Re: Camouflage or Close My Eyes (71,151) (71,153) by Bill from the UK
Close My Eyes. The imagery in the lyrics is beautiful. It's haunting, soft, hopeful, poignant. Great underrated gem from the back catalogue and what made Butterfly one of her best albums.

Post-NYE (71,152) by Musti from UK
Reading all the articles since the NYE performance, I am a little concerned for the future but most of all I hope Mariah is doing well. The message about her taking a break broke my heart. I hope she's not pulling a Janet on us. She needs a break of course and if she uses this time away to refocus it could really benefit her. I find her reference to "I will explain everything later" a bit unsettling. It sounds like she was truly set up to fail, hoping to generate a Rockefeller moment for the network. She has come a long way from being untouchable to media companies trying to use her weaknesses against her. Perhaps if she focuses on her weaknesses i.e. giving "live" performances and drops divadom, she won't be targeted like this to create viral moments. I hope she finds the strength to come back from all this. Perfect time for her to rise like a phoenix once again. Nikki I agree with what you said about family. I also hope she realises she actually has a family now and that she doesn't need bloodsuckers like Stella in her life.

Camouflage or Close My Eyes (71,151) by Sheila from United States
Camouflage and those vocals for me:
Didn't we swear we'd give each other everything?
(Didn't we swear passionate heart and our love?)
Didn't I give you all of me?
No night or day goes by
When I don't wonder inside
(You still feel the way)
If you feel the way you used to feel
I camouflage my tears
And you wear your disguise
And 'round and 'round I go

If there's anything I have learned on this board, it's how much you'll learn to appreciate scrolling. I used to be like you - complaining about every comment which I felt was derogatory to Mariah in the least bit, defending her all the time, and staying positive like I was born with rose-colored contact lenses. The thing is that all the whining won't make sense or amount to anything anyway because everyone knows you have the option to just scroll through to skip what you don't want to read. Don't stress yourself. Have you seen other fan boards? How different are they from what you see here, really? I consider this board as a random sample population of all types of Mariah fans. I don't look at it based its general tone at a given time, but rather an eclectic mix of personalities where some criticize more than others, but I can assure you that every single one of the regular posters, even the most notoriously critical ones, do say something good every once in a while. To me that's enough. And despite Languishing being dedicated to fans, she knows that she (or anyone who actively pursues a career in showbiz for that matter) basically put herself out there for public scrutiny when she decided to take the path she has been on for the past 27 years. This board does need more optimistic fans like you to maintain a healthy balance, but if the perceived negativity and disrespect hits you this hard, then you're right, you do need a break.

Mariah Carey enjoys huge streaming spike (71,149) by RJJ12 from USA
So it looks like there has been new found interest in the three songs since her performance. Like one poster in the comments section said, she always wins even when she loses.

Re: Eye roll (71,125) (71,148) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
So true. I totally agree, and I'm someone who used to be one of those which you might deem "irritating eternal optimists". But like someone posted here before - if even fans as "blindly devoted" as I was back then are starting to get more critical, that's how you know something's terribly wrong. Criticism is good as long as it is not overdone and comes from a genuine place of concern.

LA Reid and J.Lo (71,147) by Nikki from usa
I went to LA Reid's social media to see if I could find any hints about MC's song. I found pics of him with J.Lo and Medina called "epicfam". He supported J.Lo's last song and a couple pics of Mariah in a collage to support his book. I was reading about what he was saying in 2014 about her not ever having a #1 again and focusing on how long she's been out and radio isn't interested in artists like her now. He also helped J.Lo "come back" with On The Floor which is a rip off of Party O' Clock. I know at the time a lot of folks thought he was just trying to take the pressure off Mariah, but I think he's being honest. I was also surprised that the real reason Mariah wanted to go back with him was also that "family" feeling she keeps talking about. It's kind of ironic in a sad way how much her family has used her, so she keeps trying to invent other families out of work who just wind up being just as leech-y. I thought LA was bad news before he signed her no money deal, which is a good indication of how much he thinks she's worth as an artist. I do hope Mariah finds what she's looking for. I just think she'd find it faster if she started with qualified professionals who have basic respect for her as an artist. Things change when you start feeling valued. I wish she'd open her own label. She could cut tracks and upload them straight to iTunes. Ok, I am just trying to get more music from her with that last one.

Walk of Fame (71,146) by Sarah from Netherlands
So somebody placed a question mark behind Mariah's name on the Walk of Fame. It's been restored, but still. Maybe it'll enlighten her team on her public perception right now.

