Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,654) (99,656) by Anonymous from UK
Bill, I was just following the rules about insulting messages, "being nice or leaving", and wondering why there's a level of hypocrisy that we can say what we want any woman other than Mariah? I'm not sure you or anyone here would wanna be subject to those names. But again, I'm not the problem, and you condone what you wanna condone, and I'll call out what I wanna call out.

You're literally criticising someone saying they're "too much" for "expressing their opinion or concern about someone"/others, whilst justifying that people *are* "allowed to express their opinion or concern". As you said; if you don't like what I say, then so be it. But right now you're doing what you're saying I'm too much for, whilst highlighting my call out of the double standards on this board when it comes to bitching others/not liking it when it's done to people on here. One of us is asking for basic respect for strangers, that's all. It's not a biggie.

No, I'd say degrading women we don't know is "too much", but hey, we've all different priorities when it comes to respect, eh? Some insult strangers, some insult those who call out the ones that insult strangers. I know who I'd rather be.

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,649) (99,652) by Anonymous from UK
Lady B, you're fully proving my point; You've thrown out a completely nonsense insinuation that I'm Andrew (when I've been here literal decades, and longer than both of you), just so that you can feel better when, what I'm actually doing is a) calling out others who are being nasty about strangers for no reason, something Andrew, literally, would never have done and b) highlighting the hypocrisy of what's allowed on the board. At one point, Andrew was allowed years of racism, but was thrown off because he, rightly, in my opinion, said that Mariah increased her cup size with surgery to match her larger frame. That wasn't tolerated, and was considered insulting. But literal, actual quotes about women on this board in the past week have included: The women are "superficial" and "just like a barbie doll"/"(The women) are all disgusting"/Insinuations that they're "nut cases"/That they're "stupid"/They are "dumb and opportunistic"/Insinuations that they have or are opening themselves to "sti's"/That they have "no respect for their wombs".
Insults against Nick include: Nick is "dumb and careless"/That he won't take care of his kids/he is "pathologically spreading his seed because of his mortality"/"Spreading his seed and having ten jobs are related and he must think it equals superiority or masculinity"/It's inferred he's a "clown" and "thirsty"/That he is a "psychopath"

All of the above were stated without a single bit of context or knowledge about who these people are, their decisions, their lives or relationships. But all are justified because you like Mariah's voice. If you think that any of those comments about women are justified, fair, or not thoroughly insulting, thus breaching rules of the board, then you're the problem. I'm definitely not the problem for calling it out and requesting we don't degrade women in that way.

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,633) (99,643) by Anonymous from UK
You're right, it is a message board. But it's a Mariah Carey message board. Why we're dissecting how many jobs he has, tying that into your imagined ideas of his relationship to masculinity or mortality, or why I have to read people insulting females and calling them barbies and trash, is beyond me. What's it to you? Or, more importantly, what's it got to do with Mariah? Talking about her kids father like this certainly isn't respectful, nor does it adhere to the rules of the board. Why dissect and add a negative slant to how many jobs he has when Mariahs not exactly sticking to her one job? Why disrespect strangers with slurs and gossip? And why do it based off your own ill informed judgements? Why call women barbies and trash as an insult when Mariah, at times, isn't too far from a barbie herself? Damn, she's even stood in a Barbie box in UOMF. But it's okay when Mariah has multiple jobs/stands as stiff as a doll and as bleach blonde as a barbie, but not when someone else does, I guess - not that they even did, it's just being used to disrespect them. And If it's not that serious, then I repeat my question; why ya'll repeatedly slandering and gossiping about people/topics that have nothing to do with Mariah? I come here to read about and discuss Mariah, not slander/read shit about men or women because you're obsessed with how someone's voice sounds. I'll close by saying, again, you're right: what Nick does "isn't that deep". Be nice or leave - or does that rule only apply to Andrew?

Re: Nick's sorted relationship history (99,622) (99,628) by Anonymous from UK
When you're moaning about how many jobs Nick Cannon has, then you're grasping at straws as an excuse to bitch. He has that many because he wants that many, maybe? How many does Mariah have? I can count 5, at present, that we're aware of, and she doesn't need any of them. Give it a rest everyone, it's boring, unnecessary, and literally has nothing to do with Mariah, this board, nor yourselves.

When she looks offside, she's usually looking at herself, in the monitor. A while back she made a visible effort not to do it, and was demonstrating active listening and focus, but we've slipped back into Mariah land.

