About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

this_is_qhm (51,954) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh wow that's a brilliant idea. I never thought of that. In my mind I always had a vision for FTR, where she would recreate some scenes in the part she mentions her previous songs. Like when she says "you'll always be a part of me" she'd do the be doing the scene from the black and white remix version, where she holds her toupee and nods. Then "I didn't give my all to you" will show her in a recreation of the overturned board. Then there will be the halter neck dress scene from WBT and finally when she yells "honey" she'll do the head/hair black flip she does in the video. It's confusing and I can't explain it in writing sorry. But your idea is brilliant. I would love it if she does it. I'm a little worried about the video because I thought she already has it ready.

If you are talking about the album, it was not pushed back. The official press release always said it would be May 18th. There was a rumor that the release date is May 6th but Mariah's team never confirmed that.

The CD (51,945) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The disc says "Disc 1". Does that imply there are more discs?

SIO and DFAU (51,928) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Can someone please give me a list of the hidden messages in these two videos? I have heard many times that these two videos are filled with hidden messages and inside jokes. I think I got some in SIO. But none in DFAU, unless ofcourse the Marilyn scene is what they are talking about. Anyways can anyone give me a full run down of the hidden messages from these two videos?

L.H. (51,927) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I loved that part in for the record where she mentions her previous songs in such a brilliant way. I always wanted her to do a video where she recreates some of her most iconic looks in it. Obviously she has way too many to fit into one video, but she can pick and choose. The outifts I would love to see a modern take on would be:
1) The flannel shirt and denim shorts
2) The iconic MC little black dress
3) The heartbreaker jeans
4) Any outfit from Honey
5) The halter neck long gown scene from WBT
6) The Loverboy hot pink jumpsuit
7) The gold ensemble from Breakdown
Yes all of these can't fit into one, but hey she can pick and choose.

Infinity the next #1 (51,919) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I swear if I was Mariah I would be going into hiding about now. I don't know how she does it. The song hasn't even been released, heck we don't even have a snippet and the internet is abuzz with talks about this being her next #1. Don't get me wrong, I am not judging, in fact I, myself seem to get the feeling that it might be a #1 or at least crack top 10 because Sony and MC seems determined. But yes, back to Mariah. I would get cold feet if I was her and the internet was so alight with high expectations from a song I didn't even release a snippet of yet, no matter how confident I was about the song. I mean I could have had We Belong Together in my hands and still tremble at the thought of disappointing people. I know she is confident about the new song, but to see the internet calling it her next #1 without knowing anything about the song is nerve wrecking because the expectations are so high (and Lord knows what we are expecting), she might get nervous about the reaction when she actually releases it. I'm sure it'll be a great song though. But just saying, if I was Mariah I would be hiding somewhere and be like "No shut it down, we ain't releasing nothing." But then again, maybe that is why I am me and she is the queen.

Thank you so much. I do write a lot of mindless things, haha. This site is like a journal for me where I put in an entries about Mariah related stuff that comes to my mind. I am glad to hear you like it. And I adore your posts. What's your thought about the new era? As for Uptown Funk, Bruno always tends to give me a MJ, James Brown vibe in his songs, that's probably because he is influenced by them strongly. I heard he used to impersonate MJ back in the day, so maybe he ends up copying him a lot as a result in his own work. What I love about Uptown Funk is that it makes you want to get up and bust a move especially at the clapping parts and the music that comes right after "don't believe me just watch". It's a fun song, I never did think it will stay on top for so long though. Keep posting. Sending some love and hugs.

Music video (51,914) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The article says that she'll film the video this weekend. Wasn't the video supposedly already shot? Didn't MC yell over the radio when Brett called in, to say the video will blow our minds? I don't get it. A last minute video is scary to me. I don't want a rushed edit job.

Infinity (51,912) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So after going through the net for hours, and reading "reviews" from people who claim to have heard the song, I am more confused. At one point they say it's a funny, upbeat, feel good song with her singing fast. The other says its a sad yet catchy song. There have been one claim of a Mariah laugh heard in the song and also multiple people have said she holds a long note at the end. So what is it? A "Touch my body" meets "Side effects"? Both have the verses where she speaks fast. "Side effects" have the sad lyrics with the uplifting chorus, "Touch my body" is fun through and through, I love both the songs, but I don't know what they'll sound if they had a baby. Anyways, I'll try not to read too much into these rumors.

Infinity (51,908) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Carrying out my daily morning investigation of Infinity and savoring every little info (rumor or confirmed) about the song. We now have the name of at least one of the co-writers and a rumored story line for the song.

Now what is this supposed to mean? I found it on twitter. The song is funny? I am more intrigued now. No I can't wait. *yells* Mariah. Dont play with me girl (like the frustrated lamb video).

Infinity (51,894) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So by now it seems like Sony thinks that Mariah may get her 19th #1 from Infinity. The fact that Infinity is the only new track on the #1's album kind of shows that they don't think they need a second track to bridge Mariah's career over to the next era. Plus a lot of thought must have gone into finalizing this song as the perfect one to be Mariah's rebirth or the song worthy to kick off/solidify Mariah's 25th year in the business. All these kind of makes me wonder even more about what this mysterious song really sounds like. It must be really that good for both Mariah and her label to think it's a hit. I wonder what promotion plan they have for it. Her show will start just a few days after the single debut. So I was curious what their promo plans looks like. I also wonder what the single cover will be. Yes I am wondering a lot nowadays. April 27th seems years away.

