About Haiji Toro from USA: • I have been a fan/lamb of her music since "Vision of Love" (Apollo).
• Favorite Mariah song is "Love Takes Time". I love the live version.
• Favorite Mariah album is Butterfly. I was 16 and in a tough time in my life. The song "Outside" had a great impact in my life. It opened my eyes to life. It felt relieving to hear words I've already known so well, and someone actually understood how I felt. Overall, the entire album is flawless, in my opinion.
• Favorite Mariah movie gotta be Glitter. I'm an 80's baby, so no diss, but I'm used to the corny dialogue and inexperienced acting. That movie definitely gave me a throwback vibe. It was very entertaining though and the soundtrack is very underrated.

•I'm Colombian & Palestinian, raised in the USA.
•I think I'm Mariah when in the shower.
•Spiritual, one of those "I love everyone", type of guy.

What one song from MC's catalogue would you consider to be underrated? Which song would you consider lyrically genius? Worst song ever? Lastly, if you could compile an album with only one non-single from each album, including one b-side, one bonus track, one unreleased remix and one Christmas song, what would that tracklist look like? Feel free to reply or ignore, it's all for fun. Here are my choices.
Most underrated: Butterfly
Lyrically genius: Outside
Worst ever: Infinity
Favorite compilation:
Alone In Love
And You Don't Remember

Secret project (83,507) by Haiji Toro from USA
Hello to all. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, and I haven't seen this 7 sec clip, but I'm thinking that a bed full of shoes might refer to a "Walk Away" type of video to an "aggressive" new song. I can't wait.

Re: New list (82,484) (82,488) by Haiji Toro from USA
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm a bit confused lol. Is Holey rusted metal Batman the name of the group or singer? If so, I've never heard about them nor that song. Either way, I know that feeling of when I actually remember the lyrics to songs from ages ago. What's weird is that I have moments when I play a Mariah song I haven't listened to in a while, but then I have to actually try to remember those lyrics. That happened to me the other day when I was listening to my playlist and X-Girlfriend came on. Wasn't a favorite song but I still knew the words, until recently. I also noticed the ad libs at the end, that I've never noticed before.

Re: New list (82,482) (82,487) by Haiji Toro from USA
Great list. Mid 90's is when I discovered 70's disco era. I believe it was after watching the Selena movie and hearing her versions of "Last Dance" and "On the Radio" by Donna Summer.

All great albums. I get what you mean by living in a bubble. I think that's where I'm at right now lol. I still haven't heard either Kendrick's albums but I do enjoy his music. My list is mostly albums that I had on heavy rotation, not just the albums I bought. That list would've taken longer, since I collected over 2,000 cds during the 90's lol.

Lol I understand. I couldn't even do the 2000's. Too many blurred and drunken eras for me.

Wow, I love your list Randy. We have a lot of music in common. Thank you for taking the time out in doing it as well. Funny how we both stopped after 2010.

New list (82,472) by Haiji Toro from USA
Here's my list.
1986 "Sara" by Starship is the first song I remember to ever hear, but Janet's "Control" album takes it.
1987 MJ "Bad" album
1988 Sade "Stronger Than Pride" album
1989 Madonna "Like A Prayer"
1990 Of course lol Mariah Carey's debut album
1991 Boyz II Men "Cooleyhighharmony" and MJ's "Dangerous"
1992 Prince "Love Symbol" and Madonna's "Erotica"
1993 Ace of Base "The Sign" and Whitney's "I'm Your Baby Tonight" (released 1990)
1994 TLC "CrazySexyCool", Green Day "Dookie", Selena "Amor Prohibido", Madonna "Bedtime Stories"
1995 Mary J. Blige "My Life", Boyz II Men "II", MC "Music Box" &
"Daydream", MJ "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I" and Alanis Morissette "Jagged Little Pill"
1996 MC "Daydream" (still lol), Monica "Miss Thang", 2Pac "All Eyez On Me", Selena "Dreaming Of You", Celine Dion "Falling Into You"
1997 MC "Butterfly" and basically the majority of hip hop/r&b acts/songs of that era.
I then became obsessed with MC''s music and the rest is history. 2000's music was ok. I do like Britney, Christina, some rap. 2010's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" was the only album I remember purchasing during that era. I purchased everything else she released then on and a few other songs here and there. Most music of today isn't enjoyable to listen to multiple times. What a blessing to be able to listen to any song from any era. This list was time consuming, tbh. I don't blame anyone for not posting theirs. I figured I'd do the honour since I suggested it, based on Bill's awesome idea.

Great idea. New list. Starting from earliest memory, what song or album defined each year up to 2018?

this_is_qhm, I love when you describe any album. You bring it to life. I absolutely love janet., the album, as well as the entertainer. At that time in my life, I was 12 and didn't go out to buy it until 3 years later. Although I did hear some of the songs on the radio at times, it wasn't until I purchased it, that I became so obsessed with it, that I also went out and bought the vhs with the videos and behind the scenes. That's when I discovered that Sweet'n-Lo was her then backup dancer.

