I just died laughing reading your post about the horses and Wendy. Then I got back up to write to you. Lol that would turn the show into an enormous hit.

I was thinking along the same lines of Mariah having 4 costume changes and hair changes for a set list divided into 4 parts. While it may be impossible to get the hair done in such short time, she can just use wigs customized for her. I think it will be fabulous and really take people for a walk down memory lane. I hope she has something major and grand planned for her Vegas shows. She's in top shape physically at the moment so any look will be great on her. I hope she diversifies instead of only gowns. Hopefully Vegas will give her the fresh start she needs. The voice is still there, the confidence is just shaken up I guess.

Aren't you contradicting yourself when you say MC is the "master of lip synching" and then saying you're glad she is "lousy at being fake" when lip synching? The other performers who lip synch would be Beyonce, Madonna, Britney, JLo, even MJ sometimes. But what these people do on stage that people chose to ignore them lip synching is they're putting up a show. They are not only hiding behind dancers, they're dancing themselves. They go through days of rehearsals to get their moves right and the visual performance and stage effects that they put up is what keeps the audience entertained. Nobody at this day and age is stupid to think that these people are singing perfectly in tune while jumping around the stage or swinging from strings. They even rework their hits by remixing them. They're excused because the people going to the show gets the performance as a substitute for live singing. In case of M her entire performance is dependent on her voice. Noone told her to sing every line, but atleast try to sing when you can, or atleast put up a proper lip synch. Change up arrangements/remix the songs to give the audience a new look at an old song. MC is the queen of remixes and re-doing vocals of her songs, she just doesn't seem inclined to waste time re-recording some songs with a newer arrangement. You gotta give the audience something worth their time and money. Either a great visual performance, or a great vocal moment.

If what you say is true that Mariah will "make him eat his own words" about Nathan, then shouldn't we be glad that his words actually sparked the fire in her to prove him and everyone else wrong? After all nothing else seems to be motivating her to stop delivering one bad performance after another. There is no doubt Mariah is what she is today based on her own merits, but seriously, you really think MC is great as her own manager? Have you really not seen what went down when she was left to manage herself? Heck it has been that way since she hired Randy and Jermaine also since they were only "managers" by name but she was calling the shots and we have all seen how that went down. Perhaps not letting critics get somewhat the best of her isn't so good for an entertainer because if she would have been looking at the news, she would have not have been making one mistake after another. You talk about haters, when you are spewing hatred yourself on others every day. No one here has the time to sit and write about MC if they didn't love her or want the best for her. So excuse us for wanting MC to rise again and slay the charts, while you keep coddling her with the same issh that people around her are doing only to make her dig a grave for her career. Your little "MC can do no wrong" will do nothing but dim the fire in her more because she will see no reason to improve herself. Because how can one improve perfection?

Shelly / MAC (49,843)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
I love MAC and I always longed for MC to do a collaboration with them. They come out with such amazing celebrity collaborations. MC is glamorous and beautiful and successful. I think she will be perfect. I mean they even had Sir Elton John and Ricky Martin do collaborations, so why not Mariah? I mean she obviously uses more makeup than Ricky and Elton. I love the special packaging they do for collaborations. Mariah's should be gold and classy. They usually include items in it that the celebrity wears most, so for Mariah I guess that would include an eyeshadow quad with gold, brown, black and taupe, then 2 lipsticks (pink and nude), 2 matching lipglosses, a pair of sexy lashes, sunkissed bronzer powder and a sweet pink blush. MAC would expose her to a new generation and also bring her to the attention of people who already knew her. They usually carry out big promotions for these and since Mac falls in the range between drugstore and high end, it is used by people from all age groups. Also why MC was never on Vogue baffles me. With her level of fame she should have been all over it. I am surprised she wasn't on it even in TEOM era when she was in all mags and she was in best dressed lists and she had Andre Leon by her side.

Nathan (49,829)

I applaud his courage, because he risked losing his friendship with MC (she might not speak to him) and the wrath of lambs around the world. He risked being bombarded on social media by the fans. Yet he decided to speak up. Someone needed to. I don't know if Mariah reads our messages, we are basically unknown faces. But I think there is a chance Nathan's message may reach MC. Thing is if she takes this as a wake up call and turns her life around, she'll be the gainer. If she takes this as negativity and turns her back on him, only she'll be the loser. I do not take this as a sabotage attempt. Not in the least. Yes, like Shelly said, maybe he could have talked to her in private but I guess for some reason he thought this was the way he wants to go about it. For months now MC has been systematically tarnishing her own legacy. Why she is doing it is beyond me. But I hate to see her like this. I am glad that most people on this board agree with Nathan on this, instead of badmouthing him. Because honestly, there is no more time left to coddle Mariah anymore and expect she'll change her ways, it's time for some straight up conversation and Mariah has to confront her mistakes.

