Mariah Carey surprises fans with "The Mimi Sessions"

Mariah Carey is marking the 20th anniversary of her classic album "The Emancipation of Mimi" by releasing a collection of live performances.

"The Mimi Sessions", which is available now on YouTube, sees Carey singing "Don't Forget About Us", "Circles", "Say Somethin'", "Your Girl" and "We Belong Together". Accompanied on piano by her musical director Daniel Moore, Carey sings completely live and sounds incredible.

The performances show that Carey still has that remarkable vocal range she's known for and it could be an attempt to prove her critics wrong, after she's been accused of lip syncing at her the concerts the past couple of years. One thing's for sure - she's certainly not lip syncing in these performances!

Carey will be in the UK later this year for a series of shows, including Capital Summertime Ball and Brighton Pride. She's not toured on this side of the pond since 2019, when she came over with her "Caution" tour. It's rumoured that Carey has new music coming this year but there's nothing confirmed on that front yet.

"The Emancipation of Mimi", released in 2005, is considered one of the greatest musical comebacks of all-time. It reignited Carey's career after a rocky few years and garnered huge hits in the shape of "It's Like That", "We Belong Together", "Shake It Off" and "Don't Forget About Us".
