Sinus infection / Nick (45,932) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
PJW for some reason I didn't buy that either. And about the vocals being straight from demo, I don't believe it either. MC seems to be taking a lot of stuff out of Beyonce's interviews where she talked about her album "Beyonce". She also said that she kept vocals from the demo and we all know Mariah tried to pull a "semi-Beyonce" when releasing MIAM which backfired. Before I piss of people, I want to clarify I am aware that Mariah's album strategy was not exact copy hence "semi-Beyonce" due to the fact that she too thought that dropping the album at once will make it successful. Mariah, why lie at all? She went to the studio a million times to record and re-record, it's all up on twitter. Secondly, Christine, when I saw the interview it looked like Mariah quite blatantly ignored Nick in it (now I am not saying she did it without reason, Nick did give her plenty to be pissed about, like the ex-girlfriend scandal and the explicit sex life details). But yes, it seemed like Mariah was kind of not looking at Nick and I don't know if you noticed, but there was a point where Nick was trying to take Roc from Mariah and she just completely walked passed him without one glance. Throughout the song there are many times I caught Nick looking at Mariah and at some points the dude looked confused as to what his role exactly is in the video since him being there was almost pointless. There was no interaction between the two. They could have just not included him to avoid the awkward video.

I think it's great that you are able to always hold on to positive things even amidst a cloud of negative things. Not many of us can do that. I hope you understand that my post was not a diss, it was just my opinions and my reasons as to why I sided with JD. But yes, you are right, we all should remember what MC means to us. Trust me when I say this, I love the woman way too much. But some things she does also bothers me. That's all. Love and peace.

"Disrespected", that's exactly the word I was looking for but at the time I wrote my post I messed up. You are right, it's disrespectful to the fans that Mariah is all over twitter and instagram and even facebook, posting pictures randomly "in the pool", "in the tub", "at the subway" and all that but not a post about what the fans really wanted to know. She is one of those celebrities who is always on social media. But yet, it was JD who was posting about Mariah's work in his twitter and facebook. People go on saying JD wasn't promoting her properly and that he doesn't know what to do, however in my opinion JD was doing the best he could without having to force MC to go out and promote the album when she clearly didn't want to do it. JD was all over social media, he was on the radio, he was in magazine articles and on TV, on the red carpet talking about the album. That's the most he can do if Mariah refuses to step out and talk. Then the accusation that JD took MC to sing for a dictator, seriously? If MC wasn't aware of the situation then why not believe that JD didn't know about it too? Mariah would never perform anywhere she doesn't want to. I am not saying she willingly performed for them, I am saying if she misunderstood the situation, chances are that JD didn't know about it too. People loved MC because they could relate to her, she felt like a friend, now she has distanced herself so much, fans are finding it hard to connect.

I know you were probably giving a general remark in your post about JD and I applaud your ability to always see the good in every situation. Despite you talking in general terms, I wanted to give my opinion on why I somewhat "sided" with JD this time. Like you said, there is no official statement but the news is already out and that's what people are reading. People will see the news and draw the conclusion that JD was dumped as MC thought he was responsible for the failure. At this point I would be surprised if MC issues a statement regarding this because lately she hardly makes any statement or even addresses the fans. Everytime there is a chaos outbreak from the fans, JD was sent out to take the hit (and heat) and he was the one trying to calm fans down with hope by telling them to wait. He was the one whom fans bashed continuously to the point of saying he is piggybacking on MC for his own benefit. Why make such accusations? For all we know he did his work out of love for MC. He was attacked until he finally snapped at a fan for being too disrespectful. Not once did MC come out to calm the fans down or ask them to leave JD alone. This time also JD released the statement saying he has no bad feelings towards MC and will continue to make music with her. Which was a very polite thing to do. He is acknowledging the situation unlike MC. Now it may be the case that he is in reality pissed but chooses not to make a public scandal out of it. He is nice enough to make a statement. What really pisses me off is that all throughout this era Mariah has been doing a great job of remaining "elusive". She doesn't address the fans, she doesn't respond to their questions, she doesn't make any proper statement about anything at all whereas she is always on social media. I think JD has talked about he album more that Mariah did herself. Basically no one is trying to make Mariah look bad but Mariah should also make an effort to not let JD take all the heat about the flop, shouldn't remain quite and let people draw conclusions. All the news about her firing JD just looks like JD is an incapable manager whereas it may be the case that it simply isn't easy to handle the legendary Mariah Carey. No, I will not stop listening to her music and no I don't hate her now but yes I am upset with how she has been handling all the recent mess and not addressing her fans directly.