Oh really, Eric?! Unfortunately - or, perhaps, fortunately - I've been away, and so have missed the birth of the Ciaran era. I'm sure it's been delightful. Andy, babes, I do have to say that given your... your "Je ne sais quoi", I'd have expected something a bit more incognito, perhaps? It doesn't hurt to make an effort.

FILAC (98,883) by Anonymous from UK
A weekend into the song, and I like it. It shoulda been relegated to the Rarities 2, maybe, or deep into an album as a non Christmas song, but objectively, as a track, I like it overall. Mariah's falsetto sounds gorgeous to me, the melody and layering are stunning, particularly on her verse, and the choir is great. The downsides for me are the production, Khalid (What's the point of his contribution? Her worst collabo to date, 100%) and Kirk himself giving us his bit at the end, but I'm not even mad at that, that's what he does. Saying that, I don't really get the point of Kirk overall. What does he do but direct?

I also don't like this non falsetto voice she's singing in. Not to open a massive vocals debate, but it sounds throaty and metallic to me, as if she's singing from her head, with strain, and then auto tuned on top? I don't know, but it's not as pleasant as she sounded last year doing lockdown stuff, so I presume it's an over laid effect. But, despite my grumbles, I enjoy it a lot more than a snowman or the star, and, as has been picked up by lambs, it's very late after tonight, and I've had moments of being taken back to the feeling of buying Rainbow upon release, so I'm grateful for a new decent track, these small blessings and nostalgic moments.

I'm not here for anything "Lets Go Brandon", but in response to your comment on American politics and foreigners, I gotta say that U.S politics do, unfortunately, affect the entire world, and it's normal for us to have a vested interest in them. The world is more of a web than ever now, and what happens in one of the major world players, especially the U.S., has consequences for us all.

Re: Mariah sang on Eminem's "Superman" (98,519) (98,520) by Anonymous from UK
That's not quite true either. Mariah and Eminem were friends, and hung out. In Blender, when promoting CB, she confirmed it by saying that she went to his house and, if my memory serves me, "jumped on his trampoline", or something equally unexpected. Something then happened for them to fall out - perhaps she did reject him further, it's the most likely considering his abuse, but no one really knows what went down between them, especially not as the story has changed since, and both Mariah and him clearly embellished facts to fit lyrics in their respective songs about each other (for example, the lyrics of "Clown" suggest they did talk and spend time together, while "Obsessed" implies it's silly to think they even met or shared activities, Eminem's lyrics are obv continuously fictional so don't need to be covered/trusted). But what is definitely known is that they did hang out on a friendship level, and Mariah did record Superman. Dina Rae has no reason to lie about that.

Re: Mariah sensationally quits Jay-Z's management company (98,094) (98,095) by Anonymous from UK
"(Mariah) has every right to demand to be Rock Nation's main priority" because she featured an already successful Jay Z on a song in 1999, and was "involved" - note, only by association - in Jay Z's promotion? Yet by your own previously posted logic, Walter, who co-wrote, produced/both 45 songs, including 7 No.1's with Mariah is owed nothing, not even acknowledgement?

Not only should Mariah not get a free pass that's not extended to others for general human behaviour, but, despite the glory days and living legend status, Mariah is owed nothing, and should expect equal treatment with those of similar popularity and investment return. If the musical entity (label/management company/etc) can't deliver that, then there will be no entity at all, as they'd bankrupt themselves promoting projects that don't cover expenditure beyond their financial worth. No entity to support artists due to financial strain then means no artists. Those considered not financially viable then struggle to get the better deals with other labels/their existing when up for renegotiation. It's not just common sense, but exactly what lead Mariah to where we are today, on more than one occasion. History teaches valuable lessons, something that Mariah and some fans often forget, to her detriment.

Re: New material (97,943) (97,947) by Anonymous from UK
Edward, I think you're right in that Andrew made some very good, thoughtful points, and I genuinely believe he contributed a lot to this board, but I don't think people being "intimated" by him had anything to do with them being unable to debate him, and more to do with the arrogance with which he garnished his responses.

For example, instead of just replying to a post directly and without bitchiness, he could never resist throwing in an insult or derogatory remark of some kind, be it an un-researched/unfounded slant on race, a projection of his own psychological beliefs, or rudely applying nicknames/"pet names" as a means to put an individual down in tone but not words (this aside from the general condescending tone in which he writes).

Combining that with his apparent general intelligence and determination to have his say/the upper hand, meant that (for me, at least) even just reading Andrews posts was emotionally exhausting at times, let alone responding to them and getting into it (take him pissing about with the Honey lyrics as an example of how he'll expend others energy just to get a laugh - and that wasn't even a negatively tainted convo).

