That's not boycott or illegal. You don't have to listen to those playlists. Most people have their own playlists anyway, and Spotify is not the only streaming platform. Brenda wasn't at the top of some of those playlists before. Was she being boycotted since AIWFCIY hit number one? I thought we had moved on from the paranoia lambs tend to have about some mega powerful entity coming for Mariah. AIWFIY and RATCT are the Christmas hits they are because millions of people love them and got them there. You can discount, you can gift, you can pray, you can throw a lambtrum, but all that won't make a song popular or hit if people don't like it. |

Ok critical lambs, you've exposed it. Mariah has never sung in her life. She's a studio creation. She can't sing, she's never performed live, the only Mariah that was real was 1993-1995. Adele, Celine, Ariana, Beyoncé never ever lip. . I've gotta ask (especially the "I wish Mariah was frozen in 1993" from the UK commenters), why can't you just enjoy Mimi's magic and success? I get we all have our favourite "Mariah moments", but all those with the opinionated stance that nothing beats Mariah between Music Box and Daydream is tired. Mariah's best, most emotive moments are post Charmbracelet. |

Reality check (104,147)
by Bill from the UK
(Tuesday 21 November 2023; 08:39)
I hate to be the one to spoil the party, but the Billboard performance wasn't 100% live, or even 50% live. Or even 25%. She was lipping to the Extra Festive version and had pre-recorded parts kick in at the beginning and the end. It's the same as every other "live performance" she's done in the last 10 years. Bah humbug. |

There is one thing you can say about MC is that she doesn't tolerate any type of wrong doing by anyone in her life or who works for her. She will give you the boot quicker than you can say I am sorry. Big Jim Wright was replaced by Daniel Moore without explanation. Hopefully, after the Christmas concerts she will work hard in the studio like she did during the Memoirs and MIAM eras. I would love for MC release a hot album in 2024 even with the state of her voice right now. |

Bryan Tanaka (104,098)
by Bill from the UK
(Friday 17 November 2023; 22:17)
There's a rumour that Bryan Tanaka was arrested a few months ago in Brazil for his involvement in a scam several years ago (pre-Mariah). Not sure if it's true or completely made up, but that would explain his absence recently and subsequent removal from her Instagram. Or, they may have simply broken up. It happens.
As for the Christmas concerts, I'm not even going to waste my time watching the videos. It's the same thing we see every year. Like you all, I fear for Mariah's wellbeing and whatever she is battling. But continuing the charade is not helping anyone. The truth will come out one day I suppose. |

Mariah confirms she's done 10 songs for new album (104,036)
by Bill from the UK
(Monday 13 November 2023; 16:54)
Surely by now the old girl could just finance the damn album herself. All this talk of her shopping around for a record deal is humiliating. She has the resources and star power to go it alone. All she ever does is complain about how such and such a single wasn't pushed, wrong song choices, was told to take songs off she liked, record company politics and blah blah blah. Put your money where your mouth is and go it alone. Tina Arena did so with her latest album because she was tired of the industry and being overlooked, despite being very talented. It did exceptionally well in Australia and was an excellent album too. |

Eh. Give me Love Takes Time any day of the week.
Speaking of Love Takes Time, I noticed today that on the Qobuz streaming app (I'm one of 5 people in the world who use it, rather than Spotify as the sound quality is so much better), the version of Love Takes Time on the debut album has been replaced with the single version that was released on the single variants (CD, cassette and vinyl single releases).
Most people don't notice it, but on the single version, the high note during the "feel that you do inside" line at the end of the bridge is pushed way, way back into the mix so you can barely hear it. The album version however has it much more prominently placed. The Greatest Hits and #1s albums retain the original version. I wonder why this got switched? Is this the same for Spotify and the others, I wonder. |

Did you check out his brillant performance of Ego Talkin on Jimmy Kimmel this week? You got to YouTube his performance. Somebody has been truly studying Mariah Carey. I am not making it up either, Andy. He said it in his Apple Music interview discussing his EP Lost A Friend. His vocal technique and phrasing is just like MC. Also, Daley is back on tour in January. |