L.A. Reid - let me guess (71,145) by Nikki from usa
The song he wants to put out is a duet with MC and Lionel Richie. It's the only thing that makes sense with them about to tour in a couple of months. If L.A. were to release a new track in 3 weeks it would be the beginning of February when Mariah will be in Dubai for their Jazz Festival before she goes on tour with Lionel. That makes no sense when she has no time to promote it unless that's what the tour is for. I really hope this isn't his next move. Reid may have approved the release of Infinity, but he also said Mariah was lucky to be on the radio. The plans he talked about for her such as a duets album is something for someone much older or nearing the end of their career. It doesn't look like Reid has any faith in her and just wants to put her out to pasture. The real trick here is that Stella thinks Mariah's audience is 12 year-olds, which makes how she's presenting her even weirder, and L.A. is trying to group her up with the ages of Bette Middler. Will the real Mariah Carey please stand up?

What if the new single is something special (71,144) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I have this feeling that LA Reid called Mariah into his office and said you really need to get a new song out in February. And you need to collaborate with Jazmine Sullivan and Darryl "DJ" Camper. It would be the first time Mariah and Jazmine Sullivan have collaborated. It would be a fresh sound. It would be nice to hear Mariah sing the way Jazmine Sullivan sings her melodies and hooks. Ooh, I am praying for something special like a Jazmine Sullivan collaboration. Radio has played Mary J. Blige's Thick Of It so much that is still #1 on the Urban Adult Contemporary chart.

Why [...] mad? (71,143) by AlwaysLoveForMariah from Usa
Clearly I'm a lot like MiMi, I also need some breaks from this place, [...] it's so negative. Like I said there is a line between disrespect and constructive criticism. And 95% of the posts here are so disrespectful. Even Mimi has noticed the [censored] lambs by saying in a few interviews (the true lambilys). What [...] guys don't understand is Mariah was not put on earth to be criticized for her every move. And why would [...] even waste time [...] a person [...] constantly [...] on. Mariah is doing so great on all of her ventures, I know the music will be great, [...] she has never disappointed me musically. I see so many fans craving for new music yet you don't even support (buy) when she actually does drops something. I truly hope Mariah continues with her much deserved break, I know I will be patiently waiting. And even though I don't love Stella, I hope she keeps her, [...] it sure looks like a lot of you are mad for it. Currently playing Bye Bye.

Re: New hit on the hands (71,113) (71,142) by RJJ12 from USA
He was only viewing her as a "legacy" artist back then, publicly stating that she should focus on just singing her hits instead of releasing new material so she did just that. With this new found "relevancy" she's obtained from the NYE performance, he sees his window of opportunity to capitalize on it. A lot of people on the board have been craving new music but forget that she's been recording for quite a while now. I agree with you that she shouldn't release anything unless it's good and she's ready to promote it. I'm wondering if it's the song she mentioned on WWHL. They asked her why she hadn't performed at the Superbowl and she said she didn't know and that she was working on a new song that she is in love with and that perhaps they should perform it then. Sony did push the heck out of Infinity and that one and Beyond CD or whatever it was called. It would be great to see them promote a really good song and new material. If she can't/wont promote it or if the song is not on par I would rather they wait.

Article: Mariah Carey enjoys some retail therapy in Beverly Hills (71,141) by Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil
Mariah was serving Glitter realness with that side-swept curly ponytail in her latest out-and-about moment in Beverly Hills. Who else realized that? And who else realized that she was all smiles in there. Honestly, I don't think her career really keeps taking hits now. This piece about promoters in Chile lodging a lawsuit in a Los Angeles court in the next few days after she cancelled a South American tour last year is, to me, just a piece. I'll let you guess of what, assured that my fellow Lambily members are smart enough to get it. C'mon. How could I have not noticed that yet? 2017 already there, trying to take MiMi away from us. Get your hence, sir. Headlines won't do anything to our girl.

Sue 2 (71,140) by Lila from United States
So apparently today Mariah, through her attorney Bryan Freedman, filed a lawsuit against Fenix Entertainment Group because FEG didn't pay her in full. There were supposed to be three payments paid: the day after contract was signed, the next month, and the last in September. The concerts were supposed to take place in October on the 28 and 30th in Argentina and Chile. According to her people, Fenix Entertainment Group were late with their payments so this entitled Mariah to cancel the concerts and be paid in full. Honestly, I can't wait to see how this plays out and see be able to see what's what. Still, if what they're claiming is true, this still seems like another situation where Mariah's on-call circus dropped the ball. If the last payment was due in September, and that's putting aside whether or not the company even paid the second one, why would you wait until a few days before the concert, which was scheduled at the end of the entire next month of October, to cancel the damn concert? I will say that I call BS on Mariah saying that she lost out on other lucrative projects that she declined because of the shows.

Re: Record label wants to put out new single (71,127) (71,139) by B from USA
I hope the song Epic is wanting to release is her collaboration with The Weeknd. Mariah's last hit was #Beautiful. It wasn't a #1 but it was a hit. No one heard You're Mine (Eternal) which was the second and last official single from MIAM. Infinity was a bonus song that did well all things considered (it actually charted on the Hot 100 and received decent reviews). Infinity was released to promote her residency and the updated rerelease of #1's which it did.

The show you described sounds great, but that will never happen because the general public wouldn't like it. They want mess so that's what Blusharella gave them. What you described is what I wanted to see and is just awesome.

