I bet "The Art of Letting Go" would have done well if everything with that album launch had gone according to plan and Mariah hadn't hurt herself filming the "#Beautiful" remix video. I definitely would have tossed the "One More Try" cover, "Heavenly/No Ways Tired", and those unnecessary "remixes" of "It's A Wrap" and "Betcha Gon' Know". What a missed opportunity that album was. HFIA album versions (111,169) by BFF from United States I'm very confused by the fact that Amazon is selling two versions of the album with one being slightly more expensive than the other. Is there any difference amongst the three versions of the album than the cover image? Also, I just saw that Amazon is advertising the album as having a Mariah-only version of "Sugar Sweet". Does that mean that Mariah is going to try promoting a solo version of it as a single? I honestly didn't think that Kehlani and Shenseea added much to the song but understand their inclusion as an attempt to appeal to a younger audience. Any word on a third single? This hype narrative is longer and more in depth than the one posted on the Record Store Day website for U.S. retailers. I feel MC's seven year absence since Caution and the HFIA promotion so far is going to help MC score big with critics and the news media on 09.26. Plus, I know already HFIA is a brilliant work by MC. But she's still got a lot to improve on her lipping. Celine is a great lipper, for many years people thought she's always singing live. I was honestly just smiling the whole time, I felt like her bestie hyping her up: "Go girl. Project." But yeah, to the casual viewer at home, this probably came off as stale and a little sad to watch, with her age in context. I thought the general public's sentiment would probably be, "It's time to retire." But I checked the YouTube comments, surprisingly passed the vibe check, it sounded like they are openly just accepting Mariah: "Only Mimi could walk across the stage like a robot and make it iconic." "She gives me everything and nothing at the same time, I love it." LMAO. I know Mariah is mortified of dancing because when she was a little girl, her aunt once used it as a determining factor if she was black or not. (It's so f***ed up) But I wish she could move past that. Heartbreaker-era Mariah doing choreography was so cute. I actually think she's a decent dancer, she has natural rhythm. Obviously not a showstopper but still entertaining to watch. People are accepting of her giving that little now, but maybe she can give a tiny bit more on the stage presence department. I am curious to hear it and the other songs on the demo tape. VOL capitvated me the summer of 1990. It was different. It had a gospel feel to it. VOL had some crazy runs and riffs. There was nothing on the radio at the time like it. People were asking who was this girl Mariah Carey. And then we met her on The Arsenio Hall Show and the rest is history.
