About Jeff from USA: MC lover from day one!

Bill, in the backseat (95,549) by Jeff from USA
Bill, I have to respectfully disagree with you on Emotions being the only "backseat shots" worth watching. What about those gorgeous shots in The Roof?

The Rarities (95,123) by Jeff from USA
I may have been under a rock, but has there been an "official" track listing released yet?

Re: Caution (95,122) by Jeff from USA
Hi Nikki, I was "introduced" to Mariah by hearing the "Daydream" album, then became die-hard with "Butterfly". I think either would still make new fans. Daydream for the vocals, Butterfly for the lyrical content. I would be happy to introduce a whole new generation to MC with either album.

Save the Day (95,121) by Jeff from USA
I'm on the fence about the song, but one thing that puzzles me. If the song is "featuring Lauren Hill", why doesn't it... um... feature her? It's like she's not even there. Why not just say the song sampled Killing Me Softly? Not hating, simply trying to understand.

Fourth of July (94,500) by Jeff from USA
I always loved the transition from Fourth of July to Breakdown. The chirping birds leading from a moment in love to the pain of love lost. Brilliant and beautiful.

Randy, your post literally made me laugh out loud. Thanks for making my day.

Superlatives (94,433) by Jeff from USA
I'm feeling nostalgic today. Will anyone join me in a good list challenge? I'm thinking about high school superlatives from wayyyy back in my high school days. What do you think?

Mariah Carey - most likely to become famous
Emotions - most likely to succeed
Music Box - best shoulder to cry on
Merry Christmas - most popular
Daydream - best all around
Butterfly - most artistic
Rainbow - life of the party
Glitter - best throwback style
Charmbracelet - most changed
The Emancipation of Mimi - most ambitious
E=MC2 - best sense of humor
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel - class beauty
Merry Christmas II You - cutest couple
Me. I am Mariah... the Elusive Chanteuse - best nickname
Caution - most school spirit

8th Grade (94,247) by Jeff from USA
It was my favorite song from Caution when the album came out and it still is today. Mariah at her best.

Re: Martyn (94,197) by Jeff from USA
Andrew, it's sweet of you to keep Martyn's memory alive on the board. Although I never met Martyn in person, I feel like I would have adored him.

Re: Funeral (93,982) by Jeff from USA
Andrew, I guess I should have explained. I can see why you replied in the way you did. I've always considered Side Effects from the lens of "She wrote it because she needed to and it was cathartic, even though it was painful to do it." I would want those I loved to know that I faced my pain and found freedom in doing so. I guess that's why I said express the feeling. I'm still not sure that it makes sense, but that's the best explanation I can have.

Charmbracelet (93,960) by Jeff from USA
While not an album I visit often, the Charmbracelet World Tour was one of my favorite tours that I was able to attend. I enjoyed the creativity. I particularly liked the live versions of Subtle Invitation and Bringing on the Heartbreak.

Funeral (93,959) by Jeff from USA
I would definitely go with Close My Eyes. However, part of me wishes there was a way to express the pain in Side Effects. Does that make sense to anyone?

Photo shoots (new edition) (93,763) by Jeff from USA
Dahlings, since we're talking about photo shoots, can we shift the energy a bit and talk about our favorite photo shoot(s)? Mine is for the Shake It Off cover art. I think she looks gorgeous in all the pics, but I think this is my favorite. What are yours?

Re: What songs have you been listening to (93,675) by Jeff from USA
I've been stuck on "8th Grade" for the past few days. Feels like classic R&B vibe MC.

Fave non-successful song (93,538) by Jeff from USA
For me, it has to be "The Roof". I have friends that are non-fans, and when I play this song, they all love it. I have even had people ask me if this is from her "new album". Sampling "The Shook Ones" was brilliant, her vocals were amazing, and she looked phenomenal in the video. (Also, didn't she direct the video?) Classic.

Them low notes (93,364) by Jeff from USA
So, listening to Mahalia and Ella Mai's song, "What You Did", and Ella Mai's low notes are making me crave MC's low notes. Is anyone else a fan of the low notes?

I will always love the triumph of WBT. Shut 'em all up.

Re: Breakdown video (92,706) by Jeff from USA
Gee, you have amazing taste, hahling. Besides being two of my favorite songs, the videos are amazing. I particularly love this shot. And this one.

Re: Photoshoots (92,677) by Jeff from USA
I've always been a big fan of the Shake It Off photoshoot. She looked amazing there.

Charmbracelet (92,597) by Jeff from USA
Speaking of Charmbracelet, do y'all think this is MC's most polarizing album for the fans? It seems that many of us have a love it or hate it attitude toward it. I can't think of another album that's so polarizing.

Re: Charmbracelet (92,580) by Jeff from USA
Licia, you don't like Subtle Invitation? That's one of the highlights on CB for me. I agree with you on You Got Me; that's a great song.

I love the story behind Sunflowers more than I like the actual song. I don't think it was a good one vocally, but I can understand that emotion makes it difficult to sing.

Re: Stripped performance (92,542) by Jeff from USA
I love that particular live performance as well. She sounded great and I love the "Who Else" moments at the end. Also, how hilarious was it when she sang, "I don't know the way off the stage... oh." Haha.