I love your avatar. I had it as mine before. I wish Mariah was a fashion darling who was on the cover of Vogue instead of a reality star. She went from shading reality stars to starring in a badly scripted docuseries.

Re: Out of control (71,133) (71,136) by B from USA
My mom said months ago that Stella reminded her of Selena's manager and I brushed it off because of the resulting tragedy. Stella is or claims to be a big fan that did whatever it took to become Mariah's manager and if she really cares about Mariah the artist and person it's time she step aside and do what is in Mariah's best interests.

If the break succeeds (71,135) by Marissa from USA
Despite the fact that you can see Stella in some of Mariah's most recent paparazzi photos, for some reason I'm still getting a good feeling about this break if Mariah actually follows through with it for a while. I think her taking a break from chasing attention and followers will shine a light on the incompetence of her team. The only credit Stella has to her name is getting MC more attention, so what value will she really have when getting attention is no longer her job requirement like during this break? How useful will she be then? Don't get discouraged that you still see Stella. This break is the true test of whether she'll stick around. Also we have to consider that Stella being on Mariah's team isn't bad in and of itself. The issue is that Stella has too much power and plays too many roles even if the roles revolve around her weaknesses. Stella getting fired soon is possible but still a stretch considering how co-dependent of a relationship she and Mariah have, so we can at least hope that she will get demoted to no longer handling PR, no longer being in charge of music related projects (demoted to an extracurricular projects manager, if that's possible?) and gets her child off of Mariah's social media. That way even if she is still on the scene, she will at least be tolerable to us and not be in too big of a position to destroy Mariah's career.

Mariah's World (71,134) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Such a wasted opportunity. It really could have been the docu-series that Mariah insists it is if it were more focused on one thing such as her creative process, rather than how she goes through her posh celebrity life, because those kinds of shows are why we have the Kardashians and the Real Housewives. I get that her lifestyle may heavily influence her creative process, but at least having that focus would narrow down everything they have to cover, lessening the need to include the soapy, unconvincing, made-up storylines we have to sit through today like the gross Tanaka charade. Why not talk about actual music/performance related problems? Address her growing challenges when it comes to performing live. Shed more light on her nodules and just how unique yet fragile her vocal abilities may be. Expose her limitations and how she copes with them, with the use of backing tracks and everything (even to the extent of her admitting to lip-synching). Show her studio life, doing different takes of songs with her team. Present her dealings with the record company, or if those conversations are strictly confidential then at least show how she chooses producers to work with, her songwriting and co-producing sessions. Then if all that's still too boring then throw in a bit more of the promotion side - the different side projects and ventures she also gets into. Then intersperse scenes of her balancing being a mom and a musician/entrepreneur. Mariah's World could really have been less of the cringe-worthy reality show it is today if it actually were more candid and honest. But then again, that won't happen because Stella, for some effed-up reason, is still her manager despite her knowing absolutely nothing about the music industry. What are you hiding for, Mariah? After countless embarrassing major flubs and rumors swirling around of you not being able to sing anymore, don't you think all this pretense is already pointless? Isn't it about time you addressed these in the most honest way possible, even at the expense of risking your legacy?

Re: Article: Mariah facing huge legal battle after cancelling tour (71,102) (71,132) by Vítor Henrique Pereira from Brazil
I'm one of the Brazilian lambs who's had the show cancelled on, and I assure you they did a mass refund for all ticket holders I know/talked to here in South America. So, whoever said to you they didn't should get their refund back to the CC they used to purchase the tickets without having to do anything. Now then, if it's true that Mariah just canceled the shows because of her break up with James, being sued is just normal. That's business, my darling. Tour promoters do not care if she feels bad after a break up. Right away, she tried to blame them (maybe they really did a bad job, who knows?). Ugh. It turned into a whole freaking thing and I think there's more to it that we are not seeing. Mariah's clearly going through something very distressing because she usually gives her performances 110%, but lately she's not really been performing - it's either a lip-sync job or she doesn't turn up. Now is this legal battle going to make things even worse? I don't know. She needs to get it all sorted ASAP.

Okay so of course someone had to say, MiMi, one of my favorite people on here, that he hit the green light for Infinity. I mean, come on, everything is not going to be a grand slam, the song isn't that bad to me but it totally isn't single from new album worthy either. All in all, LA Reid has pretty good judgement seeing that he was behind a lot of her hits. Must we throw salt on everything? Damn, I agree that everything this woman does gets ripped apart to pieces. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Still love you though, kiss kiss.

Re: Record label wants to put out new single (71,123) (71,129) by Will from England
It wouldn't surprise me that Mariah has a clause somewhere in her contract, that they can't release any music with her name on it without her endorsement or support. And I'm certain that if they do release music, Mariah needs to fulfill her part of the contract, which is to promote it. Which would mean to sing live and go on media shows. The very things that are far from the forefront of her mind.