I'm thinking more of like a re-imagined versions, or cover of her own songs, again like the Fantasy ballad, or if BER was her own idea. I agree that straight rerecording won't work for obvious reasons, but re-imaging her songs in creative ways seem to rub off really well on rediscovering her catalog. |

I think the absolute last thing Mariah should be doing is re-recording perfect 90s songs with 2023 vocals. I'm still in recovery from hearing that dreadful re-recording of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) from the Christmas special. |

After Memoirs, I feel like Mariah only cared about Butterfly. And then after Merry Christmas took off, she cared ever less about that as well, and she's all about Christmas.
It's only recently that she seems supportive of Daydream. And also I would say around 2019 and 2011, and the success of Free Guy pushed it further. There's an incredible Fantasy ballad cover in that movie, and I wished she had done that herself.
But before that, she was all about Butterfly in the last 15 years. I think it is because of all her most successful albums, that's the one that she actually "owns", creatively and literally, as in masters and all. When I check Wikipedia, she's most credited as lyricist of that entire album. I'm not sure though, that's just my suspicion.
But she definitely should do more. Like covers of her own songs or lend them to soundtracks. I had wished what Taylor Swfit is doing now, that is, re-recording her albums was Mariah's idea. Because her voice has changed, she could have covered her own songs 10-8 years ago in the keys and notes of her move current voice. There's a lot of magic in those songs that the public should be reminded of. |

Mariah duets album 2024 (103,836)
by Bill from the UK
(Saturday 21 October 2023; 11:55)
Interesting. My duets album would be a compilation of existing ones.
1. We're Not Making Love Anymore - Michael Bolton 2. I'll Be There - Trey Lorenz 3. Endless Love - Luther Vandross 4. One Sweet Day - Boyz II Men 5. Everytime I Close My Eyes - Babyface (MC's vocals to be brought way up into the foreground of the mix) 6. The Beautiful Ones - Dru Hill 7. Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin 8. When You Believe - Whitney Houston 9. Whenever You Call - Brian McKnight 10. Hopelessly Devoted to You - Olivia Newton John 11. Against All Odds - Westlife 12. With You I'm Born Again - John Legend 13. Hero - Pavarotti 14. Yours - Justin Timberlake 15. Got to Be Real - Patti LaBelle 16. Supremes Medley - Diana Ross 17. It's a Wrap - Mary J. Blige 18. Glitter-era duet - Prince
I'd keep off Christmas songs and rap features personally. The hype sticker alone would see this fly off the shelves as she's sung with some brilliant singers in her time. Recent duets aren't good so I'd keep those off too. Plus this has some exclusives like Michael Bolton, JT, and John Legend. |

Here's how I think it should look like.
1. The Beautiful Ones with Prince 2. One More Try with George Michael (frankly the fanmade mashup is better) 3. Always Be My Baby with David Cook 4. Against All Odds with Phil Collins 5. Too Much ft Usher 6. Want You ft Eric Benet 7. I Wanna Know What Love Is ft. Foreigner 8. Side Effects ft Young Jeezy 9. Cry Baby ft Snoop Dogg 10. My Love - The-Dream remix 11. Every Time I Close My Eyes with Babyface 2024 remastered 12. H.A.T.E.U. ft The Dream 13. With You I'm Born Again with John Legend (live version) 14. Angels Cry ft. Ne-Yo 15. Big Energy Remix with Latto 16. Somewhat Loved with Jam and Lewis 17. It's A Wrap with MJBlige 18. Circles e-lie remix (bonus) |

Okay. So we're basically two months out from Christmas. I normally start listening to festive tunes in November but I'm drinking champagne and feeling some kind of festive way. Besides the obvious, which Christmas albums do y'all like? I like Kelly Clarkson's first one, Celine Dion's, Bubles, and a bunch of singles released by Ariana, Chris Brown, Cee-Lo. Am I missing out on any? Not sure imma listen to Cher's. |

Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (103,810)
by Bill from the UK
(Thursday 19 October 2023; 14:25)
Miss You Most wasn't an official single. It was issued for radio play only to promote the album. AIWFCIY went to pop stations, Miss You Most to AC stations, Joy to the World (and its remixes) to the club stations, and Jesus Born On This Day to the Christian stations. None were released as actual physical singles in the US at the time. JTTW was then given a single release in Australia the following year, and O Holy Night a US promotional release the year after that. AIWFCIY however was released across the rest of the world as a single in 1994, and, well, we all know how that panned out don't we. |

I did some research. Although it was released as the 2nd single and a video was made, Miss You Most failed to chart. I did notice an increase of plays in retail stores in 2019 and 2020, but radio won't consider playing it. It is such beautiful song that I don't mind its sadness. |

The Art of Letting Go (103,758)
by Bill from the UK
(Sunday 15 October 2023; 10:01)
I'm sure I'm not alone in having an impending sense of dread, rather than excitement, about the upcoming Christmas concerts. At this point we know the drill. 95% lipped performances with the occasional "eh" barked out, peppered with a couple of verses being "spoken melodically" for good measure. The focus will be on the hair, make up, breasts, and shimmering gown or, heaven forbid, a return to those hideous leotards.
YouTube will be littered with comments from the delusionals saying it's live, she has a cold, she has nothing to prove, she's preserving her voice etc. That last one always gets me lol. What on earth is she preserving her voice for, if not when performing live in concert? I mean, she's been preserving her voice since 1997. It's preserved for heaven's sake.
My advice as Mariah's manager? Cancel the concerts, retire gracefully, and focus on re-releasing back catalogue specials. Start with The Rarities II You (I Lose Control, We're Not Making Love Anymore, There for Me, and Randy's Theme all should have been represented on the original), find and release your infamous demo tape so we can experience what Tommy did in the limo that fateful night, HD the crap out of the Music Box, Daydream (especially London, which I attended), Butterfly, Rainbow and Charmbracelet Tour footage, and please, seek permission from the estate of Prince to release your Glitter-era duet.
Stagger that out over the next few years with "30" releases of the studio albums as their anniversaries hit and everyone will forget about the dreadful performances of the last 10-15 years which are now greatly outweighing the good. |

Exactly. It's like Leonardo DiCaprio standing ramrod straight on a film set, mouthing phrases he uttered in films of the past. He's an actor, so he acts. Mariah's a singer, so she should sing. If she can't, come clean and sing in a comfortable range, or retire, and live off your legacy. |

Yeah, the whole My All was lipped. I'm not hating. I'm just concerned about what happened to her voice. And what do you mean by unrealistic expectations? I don't expect her to sing like in 1996. I expect her to at least sing live most of the show. Is that too much to ask? When did we get to the state when even singing live is unrealistic for Mariah. |

I know some of you all are die hard collectors and just clutched your pearls at my question. I mean it's for the nostalgia. I may be going through another move in 9 months and though I've whittled 586 CDs down to 30 in the last ten years, my Mariah collection is collecting dust. All my music is on my phone backed up by my computer. I also have the VHS and DVDs that never get touched because I can watch most of it on YouTube. You all know how much I revel in those memories of waiting out front of Sam Goody on a Tuesday morning to buy a CD. And I love the booklets. Even if I do keep them, how often am I gonna rifle through them? The rules to living minimalist is that if you don't touch it in one year, throw it away. Thoughts? |

I thought about this IDWC this morning. It kind of reminds me of WBT in 1990. I know MC and Narada disagreed during the recording of IDWC because MC kept adding vocals to what he thought was the final version. I would love to hear the two versions side by side one day. I am pretty sure Narada's version is the one on the album. By the way, I hope we hear Lose Control one day too. |
