Mariah's legacy (44,789)

The reason why I am so disappointed on how this whole era has unraveled is because of the negative impact it is having on MC's legacy. The media and the public can't wait to attack when a project flops and this project was a major flop, from beginning to end. MC deserves better. She has worked so hard to get to where she is and it just saddens and upsets me when I hear such negativity directed to an artiste like MC. I honestly love this album, I feel its from the heart, but it was mismanaged from the get go. The article in Billboard magazine, titled "How to solve the MC problem" hit the nail on the head. If MC would read that article, and all the posts on this site, then she can start moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, without a manager like Benny M, she simply cannot compete. I mean look at JLo, she is everywhere right now, not because she has more talent than MC, but because she listens to industry insiders who can guide her properly. I have been a fan since day one and I just want MC to be respected for what she has contributed to the music industry. With the right management and promotion, the lambs could have relished and truly enjoyed the quality of music that MC is capable of. I mean the album is out of the Hot 100. That is such a shame. Mariah still has so much potential, but needless to say, without the right team behind her, not of it will be realized. C'mon MC, you have been here before, shake it off and prove yourself once again. All of your fans believe in you.

Me. I am confused and disappointed (44,659)

I already knew that this album was going to be a flop, so I'm not too surprised on that front. I mean so many delays and the changing of lead singles did this album in. The only shot it had was with #Beautiful, the album should had followed within a couple weeks. Missed opportunity there. Mariah herself is not really helping matters either. The public cannot connect with her like they used to and honestly she is over 40 and needs to act it. She needs to work with more established producers and writers and create an album with a Norah Jones sound. She is too immersed in all this hiphop music and it doesnt translate to the public. Mariah needs to leave the hiphop for young artists and focus on a more mature, refined sound, like Norah Jones or Susan Boyle, there is a huge market out there for quality music, look at Lionel Richie, every one of his concerts are sold out and his album was a hit. Songs like Thirsty are not what Mariah needs right now. That song belongs to an artist like Ariana Grande and others of her caliber, but not at Mariah's. Mariah needs direction and she is not getting it from the right people right now. She has too much control and that is never good for an artist who needs to remain relavent. It's all about the management team, so in closing, change the label, the management, and get rid of the hip hop factor. Mariah acts like she is in her early 20's and that simply doesnt connect well anymore, I mean look at the sales of this album, major fail.

The problem with Mariah (41,842)

This is what I see being the issue with Mariah. She is too focused on herself and she is failing to see the warning signs. I mean that BET performance was all about her look how sexy I am and that just will not click with the audience. Mariah is at a point in her career where she does not need to rely on her sexuality to sell records. She has made a great name for herself by her voice and not by how sexy she looks. Sadly, her voice has taken a back seat for her sexy image, and that is a major warning sign of someone who is afraid to act their age. She needs a new record company and a new vision. She is surrounded by "yes" men, who do not challenge her. She needs to let some new producers and writers in who can produce something new and fresh. She has been working with the same, tired producers for so long and they are trying way too hard to manufacture a hit, but it comes across as something we have all heard before. I mean You're Mine is a great song, but not for a lead single from an album thats been in the works for 4 years. Cmon now. If someone like me can see that, then why can't the so called professionals see it? Mariah need to read these posting by her fans and listen to our advice. Well I still love her music, I mean I bought the last 5 singles she released on iTunes, although they were predictable. She needs to stop acting like a teenager and embrace who and where she is now in her career. Put the voice back in the spotlight, not the teenager antics.
