Here's why Demi Lovato quit Twitter and Instagram
|
Demi Lovato is quitting Twitter and Instagram after Internet users went into an uproar over some comments regarding Mariah Carey and a slew of other pop divas. Here's the backstory: Late last week, the "Stone Cold" singer went to Instagram to defend Ariana Grande from a meme that essentially called the Dangerous Woman a lesser version of Mariah Carey.
Lovato then took it a step further to explain herself, saying, "Mariah is a legend and is so talented but consistently disses people. It's nasty the way she treats Jennifer," referring to how Carey seems to continuously poke fun at once infamously saying she didn't know Jennifer Lopez. Demi said that J.Lo is "classy", but Mariah is "unnecessarily rude". Got it? K.
Those comments blew up social media and likely had Mariah's loyal fanbase in a tizzy. Today, June 21, Demi announced she was leaving Twitter and Instagram, alluding to the fact she's doing it because she spoke out on it. Before signing off, Demi did make the brilliant point that she consistently uses her star power and social media for good, but that's not what people focus on:
"But why do people actually give a [...] what I say? Like if you don't care the gtfo haha. That one time I started my own charity providing mental health care for people who can't afford it and this is what you all talk about? And people wonder what's wrong with the world. Pay more attention to good than bad."
Tell 'em, girl. Demi mentioned that she's staying on Snapchat, because she "doesn't have to see what some of you all say".

She should be the first recipient of her mental health charity. I mean, c'mon, you all know she's whack.

Demi is so desperate for attention that she couldn't stay off social media for more than 24 hours. Then why even make a big deal of leaving social media when you have zero control over yourself. She seriously has some issues and for someone who claims to be all about women empowerment and anti-bullying she sure has a need for dissing other artists (especially female) for no good reason. She started with Taylor Swift this year and called her out for giving money to Kesha instead of tweeting about sexual abuse. Girl does not have the mental capability to understand that people help in different ways and Kesha needed the money since she had legal and other bills to pay and didn't have any recent project out to finance herself. Taylor could either tweet or help with money, she made her choice. Then Demi calls out Nicki Minaj for not tagging her on her instagram. How pathetic can you get? Why are you so bothered that Nicki didn't tag you? The post was about the designer, thanking and appreciating him. Why would Nicki bother tagging Demi? She was also constantly dissing Taylor when Selena left Demi and started hanging out with Taylor. Now she calls out Mariah over a meme, baseless crap. All these just makes it look like she is desperate for attention and will be dissing other people left and right herself but lecture people on women empowerment and anti-bullying. Demi stop contradicting yourself. You are a bully.
