Re: On the subject of being sexy (61,702) (61,707) by b3nP123 from United States
I understand what you mean but who are you or who am I to define what makes someone feel good about themselves? If they think they look hot and fire then cool. You know what I mean?

Credibility / sexism (61,699) by b3nP123 from United States
Arguing that because a female performs showing off her body makes her a less credible artist is ridiculous. Yes it's sexist. Like are you all 10? Women have breasts. It's life and if she likes hers more power to her. The fact that liking and showing off your body in performances and videos equates to deserving disrespect is alarming. Men have performed provocatively and not been fully clothed all the time. What's the difference? She's clearly not into sitting on a stool and singing standards while covered from neck to toes so let it be. It does no harm except for irking the sexist people who can't wrap their minds around respecting women regardless of how they dress or how much skin they show.

Sexuality (61,698) by b3nP123 from United States
Is it really a problem though if she chooses to dress less conservatively and play up the sex appeal on stage? I mean in one breath we're talking about empowering women and in the next putting her down for being comfortable in her own skin. It's not 1802 anymore, women are allowed to have a say in what they wear and how they act. I'll never have a problem with women, Mariah or others being comfortable in their own skin. Or is the issue she's not as little as before so it's not as appealing to you? Valid question.

Re: Andrew possessed by the spirit of a positive lamb? (59,108) (59,132) by b3nP123 from United States
I don't wanna come across as an attack but what's the problem with showing the life she lives? All we see are pictures and little clips so I'm not sure "flaunting" is an accurate word. And again, when you've worked like she has what's the issue with showing people what you've done? Also, do you understand how public performances for those kind of events work? She's not gonna do a deep album cut at a gala or event that's not a setting with the fans. That doesn't make sense. Of course she's gonna do Hero, Emotions, ABMB, WBT, TMB, Shake It Off etc. That's what the public knows as her most recognizable songs. Also, acting like the music she put out recently isn't good is not true. Are we gonna forget that Me. I am Mariah happened? Forget the lack of commercial success. Forget the messy era. But that album was stellar. I understand we all get frustrated, but I also feel like we get in the mindset that every single move she makes is either a step forward or a step back. That's not the case. She's a woman, mother, and star. Just let her live her life.

Re: Christmas special (58,586) (58,588) by b3nP123 from United States
Her parts aren't stellar acting but IMO it's all attitude. If you go into it looking for Oscar worthy flawless acting you'll be disappointed. But if you go into it hoping for fun and funny moments with just overall holiday festiveness it'll be ok. It's a Hallmark Christmas movie. Come on, give her a break.

Hallmark Christmas (58,569) by b3nP123 from United States
Tonight was spectacular. The movie was so fun and it made me smile and was thoroughly just fun to watch. Mariah was funny as the mean PTA mom and I relate because I know how petty all that can be. And the Christmas special? Listen. Mariah Carey's Merriest Christmas was such an excellent hour for me. She looked so great. [...] She sang some of my favorite Christmas songs and SiriRiah was hilarious. Tonight just goes to show how resilient she is. She is taking steps in the right direction and getting everything stable and together and I am so happy to see her in her element again. Mariah could've given up and left us after Rockefeller last year but she came back with a [...] this holiday season. You all it's so hard for me to articulate the joy I feel when I see Mariah succeed. She is just such a great (tbh great doesn't even describe her) musician and human being. I am just so moved by her spirit.

Negativity (58,039) by b3nP123 from United States
Ok. It's very apparent that many of you all aren't happy with what Miss Mariah Carey has been doing as of late with her career. Why? I'm not sure. When she lips at a lipped parade (common knowledge) you whine. When she wants to be active in the holiday season (movie, book, endorsements, appearances) you whine. Why can't you just be happy she's doing all of these things at all and being successful. She doesn't have to disappear for years and come back with just music if she doesn't want to. I, for one, am very excited that she's sharing the holiday season with us. As far as her being "stiff" during interviews goes, wouldn't you be "stiff" if your every move was scrutinized, even when it's a good one? Also, getting up early when you're not used to it for days in a row. Also, here's a contradiction. You all say you want her to stop being so over the top and like a diva and be relatable. But now it's she's dull and boring. Pick a side. Mariah's "diva antics" are the fun side that you all so long for right now. But whenever she's fun and funny it's not ok to be childish and act that way. I'm not saying you have to like everything she does, but someone needed to remind some of you all that this is Mariah Carey. A legend who has been in the business for a quarter of a century, not some new star whose career is on the line. She's done it all. She could just stop and hide away but she cares enough about us and music to keep giving us things to look forward to. Just keep that in mind. Stay festive.

Well if you're done I feel sorry for you. Your presence won't be missed among the Lambily lol. Me. I am Mariah... was a spectacular album and you're upset over ONE single? That's just unfortunate. Idk but to me, a fan wouldn't give up because they don't like a couple of songs, but hey we're all different I guess.

A day with Mariah (46,020) by b3nP123 from United States
I would admire her and listen to every album of hers with her. Then I'd ask her if she could give me voice lessons. Then I'd show some of the songs I've written and record them and have her teach me to produce music. Then we'd release the music and I'd be extra happy. I would move across the country to be her protege. And even though I'm a guy I still wanna be able to but high notes.

People who hate on Mariah (46,000) by b3nP123 from United States
They're so stupid. They say her newer albums are all flops. But the purpose of her newer albums haven't necessarily been to be extremely commercially successful, but to cater to the fans who love her so much. She's reached the point in her career with two diamond albums and being worth half a billion dollars where she doesn't really need the albums to be smashes like TEOM, Daydream, or Music Box. People think that anything that doesn't spawn as many number ones as she did in her early career is a failure but that just simply isn't the case. She's just chilling and living her life with her new kids like.

Memoirs vs MIAMTEC (45,985) by b3nP123 from United States
Memoirs was less musically diverse but I don't think it's fair to compare the two albums. Memoirs was very deep. MIAMTEC explored and perfectly executed multiple styles of music. I think it was great for Mariah to remix It's A Wrap with Mary J. Blige and Betcha Von' Know with R. Kelly for MIAMTEC because they were already great songs but added in more substance. She was also at two different places in her life. The only weird thing about Memoirs is that Mariah is solo in Up Out My Face and Angels Cry but in the videos she was collaborating with Nicki Minaj and Ne-Yo respectively. Make It Look Good is getting to be a new favorite for me haha. I love all the songs on MIAMTEC except for Meteorite honestly. Idk I just don't really like it that much but that's just one song. Both are great but too different to be pitted against one another.
