About RJJ12 from USA: A fan since 1990. Favorite Mariah quotes, "It doesn't matter how I look, if I'm singin..." & "I can't even know what to say." I love R&B and Hip Hop, but I listen to any genre of music as long as the song is great. Love saaaanger/songwriters. I'm not a "yes" fan but I do give credit when its due.

Re: A No No No (85,563) (85,580) by RJJ12 from USA
Finally you actually like something this era. Sorry to hear you have a lot going on, I can relate. She's trying to gain the young social media audience with these non single releases because older acts have trouble getting streams. Her team must have noticed that for some reason Mariah Carey "reaction" videos of her most memorable live performances seem to be quite popular. So drop a song in the middle of the night in the middle of the week, starting with a song where "Mariah Carey" is telling someone to GTFO. Seems to be working as there seems to be a lot of reaction videos to her new music and videos this era and young people seem to be interested in her music. She can't promote right now since she is on tour so why not throw out a song and video of one of the weaker tracks that will remind the young kids if the Mariah they knew (TEOM/WBT/DFAU) growing up. "She's going back to her old roots said a young blogger - lol. WY was only sent to AC formats because it was never planned to be promoted and it's probably the only song on the album that will be played on the soccer mom radio format. Once the album is released they can drop a stronger song which is usually the second single in her case and actually send it to radio formats with larger audiences and cross promote it with her Christmas music during her holiday take over. RTD holds a special place in my heart. Someone tried to commit suicide who was very close to me not too long ago and I played them the song and it became their anthem and gave them hope and the strength to keep living. They were surprised she still wrote such emotional songs. This is random but I sat with another Chicago lamb for a gathering and they randomly mentioned you and said "Isn't he bae?" You have some admirers.

So it looks like there will be 11 songs on the Japanese version. Liron stated it is one of their favorites from the album.

Re: Irregardless (85,477) (85,502) by RJJ12 from USA
If the only part that irked me about the song. I pretended she said it's regardless. Yup, that's what she said. Ed's explanation of it being a Mean Girls reference makes perfect sense. Like her I can't even know what to say phrase. The lyrics are clever, fun, and the arrangement is catchy. I wouldn't mind this as a single at all. Throw on Lil Kim and/Cardi B on the remix.

Mimi L, I've been patiently waiting to hear a club banger/bop and I finally got one. Her voice sounds good on the track and I love the shady lyrics. My favorite part? "No no no no no no no no no. Get me Ed Shapiro (lawyer) on the phone case closed. I love this song as well. It will be on repeat all day tomorrow."

Hello beautiful (Mara). How are you these days? Hope all is well. Thanks. What’s your fav song of the four (A No No is now on iTunes) so far? What song of the six song titles are you excited to hear the most?

Re: Track list snippets (85,455) (85,497) by RJJ12 from USA
It has the hi hat that he is known for. Plus she has worked with young new producers and he would be the only one that would sample an overused sample from the 90s (Lil Kim, SWV). It works really well and it's my favorite song so far. It's available now on iTunes and her YouTube page. Looks like they are continuing to reveal songs to show she has a strong body of work and win over the young kids using social media since they only know her for her shade and "that Christmas song". This shady club kiss off is a bop and perfect for the clubs. I like all the songs so far.

Re: Voice appearance (85,466) (85,474) by RJJ12 from USA
Hello Bill. There is no deception anymore. The whole world knows she can't sing like she used to and depends on pre records. NYE exposed all of that. Everyone saw and heard that she uses pre recorded whistles on Emotions. Like I said before, everyone knows and nobody cares.

