About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Andrew (50,406) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This time around, I agree with you. This is what I have been trying to say that if MC wants the public to remember her and stay relevant she needs to be seen out in public and what better than major award shows? Everyone saying she is too good to walk on the red carpet is somewhat being a little silly, because no she is not. She is an A list celebrity and so is the likes of Julianne Moore, Jen Aniston and Beyonce. This is not the 90s and this is not the time when the name Mariah Carey will be enough to sell like hot cakes. If MC wants another #1 hit (which I can assure everyone she wants for sure, so don't argue), only being remembered by her lambily is not enough. When I brought JLo into the equation, I didn't imply MC should be JLo 2.0, I simply named her because they are of same age and have started roughly around the same time. So scrap JLo. What about Beyonce? She has a major fan following, the woman can sing (now fans will argue she doesn't write her songs) and she is the most popular artist now, but even she is dragging her behind to every award show. Why? Because this is something that comes with her being a star. In 90s I wouldn't be complaining if MC decided to play the elusive diva, but now, when her name is only connected to bad publicity, she really can't afford to play the untouchable diva. She needs to be accessible to the general public so that people can relate to her. Bring on the hate, I really don't care. It's the truth.

Lee TS / My All (50,391) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The song is definitely one of my favorites (which MC song isn't? lol) but no seriously it's one of the songs I listen to a lot. The song manages to combine desperation, longing and sensuality (probably due to the amazing Latin guitar beats) into one song. The lyrics are so descriptive and Mariah's vocals really bring out the desperation she feels to hang on to her lover. Basically a masterpiece. Nothing can describe the brilliance of this song. But yes the video was breath taking. Lol I chuckled at the part you wrote that she took it all off for the remix. While she still looked great in the remix and I love that hairstyle, I am not a fan of the video. However I do adore the remix version. It was great, the mash up was done so seamlessly, goes on to show how great MC is at remixes. Anyways back to the original video, I was reading the wiki page for it and in one part the director was talking about how the overturned boat scene reflected MC's vulnerability in the song (I guess because one wrong move and she'd end up in the water) but yeah I think that was a brilliant way to portray it. I think you described it best when you said that the video is art, because well that's what it is, a beautiful piece of art. I hope MC gets back with Brett Ratner, Paul Hunter, Diane Martel and Jake Nava for her future videos. Eventhough I didn't like the video for Boy, I'd like her to also work with Joseph Kahn because he did a great job with Taylor's "Blank space" video.

My All (50,388) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I was just browsing through when I suddenly realized that it has been ages (really ages) since I last saw the video of My All. Which is weird because it's one of my most favorite MC tracks. Anyways so going through the video I realized that I had forgotten how hauntingly beautiful the video is. Everything about it is so simple but so gorgeous. The shots of Mariah on the over turned boat, her gorgeous hair, the simple black dress, the hot lighthouse dude (hello there) and most of all Mariah's expressions. She seems so lost and vulnerable while she's laying there singing about her love. The video is simple, not a lot of hoo haa and yet it manages to capture the meaning and essence of the song so perfectly. Plus the black and white really does add a whole new dimension to each of the shot. So just giving a shout out to the gorgeous video.

Juan, Lee TS, Jaker20 (50,387) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree with you all. I just wish she'd attend these shows. I would love to see her in glamorous ensembles, walking the carpet like the queen that she is. I think she maintains such a low profile that people (except for her fans) just forgets about her and in this age where being seen is everything and when the phrase "out of sight, out of mind" is probably the most true, it's important to be seen out and about. She is so gorgeous, all eyes would be on her. Jaker, I get that she may not be invited to the Oscars for various reasons (the most important being, she didn't really have anything to do with movies in a while), I mean even Beyonce wasn't at the Oscars, but not even the Vanity Fair party? Almost everyone was there, starting from Paris Hilton to Beyonce. Then also what about the Met Ball? Celebrities use these opportunities to be seen and there is nothing wrong with it. I mean that's kind of comes with the package.

Baby (50,386) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Stop being so mean all the time. Jaker was just answering a question. I raised and it's not only about why MC never shows up at award shows this year, it was a general question about why she hardly ever shows up at major award functions. I know she has kids and I know she is busy with rehearsals but that doesn't always mean she can never get out of her house.

Oscars (50,369) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Why isn't MC in any of the major award functions at the moment. JLo seems to be all over the place. I mean not even the Vanity Fair party? Why? MC is one of the biggest superstars there is.