Mariah (51,884) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am imaging this scene (Mariah's reaction to the news of Bruno Mars falling to #2). MC standing with a champagne flute in her hand, she looks at the screen with the headline "No record for Uptown Funk", she raises her eyebrows while shrugging and says "They try but fail, every darn time." Then she takes a sip of the champagne, turns around and walks away singing slowly under her breath "uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up".

God bless Paul Walker (51,879) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
He just saved Mariah from getting dethroned. I just let out a squeal. See You Again has knocked down Uptown Funk. UF can now hang out with WBT, we still own the top position. Yes we, because Mariah wouldn't be Mariah without her fans.

I need it, need it, need it (51,870) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
If Mariah really meant that I can have her when I want her, then now will be the time, I want a snippet of the new single from her. (I am a girl, but so what?)

Thanks for sharing the Make It Happen compilation. I was doing a little soul searching (well not really) and I realized that starting from 1990 (when MC debuted and so did I, well the year of my birth whatever), if I add up the number of times MC ran around on stage to tone that body and shook her hands (for the double purpose of showing emotions while singing and at the same time to tone them arms), it's still more work out than I have done in my entire life.

Photoshop (51,867) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
All the new outlets photoshop shaming Mariah should just calm the fudge down. What's funny is that in order to compare the album cover versus "real body" images, they'll always pick the image where she is looking on her chubbier side and then run with it. They are comparing it with pictures from the Elusive Chanteuse shows gold mini dress (which was unflattering on its own) then the pictures from her Butterfly drink launch and the hideous dress she wore for the Chanteuse show (the gun metal off shouldered one). Then out of the many gorgeous shots of her singing at recent charity gala, they managed to pic one up where she seems to have a little bulge in the stomach region (which in all honesty can just be her dress bunched up at the stomach because she is kneeling) and compare it with the cover. Why don't they do a side by side of the picture of Mariah at the City of Hope gala just few days back wearing the gorgeous black dress? She looks really slim there. While her cover did get photoshopped, it's not as much as people are blowing it up to be. She's standing at an angle, she has good lighting and the cut outs at her waist add to the illusion of a slimmer waist. After all these effects. there's the additional photshopping. I don't get why people are blowing it up in a way that she has photoshopped away a 100 pounds

Supafly (51,866) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Your post about Mariah coming with the new single to kick Uptown Funk out and defend her chart position gave me the chills somehow. I really like Uptown Funk, I do, and I was rooting for it to stay at #1 because I was scared Rihanna will collect one more with "FourFiveSeconds", but that was way before and I never thought that UF will potentially dethrone OSD. Like someone mentioned, I really wish MC doesn't lose any of her records, at least this year. So your post kind of made me visualize this scene. Bruno and his posse (along with Mark) dancing in the UF video, when the part that they say "stop, wait a minute" comes around. Only this time, instead of Bruno it's MC who says that and she walks into the scene and snatches Bruno's hat, throws it and her new song starts. Haha. At the end, she goes like "bow down to the queen". It's kiddish I know, but hey.

European lambs (51,831) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Are you all excited about Mariah including her European number 1s on the European version of the album. From what I read TGIFY, Someday and IDWTC have been replaced by Endless Love, Against All Odds and Without You. Is it a yay or nay for you all?

Hey, so basically there is just one line about it saying "Included as the final track on the collection is Mariah’s breathtaking new single, “Infinity” (co-written and produced by Mariah)." I don't know if the "breathtaking" comment is from Billboard though because the article I found was on Mariah's website and there are no sources mentioned. The article is also included in this site (MCA) and it also cites Mariah's website as the source. The article I found on Billboard does not use that word.

We belong together (51,825) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Was there ever a "making of the video" or "behind the scenes" of We Belong Together? I remember watching the ones for all the other singles from TEOM apart from WBT back when the album came out. So I recently searched for the WBT one but could not find one. It's one of my favourite Mariah videos and I always wanted to see a "behind the scenes" for it.

Infinity (51,823) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ok never mind, I found it. Anyways they really seem to be keeping information about the single very hush hush. They didn't even mention who else co-wrote the song with Mariah. If this turns out to be her 19th #1, I will be really happy for her. The fact that she is so confident about this single and like someone else mentioned, her label must be confident about it to for making it the only new track on the album, all these makes me hopeful. I don't know about the album as a whole, but I have a feeling the single has great potential. MC must know what is at risk here.

MC (51,819) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't consider the 10 years a failure. I may complain about a lot of things, but one thing I have never had complaints about (regarding Mariah) is her ability to deliver musically. Her songs are always great. I don't think Emancipation was her last good album. Emancipation was great, it had set the bar really high but the albums that came after that were definitely not disappointing. I love E=MC2 as well as Memoirs. I never skip a track in these two albums. People may not like these albums and some fans may complain these songs are not good enough, but they are great and I have always enjoyed them. MIAM was a really good album although I do skip some songs but if I had to give an overall verdict, it was a great album. She put in a little something for everyone there. I just feel bad that these albums basically received little to no love because of bad promotions and lack of dedication to put the word out about these from both the label and Mariah's part.