Shake It Off / May (49,792)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
Shake It Off is such an amazing video. I can watch it on repeat. Every single outfit in that video, every hairstyle and every makeup was on point there. I loved it that instead of going only stick straight and mermaid curls Mariah played up her hair, and she also came out of her signature fresh faced, rosy cheeks looks to do a lot of dramatic makeup numbers. The outfits were glamorous and sexy without looking inappropriate. If I am not mistaken this is the only video of Mariah apart from Breakdown where she tries out multiple looks that we don't see her in. Breakdown is another favourite video of mine because of this. Don't get me wrong, I love the signature MC look, but I love it more when she plays up on her looks. I also don't think MC doesn't need to compromise on her music quality and just focus on a good video. We have seen she can create good music and get awesome videos for it too. She needs a major image change. The diva image has to go for now, or atleast until she has earned it back. People need to see her for who she is as an artist, brilliant and talented, and stop viewing her as a "has been whose career is over". MC has the capability to shut everyone up, she just needs to get the confidence back. I think she was super confident during TEOM. It showed in the way she talked, walked and smiled. We need that Mariah.

I think it basically means "Money, this, that, the other". Like the "$" sing is Money. The * sign is "this" like specifically marking it. The "/" is "that" as in "or that" which basically the symbol stands for. And "..." means "the other" like when we finish of a sentence with "..." it may sometimes mean etcetra or "and so on". Just what I think. Not sure.

I agree with you. Mariah needs a fresh sound. I also love to hear more party songs from Mariah like ILT. She needs to be heard at clubs, sing songs at concerts that people can dance to. I know ballads are signature Mariah and I am not telling her to drop it. I wish she would work with Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift or others one would never expect her to collaborate with. Like maybe even Robin Thicke. I am longing for the day when the social media and the world will blow up again with news about Mariah coming back with a bang. I want to see Mariah trending for being the legend that she is instead of her being in the news for latest mess ups are going viral. I understand she is human and she is going through a tough time and in that case I think she should take a break and come back when she feels good and confident. But if she chooses to keep working she needs to deliver on it. Because at the end of the day it's her legacy and she has to protect it.

Haha that has been one of my favourite Mariah shots for a very long time. She just looks so effortlessly sexy with the messy updo. Isn't the video just awesome? I really love all the videos of that era. She played with different hairstyle, makeup (Shake It Off anyone?) and outfits. For many fans DFAU kind of takes a back seat to WBT mainly because the latter was such a huge hit, so I guess the video of DFAU is kind of underrated. But I really like it. However I guess it's no WBT. That song is legendary.

Random thought (49,760)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
|
So I am happy to see Missy Elliot come back with a bang. Performing at the Super Bowl really got her back on the map. She was a legend back in the day but in the middle kind of disappeared (or I lost track of her). But now she is back and people are going crazy over her. Apparently some of her songs are on the top 10 of iTunes now. I think the super bowl introduced her to a whole new audience and also got her back in the heads of people who already knew her. I so wish MC comes back with a bang. She should do shows which are viewed by a lot of people so that new the younger generation get curious enough to go through her back catalogue. Another random thought, I wonder why MC doesn't team up with hip cosmetics companies and collaborate with them on a line. Yes I know some fans don't like her selling products, but it could be fun and especially if she teams up with MAC which is extremely popular with people from all age groups, she can also get more people to recognize her. Then come on why is Mariah not on Vogue? Like even in her prime days.

My post was not directed at you in anyway. I am just writing to clarify it, because I enjoy your posts. I think it's a healthy balance of positivity and reality. I like that you try to see the best in everything but yet acknowledge the bad sides when you see one. This is exactly what I like. My post is directed at people who will only shove down the "MC can do no wrong" thing down everyone else's throats. As for my comment on being "selfish" when I want more of MC, it's just a way of saying that I can never get bored of her. I obviously don't mean to force her to work for the rest of her life. That's sadistic. Anyways, hope that clears it up. I like your opinions, that's the kind of positivity Mariah needs, not the "oh MC you are flawless, anyone who says otherwise will be beheaded" type.

The non lambs (49,746)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|

People who call out fans who have the "audacity" *sarcasm* to point out any of Mariah's shortcomings really will be the reason of Mariah's downfall. Words cannot describe how much I love this woman, eventhough I never met her, in many ways she has changed my life and helped me in situations where I felt helpless. But I will not stand by and keep telling myself (and others) that Mariah can do no wrong and the only way one can qualify as a fan is accepting that Mariah has no flaws at all. That's silly. This is exactly why MC has been in this situation several times. People not telling her the truth or in Mary's word "giving her the real". MC is an artist with enormous talent, but one has to admit that she can be a mess sometimes. Especially now. While I will never ask her to retire (because I am selfish like that, I want more and more of MC), I would advice her to only take up projects when she can properly deliver on it. Taking up work just for the sake of it and then being a mess infront of the world is not helping her in anyway. There is a saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity" but when someone who is known as The Voice is only in the news because of her bad and messed up performances and vocal conditions, then I am sorry it is very bad publicity. I see some people here are still talking about how all artists lip-sync, such as Beyonce. Um, have you seen Beyonce perform? With her grueling dance routines and the enormous effort put in her stage performance, and the amount of though put in her stage effects and overall show. I think people will gladly forgive her for not singing live. Because one can't jump around like that and still hit all the right notes. But that's not the case for MC. She has been allowed to sing in one place and use the only thing she needed, her voice, to wow the audience. So yes it is a big deal if she lipsyncs, but not when people like Gaga or Britney does it. Those people were never pegged as legendary singers eitherways. I think MC should really look at her performances and see put herself in her fan's position and judge for herself if she is doing the right thing. I understand why she probably doesn't see her bad performances, I sometimes do it, if I write a bad paper, and I know it's bad, I don't feel like going through it again and instead just submit it to get it over with and move on. But my paper is not viewed by the world, MC's performance is. She signed up for it, so now she has to take responsibility. I pray and hope MC realizes this and works on it. Day by day her status as the untouchable legend is deteriorating and if she continues we will be the last generation that looked at her as a legend because others will just know her as a messy performer. MC please don't let your legendary status die out, if not for yourself than do it for your fans.