Re: Voice appearance (85,448) (85,459) by RJJ12 from USA
Randy. Why would you ask that question? Everyone already knows the answer or are you just baiting? When has she ever sung at random? Hardly ever, especially recently. She didn't in the carpool karaoke, she doesn't in interviews. It's been discussed ad nauseam. There was a whole back and forth about it on the board. Also, have you not been watching her concert videos? I figured you have most agree and have commented in a variety of ways that her voice hasn't been in good shape. This is one of her worst years vocally and she is only starting to sound better on her Asian leg of her tour. So if we all know she can't sing like she used to, hasn't sounded to great at all this year sans a few moments of brilliance, and hasn't done it in the past, why would she magically start singing perfectly now. If she struggles on stage, she's going to struggle at random. And we must have watched different shows. She gave some advice like telling the girl she wanted to hear more of her low notes because not everyone has that or the guy who struggled in the beginning when singing The Weeknds Earned It and she told him to use restraint or completed the 14 year old about her voice as nor her or their coach had any pointers they felt she needed. Her role was really pointless as she was never left alone to work with the contestants and their coaches were right there. I'd be rude to just take over or contradict the coach who has been working with them throughout the whole show. It was more of a ratings tactic for the show. And why wouldn't they say she is a vocal icon? One of the best voices alive. She never gets credit for what she has done vocally and finally every single person on that show revered her like she should always be revered instead of made out to be a diva. Just because she can't sing like she used to doesn't mean she should be stripped of being considered as one of the best who ever did it. No one, not even Mariah herself can compete with the vocals she delivered when she was during her prime. She should not only be recognized, but respected for the level of singing she brought to the table. Why should she be shunned for not vocally being what she once was. It doesn't take away for what she has already done and I'm confused why you are expecting something we know wasn't going to happen. We have all seen the concert footage this year. What she did do is drop the diva persona and presented herself as a humble icon and was able to slightly display her musicality. The show is helping her restore her image. Can't we at least celebrate people being able to see her for the musical genius that she is. There was not one "dahling" and the coaches loved and respected her. Why can't you? You never know when she might pass away. All big stars due and for once in a long time, she seems happy and safe.

I think he produced "A No No" which is my favorite of the 4 tracks so far. She is singing in her full voice/mid range and her tone is very Rainbow era on that track. The sample has been overused but the track is good.

Re: I'm in heaven (85,165) (85,175) by RJJ12 from USA
I'm pleasantly surprised by her deciding to do a contemporary pop record. She's always stayed r&b once she got artistic freedom other than Almost Home (which did nothing for me). I actually like that she is trying new sounds and co writers. There is a lot of moving parts to this song even though the beat is spare yet it all works. The simplistic hook (very non Mariah the hook queen) actually works here where the same approach on With You's hook left me underwhelmed. I like that she is strategically releasing multiple songs from the album with only one being an actual single. It brings light to songs that would have never got the light of day like any others on previous albums. I hope it gets a video, even if it's just beauty shots as long as it's well done like the last two videos. Her albums are the type where a video for every song and a innovate way to release them to the public as their own events helps bring interest to the album.

Re: Heartbreaker (85,145) (85,174) by RJJ12 from USA
So she's bashed when she lip syncs because she should just sing live and adjust the song to her current vocals and the moment the not only pulls back on the pre record and actually attempts the original notes she's bashed for sounding strained. Then again, any of her failures or ability to meet peoples expectations is just fodder for people to troll and make visceral statements for likes.

The Distance (85,018) by RJJ12 from USA
I liked it at first listen. It wasn't the club banger smash I'm waiting for, but it instantly brought a smile to my face. She doesn't have a song like this currently. It's fresh and up tempo-ish. It's pop with a hip pop beat for all of those who have been pinning for to go back to her pop roots and make a current pop record. Another happy love song. I like the lyrics and I see she chose to apply a simple chorus like With You, however it works perfectly on this track. Especially when she starts to sing in full voice at the end, her vocals float over the track. I see she is applying the f work in every track, hence the Caution angle this era. This would fit in perfectly on the radio. The release of these songs tell a story. GTFO - breakup, WY - new love, TD - love going the distance. I want to hear the rest of the album. This song has a nice replay value.

