Empire star Jussie Smollett is dishing the details on what it's like to work with Mariah Carey, and it turns out she's was the "ultimate diva" during her appearance on the Fox drama earlier this year. Smollett spoke out about teaming up with Carey on the Fox show during a recent appearance on daytime talk show The Real, where he revealed that Mariah was a total diva on the set of Empire, but probably not in the way fans might think.

While Smollett did call Carey a "diva" on the set, it turns out the actress actually loved his time with the star after she made her guest appearance as superstar Kitty on the show earlier this year. "She was perfect! And I say this, no bull, I mean she is the ultimate diva," Jussie said of Mariah when asked about her diva antics backstage, revealing that Carey was actually pretty great to work with despite her diva label.
"The ultimate class act though," Smollett continued of Carey. "I was expecting honestly being you know an opening act... I was like, 'I'm going to get a like a quarter of the stage.' But I went there and she said, you know, 'No, have the whole stage.'"
But Jussie's gushing over Carey didn't stop there. The Empire actor then went on to call Mariah "wonderful and so genuine" following her guest starring role, adding that working with the superstar on Empire was "a blessing".
