Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez together on stage?

Word on the street is that the MTV VMAs' producers had some other tricks up their sleeve that just didn't get a chance to come to fruition. Rumor has it that MTV was looking to have Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez unite on stage to squash their beef. The idea was for the divas to either perform solo numbers or present together.

MTV allegedly presented several ideas to their camps, and J Lo's camp apparently loved the idea. It was allegedly petty queen Mariah Carey that wasn't here for any of it. Apparently MTV spent weeks trying to convince Mariah to participate, but nothing was good enough to convince her. With this said, MTV producers were left with no choice but to scrap the idea.

Remember J Lo has repeatedly expressed that she has no problems with Mariah. It's our favorite petty songstress Mariah that just couldn't do it for the culture. This would've been epic. BET has been successful at squashing a few musical beefs on stage i.e. Trey Songz & August Alsina and K. Michelle & Tamar Braxton.

Petty? Nah, I wouldn't do it either.

See MTV this is why you struggle to remain relevant. You're willing to do everything for these 2 superstars (who clearly would rather embarrass themselves in public than be in the same room together) fake a beef-squashing that won't benefit their careers more than they would save the plummeting ratings of your senseless awards show or once great channel that has somehow oscillated into one of the trashiest networks what with your countless "reality" shows, cheap shock tactics and your propensity for giving awards to questionable recepients. I miss the MTV I grew up watching, when it used to be the coolest thing on TV.

This reek of Benny Medina. It makes Jennifer look good while shading Mariah. The public will believe this because of the I don't know her shade but it's not going to hurt Mariah's career or chances at a comeback.

this_is_qhm. I love how you got MTV together with your post. If I could give your post 100 up posts I would. Mariah has no new music to promote so why do it? MTV and Jennifer would be the only ones to benefit since JLo is promoting that horrible "Ain't Yo Mama" and MTV needs ratings for their failing awards show. Once they took away the focus on music and stopped making shows that the artists could come on, it lost its appeal. They never gave Mariah an award anyway. She only got TRL awards in 2006 for her videos going number one on their show which are voted on by the viewers. Did you see the article celebrating the anniversary of I'm Real? They finally admit that they knew Mariah sampled Firecraker as well and dismissed it in two sentences as a "coincidence" and kept it moving. JLo's team is smart. They finally addressed it as just a mere coincidence and nothing else. I wonder what Mariah's response would be to the way that story was told. JRule having access to Tommy's jet because they needed the song released asap. Why in such a hurry? They admit in the article had it not been for the remix (Mariah's ideas) Jennifer would have suffered a sophomore slump. Things that make you go give a crazy side eye.
