Bobby A, sadly there's probably not going to be an "HFIA" Deluxe Edition. Outside of her hardcore fans, nobody seem to care about the album. Mariah and Gamma aren't about to keep throwing money at something that isn't giving anything back. At the end of the day, Gamma is a business. It was a joint version, and both parties did what they could. You wouldn't keep pouring water into a bottomless barrel expecting it to get full, would you?
And the whole "Mariah's Christmas popularity is fading" thing? Not really. The economy is just trash right now. Everything is expensive, people are losing jobs, and most folks are just trying to survive the holidays, not spend on unnecessary things like flights and concert tickets. Competition is tough in Vegas when Mariah doesn't bring anything new to her shows.
Even with all that, Mariah's still doing her thing. Bublé's Christmas is 14 years old, Merry Christmas is 31 years old, and the fact that her album is back up at #14 (and looking to jump into the top 10 next week) is wild. That's not someone "declining", that's someone with ridiculous staying power.
I don't think she should've moved her Christmas show to Vegas. It kinda took away that warm, cozy, classic Mariah holiday vibe. It worked better when it was more intimate and easier for fans to get to. She reigned supreme at Beacon Theater for a decade and she also did great at MSG. Both venues were a train away for most people.

Bobby A I adore you, but please let's never compare Taylor to MJ. This is coming from someone who listens to Taylor's music and I too have quote how Taylor is definitely a master marketing machine. But MJ is on a league of his own and his career hasn't been matched and won't ever be matched. Beyoncé tried and failed. MJ was a phenomenon, a total powerhouse and launched a billion careers due to his influence especially at a time where there was no social media. He was pure talent, no gimmicks, no clever marketing. He was just the kind of artist we will probably never experience again. Taylor Swift is a powerhouse in her own right but I don't think she is of Michael's caliber and influence. She knows how to control the narrative and market herself and that's what works for her.

An enormous amount of country fans followed her into the pop realm because country music had become so country pop when she released her Red album. When 1989 was released, she had another million fans who just helped TS cement this pop hold she has right now. Also, you have to consider that these fans - teenagers and adults - have enormous sympathy for TS because of her recording masters fight with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records. Finally, her savy business sense to draw them to purchase the many versions of her albums and TS merchandise is something that we have never seen before by a female artist. She is the female version of Michael Jackson in 2025.

I don't think there will a deluxe version now for several reasons. HFIA faded quicker than Caution. The support from Gamma was not there two weeks after the album dropped. September 26th was just the wrong release date for HFIA. Type Dangerous was released June. Sugar Sweet was not promoted for success on the charts. Do you see what I am saying?
Also, it seems like we are seeing a decline in MC's Christmas holiday popularity. Her Christmastime shows are not selling out. Sony didn't do anything special for Merry Christmas or AIWFCIY this holiday season. Even radio airplay for AIWFCiY this year is down compared to last year. Michael Buble's Christmas is #1 on iTunes while MC's Merry Christmas is #14. Is MC's popularity during the Christmas holiday season waning?

Has anyone heard anything about what will happen in the New Year? Are there still plans to release a deluxe edition of HFIA? The Mimi Anniversary is over, so surely there will be some kind of tour dates and/or residencies planned for 2026. I still wish they had released the album a bit earlier in 2025 so it wasn't competing for attention with Celebration of Mimi and Christmas engagements.

Knowing how she MC feels now, I wonder why she allowed American Idol contestants to cover her songs when she was a judge. Anyway, since MC can't sing her songs like she used to, MC doesn't want videos of others out shining her in 2025.

That is why Mariah is saying she doesn't like other artists to cover her songs, because she can't really block them. That's her intention behind it. So she's pre-emptively discouraging other artists, especially from other artists she feels threatened.

Muni Long (112,558)
by Bobby A from United States

Hi Bill. It was in 2009 Priscillia Renea released her album, Jukebox. After that she spent a decade writing songs for other artists. She released her second album Colored in 2018 and it didn't do anything. She became increasingly frustrated that her solo career was not going anywhere. So, she signed to Def Jam Records and changed her name to Muni Long. Her first Def Jam release as Muni Long was Hrs. and Hrs. on November 19, 2021. R&B radio and listeners went crazy about the song during the 2021 holiday season. TikTok videos were made by fans and at the top of 2022, it exploded on the Hot 100 chart. It was a certified hit with every R&B and pop listener on Valentine's Day. That is the Muni Long story and why she's popular today.

Remember when he told Mariah, "I like Honey" and she was like, "I get it, don't sing your songs." She didn't take it as an insult; she just kept it respectful. She didn't react immaturely the way Muni did with such a cut-throat skit, which really can't be perceived as anything other than utter disrespect. That's the difference between them. Mariah just gets it. She was only 27/28 then, yet she was already so emotionally mature. Especially compared to Muni at 37. That was full-on mean-girl energy, and completely unnecessary. I don't think I'll see Muni in the same light ever again.