Saying that, and coming back to the start of my post, I once said (maybe on my old account) that I don't believe Andrews intentions are genuinely nasty, nor do I think he realises what a dick he comes across as sometimes. When called out on his level, the joke stops and he, albeit rarely, accepts points, and demonstrates kindness and sensitivity, as, obviously, he is inherently a good person. But I also believe he's a product of his societal environment... to get an idea of where Andrew gets his turn of phrase/opinions, head over to dailymail.co.uk and read one of the opinion pieces. They scream Andrew - arguments with heavily subjective and biased opinions, peppered with insults towards the subject, all put together with eloquence so as to appear as factual or genuinely and objectively considered.

Either way, I know I've just contributed my 2 cents, but, to be honest, Andrew's getting far too much airtime since being ostracised, and I'm sure he's loving it, whilst watching from a VPN (Hi Hun!). Let's leave him for "The Meaning of MCArchives", although I'm sure that just like last time, we'll see him soon.

On another note; Eric, I was only thinking early this week that it's mad, and exceptional, that you've given so much of your time and energy to this project all these years. I really rate you. Thank you, as ever, for the work you put in to this community.

Re: Breakdown ad libs (97,832) (97,835) by Anonymous from UK
She says "Why d'you think it gotta be (blank) suffering?"

It's not her enunciation that's a problem there - the track is actually distorted, with the backing/layered vocals overwhelming the word she uses.

I personally presume she says "me" for the following reasons: 1. It follows the ad libbed question "how do I feel?" 2. It aligns with, and is dominated by, the layered repeated vocals at the point of "I'm suffering". 3. It's the only word that fits the sentence properly. She could have answered "How do you think it feels suffering?", it would've made more sense, and fitted the same melody, but she clearly says "why". Maybe the stems will give us an answer, if anyone has heard them. Or maybe she'll give us a stripped version with clearer vocals.

Alternately, she could be using a word like "fun", to ask a rhetorical question, as in: "Why? Do you think its gonna be fun suffering?"

Re: Best opening line (97,829) (97,830) by Anonymous from UK
Bill, I wouldn't bother explaining something that's undeniably fact. Andrew is either having you on, and wasting your time, or he actually believes what he's saying, which, if the case, makes his arrogance all that more amusing. I suspect it's the former, but either way, fact is fact and Mariah said what she said.

Thanks for this. Yeah, it's such a shame any FLAB mixes haven't been included, but I'm grateful for the "Your Girl" remixes. Again, finding it odd that we're getting instrumentals this week, but didn't last (The One, for example). And I suspect that whoever's running MC30 this year isn't the same as last. It's just that bit sloppier and not as pulled together or polished as when it started. From much more glaring remix omissions, down to the fine details; dates, layouts, text. They had to go back and re edit/reorder the entries on Spotify last week. This week, UK Spotify is currently a mess of MC30 and TEOM singles. I trust it'll get sorted, but I miss the days when her promo was polished and on point.

I stated I don't believe (the article) and, considering you were using what was written to make a point, I welcomed you prove me wrong (i.e. - actual evidence, not a gossip column). You linked me back to the gossip column (as if I'd asked you *where* you'd read it), and did so with attitude, speaking on behalf of Eric (as if that's your place). I know what a strain it is being that intelligent. How does one cope with such god given gifts? You're wasted here, clearly.
But really, I appreciate your response. I say nothing out of hatred, and genuinely see the you behind the MoS facade, as frosted as it may be, so ask that you do sincerely consider my words. Your mind is excellent, Andrew. It'd be nice if we could all enjoy it.

Re your next post about Mariah going away and working on new stuff, I couldn't agree more. Whilst I personally revel in the RnB, and actually crave a deeper dive into it, it's clear that she's metaphorically stuck in a few aspects of her career/flow and, no matter what genre, could only benefit with some fresher input and a dusting off. Unfortunately, I think it also requires a shift in psychology, and I'm not 100% she's there yet. I've faith though. I agree that momentum is what she needs right now, but the headspace to create the third magnum opus I know she's capable of requires a bit more time. Still, I'd eat up some party tracks in the meantime.

RJJ2: I don't believe Mariah put any of her own money into the Apple special. The richest company in the world, making an artist pay out her own pocket? I doubt it. In fact, she herself spoke about the benefits of working with a company like Apple for the creative and budget possibilities it bought. But I welcome you to prove me wrong.