If Jermaine like's it then I like it (45,867) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope Mariah and JD parted ways on friendly terms. JD brought out the best in Mariah in many cases. They make really good songs. Yes Mariah can write great songs on her own but Jermaine was responsible for some memorable songs of Mariah that I personally really love. So I do hope that she has not lost him. This is another reason why friends should not be mixed in business. After Randy was fired by Mariah I don't remember seeing them together anymore. I hope we have not heard the last of "if Jermaine likes it then I like it".

JD (45,857) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So JD is gone. Whether this is good or bad only depends on Mariah actually. I personally didn't mind JD being her manager. The guy is talented as a producer and is immensely supportive of Mariah. I don't like the headlines "MC fires JD after album flop". Was the flop really JD's fault? A lot of people have been blaming JD for not promoting the album, for not being a good manager, for not getting singles right, for not delivering the album on time. But is it really JD's fault? Everytime I heard his interviews he mostly seemed annoyed and hinted that he has major plans for the album but is unable to act on it. There has many times he implied either MC or the label is not listening to him. The album delay was not his fault, MC was not happy with the finished product. The singles were not also his fault, I am more than sure he didn't get to choose it. As for the promotions, I don't think JD didn't try. Some people have mentioned here that MC is probably not promoting because she wants to spend more time with her family and her priorities changed because of kids. So JD can't obviously force her to leave her kids and promote the album. Yes Benny was good for Mariah but she only listened to him in 2005 when she needed to re-establish herself because people had written her off. But once she went back to top, Benny couldn't control her anymore, look at what happened during E=MC2. And then Benny was discarded. In the last 2 years Mariah changed 3 managers. While I agree that hiring friends as managers is not a good idea, I think Mariah really needs to let go of some control. She is an genius singer/songwriter. She can control all aspects of the conception, writing, recording, production of the album. However once the album is completed she should let go of the control a little bit and allow the professionals to handle it. Otherwise no matter who her manager is, it wouldn't matter, no one will be able to save a project which the artist itself has abandoned or misdirected. Bring on the hate messages, I don't care, it's the truth.

So here's what I hope for her tour. Firstly, I really wish she'd release and promote a single, Thirsty or YDWTD (I don't care), just any upbeat single. Go to some staple talk shows, let the world know about the album before embarking on the tour. Secondly, she has until October to rehearse. At this point, let's face it Mariah probably doesn't have time to go on vocal rests and exercises to fix her voice (I mean if her kids try to strike a conversation she can't hold up a cue card saying "run along"), so I hope she atleast rehearses lip synching properly. Yes, I do want her to sing live, but judging by recent performances I am assuming she is either having some voice issues or she is insecure that her voice has been damaged a little so she uses a track to avoid people thinking she is no longer a good singer (in my opinion she still is the greatest). This tactic has backfired one too many times. So if she chooses to lip synch she needs to do two things: 1) Record a different version of the song and use it. 2) Practice really hard so that the miming is not evident. If she chooses to sing live she should also change up the songs a little to suit live performances because let's be real, it's very difficult to sound as good as one's studio version. Thirdly, I really hope she uses the stage a little more. Dance around, play around or at the very least walk. Last but not least, keep them outfits sexy but classy. (Like the Meteorite one.)

Meteorite (45,784) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
What a disappointment. I never really got into this song but I know a lot of fans love it. What was she doing? She was standing so stiff, not a single move, not even a hip sway. The singing was definitely not live, it was basically the album version playing and at the end she added a whistle. I don't have a problem if she lip synchs, just make it believable, put an effort to maybe lip synch to a slightly different version than the original. And since she was lip synching she could have at least moved around the stage. Bust a move or two. Just simple moving around would do like FLAB at Grammys. Where is the energy? If she can't dance in heels anymore just leave it and wear something comfortable. She looked good, the dress was sexy without being vulgar, everything was going good. But the performance was bad.

