About Tijl from Belgium: Enchanted by Mariah ever since 'Butterfly' dem Gucci heels in the pool!!!

Re: What if MC said my last album and my last tour (82,121) (82,132) by Tijl from Belgium
If so I do hope she will end her career on a high note with a smash album, epic videos and a farewell tour defining her as the true legend she is. She deserves to be treated as the musical genius she is. So far it looks like her new managment is slowly rebuilding her image. Hopefully the allegations made by Stella will not tarnish the strategy set out by RocNation.

No offence taken. It is an unusual name especially to those outside of Flanders.

Hey Jade, have you ever seen the performance of LNADSML at the Vogue Fashion Awards? You can find it on YouTube. It's a fun performance and Mariah looks stunning.

Re: Mariah Carey (81,775) (81,789) by Tijl from Belgium
Your piece is absolutely true and I couldn't agree more. Despite I do not always agree with Andrew I do respect and admire his poignant opinions. However, as you mentioned in your statement, trop c'est trop. On the upper side of life. I am so proud of Mariah as a human being and I am proud of the love we are sending her as the Lambily.

People magazine article (81,743) by Tijl from Belgium
In the newest issue of People Mariah opens up about one of her darkest secrets namely suffering from bipolar disorder. This clearly means she has entered a very important transitional phase of her life. I am really glad she decided to give the public a glimpse of the person behind the diva. Furthermore it does allow us to except good things happening in her career as well.

"Say Something" was filmed at the Louis Vuitton Paris store on the Champs Elysées with both Mariah and Pharrell wearing the brand.

"Infinity" contains a very quick shot of the Forever perfume and has a close-up of an Elizabeth Arden lipgloss (the company behind the Mariah perfumes).

Re: "Rainbow" era (81,543) (81,552) by Tijl from Belgium
The album cover of 'Rainbow' is by David LaChapelle who is notorious for extreme use of airbrushing and manipulated imagery. At the time his work was very much en vogue. Many pop artists and celebrities have worked with him over the years. His photography is considered art by some and gets scrutiny from others. Mariah most likely chose him to further infuriate the suits at Sony. LaChapelle is also the one responsible for the mess that was the "Loverboy" video. His work is worth to have a look into... although many consider it too kitsch and very pastiche-like. I don't mind the cover, it is very camp but than again the album is called "Rainbow".

And there you go again. Your remarks towards Jade were crude, in bad taste and very much way below your intelligence. And now these ... are you courting me Andrew ?

Re: The Mariah Outlet (81,480) (81,484) by Tijl from Belgium
It absolutely astounds me that even a generic one-sentence post about a new website provides Andrew with an opportunity to slander someone. He is the human version of a headache. Up out my face boy.

Happy anniversary to "The Roof" (81,455) by Tijl from Belgium
Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary since "The Roof" was launched as a single in Europe. This song remains my all time favourite Mariah track. The mood, composition and lyrics paint such a sensual and striking picture. The video was great with Mariah looking sexy yet demure. The fact that it reminds me of a sultry romance from my past that occured very much the same way (it was November, it was raining and there was Moet&Chandon) as described in the song only intensifies its appeal.

Re: New album (81,410) (81,414) by Tijl from Belgium
A "Confessions" styled album from Mariah would and could be epic. Something fun and upbeat without any guest rappers just for the sake of it. Launch it with a club banger accompanied by a truly great video that has a proper storyline. "Am I asking for the moon and stars here? I don't think so."

Andrew dahling, I love opinionated people with brains like you and I am an advocate for freedom of speech. I can't help but notice that you like to be a wee bit provocative by stirring things up with ill considered statements that only after retaliation from other members receive a decent elucidation. You are what we describe in Antwerp as an "allumeur". Naughty, naughty...

Andrew, the US might be a nation that has some serious issues and flaws but at least they take pride in their country and they are willing to fight for change. Do not forget that the US is the land of the free with little to no social classes resulting in the first elected black president in the history of Western civilization. Your post is tasteless and shows little respect and the constant need to be witty has failed miserably this time. By the way, how would you react if I would define the UK as simply "#brexit"?

Favorite televised performances (81,256) by Tijl from Belgium
Hello everybody, what is your list of favorite televised performances by Mariah. Mine are (in a random order):
- "Close my eyes" live at the Rosie O'Donnel show (1998). This is Mariah in her purest form without any diva attire or behaviour. A beautiful and stripped version of one of her most poignant songs.
- "Got to be real" with Patti Labelle. Mariah's cameo during "Live. One Night Only" in 1998 is pure fun and both ladies' voices blend nicely.
The TEOM era (2005) brought some fantastic and even epic performances. Everything was so much on point: Mariah's attitude was professional, fun and fabulously glamorous.
- "Shake it off" and "We belong together remix" at the 2005 MTV VMA in Miami. Mimi performs outside of the evening's venue at the National Hotel on South Beach in a set-up befitting the comeback queen. Completely OTT but absolutely fantastic.
- "It's like that" at the VH1 Save the music in NYC. The most fun I have ever seen Mimi have on stage. Great connection with the audience and one hell of an entrance.
- "We belong together" at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. It felt like an audience with the queen. Fantastic optical effect with the black and white versus Mariah in the red Armani dress. A legendary performance.
- "I'll be lovin' You long time" at the 2008 MTV Awards in Japan. Mariah is at ease and owns the stage. One of the last times she really showed why she is an absolute superstar in the firmament of pop music.

Re: Smoke and mirrors (81,167) (81,174) by Tijl from Belgium
Honestly Andrew, I am not convinced that Mariah fancies herself that much. Above all she is very insecure hence the need to hide behind an over-the-top version of "the diva", extensively airbrushed images and overtly sexy attire. I think she is still looking for acceptance and has choosen the wrong path in doing so. I can only imagine how lonely and isolated her life really is. I completely agree with you that she has become an exaggerated cardboard cut-out of her previous self but I really feel for anybody who goes through life unable to accept their flaws and understand their worth. Aren't we the lucky ones after all ?

Re: Smoke and mirrors (81,161) (81,164) by Tijl from Belgium
Hello Andrew, I get your point and I do understand and respect it. However I compared television and cinema with the music industry and not the theatre. Every actor who played at the Old Vic or any other stage for that matter will confirm how very different such a performance is compared with acting on a set were one is able to pause, erase and rewind. Mariah is a popstar, and although a rather legendary one who might have set the bar for others, she is part of a system that supports heavily on smoke and mirrors. What irritates me is that she is always getting the slack for miming or dubbing performances when every other big name in the business does it just as well.

Smoke and mirrors (81,159) by Tijl from Belgium
The debate regarding dubbed or edited performances is in full swing, once again. Have you ever considered to which degree the performances of actors are manipulated into perfection with the help of a lot a rehearsels, several takes and hours of processing in the cutting room? However, nobody ever doubted the talent of Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett nor questioned the manner in which these final perfect performances came into fruition. We'll even applaud them for receiving an Academy Award. Everything is relative and every performance by an artist can be dissected into bleakness. Let us acknowledge the genuine talent and artistry of all these amazing people that maintain relevant and respected for decades in a business that is bloody demanding.
