (77,167) (77,204) by Mara from United States
I just want to say a huge "thank you" B, MusicfanJ, Victor, Licia, for your prayers and well wishes, and RJ for that very comforting message that I needed to read. It's a testament to Mariah when her music is what people crave when going through tough times. Thank you again for the prayers. RJ I hope everything you went through is better now and I'll keep you in my prayers as well.

Thoughts (77,167) by Mara from United States
Hi to all my MCArchives family. I've been away a few weeks and have been going through some health issues. If I could ask for some prayers from any of you who believe in a higher power or positive vibes, I would greatly appreciate it. I have noticed a few new faces since I have been gone and I do have to defend Eric, his website and some of us "older posters". I love that MC still is gaining young fans and I appreciate that as we know she does too. What I hate, is that us "old folks" and the young ones are so divided. I have to agree with the other posts, that we just happened to live through her "golden years" and simply know what she is capable of creating. I believe that is her blessing and curse at the same time. Mariah in her prime, was simply untouchable and could do no wrong and created masterpieces. I am so in need of a new spiritual song right now and have been spoiled since I was 15 of getting one every album all through life. I think people don't understand the Andrews and Edwards of this board would not be here if they didn't still hold hope that this woman could create something wonderful. She just seems lost and has for a while now. The last clips I saw of Vegas showed a beautiful woman who looks just over it. Like she is blank and isn't there. The Mariah I knew, checked out. It's frustrating as I still believe this woman has sit in her. Maybe her true fans are too hard on her and we should cut back. I think that may be true. That is what she always gave us though, so that is Mariah's blessing and curse at the same time. I believe she knows that and at this stage in her life, can't live up to it. I completely understand that. It's when she literally looks completely over it, stiff and medicated that worries me. If there are issues she needs to deal with, take some time off. Take some time for you, heal, find yourself. Why is she up there for the world to see this vulnerable state. It's been that way since Chanteuse to be completley honest. Why is her management allowing or pushing her to continue? She needs to soul search. She has been through life changing events having two beautiful children and then going through a divorce. There is no reason to be so public and all over TMZ when clearly she is still going through something. I still look at MC as the sister I never met, and after losing my all time fav male artist George Michael, Mariah is all I have left. I don't want to see that happen to her. I would be perfectly fine with her taking some time to heal and find herself again and come back stronger. I'm sorry if we seem like we cannot be pleased, but I know a lot of us just care about Mariah Carey the person and do not like what we are seeing before our eyes. When all we see is the Russian family and no longer Mariah's own even mother, something just seems off, and has for a few years. I am grateful we have her and she is still here for us to see perform live and I hope she kills the Lionel tour and proves those fans of his that attacked her since the announcement wrong. A part of me still wishes she would do a sit down with either Barbara, Oprah, Diane or even Matt Lauer and come clean on some things, say what she's been through. Tell the world how hard it is to be Mariah Carey, live up to that expectation, her divorce, go deeper into her childhood, explain why she takes on the diva persona, mention her voice and how it's a fragile instrument, bring up NYE, whatever. Let the world know you are human and then build up for that comeback and come back with a last vengeance. That is my wish anyhow. At this point, what does she has to lose? She has nothing but a gain. She needs some to win back the people and let them in on some things. She is public for the wrong reasons. People would be on her side again as I do believe they would like to see her back.

Re: Out and about in Paris (76,629) (76,671) by Mara from United States
I totally agree. Every time MC is in Paris, she looks classy. Must be something about being in the City of Lights. Amazing what covering up and being in clothes that fit you properly can do. I hope she doesn't come home and resort back to the blonde Stella.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,834) (75,846) by Mara from United States
I have to go with Emotions too. While I love the debut and it was what made me a fan in the first place with songs like IDWC, LTT, VOL, AIL and Someday (I think her look in that video is iconic) sorry Mariah, I know you are embarrassed or whatever but that's the look I always wanted to emulate in my teens. But back to the music, when she released Emotions, I don't think I played anything else for months. The tone in her voice, those haunting and dark moody songs. That opening to You're So Cold, Can't Let Go (those perfectly executed and placed whistles) the doo woopy So Blessed, AYDT, the timeless Til The End Of Time and the closing of The Wind. The whole album has mood setting to it that feels complete. I feel like she felt this album more. Emotions is very underrated to be honest.