Re: The chasm (81,773) (81,780) by Haiji Toro from USA
Hello Andrew, hope you're doing well in life. I'd like to share my opinions about your post and the article about it. I see why you feel the way you do about MC coming out with her dealing with bi-polar disorder. Please don't get me wrong, I consider myself a big, almost obsessed fan of hers, but I'm very aware of details in personality. I'm no mental health expert, but I have noticed throughout her career, how she tends to make comments regarding something negative she's dealing with at that moment or in her past. I do also feel, that, with that being said, those personality traits don't invalidate what she's been through. Whether it was real or not, it's her reality. It's really up to us if and how we want to take from it, not her. I do think that as any type of public figure, they should attain the responsibility to promote good health and well-being, but none of us are perfect, we "ef-up", and hopefully learn from it. The fact that she came out with this, whether it's 100% true, a cry for attention, or just a tasteless PR move, these are my thoughts on that. First, I'd like to state that I'm also proud of her because I've gone through similar things in my life, that she's spoken about going through in hers, and somehow, her speaking about it and me being a fan, helped or saved my life at that moment. Before her, I never thought anyone could ever understand me for who I truly was, but her music and interviews spoke to me as if they were designed specifically for me lol. I believe she's being honest, because I believe that her team is helping her immensely with cleaning up her life and starting her new journey. In order to release ourselves from any or all toxicity, we must face them head on. If indeed, it's a cry for attention, which this time I don't believe it is, that sounds more like a PR move from her team, maybe with assurance that it's all for good. I personally don't agree with that type of mood, but I'm sure you've heard or read about how deceiving the music industry could get, especially to make bank. You know what they say, "All publicity is good publicity." I would hope that's not the case though. (My apologies for the lengthy opinion.) Just read the latest posts on this messageboard. Look how it's affected us. She reminded us that we don't have to bottle our feelings nor our pains inside. I personally can talk forever about my pains and struggles (as you can see lol), but just reading these posts about personal struggles/mental health let's me know that I'm not alone in this and gives me hope of overcoming them. One last thing, I do believe we are all different, from one extreme to another. There are people that easily fall apart, become weak, or just give up, and those that fight full force. Some of us bottle it up and some say it like it comes to mind. We all have to face struggles. It's how we deal with them, that shows its outcome. I do also believe that when someone attains the trait of speaking so freely, their way of dealing with issues may become easier for them than for others and probably would have a different outlook and misunderstand those that react in the opposite way, almost comes off negative or disheartening. I hope you understood what I'm trying to say with all this. Just know that it's in no way coming from a negative place.

Upcoming album (81,492) by Haiji Toro from USA
Hello everyone. I've mentioned this once before and still wish for it. I'd love to hear MC's take on Tina Marie's "Out On A Limb" on her upcoming album. What do you guys think? Or what song would you rather hear her cover?

I appreciate your message, Edward. I get what you mean. I honestly didn't read the other messages, for I'm sure I would have gotten the "Mean Girls" jokes, so my apologies for being easily triggered. I think it was mainly due to me automatically putting myself in his place and remembering that feeling of being the butt of jokes to other. I do enjoy your humor when I do get to read your posts, so please don't get me wrong. Like I've stated before, I do appreciate good jokes and silly sarcasm. Please don't stop being who you are nor change for anyone. You're definitely one of very few that put a smile on my face with your posts.

Our minds work differently (81,006) by Haiji Toro from USA
Hello all. I just wanna state a couple things, feel free to skip if uninterested. Please people, let's not indulge in bullying out of fun. We all do things differently. What I can imagine is a lonely person, with a lot of time in their hands. Some of us travel, others listen to music, some read. Maybe MCArchives is his book? Maybe this site is the only family he can speak to about his feelings? Yes, I agree, why not just read them all and then post about them all in one or a couple posts? That would probably save the Webmaster some time with job, I'm just saying. Don't get me wrong, I'm all down for fun and jokes and sarcasm (I truly have love for you, Andrew, you are the truth, a little less negative feeling with it, I promise, they will get it one day).

Hello everyone (80,528) by Haiji Toro from USA
It's been a long while since I last posted but always great to see how my MC lamily are doing. I'd love to comment and drop some opinions off as I'm here. First off, I'm so happy that our girl/lady is back on track. She's looking amazing and her shine is so genuinely illuminated. Her added latest achievements are so well deserved. My suggestion for an album title would be that it strongly represents each song on the album but not the same name as any song, we'll maybe an interlude. I'd love for a concept album. So I'll try to make this a bit quick but detailed enough to also see that "vision". Ok, the album will reintroduce MC for those that may not know her story. The album would start with an intro with a baby laughing and a music box playing in the background with a few of her whistles from afar. The beginning tracks will tell her story through her lyrics and interpolations of certain genres she grew up listening to. An updated celtic sound, representing her Irish roots. Wind blowing from afar, her mother's operatic vocals, a quick flash of a sampled "The Wind Called Mariah", little girl running through a field towards church for saving, very dramatic with orchestra. Following then, a track with gospel feel and soulful lyrics and sound about childhood drama. Each song after will represent a changing moment in her life. Lyrics will speak about that moment introducing a new sound using elements of the music she listened to at that moment, ie: a fun rock track about her job hopping to pay for her dreams with elements of the movie soundtrack Grease, and so on. Song titles with words that represent her vocabulary and meaningful terms, like "Echo", "Mirage", "Darling". Which the album title would be perfectly named, "Carey the Moments". I actually came up with this idea 2 years ago and wrote it out with more details and ended up with about 22 tracks lol. Still haven't finished it. Hope you all liked my ideas and maybe even saw a similar vision. Prayers, blessings and love to all.

