"Yes, And?" has lost its spark. Despite debuting at #1, it swiftly tumbled to #17 in its following week, and now faces a further decline, with predictions forecasting a drop to #24. Marked by a red bullet on the charts, its streaming and play counts have sharply declined.
Its initial debut at the top position can be attributed to the strategy of releasing seven slightly different versions at a discounted price, coupled with the intense longing of Ariana's fans for new music, who streamed the song relentlessly.
Considering the song's current state, Mariah would be wise to avoid joining a remix of a track that has already lost its appeal. Instead, she should focus her efforts on being involved in a fresh project from its inception.

I am sure MC knew of Beyonce's March release date. Beyonce has been very quiet lately. A late 3rd quarter release date for MC16 will probably be better now. Dua Lipa is dropping her album too sometime probably before June.

It's really tough to figure out. I will go with Queen B first then T- Swizzle. T-Pain gave Taylor her nickname. The only really that I wouldn't go with Mimi is because she has never done a stadium tour. I don't think her voice could hold up with all of the humidity during summer. Could MC sellout stadiums across the U.S. for a stadium tour?

by Edward from USA

I don't blame Ariana, she's just playing the game. Mariah also played it like everybody else did back then, but things were different in terms of quality and value.
We had the Maxi Singles, The remixes that didn't resemble the originals, the discounted singles that were released when songs were at their peak in airplay.
Debuting at #1 was a rare feat, but now it doesn't mean much. Lil Nas X's Old Town Road trumped the One Sweet Day record by putting out many remixes that kept the song going.

It would've been top 10 without all the remixes. A top 10 debut used to be a big deal, it could've been top 5 even, and that would've been great too. But it's all BS now.
Megan got more sales than Ari without a dozen remixes. Yeah, she added some later, but not 12 or so. I really lost respect for Ari for that, even if it was her team. She knows damn well what they're doing.
I can't remember what publication had an article about how a #1 debut doesn't mean what it used to in the age of streaming. Especially when they drop like lead after the first week. Oh well. Hate the game, as they say.

Ariana "Yes, and?" debuted at #1 but it has dropped to #17 and dropping on its second week and with a negative bullet. Do #1's mean anything anymore? When a song debuted a #1, it would hold its position for at least an extra week or it would stay in the top 5. Things have really changed.

Really? I think there won't be a new album. MC makes money with shows, not with a new album. Maybe we'll get a new version of TEOM with unreleased songs like "When I feel it". It's always the same, every time you think there's something great new coming, there's just a perfume or some old stuff in a new dress.

Don't hate the player, hate the game (105,199)
by Edward from USA

Ariana Grande's "Yes, And" debuted at #1. Out of her 8 #1's, 6 of them have debuted at number one, she now has a tie with Taylor Swift. Drake is behind them with 5. I've been wondering why it is so easy to debut at number one these days, I dug a little and now I understand. Similarly to what they accused Mariah and others of doing back in the 90's with remixes and discounted singles, now the trend is releasing six or seven variation of the same song and discounting the variations. These songs are not remixes technically, but different variations. Besides the original they release longer versions, radio edits, sped up versions, instrumentals and the list goes on. Mariah was heavily critized for similar tactics back in the day, but I actually prefer a great quality remix even if it doesn't resemble the original than this new trend. I think it is kind of lazy. Billboard will eventually crack on these tactics, but maybe by then Ariana, Taylor and Drake will have already surpassed Mariah as the solo artist with the most #1 hits. I don't hate the players, they're just taking advantage of the rules of the game just like Mariah did, but I hate the fact that now a number one doesn't really mean anything. As for Ariana's "Yes, And", I love it. I've been working out to it, I thought she had lost it, but she still has the Midas touch Mariah used to have.

Both of them were inexperinced with the ends and outs of the music industry trying to pursue their dreams. It's a shame that we never experienced another Love Takes Time ballad. I believe Ben's compositions with MC gave us more of Mariah's distinct melodies than Walter A's songs did. Walter A's songs with other artists always had that a small element of melody and instrumentation of songs that he composed with Mariah. For example, Leona Lewis' Here I Am. MC sure does have a long list of songwriters, producers, singers, and rappers that we will never experience a repeat collaboration.