Re: Why a beauty shop? (75,790) (75,795) by Mara from United States
Exactly RibbonB. I still say Stella uses the Kartrasians as her main template for everything. Only difference is they actually have a market right now. Mariah did great with the MAC line but her herself doing a personal line is a risk. Why is she involving Stella in everything? Is she that easily lead? We know she is the one backing it, Stella, God bless her is not the ideal image of beauty when you think of skincare. What has MC's head so cloudy right now? Someone mentioned why she is involved with so many other things instead of the music. Well, again, Stella. Not only Stella, but Mariah and her bad judgement. Stella wants to milk MC's name for all it is worth and attach herself to it. She is really trying it all, and think about it, what can Stella do with music? MimiL the sad thing is, you are prob right about the cosmetic line and Mishka. In fact they will prob have Mishka and Sushi roll working the counter when she can get her working papers. Stella knows what she is doing and she won't let a good thing go that easily. MAC is an established well known make up line but that doesn't mean that this will be as successful. All this is doing is detracting MC and her attention from music. It just seems like everything is started and never finishes. It's all over the place.

Re: Martyn who? He is not the only victim (75,698) (75,705) by Mara from United States
With all due respect, you come to this board and have the nerve to post how "you do not know who this Martyn person is" nor do you even care? Well Nick-André we here at MCA have expressed our grief and sadness over this senseless act of violence that has taken so many lives away. I have no idea who "you" are and I'm sure none of us here have, but Martyn? Martyn, we do know. Martyn was our family here and when you come to a place daily, whether it be online or a café, whatever, you begin to form familiarity and friendships with people. Martyn was "our" family here. He has been posting for over 4 years. Some of us have formed real friendships with him. So before you randomly come to a Mariah Carey message board and think we are all some Mariah fans that are showing him respect and loss "just because he was a lamb" or that we saw his name in the news and decided it was he who we were going to mourn, you couldn't be more wrong. Martyn was someone that you could just tell, lit up a room. He was the infectious energy that made you smile from being around him. That was evident by his videos, posts, things written about him by his family along with his friend. So Nick-André, I hope I have answered your question on "who this Martyn person was". You have come to Martyn's domain here and asked this question to his family. We all loved him here. We all feel the loss of the rest of the victims as well as the other senseless acts that have taken place in this new world we seem to be living in, but please don't disrespect Martyn here ever again in his "home". He will always be one of us. Not so sure who you were again?

Martyn you will be missed (75,664) by Mara from United States
I was praying and praying for Martyn's safety and am so saddened by the news today. I know how excited he was in coming to the United States and this is all so sad and tragic. I feel like I lost someone I knew beyond a messageboard. He was one of our MCA family. I will miss his posts and how he and I other than MC appreciated other similar artists along with George Michael. Martyn, as George and Mariah both sang, "You Have Been Loved", "Til The End Of Time" my friend. *feeling heartbroken*

Oh no. I saw a picture on TMZ along with his name and recognized him right away. I am praying for Martyn and his family and friends while they wait to hear his whereabouts. Such a terrible tragedy and my prayers go out to everyone who lost their lives and the injured and their families. I can't even imagine how Arianna must be feeling right now as well. Martyn, we hope you are alright.

Media attention (75,496) by Mara from United States
You know, what I don't understand is why all this constant shallow addiction to the media. The constant nightly dinners so she can be photographed. She has taken over for Kim K at this point. Going backwards instead of forward. I just dont understand the logic here. What has happened to her really? Has it ever occurred to them that she would get just as much if not more and classier media attention if she was photographed doing something "good" with her money. Throw on a damn t shirt, cover them up, wear a pair of decent blue jeans or better yet, joggers and do some charity. Surprise some kids who could use a moment in their life. Volunteer somewhere, get that photograph and coverage if that is what she so desperately seeks. At least she could be doing something good with her platform instead of this shallow "look at me with my diamonds and expensive bags, belts, cars". It is all so offputting and distasteful. She should pay a visit to camp Mariah and have Mishka snap a pic there. Sounds shallow, but my point is she might as well do good if she is so addicted to attention. Whoever said Mariah is throwing us the middle finger, I think is right. We noticed how the Russians have made such an impact in her style and mannerisms and I noticed someone online put a link to Mishka's instgram and she is drinking clinging glasses stating "cheers to the haters". I do think Mariah's attitude is very similar at this point. But enough with th useless pap photos, go do something beneficial. She is always the first to say she always wants to remind her kids how not everyone has all this and you have to work. It would help her image, respect, inner peace and her children.

Tanaka/MC dinner tonight (75,480) by Mara from United States
Ok, come on Mariah. Even soap operas look more real than that picture I saw online of them sitting in the same side of a booth directly turned toward one another and kissing and then him feeding her something. What the hell exactly is going on? Who thinks this is a good look? I don't understand her logic. Stealla, I say Stealla now because she is stealing what class MC had, Stealla, I am so beyond annoyed with you at this point. Mariah, I am annoyed right now. Again, if it were real, ok, we all go back with people or have in our life at some point. But this is just so beyond staged and made for the cameras that I just can't anymore. It's like they tried with hot spot pics with Nick and trotted all over town for the headlines, something happened along the way, Nick was tired of the bullshit and bowed out of the circus? I don't know. So now we enter Tanaka all over again after they trashed him in the tabloids and voila Nick is quiet again, no more public family time etc. I just wish Stella and her empowered girls would be banished. I honestly don't know what will be of MC anymore. I am sick of this at this point.

