Mariah's dinner with Jermaine (62,277)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Mariah was spotted outside in this gorgeous red dress (sung like BGK "red dress"). This is another close up. She apparently had dinner with JD according to this video of them together. This makes me happy that they are still friends. This video and this video was posted on Jermaine's account, along with this picture.

I love that song. It's definitely underrated. What gave it away? Well whenever anyone talks about the era between "Rainbow" and "Glitter" (or in your post, breakdowns), "There For Me" is the first title that comes to my mind haha.

The Bey MC story all over again (62,260)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

So this collaboration rumor has sparked up again thanks to this picture which shows Mariah and Beyonce has an announcement. I think it's separate announcement for separate projects but by now it seems like Mariah and Beyonce's team are intentionally arranging for their names to appear side by side all the time. Haha just kidding. Oh and by the way Beyonce and Mariah wore the same Balmain dress.

Mariah at NBC Upfronts. This is her leaving for the event. She is wearing a Balmain dress with Louboutin heels. Mariah with Kenya Moore. She must have performed something at the event, I am assuming from this photo and this with Andy Cohen. This is a video from the event for E. News.

I would want the headlines to be like "Mariah finally loses her crown (cue to general public getting happy) to herself, by breaking her own record (GP sad)."

Re: Re-entering the charts? (62,231) (62,238)

"Mine Again" should have been a single off TEOM. It's a beautiful song and you can really see she was feeling all kinds of emotions on it haha. Plus like BGK, "Mine Again" was also charting on the hot 100 without being released as a single. "Faded" is also such a beautiful song, if MIAM wasn't such a messy era, it would have been at least more successful than its peak. Because some of the songs, combined with right promo and a good video, would definitely hit the charts. I know a lot of people hate "You're Mine" (and honestly I love the song, but I would have chosen other singles over that), anyways so even if YME is considered weak, one can't tell me that JLo's song "Booty" could crack the top 20 and YME couldn't? It all came down to the promotions. JLo promoted "Booty" everywhere and got it stuck in people's head (even though with all her promo her album still didn't sell well) and YME was just abandoned, not even given a fair shot. I don't doubt Mariah's ability to write good songs, but in this era, if one doesn't promote, their songs won't impact the charts.

Re: You people coming for Bey, Riri and other singers (62,218) (62,224)

You seem to have forgotten "Vision Of Love", which has launched countless careers, because a lot of the big singers today credit VOL as the song that made them decide that they want to be a singer. Examples? From current scene Beyonce, from the past Christina. Just to give 2 examples. She has touched everyone from Britney to Adele. And heck even Snoop Dogg would listen to VOL in jail. You also left out "Emotions" (which amazes people until date), her version of "I'll be there", "Dreamlover" and her iconic video of "Honey". Also let's not sit and pretend people don't know "My All". Even JLo had to say it's her favorite. I could go on, but you get my point. Also please let's discuss how these songs that Mariah made her impact with her written by her. They are deep and meaningful, not something angled just to get #1 hits out of. Rihanna may have made her mark on the music scene, but one would be delusional to claim she has made an impact of Mariah's level. I wouldn't drag Rihanna but you seem to be trying to undermine Mariah's achievements and capability with each of your posts to defend every other artist apart from the one you claim to be the biggest fan of.

"Faded" was definitely supposed to be a single. When the MIAM CD came out, some had the stickers with the words "Includes the hit singles 'Beautiful', 'Faded' and 'Thirsty". Something along that lines. It might have been "You're Mine" instead of "Thirsty" I don't know, but "Faded" was definitely on the sticker, listed as a single. Secondly Mike Will Made It was having a really successful streak in 2013 so it would make sense for her to work with him to get a hot single.

GLAAD Awards (62,190)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Mariah was honored at the GLAAD awards. Here is a picture of her on the red carpet. She looks great. This is another picture from the side. This one is quite similar to the first one but I'm adding it nonetheless for those who enjoy new pictures. Ok this one shows the back of the dress and this is her and James on the carpet. Mariah looks like a Barbie here. I love the dress, I love that she went for a wavy straight instead of stick straight hair. Her make up looks great too. This video is her acceptance speech. She was presented the award by Lee Daniels.

Don't know if it happened yet, but check back after a few years, Miss Carey will eventually get AIWFCIY to #1. Haha, but good questions though, I'd like an answer too.

I agree with Marissa. There was a reason Eric took it down. And a lot of people were asking him to take it down too. People were abusing the button. If someone doesn't agree with the other person, either express yourself, or hold on to your silence. That button is useless.

Woah that's a lot of appearances. I hope she goes on some of the well known talk shows too. Ellen, Fallon, Corden. Do some interviews plus skits. It is logical to think she will be promoting Vegas and Mariah's World, but I hope she drops a new song on us.

Re: Memoirs (62,057) (62,071)

Deedre, I love the whole laid back vibe to it. Yes some of the songs sound similar but I don't mind it, the whole thing feels like diary entries, and like a consistent story. I also like that it has a balance of more matured songs (like BGK, "The Impossible" and "It's a Wrap") and sickly sweet (in a cute way) songs (like "Insperable" and "Ribbon") and then we have the not so serious, fun, diss songs ("Obsessed" and "UOOMF"). This album is one of those that could target both the teenagers and adults. It had something for everyone. I also wouldn't put the blame of the album not working on the producers or writers. I don't think they were uninspired. The reason the album didn't work was again, its lack of proper promotions and proper videos. BGK was already charting without any promo or being released as a single. H.A.T.E.U. video did not have an interesting story line and should have been backed up almost immediately with the hot So So Def remix. UUOMF could have been bigger had they promoted it more. It was yet another messy era.