Re: Mariah: queen of the redo (84,808) (84,814) by RJJ12 from USA
Whitney would do multiple takes as well. Her pre recorded National Anthem was done in two separate takes so that she sounded more powerful as told by one of the musicians in the studio with her. Also, Mariah and Whitney did go into the studio together to sing the last part of the song in tandem. Did she studio engineer those vocals too in front of the Voice? Lol. Here is proof of otherwise. Y’all want to make Mariah come off as some fraud all these years. And the vocals from Mariah are different in this video compared to what ended up on the record. Let me guess, she dubbed the vocals in this video too - lol.

Re: AMA choreography (84,715) (84,726) by RJJ12 from USA
Tanaka gets a bad rep. He seems to care about her and refreshingly stays in the background. I wasn't to sure about him at first but I like him. Mimi seems happy and she finally wrote a happy love song instead a sad song about heartbreak. Are we getting a song on the album where Mariah moans a la Donna Summer - lmao. How about that for the same ole thing - lol.

Re: AMA / disgruntled fans sticking around (84,719) (84,722) by RJJ12 from USA
Who is giving excuses? We are saying she ain't changing so why not move on? She's done the same s&@t for a minute now. Why stick around? You don't like the new music, don't like her writing, hate her vocals on record. Y'all go on a tangent when she lips (she's been doing this since 97 as you pointed out) and guess what, she's doing it even more now and surprise, will continue to do it. Hate how she dresses even though she's been wearing mermaid dresses since 1901 and had the twins out since she bought and paid for them. None of these things are new and she isn't reverting back to a better "version" of herself. I'm convinced you all just repeat the same thing but become more visceral with every response just to get likes. She can't sing like she used to and lips all the time. Where is the sham when she got blasted for the whole world to see during NYE. Everyone knows. Nobody cares.

ENews Mariah Carey and JLo to perform at AMAs (84,579) by RJJ12 from USA
And it begins. So every once and a while I listen to With You even though the addictive GTFO still gets the most play of her new songs, but it's becoming more catchy. I love the pre chorus. So I've decided I'm going to work on being more supportive. This roll out would have never happened a year ago around this time. Just look at pictures of her last September compared to today, just saying. Things have definitely turned around for the better. I hope she does a great job tomorrow. I need to hear this album.

Re: JLo at AMAs (84,385) (84,405) by RJJ12 from USA
She sure is. It was announced on the same day With You was released that JLo is a last minute addition to perform her new single at the AMAs. It's obvious JLo is coming to steal Mariah's thunder. More than likely it's an uptempo for her to lip synch minus a few lives notes which Benny started to have her do after he managed Mariah. It's not only a rivalry between the artists but the managers as well since Melissa used to work for Benny and is his protégée. Melissa has done a great job with the roll out and booking Mariah to this high profile event. It's now up to Mariah to pull off a great televised performance if she doesn't want to be upstaged by JLo. The good thing about WY is she can pull it off live. She's going to need to add to great live belts at the end of convinciny lip some new pre records. GTFO needs to be the accoustic version because if she lips it again sans the ending add libs it will fall flat just like the iHeart performance. It was the only weak part of the performance and there will be nothing but crickets. Put the wine down now Mariah and pull through or JLo will take the shine from you.

GTFO expletive free acoustic version (84,366) by RJJ12 from USA
I don't care what anyone says, I really dig GTFO. It wasn't first single material but I wouldn't have been mad if it was the 2nd or 4th single. The hook is super catchy and I find myself going back to the song. It's what With You lacks and makes you forget about the song two seconds later. The production was fresh and the whispery vocals fit. If Mariah wants to stick it to JLo, she should perform this expletive free, acoustic version of the song. I love it, you can really hear her vocals and you don't miss the GTFO as the piano seems to capture your attention. It really gives you the feels.