TJ (45,745) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Does it always start with Heartbreaker? If I remember correctly for TAOM it started with ILT and ended with WBT and when she walked out, Butterfly was played as outro. Not the whole song. And Butterfly tour started with Emotions. But it always ends with the Butterfly outro. I haven't seen any world tour personally, I just saw the videos of the tour. Anyways but you are right, it would be nice to have her change up the routine. Especially now since she has 3 albums which were not performed live much. She can let go of some of the older songs for now. I think one reason she doesn't let go of those songs in the set list is because she doesn't want to disappoint the fans who love the Mariah classics like she mentioned in a few interviews when talking about choosing set lists. However she has a lot of new material and it would be nice if those are given more priority since adding older songs leaves limited spots for newer ones.

Rude much? I didn't call Katy a saint. Check out my previous posts where I said that Katy has a habit of picking one sided fights with others to stay in the news. Which was in reference to the throwback comment and I was also one of the people who said that Katy indeed was being mean about Mariah in the throwback comment. All I said now is that in this music video, she didn't make fun of Mariah like we expected. Because it was rumoured to be a offensive. But all I got from the video was Katy saying she and her friends sucked at Mariah karaokes and a look alike impersonating Mariah, which was also not an offensive impersonation because Mariah does that move a lot in her videos, the "slight bend and touch" thing I mean. And they chose a person with a figure similar to Mariah's TEOM gig. You should know by now that nowadays Mariah parodies end up being very disrespectful like they saying she is "old" or using a heavy impersonator to make fun of her weight or to make fun of her cleavage display. In the Ariana Problem parodies, there are atleast 2 were Mariah has been brought up and in both case she was either called "82 years old" or "grandma". So comparatively this video was not offensive at all.

The drama (45,707) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So all the rumors about Katy hiring a drag queen to make fun of Mariah got us all angry, however it turns out Katy is actually just praising Mariah, singing "day drinking at wildcats and sucking at Mariah karaoke". So we can all put down the flaming torches now. And I don't know if the person she used is a drag queen or not because it comes on screen for a split second and is so illuminated with lights that her face isn't quite visible. But the person pulls a good Mariah, with the TEOM figure and hair (long curls) and doing a little "touching of the body". So yes basically it's more of a shout out to Mariah's great voice than a diss. I guess the rumors were probably intentionally distributed to gain attention for the single. A few days back Mariah's YouTube page "liked" the lyrics video of the same song and I was like why would she do that when Katy is rumored to be dissing her, but oh well now we know. Mariah probably approves of the praise.

Hey where did you hear about the relaunch? I can't seem to find it anywhere. If she did tweet it, I wonder why she deleted it. If she does relaunch it, I will be happy. I was not being able to digest the fact that Mariah is letting her (what critics and fans are calling one of her greatest albums) just die out without trying to save it. But if she does give it another shot and this time do it right, with videos shot on time and appearances lined up and good performances (live or atleast lipped without getting caught), I'll be happy. I am glad Thirsty is the next single. I like the song and it might be popular.

Don't let people tell you what you should feel. Be it positive or negative, you are entitled to your opinions. So yes, you shouldn't feel the need to say what you think people want. You seem like a very sweet person and it's evident you love Mariah, that's all that matters. We sometimes criticize our loved ones not out of hatred but because we want the best for them, we want them to get a reality check so it's completely fine if you find faults in Mariah, she is human too. Nobody is flawless. At the same time it's fine for you to keep a positive attitude. Basically what I want to say is, don't listen to others. You should be free to express whatever opinions you have.

Next album (45,631) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't think we'll need to wait long for the next album to drop. I have a strong feeling she'll release it next year to mark her 25th year in the business. It's a great opportunity and will give her the chance to quickly get people's mind off the disaster (that is Chanteuse) by ensuring the next one becomes a success. Although it seems like it's all over for Chanteuse, I still hope there is something more to come. Atleast the video for YDKWTD.

Spreading some love (45,599) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Can we all just take a moment and gush at the pictures of Mariah at the premier and the selfies she posted? She looks great. She is now looking like she did in 2005. Healthy and extremely glamorous and ofcourse gorgeous. I am so happy for her. Although she always looks good no matter what size, but she is insecure and I hope now she is feeling better about herself. I see the gloves have come off finally. They were fun for a while (the long ones only) but I can't say I miss them. The dress is sexy and not tacky. The necklace she is wearing is the same she sported in 2005. Hair looks great. She looks radiant and fresh. No where near 44. Mariah, "ah-ah you're beautiful".

