Billy has became a friend of MC so it was very personal. For years Kelly Clarkson has been expressing her huge desire to cover Mariah's songs ("Miss you most" among others) but MC is not clearing that one. She is so protective of her catalogue although in previous years she did allow Michael Bublé and Idina Menzel to record AIWFCIY.

Yeah I really do think. 
To be fair she has allowed people to officially sample and cover her work and praised it (Billy Eichner - Miss You Most is one that comes to mind, and Jojo's as well) so I don't think she actually has a problem with it. Like you said, she's just taking a page out of Prince's diva book unnecessarily.

Hi fellow Lambs. I've been following this message board since day 1 but somehow never posted here anything. Just wanted to say hi to you all. I've been a lamb since 1994 (Music Box got me here) and there isn't a day when I didn't listen to Mariah's music and supporting her through streaming and buying her records (I have all the CDs, vinyls, singles and casettes). Wishing you all a good day whenever you will read this.