With You (84,365) by RJJ12 from USA
I loved the roll out, "bad side" artistic cover, and now for the song. It's super safe and seems like this was the most universal, "mass appeal" tracks on the album. Her mid 2000 hits is the sound Ella Mai and DJ Mustard used for all her tracks. Just listen to Booed up and Trip, both top 20 hits and one song that was all over the place this summer. The only difference is, With You's hook is super simple. Which is the issue with the song. It works against it, especially when the verses are very strong. The pre chorus is so good, very pretty and the best part of the song. The "he said yooooo, I've been loving you so long, ever since that bone thugs song, you ain't got to Breakdown, you're too strong" is clever. Who else can effortlessly rhyme trepidation with nation. How can Mariah Hook Queen allow the young co-writers to follow the 2018 trend of simple hooks. It just doesn't work for this song. This song can go either way with the public. What do I think? At the eleventh hour and on the same day Mariah's single is released my tv just flashed a promotion that JLo is performing her new single at the AMAs. I'm so watching this now. If JLo comes out with a good song and killer performance and outdoes Mariah I'm going to laugh. Mariah, JLo is coming for you. Put the wine down now and you better add some full voiced belts at the end of that performance if you don't want JLo to overshadow you in the realm she excels at (performance).

Re: AMA confirmation (84,012) (84,025) by RJJ12 from USA
Forget the splash, she needs the fragrance she inhaled for her Jamaica concert. It's her best worst concert ever. I not so secretly love it. She lets loose vocally for once instead of playing it same and showing restraint, takes off her shoes, and is a bit comical on stage. Probably the best #Beautiful performance. I like how she's so into her live vocal that she forgets the pre record moments twice-lol and off were her shoes. Here are some other highlights. I prefer Cannabisriah over Pinot Mimi anyday lol.

Re: GTFO on the charts? (83,987) (83,997) by RJJ12 from USA
It was released on Thursday not Friday therefore it's only 1 days worth of data. Had they released it on Friday like most singles then it would have been a full week of numbers. The label didn't intent to put anything behind a buzz single therefore releasing it on Thursday to avoid any big name releases and get more buzz and attention as it would be part of few if any new releases. What artist is still getting #1 records 30 years into their career on a consistent basis? I'm not caring if she charts anymore as most artists today can't match the stats she accumulated on her first album, let alone career. As long as it's quality music I'm happy. Now if she actually puts in the effort Janet's currently doing, regardless of success, I'd be proud of her. GTFO has me actually excited for the next project. No more rehash from the past. A new direction which most of us have been begging for.

Re: When With You drops on October 5 (83,884) (83,903) by RJJ12 from USA
These tactics don't work or else she would have had a number 1 again a long time ago. Even if it hits #1 on iTunes that's not enough for a decent Hot 100 placement. GTFO got a remarkable response and sat at #2 for a bit before falling off. For any song to succeed the general public has to pick up on it. The first single will have to be great and she and the label will have to push and promote the hell out of it and not give up on it so easily. Songs take a while to take off these days and sometimes throwing random songs out without any push or promo become pointless. It took Havana a loooong time after its release to climb the charts but it slowly did once people heard it and hit #2 and people are still playing that song like it came out yesterday. The buzz song did its job and I"m excited for the album. Those that did hear it that aren't lambs are newly interested in her, but they will forget about it since there there is no promo as there was never any intention of pushing it unless the public started buying it like crazy.

Re: GTFO lyric help (83,886) (83,902) by RJJ12 from USA
I have been battling with it as well. I think it's wind as I too think she would have winked in the video if that was the lyric for effect. I wouldn't mind a lyric video or at least the lyrics in the album insert this time. She never gave us the lyrics to the Me I Am Mariah album like she promised she would. I'm still upset it never got a chance. A whole album. You're Mine got a decent push from her and the label but she gave up on it too soon and it wasn't the right single for spring, an uptempo would have been better suited. She could have saved that as a 4th potential single in the fall.