I love your idea for Money. Mine was actually really similar including the shopping and vacation part. But instead of a helicopter I had a private jet in mind and instead of the cut scenes being of her like the Bye Bye video (where she is on stage) I was thinking of the cut scenes being like the Honey remix (like she was with Diddy and Mase in the golden honey tunnel, dancing around like where she was wearing the brown crop top and skirt in your display picture) so she could be in another setting with Fabolous and Mike will and dance around with them, bumping and bouncing to the chorus and some rap parts. And at the end when Fabulous says "take your money" they she could throw a wad of cash at the camera and walk away.

Man, the Katy quote was real. Now I don't know if she is actually trying to sabotage Mariah's career, but the throwback comment was a diss. I remember reading it and thought it was probably taken out of context but I watched the interview and she meant it in a mean way and once she said that people around her chuckled a little and she was like enjoying it. Katy has a habit of picking fights with people even when the other party doesn't provoke her (or care for her either). She has done it with Gaga, Miley, Rihanna, and many others. She says controversial stuff to stay relevant because honestly her songs (even though she is a somewhat decent singer) are like the kind of songs which will come, get real popular for the season and then it falls off the face of the earth (unlike Mariah or Michael or Whitney whose songs to on to become classics). So Katy needs to stay in the news by picking up one sided fights with other celebs.

Yes. You are absolutely right, I completely forgot about the Cameron Diaz song. I think it was also partly inspired by the Jessica Rabbit one. But yes, I meant the same setting, the club like one. Where her love interest would come and she would be on stage performing and dancing with cutscenes of her on a piano like you mentioned. She can get down from the stage and sing around the guy too. Lol we should send this idea to Mariah.

Haha, my ideas for Money are also very cheesy. The song is a cheesy one so it's not surprising. But I really enjoy the song, everyone sounds like they are having fun in it. As for MILG, yes the piano would go nicely with the 60s theme. She could also have some cut scenes doing a few sultry slow dance moves while singing, on a stage in a club like setting while her love interest looks on. Have you seen the Jessica Rabbit "Why don't you do right?" song? Something similar but definitely a little dialed down and a little more clothing. Since MILG is such a sultry song and we all know Mariah loves looking sexy, she can do the video like this instead of sitting in one place and looking at the camera all the time.

I do that too. All the time. Especially with Mariah's songs. Currently I have been trying to think up a good one for Money. It's such a fun song. And Make It Look Good always gives me old Hollywood feel for some reason. It would be great if it had a black and white of Mariah in 60's make up and hair and clothing.

She did mention something along those lines. Also she keeps saying she sequenced the album to tell a story, she emphasized in the sequencing a lot. And she said that this album represents her journey of the past 4 years. I don't remember exact quotes at the moment but I am sure she did say these. I agree with your theory that it may be about her feeling scared of being hurt in love again. She may be feeling insecure now about nick and all. The miscarriage idea, is not something I think she touched on in this album. She has not one but two great kids whereas she probably thought she never would be able to have kids anymore. So I think that the miscarriage is way in her past now. By the way I forgot to mention this earlier but your idea of the Thirsty video was brilliant. I remember reading it and while I was mid way I was like I don't think Mariah would ever do it (like showing she is at home while nick is partying it up) for self image issues. But when I go to the twist at the end that they will be laughing about it and it was all a joke, I was like wow that's brilliant. I love it when Mariah is easy going and doesn't mind being funny in videos like obsessed and TMB and even SIO.

One More Try (45,497) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I just want to start off by saying that I really found the theory of it being about her pregnancy quite amazing. I would never have landed on that. So whoever thought of it, really good point. However I personally don't think it's about the miscarriage. 1) She said this album is a journey since she last left (that will be Memoirs). Her miscarriage was in 2008. 2) Mariah has given special mention to songs like Cry, Thirsty and all but never really talked abt OMT. If it was about the baby she would have atleast said the song is close my heart or something. 3) The lyrics can't be taken literally, it's not written by her so maybe there actually is no hidden meaning, she's just doing her version of it. 4) She had a miscarriage but after that had two beautiful babies, now I may be wrong here but I think two beautiful healthy children is like to have helped her get over her previous tragedy (like I said, I may be wrong). So these are just my two cents. Also Money may be about Nick but it's not in a negative way because she sings "They don't mean a thing because I come home to you at the end of the day." So it's a happy song, talking about how she doesn't need money because she comes home to her lover or maybe dembabies. So yes it's not negative. Also if it was something as sensitive as her miscarriage, I think Mariah would have penned her own song, instead of using another singer's song for it.
