Infinity / a message for Mariah (52,239) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter After what seemed like eternity, we are finally close to Infinity (ooh that rhymes). I cannot wait. I'd like to add another MC reference: I'm scared and I'm nervous, I don't wanna be hurt, this bad because I want infinity to be #1. Haha. As excited as I am, I'll admit I am very nervous because a lot of hype has gone into this one song/video. It's almost like a return for Mariah and everything needs to go well. Since we are a day away from the release, I think we might get a message from Mariah or some details. I just want to wish Mariah all the best. Since it's like a celebration for her 25th year and her rebirth, I just want to say that Mariah, I love you and I appreciate you and your music. Just stay strong, keep your head up high, go all out for this song and Vegas and even then if it doesn't work out at least you will never have to regret because you gave it your all. You are a true legend and you touched lives of millions of people around the world. You're music truly heals people and that's something no one can take away from you. You'll always be my icon. Luke / Bianca's return (52,238) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I would love the return of Bianca. MC was one of the first musicians to have an "alter ego" and a name for her fan base. She truly is an innovator. I loved the little Bianca/Mariah interview skit during the Rainbow era. MC is actually a good actress. She seemed genuinely amazed by how ignorant and rude "Bianca" is. Nowadays videos are really important for the song's success. This had better be a good video. I'm hopeful about it because MC and Brett are very confident about it. MC needs to completely stop doing videos that seems like a BTS for magazine shoots, of her only touching herself throughout the length of the video and sitting in one place. I'm not saying MC should be banned from touching herself haha but it should be done in moderation like in We Belong Together and It's Like That. We don't need another YM(E), which by the way could have been a great video because the backdrop was gorgeous. MC just needed to walk around man. (Sunday 26 April 2015; 12:01)

It's a rumor so I don't know about it's authenticity but rooftop plus dangerous stunts "rumors" are getting me really excited. The last videos with any stunts were Honey and Heartbreaker. Why do I get a feeling this video might include a helicopter too? (Sunday 26 April 2015; 0:33)

Kate (52,215) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten about that horrid photo shoot. It did her no good. The shots were really bad minus the cover photo. And just today someone reminded me about the extreme low budget (or absolutely no budget) video for Auld Lang Syne. I know someone here said they like the video. Look, I love MC but that video was horrid (all caps). I can't imagine how humiliated MC must have felt shooting for that video especially when she is used to getting big budgets for her videos. I think "burden" is the best way to describe their feelings towards Mariah. After Reid left, no one gave a crap about her. I think at one point both parties were just releasing albums to get done with the contract. I feel bad for blaming the lack of promotions completely on MC. I mean, yes she might be blamed partially, but I guess it's not easy to go from being the star, to a "burden" where you clearly get the vibe that you are not quite welcome here and that they'd much rather spend money on new and fresher "talents" (if one can call them talents, that is). Epic / Sony (52,201) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I absolutely love the fact that Sony is backing up Mariah and that too quite strongly. From tweeting about her to staging social event reveals and keeping a the mystery around the new single. They are treating Mariah the way Mariah needs to be treated. IDJ on the other hand was treating Mariah like she was a burden. Which I think ultimately lead Mariah to lose confidence and give up on her projects. This is just a compilation album and yet it is getting more attention than her past few studio albums. I am so happy for Mariah. Epic seems to understand that they have a gem in their hands. Today's generation grew up listening to crap in the name of music. Mariah can change that. Only she (apart from the legendary King of Pop) has the ability to introduce this generation to great music even after so many years. (Saturday 25 April 2015; 10:43)

MC on shows (52,080) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter So MC is definitely appearing on Kimmel and Kelly & Michael in May. We are slowly getting details of their promotion plans. With it starting from the major event planned for the release date of Infinity. I wonder what the event will be like. A meet and greet? First performance of Infinity? About Migrate (52,062) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I always thought that MC wanted Migrate to be released but the label made the wrong call, but a while back I was going through the archives on MCA (duh) and I found an article which kind of shows maybe MC never planned to release Migrate. I don't remember the exact details, but the interviewer was like "Migrate is not that unique or great or whatever" and Mariah went something like "ofcourse Migrate won't be released as a single". So that kind of made me like What? Mariah are you for real? Lol Migrate would have eaten the charts up. (Monday 20 April 2015; 11:14)