How's my body (50,367) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
When did this interview take place? She was in a blow up swimming pool for a video? Can anyone remind me which video that was? Or is it a new video because I can't remember any of her videos with that setting. Anyways, about the lateness of Mariah, I once spend hours on Mariah Daily Journal and went through their archives of magazines Mariah was featured in (they have the whole list) and I was reading the interviews and to me it seemed like almost every (with all caps) interview started with the interviewer talking about how the interview was scheduled to take place at one time but he/she ended up waiting for hours (never less than atleast 6 hours). There were some which said the interview was scheduled to be in the evening but it ended up happening in the wee hours of the morning of the next day. I came across this in her interviews so many times I almost thought MC or her team probably had the interviewer lie and say she made them wait for so long in order to sell her diva image. I know it sounds stupid but I did. I mean how can all the interviews start with "I had to wait for 10 hours and I was getting pissed but then in walks MC and the sight of her makes all the waiting completely worth it". This Ultimo person was the only one who said they were pissed and left pissed with MC. The others always mention how they found MC worth the wait the moment her presence graced the room.

Calm before the storm? (50,346) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah has been awfully quiet lately. It has been mentioned that she is recording songs for the #1's reissue but she doesn't talk about it. We don't see paparazzi shots of her out and about, her Twitter is pretty calm, it's like she is determined to stay discreet at the moment. Makes me wonder what she is up to? Planning her next big move with L.A. Reid? A huge comeback? Surprises? I am quite excited. I mean the last time she announced she is working on an album (which she worked on for like forever) she kept bombarding us with pictures of her in the studio, outside the studio, in her makeshif studio, and what not basically letting is know she is recording. But now she is suddenly all quiet. I also wonder what happened to the song or remix she did with Morales during MIAM era. I mean Morales confirmed they were recording. Plus she clearly recorded stuff right after the release of MIAM, because she tweeted photos outside her studio with a caption that goes something like "the recording doesn't stop" or whatever. She is bound to have a lot of songs she didn't include in MIAM. But will those see te light of the day? Mariah, you are being deliciously elusive, but I am willing to wait.

Darryle (50,279) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You are mistaken. Rihanna has 13 numbers 1s not 10 and she is only 5 number 1s away from Mariah. This is exactly what I was scared of. Someone a few posts down said something like they are not worried about this song going to number 1 because it's not a nice song. But that's a mistake, this song blew everyone's mind because of the unorthodox collaboration and the new kind of sound they experimented with. Nowadays a song doesn't need to be great to hit number 1. This is bad for Mariah as I surely wouldn't want rihanna to upstage her.

Hey there. Yes I do think one major thing MC needs to do is communicate with her fan, and no not just retweeting stuff and saying replying to one of two tweets, but she she should instead take an initiative to reach out to her fans and just state her problem. While I respect her privacy and so I would not ask her to divulge personal information about her divorce if she chooses not to, but I think she should atleast admit publicly that she is going through a rough time and ask the fans to give her some time. For her vocal issues, I think if she just comes out and say that the constant overuse of her voice has left it a little worn out and that she is either trying to get it back or she tried but couldn't I can guarantee that her fans will not judge her. In fact they'll stop bashing her so much. A major complaint from my side, and I am sure for others too, has been MC is all up on social media tweeting and retweeting the most random things while keeping mum about the tornado that is happening around her. She never acknowledged her recent bad performances, and people might think she doesn't even understand her mistake, so I think it's best for her to just issue a statement or go on Oprah or best do a documentary. We fans always will love and support her but she needs to also show us some respect and let us know that she is not turning a blind eye towards all that is going on.