Happy Butterfly anniversary (78,386) by Haiji Toro from USA
Hope everyone is doing well and staying blessed. For those having to still deal with all been going on the past few months, whether it be hurricane issues or other personal stuff, my prayers are with you and your loved ones. I'd like to say, I'm feeling all types of ways for this anniversary. Mainly excitement for the vinyls and acapellas, although I wished for a bit more, but hey, I'll take whatever for now. I do wanna put out there that I myself have been working on some stuff for this anniversary. I had an idea back in February and have been nonstop working towards this special occasion. Of course, I'm no professional, so once you do check out what I have in store these next days to next few weeks, hopefully the lambs will enjoy them. I do wanna wait to see what she has coming up for it, although I believe I saw a release date in October. Not sure if I can wait that long, so if any suggestions, I'd really appreciate opinions about when I should start uploading to my YouTube account. Anyways, may you all stay well and full of faith.

RJJ12 Bryson (76,505) by Haiji Toro from USA
At first when I read your comment, I thought, "what is he talking about with some people not knowing who Bryson is" lol, but then I realized not everyone may be into music like I am, or even others. Although the majority of R&B music nowadays is trash and just remakes of the 90's, songs like "Don't" are those that still give hope for good songs in these times. I still wouldn't ever replace R&B from the 90's though. I tend to binge that era on YouTube for hours. Just yesterday, I rediscovered old favorites, like Mya "It's All About Me", Dru Hill "We're Not Making Love", Tracie Spencer "Tender Kisses", and many other artists like Xscape, Tamia, Vivian Green, Shai, well you get the point (if I were to sit here and type them, I'd be here forever lol).

Re: MC and Carlos Santana (76,475) (76,504) by Haiji Toro from USA
RJJ12, Yes, I did see the Spanish version of that commercial. I always wondered why they never worked together in the studio. My only problem with her singing in Spanish is her pronunciation. I remember being so disappointed with "MI Todo (My All)" because some of the lyrics sounded so off and didn't make sense. Then afterwards I found out that the person who wrote the interpretation, didn't teach her the correct way to pronounce the words. I'd love to hear a new song with Carlos but her singing in English and maybe some Spanish ad-libs. I love Toni's The Heat album, especially "Stupid". I believe that song was featured in the movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The Heat, to me, was very underrated. "Maybe" was and still is my favorite on that album. A lot of great and sad memories. Have you ever heard "Not a Chance"? That one was leaked as a leftover song from her album Pulse, another great album. Such an amazing song, lyrically and vocally.

Re: MC and Carlos Santana (76,404) (76,410) by Haiji Toro from USA
My favorites as well, Susana. I've been dying to make a mash-up of all three, but I suck at those lol. Have you ever heard Toni Braxton's "Spanish Guitar"? I love that song and Toni as well, but I low key wished that song had been MC's. Can you imagine if that had really happened and MC's vocals were to be on it instead?

Re: Feuds? (76,370) (76,382) by Haiji Toro from USA
D) I really wish she wouldn't, since it's so childish. Like Licia said, Clown is a great song. Obsessed is good, mainly due to the catchy hook, as well as the creative video to it, but I wish that she never had that feud with him. I think he's a very talented lyricist and they would've made a nice collaboration. My same thoughts with a Drake collaboration. The Nicki feud was a bunch of nonsense and not needed. She should've left it at "Up Out My Face" and Idol and moved on. I'm not sure how I feel about the JLo fued, since we all know what happened, or do we? I always wondered why she never made a diss song about her or the situation. I don't count Da Brat's diss verse on "Loverboy", since it wasn't MC herself addressing it. Especially since Brat's verse had absolutely nothing to do with the "Loverboy" theme. Honestly, if I was JLo, I wouldn't even care about the "I don't know her" diss. It's pure immaturity, in my opinion. I just feel that if she was really that bothered by it, then why not address it like a mature adult (like she did with Demi Lovato), or just simply move on. It's not like MC's career really failed due to that whole situation (at that point in time). The failed Glitter era happened due to overworking and bad timing (9/11), not because of JLo. Besides, if it wasn't for that fail, she wouldn't have had her infamous comeback. I believe we all need failure at some point in our lives to become better at one thing or another. I personally love Glitter (movie and soundtrack).

Great idea. I was thinking maybe she should continue the "My All" concept, like she did with "After Tonight" and "I Only Wanted". Only this time featuring Carlos Santana, as you mentioned.