Re: Second favorite artists (75,379) (75,394) by Mara from United States
George Michael is my male equivalent to Mariah and who I am still devastated we will not know what could have come. I also am a huge Tears For Fears fan and adore Roland Orzabal's powerful voice. Before there was Mariah there was Whitney and that is who I tried to sing like and adored her since YGGL, but once Mariah came I just connected more with her songs. I also like Lana Del Rey. Great question Randy, I was actually thinking of asking the same thing after Chris Cornell died as it reminded me what kind of diverse fan base MC might have.

Chris Cornell (75,351) by Mara from United States
On a side note, it is sad we lost a pioneer in the 90's music scene in Soundgarden's/Audioslave's Chris Cornell. Aside from my love for MC, I always adored Soundgargen and Chris. If anyone here isn't familiar with him or his voice, aside from his Soundgarden, he did his own tribute to MJ when he passed with Billie Jean and Prince with Nothing Compares To U and even Whitney with I Will Always Love You. He was a talent that will be missed. He also was one of the few male singers that had a four octive vocal range. Speaking of ages, he is one that "our age group" will miss.

Re: Ages? (75,345) (75,350) by Mara from United States
Ok ok, 41 "ouch" Mariah has done this to me as she is "eternally 12" side eye. But if you don't feel it, look it or whatever it then it's ok. Wish Mariah embraced her age as she looks phenomenal and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Congratulations Jade (75,218) by Mara from United States
Congratulations and all the best to a beautiful life. Melt Away will always be a special MC song to me and there is nothing like those low notes and that ending of "Baby I" is pure bliss. I actually think the combo of your two songs sounds really cool and I bet it ended really beautifully. Congratulations again.

Mariah and plastic surgery (75,211) by Mara from United States
I can't believe how open Mariah has been since living in LA about seeing a plastic surgeon. I really don't think there is anything wrong with a few fixes here or there, as I'm sure in that business it is expected, but I think she really has changed and followed the (I hate to say it) fake plastic lifestyle of living in LA. God how I miss seeing pics of her on the streets of NYC. Come back Mariah please *singing in my best We Belong Together melody*. But back to the cosmetic center, we know Stella is good friends with this doctor and I think he was at M's Halloween Party. He also of course works with the Kartrashians, Stella's template for all things. Gone are the days M would be discreet on any work she may have had. I wish M would get healthy in the form of eating better and maybe some exercise. I think it would do her better than the quick fixes, so I do agree with Andrew on that. I know that is easier than said and done and it takes commitment but she has done it before and we have seen the results of that.

Re: How 650 million can get messed up (75,201) (75,210) by Mara from United States
I agree and am always worried about that in the back of my mind. People seem to forget that people are worth what their estate and assets are valued at. In Mariah's case it's all combined but may not be what she is actually working with unless she sold some things. What worries me currently is how Stella is currently living like "she is Mariah Carey" or that she is "on Mariah's level of wealth, status, celebrity". I'm sorry but yes, she manages a incredibly wealthy, famous, legendary star. However, she is just that - a manager. And I don't care who you manage, the kind of money she is flaunting is a bit of a red flag sort of thing. Really makes you wonder how she can afford a Maybach and a G-Wagon (I suppose you can lease them) and the expensive bags she carries. I noticed the other girl that she is always with too driving what looked like a black version of what Nick drives. Funny how we know Mariah won't even drive these cars, so Stella bought them for Stella. Don't forget to call TMZ to film this front. I remember MC Hammer being swindled out of millions by family managing his money, so it does happen all the time. Unless The Russian reality star got some kind of advance or large sum in forming the business or the Christmas movie with Mariah. I just hope Mariah's eyes are open.

Re: LA Reid replacement (75,187) (75,189) by Mara from United States
Now if Tommy is the replacement for LA, how much control would he have on MC and the Butterfly label? Something is really off about all of this. Tommy coming out of the woodwork to publicly comment on Mariah after NYE lets you know he is still into the music scene and how "he thinks he could make it better". After the commotion his public comments made along with Stella's response, I noticed on Twitter, accounts solely with pics of MC and TM and pushing for them to reunite. People were thinking how Tommy made people stars and how he is the mastermind behind MC. Then we hear the news months later about MC releasing an album after she stated she wouldn't and she as focusing on singles. Next comes the label launch and the party. Funny how this happens right after the label launch party that was all her signature (pink yet lavender butterfly theme) and of course the picture with LA and Mariah. LA looked tired in the pic but we haven't seen a pic of the two of them for a while. Then this. Could any of it all be connected? What control would T have if he did take over LA's spot, on M's new label? Could LA go with MC on her new label? Either way, I am concerned for what it means for M.