A letter for Mariah (50,166) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah, if you are reading this, I would like to just speak on behalf of the lambily that we will always love and support you. We get frustrated, we criticize, we get angry, but it all comes only from the love we all share for you. I can tell you this, you are the woman who has helped me through a lot of pain and sorrow in my life without you even knowing it. I never had the chance to meet you, but your songs where there for me when nobody else was, like a hug I needed desperately or telling me to hold on and keep trying. I don't know if you know the impact your music had on so many people around the world, but you should know you are a very special person to me. At this point your career is going through a rough patch and I pray and hope for it to be back on track again. I don't know what personal issues you might be having and if it is too much for you to focus on your career at the moment, then take a break and focus on yourself. However if you want to claim back the throne that rightfully belongs to you, you need to start changing a few thing. The first would be to try and be the MC everyone fell in love with, the humble, sweet and witty Mariah, the girl with the golden voice. Second come out and tell people directly about your problems. No need to get into details, but just address your fans directly that you are going through a rough patch and I can assure you, you will find the lambily right by your side. I think a common complaint has been that you are not addressing anything directly to the lamb. Third accept the fact that even though you are still one of the most gifted singers, your voice has suffered a lot and just come out and say that. No one will judge you. Fourth, work with a vocal coach regularly and I am sure you can gain back the full potential of your voice. Fifth, it's time you change things up, come out of your comfort zone, try out different music while staying true to your style. Work with great producers (like Timbaland), work on strong collaborations (Bruno, Taylor, Beyonce). Sixth, accept the fact that only your brand will no longer sell the music like it used to, even current artists are suffering so when you embark on a project, you have to promote it like crazy. The world needs to know about it and they need to see believe that you believe in your work. A major problem with MIAM was that most people didn't know about it and a lot of people just assumed that since you are not bothered with promoting it, it might mean you just randomly put together an album just for the sake of it. So I hope you see this, and I hope you make the changes necessary. I love you and I always want the best for you. Just talk to the lambily directly, you'll find all the support you could need from us. Love and hug from me.

Lee Daniels (50,132) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Someone posted here a while back that Lee Daniels tweeted MC will be on Empire? Does anyone have the conversation? I would love to see it. Lee already put up a huge beautiful picture of MC in one of the shots on Empire and it was featured prominently for quite a long time and if MC is actually on I would freak out. So can anyone copy paste the conversation?

So what if he gets another #1 as a songwriter? Your initial claim was he is using Rihanna as part of his genius evil master plan to dethrone Mariah. Now you are going about another route. Stop trying to make everything a conspiracy. Plus I don't see what's the problem if McCartney is going for another #1. Isn't that what everyone in this industry is after?

Paul McCartney (50,087) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
While I might agree that the media seems to be really after Mariah with so many people throwing constant shade at her, or that maybe just maybe insiders of the music industry do not want Mariah to break the record of The Beatles, I do not agree that Paul teamed up with Rihanna to beat MC. That's ridiculous. What good would it do for Paul if Rihanna does manage to beat MC's record? Mariah has 18, Beatles have 20. If Rihanna beats MC with a 19th #1, then wouldn't she immediately turn into a bigger threat than Mariah for the Beatles? I mean she will be just phone calls away from scoring 2 more #1's and beating their record. Paul probably just liked the idea of the concept Rihanna had and that's why they teamed up. It's because of this unusual out of the box experiment that the song blew up. I don't think The Beatles will prefer having someone like Rihanna break their record rather than MC (who can actually sing) doing it. And the reason why MC's performances are being scrutinized so much is because before the last couple of years, social media and technology was not so widely used and every moment could not be captured and shared with the whole word instantly. So every mistake made by any celeb is now worldwide news almost immediately. That's the only reason.

#1's (50,080) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Really let's get real here OK? Instead of making some of us feel selfish for wanting MC to continue having more #1's than any other solo artists, you guys should know that MC apparently wants that too. In almost every interview she'll bring up the "you know what the record is, I'm not saying it but you know the charts records" and similar things where she basically tries to remind everyone that she has the most #1's. She did it in many interviews, I don't know how many of you have noticed. It was very apparent she was a little taken aback in one of the radio interviews last year when they didn't know what "statistic" she was talking about. It might have been the Breakfast Club interview or whatever and she tried to bring up her chart record of #1's but she couldn't say it directly and went about it indirectly and the host could not catch it and so she had to move on. She keeps trying to mention that she surpassed Elvis but always adds something like "I can't say it myself". With MC losing credibility over her voice lately and with her music bombing, her record of #1's is one of the most important things of her career she has left. You guys think she'll be happy to lose it? Especially to someone like Rihanna? You guys must really be blind to think MC doesn't care about keeping that record.

Amber C (50,064) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
If I am not mistaken, Patti isn't actually Mariah's Godmother. She just calls her that out of love and respect for her. I think Patti and Mariah met after she became a star, and since Mariah was always a fan of Patti and Patti likes Mariah so MC calls Patti her Godmother. Patti didn't know Mariah up until after she became famous. Plus I do not think MC had diva behavior since she was a child. She had quite a hard life and if you even see her up until early 2000s, she was pretty humble and down to earth. The diva behavior came later as a disguise, an alter ego if you will, which later engulfed her completely. And what stepfather are you talking about?