I don't think that's the case. Their parting of ways was due to a contract they signed before she was signed to Colombia. Mariah had agreed to split not only the songwriting royalties from the songs, but half of her earnings as well, something she never thought twice about while writing songs in his father's basement.
When the time came to write music for Emotions, Sony officials made it clear he would only be paid the fair amount given to co-writers on an album. Ben didn't like it and filed a lawsuit against Sony, claiming that under contract, he would be entitled to work with Carey, as well as reap extra benefits. A judge settled that Margulies was to earn ten percent of Carey's direct earnings from her record sales, not including an income from any other ventures, but at that point their relationship was ruined.
In an interview, back then, Mariah stated: "I signed blindly. Later, I tried to make it right so we could continue, but he wouldn't accept it."

Good questions. I do believe that Ben was in love with Mariah. Who could not in 90? But of course we don't know. I can't remember from the book too. I have the original in English and it was not easy to read as an non-native speaker. So maybe some of you know more from the chapter of her book?
I think if Tommy wasn't so controlling, it could have worked out. At least longer than it did. It's really a tragic "love story". Yes, Glitter wouldn't have happened.
I have to listen to Caution today. "Giving me Life" is so cool. Could it be about Derek Jeter because of the Norma Jean reference like Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio?

Once signed to Colombia, Mariah continued working with Ben Margulies, but they were not going anywhere in terms of producing her first album. Mariah thought they could, but they were not ready for that. At that time they were working from his improvised studio at a basement. Tommy eventually had to step in by bringing big names producers and that's when things started moving on.
Mariah doesn't mention Ben much because he basically took advantage of a very young Mariah by making her sign a contract in which he ended up getting paid for multiple albums in which he didn't have any input.

I was only thinking about Ben Margulies the other day. Do you think he was infatuated with Mariah and that's why he was side lined? Seems odd that he co wrote her first three singles all going to number one. I may have forgotten something from the book, it's a while since I read it and I'm old lol. Was it the start of Tommy's control?
Was also curious the other day, had Mariah not wanted to break out into R&B at the time would her marriage to Tommy have lasted longer? She clearly says in Petals that she really loved him. If he'd not been so controlling I wonder if they could have worked for longer. Relationships are complicated things and sometimes it's a case of two people being out the worst in each other but you can still truly love the person. Had they lasted longer in be interested to see what her next couple of albums would have been like, Glitter wouldn't have happened, whilst bipolar is generally inherited (I have it myself) she may not have had such a severe breakdown and maybe would not have as many issues now.
This is just me thinking hypothetically I'm just interested in peoples spin on things.

Sexuality is binary. Sex and gender are one in the same. Men and women. Period. That's not my opinion, that's science. We can agree to disagree on that one. I will agree that MC has all kinds of fans from all over the globe who should be allowed to express their opinions. I might disagree with Libra Lamb but I'll always defend their right to speak. Why? Robert, I think Mariah should keep her mouth shut like back in the day when we didn't have to know everything. It was more exciting when we discovered collaborations and producers a few days before albums were released. I just hope she has videos, remixes and a plan by the time she drops the album. Mariah used to have a veil of mystery around her, I hope she brings that back.

Exactly, they have turned the community into a joke with their 20,000 pronuns and 100+ genders. When you can't define the word woman without using the word woman in the defnintion, you know our society is on its way to the toilet. When people now entertain reducing women to being chestfeeders, vagina havers, pregnant people, birthing people just to accommodate some and in the name of inclusion, you know we're effed up. When you have trans women with obviously bigger lungs, hearts and stronger physiques regardless of how long they've been on testosterone supressants, oblitarating women sports, we know misogyny is rampant, yet we're all grouped together with this madness. I love and respect women, and I'll be damned the day I refer to a woman as anything other than a woman. One can never reason with insanity, let alone meet insanity in the middle. The community had reached a very stable middle, until some wanted more and more and more. Now, trans women are not trans women, they are real women. I'm so glad people are starting to push back.

It's a good thing that you guys are opening your eyes in some parts of Europe, especially about protecting children from the madness that's going on here. I know what the word woke means and where it came from. I also know what is has become and where it is going. So, before referring to me making assumptions about things you don't know, just think how stupid that would make you look.