Today I have placed Caution on the same level as TEOM. It is just a feel good party record that you can play over and over again. I hope MC is rushed to record MC17 because she produces a party record when she is focused and pressured to put her music out there.

Maybe it is, Alexis. It was just a random thought while I watched Dex Dexter leave my apartment. Lol. It could happen next year because MC is long overdue reuniting with Tricky and The-Dream. Muni Long's writing partner, Ben Parris being apart of the writing session would be icing on the cake.

Muni Long what? (112,525)
by BFF from United States

The thing is, Mariah wasn't rude to Muni Long and didn't say anything negative about her. That shot of her at the awards show during the tribute was taken out of context and was soon after her mother and sister passed away. Mariah was clearly out of sorts, was trying to put on her best game face, and had no idea what she looked like on camera. She even thanked both Muni Long and Tori Kelly during her acceptance speech.
Mariah saying she doesn't like people covering her songs after the fact is not a diss. It doesn't necessarily mean she thinks Muni Long did a bad job. Maybe she doesn't like people covering her songs because it puts her on the spot to "say something nice" regardless of the quality of the cover?
Muni Long knew exactly what she was doing and got the reaction/outcome she wanted. Too bad that she's so insecure that she cannot have the focus be on her talent alone.

I would say that MC shoud fly down to Atlanta in January to work on a song with Tricky, Ben Parris, and Terius Gesteelde-diamant just for fun of it. Who knows what the writers of Delulu will come up with in the studio? Maybe something better than Delulu. I do miss the vibe of Memoirs that The-Dream and Tricky gave MC.

Muni Long seems like a typical "young" wannabe. If Mariah hadn't done this one song with her, I wouldn't know who she is. She is totally unknown here. Maybe some teens know her. Her voice is okay, but nothing special. I wish Mariah had done a song with Toni Braxton, Sade or Jessie Ware. Women with class and way more power.

Muni Long what? (112,516)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

Muni Long is known to throw shade at other artists. She threw shade at the R&B singer Lyfe Jennings about his classic song, Must Be Nice sounding resentful and bitter and not appreciative back in August. That is Lyfe's most popular song that everyone still loves today. Muni Long shading him came out of nowhere. Muni Long must have been writing her song Delulu back in August. Anyway, I just wanted to give some context to as to why now Muni Long would throw shade about comments MC made during a GQ magazine. Muni Long likes throwing shade for her own benefit. She is trying to promote her song Delulu because it has yet to debut on the Mediabase Urban AC radio chart. Her instagram shade video was not warranted for an artist who has always sang praises about Muni Long since her 2018 Colored album when she was Priscilla Renea. I don't know if I am a fan of Muni Long now.

I think he couldn't reinvent MC's career now being out of her life for so long. MC needs an up and coming business-minded CEO to manage her career. The music business is really challenging for a lot of R&B artists right now because they have managers who are not marketing the whole artist anymore. Their mindset today is to release a couple of singles for streaming success and then drop the album one year later hoping for huge album numbers. Summer Walker's Finally Over It is really suffering from this business strategy.

Some say that's tough (112,477)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
While listening to "Here For It All", I noticed a brief distortion that sounds like a sped-up, slightly warped male voice, almost the way a CD glitches for a split second. At first I thought it was just my copy, but I checked the YouTube lyric video and the distortion is there as well.
It happens right after she finishes the line: "Some say that's tough." And for some reason, once I heard it, I can't unhear it. Every time I listen, it jumps out at me.
Can any of you hear it as well? Do you think it's intentional, part of the production, or does it sound like someone saying something in the background? If you can make out what that brief sound/voice might be, I'd love to know. If you can't hear it, I think it's time for me to check my meds and get them right.

A lukewarm reception and a seven year absence (112,468)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
You know it is funny that MC has been really quiet on social media since her "It's Time" video. Her Las Vegas Christmas shows begin November 28 and she has not promoted it at all. And it was reported across multiple social media websites and ABC news that she is worried that AIWFCiY may underperform this year. Do you think MC is feeling the effects of HFIA's lukewarm sales and chart performance? Caution and its singles were still on everyone's mind for at least 6 months after the album's release. I am sure Gamma has already formally reduced MC's contract payout to get back the label's negative overhead cost for HFIA's low sales numbers. A seven year absence and the wrong choice of producers may be what caused HFIA's lukewarm sales reception. Could AiWFCIY's popularity lose its hold after this year?

It just came to my mind this evening remembering when Bruno Mars was the male version of Taylor Swift in 2013. Everything he releases becomes a Hot 100 hit.