Another threat (50,061) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Would be unfortunately Katy Perry. She has quite a few number 1s. Her last album had 2 major number 1s and the Super Bowl performance kind of gave her a huge boost.

Kyle (50,060) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Rihanna actually is the biggest threat. She is not past her peak. She just scored a number 1 with Eminem a while back. She is young and has a huge fan following. Don't forget that people thought Mariah's career has peaked and was going into decline when Glitter happened. No one thought she'd bounce back but she came back with 3 more #1's, so underestimating Rihanna isn't wise. Taylor Swift is someone who Mariah can worry about later. She has 3 number #1s. Once she reaches 10, that's when she's a threat. I would however love for MC to work with Taylor and see what they can cook up, they are both great songwriters. One other thing I see people saying is that MC will still have the record of female songwriter with most #1's, while that is true, at this point you guys are just clutching on to whatever you have. How many times did you hear Mariah being promoted as the female songwriter with most #1's during an interview introduction or video montage during performances on shows and concerts? It's always "artist with most #1 hits", "over 200 million albums sold" and "the voice". Mariah has many records under her name, but her being able to hold the 18 number 1s for so long is one of her top selling points, so if she wants to keep that image, the work needs to start.
(Thursday 12 February 2015; 18:08)
Rihanna (50,028) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't think anyone said that Rihanna is even quarter as good as Mariah. The girl can't even sing. However it is true that she is the strongest contender to take Mariah's #1's record. It doesn't matter whether she got her #1's by singing a hook on another person's song or whatever, it will be counted as her #1. So that's a fact. She is young and has time to scoop up more #1's. Let's not forget that Mariah grabbed 3 of her #1's in her mid to late 30's. While Mariah still will have a magnificent legacy, she will no longer be able to promote herself as the artist with the most #1 singles because this along with her "over 200 million albums sold" and "the voice" are the key points her promoters use. So that's why Rihanna is a risk. No one is thinking she is better than Mariah so calm the eff down.

Another dress (50,024) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Another gorgeous outfit Mariah wore was for Top of the Pops performance in 2005. It was a champagne yet silvery sparkly number which completely covers her front side but is open at the back. She looks beautiful in it and it was a mini dress which showed off her amazing legs.

The blue/purple dress (50,022) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
No that dress was a hot mess. Nothing about it was good. It wasn't a proper fit, I don't know what the designer had in his vision but the whole waist area seemed like a lot of material scrunched up together and pulled back. The whole dress basically looked like a satin bed sheet was taken and wrapped around Mariah and they knotted on her shoulder in a huge bow, and then cinched at the waist to by scrunching up the material to fit her waist line. It's a very bad gown to say the least. The only good thing about the gown is it's beautiful color and that it covers the boobs. But Mariah has had better gowns in similar category, the best I think would be the plum-maroon gown one shouldered gown she wore on AI, and she had the gorgeous old Hollywood glam hair going on. I'm attaching a picture, I don't know if the webmaster will post it.

Seth M (49,967) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I mainly agree with your post. The only thing I disagree with is that I don't think hip hop ruined Mariah, it introduced her to a new fanbase and personally I kind of really like the hip hop Mariah. She somehow manages to blend in seamlessly into this genre without looking like she's trying too hard. It seems to come to her so naturally and I love her hip hope flavored songs so I am glad she ventured out, not that I don't like the classic MC ballads, I love those too. As for stage performance, Mariah needs to stop allowing that Rae Rae to choreograph her. She adds absolutely nothing good and she's got MC stuck in the same routine of "hip sway here", "run hands down the side of your body there", "a little finger snap", "the TEOM pose" and other usual ones. Also I hope MC puts in a little more thought on the stage presentation and stage lights. As for her outfits, I agree with the others, the boobs should be covered up a little more and she should try out different clothes. Perhaps sing Bringin' On The Heartbreak in full rock star attire at one show? I don't know. Anything at all.

Grammys and all (49,952) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I miss seeing Mariah at major award shows. I don't know why she isn't attending any of these. Her WBT/FLAB performance at the Grammy's still gives me goosebumps. Those are times she looks so alive on stage. Everything about that show was perfection, the dress, the hair, the show. Then the WBT performance at the MTV movie awards, she looked gorgeous. The My All performance at Divas Live. I love seeing all the major artists looking up at her in awe while she is on stage. Also why doesn't Mariah do more looks like the one she did for Obama at the inauguration neighborhood ball during 2009? That look was all sorts of perfection. This is the performance for Obama incase some people didn't see it.