TheOne (52,061) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to Vegas. I too am from Asia and as much as I want to go, I can't make it this time. You are right about the songs you mentioned and yes Migrate managed to chart on Billboard even without getting the single treatment and the same happened with Mine Again (in the R&B category). Mariah can come up with club bangers so effortlessly, without looking like she is trying hard and it just never fails to amaze me. There are many missed opportunities in her career and it will always bother me. I'm selfish when it comes to Mariah. I always want her to be on top and respected as the musical genius she is. And a belated welcome to the message board, I hope to read more of your posts in future. As for SIO, yes I know WBT was blocking SIO so SIO didn't get its chance and I also agree that had It been released a bt later, it definitely would have gone to #1. Nothing could have stopped it. Even Mariah knew that SIO was a hit because she said something like "no one could tell me that SIO wouldn't be my first single". But then they decided to start the era with a party mood and ILT was perfect for it. So yes. SIO and Migrate (had it gotten the single treatment) could have gotten MC 2 more #1's. I think any single from E=MC2 would have greatly benefitted from the huge boost of the success of TEOM, WBT and TMB. But then Mc decided to elope. Oh. The pain haha. With all the tidbits we have heard recently about the song, it does sound like a revamped SIO. 1) Her singing fast on the verse. 2) A memorable hook. 3) A sad story line but funny lyrics (sad because MC was cheated on by her love interest in SIO). 4) The note at the end. It always bothered me that SIO didn't get a chance to top the charts. The song is and has always been a favourite of mine. Everything from the lyrics to the beat to the production, the video, the storyline was perfection. So this might be SIO's kid coming for vengeance haha. Ok lame, but you get what I mean. May (52,004) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Hey there. I am glad you agree. I know a lot of people might be like no Nick is the best that could have happened to Mariah. I only learned to like Nick because MC seemed to be happy with him. But as time went by, MC seemed more and more miserable. Starting with the Barbara interview, where she says she "trusts him sometimes" and then saying that "he's nice when he is good". Then came a phase where she looked completely miserable, and it looked like she was super depressed and kept calling Nick "the abandoner". As for Nick dating other women. I am not opposed to the idea of him dating. Why shouldn't he? He is young and they are separated. They both deserve other shots at happiness. I might not have been clear in my post before, I was referring to a specific video of his that surfaced which showed three scantily clad women, taking turns twerking on him. That bothered me. I think he should be a little more respectable and that's not the behavior MC deserves, if he ever had the intention of working things out with her. There is nothing wrong with either of them dating other people. But none of them are in their 20s anymore, so keep the twerking and dirty dancing with half naked people at bay. Their kids shouldn't have to grow up seeing their dad or mom in that position. (Saturday 18 April 2015; 16:50)

Usually every time MC releases a song, the board divides into two parts, one loving the song, one not feeling it so much. There is a very good chance some people will disagree with you, but don't let that stop you from voicing your opinions. Not everyone will think alike. I agree with you about Nick. I'm sorry, I can't deal with Nick. I would love for MC to have a happy ending, but I don't know if Nick is that person. She has spent the better part of last year being miserable in her personal life, feeling abandoned and drinking which led to her mumbling non sense in most of her interviews. It went on for a while but finally MC seems to have come to terms with her personal life and seems happy and healthy so I don't like the idea of Nick sashaying in and ruining it again. I also find it disrespectful that he was grinding around with women and being seen with so many girls right after they announced their separation. Some might say he has the right to live his life and yes he does but after that, I don't like the idea of him coming back to MC and making her miserable again. I usually would like for people to work out their issues but with Nick, it just doesn't seem worth it. He is a father now and father's don't go around grinding with various women. I have said this before, it's not like MC is a saint, she has her flaws too. But yeah as of now I'd like her to focus on herself and being healthy. (Saturday 18 April 2015; 10:12)