MC (49,717)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

|
The only reason (or excuse) Mariah had for not putting up a huge show or performance on stage was that she is a singer and she is "The Voice" and that her singing talent is enough, she doesn't need gimmicks and dance routines to put on a show. In an industry where visual performance is almost as important if not more than a person's ability to sing, people made an exception for Mariah because, wow the woman has some fabulous pipes. But now sadly that excuse won't work. All Mariah has to do is stand on stage and sing, but nowadays she doesn't even bother doing that. Isn't that disrespecting the fans who come to see her, who spend their heard earned money to hear their favorite song being sung to them live by her? I get it that maybe she can't sing as well as she used to and that's fine, so just put in an effort and change up the arrangements so that you can actually sing along. Not only that she doesn't even bother putting up a nice appearance on stage. Her hair is a mess, she seems zoned out most of the time, she'll occasionally walk around and sway with a dancer. If she chooses to lipsync then she should consider putting up a show. Enough with standing in one place pretending you are singing it live. And seriously how hard is it to lip sync? I think I have studied her enough to impersonate her better onstage than she can do it herself. I am not hating on her, I am just hurt and saddened to see Mariah systematically ruining her legacy.

#1's (49,250)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Correct me if I am wrong but I didn't hear Mariah say that she will be releasing another #1's compilation. What she said was that her Vegas residency set list was inspired by her #1's album and that this time around it will be the updated version including the additional #1 hits. I don't think she mentioned anywhere that she will be releasing the updated album. She did however retweet a tweet by a fan who wrote something like "can't wait for the concert and album". But that again doesn't confirm that the album is a #1 compilation album. So there is still a chance that after her residency ends mid 2015, she might release completely new material. Singing her most famous hits from her back catalogue for her residency is a good idea since people will be able to sing along. Anyways so basically I was just wondering where the whole #1's album discussion came from. Did I miss out on something?

The red dress was not from her last appearance on Ellen, I forgot about the episode where she was pregnant. I was referring to the one she wore in 2008. It was red and basically very similar to the one she is wearing on this episode. Both looked stunning on her.

Mariah, she's on fire (49,226)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

MC looked so good on Ellen. Gorgeous, glamorous, confident and perfect. She really did look flawless. From the hair, makeup to the dress, everything was on point. I love how the dress is quite similar to the red version she wore on Ellen the last time she went there. MC looked half her age. The one with the hotel maid sketch was also perfection. I loved the hairstyle, something I haven't seen her do before and I loved how she was so playful and funny. This is why I love MC on Ellen. I think the best accessory MC had on was her gorgeous smile. In the past few months, I felt that eventhough she was smiling, it was not genuine because she was in a lot of pain. But she seems to have shaken it off. I am so happy for her. Oh and I loved how she said "ofcourse" when she was asked if she will party with Britney.

Vegas and Mariah (49,213)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
While I was not really a fan of the idea of MC taking on Vegas at this point in her life, I will try and be supportive of her decision. I just hope that haters don't take this as her last stop before retiring. I was almost hoping for a completely new album on her 25th year and being selfish about wanting her to score a couple more number ones to get everyone in check, but ah well I see many lambs are happy with the decision so good for them. However why is MC still using her picture from 2008 E=MC2 shoot for profile pictures and on Ellen? Come on, she looks great now and if she is releasing an album, she should really not use old pictures. I need a new fabulous photoshoot.

The next move (48,943)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I vote "No" for the ideas that she should go to Vegas or that she should re-release the first album or release new versions of the old song. Mariah already has two consecutive commercially flop albums under her name now (note: the albums are amazing, but they just didn't manage to sell). A third flop would ruin Mariah for good. She really needs to chalk out her A game right about now. Many will now say "oh I don't care about hits anymore blah blah" and that's your personal opinion, but to me, it's important that should Mariah retire, she should leave on a high note, with a massive hit. For that, she needs to come out of her comfort zone and work with the hottest producers now and really collaborate with some of the popular artists now. Not saying she should give up the classic Mariah touch, but it doesn't hurt to try out new things, and we know if anyone can do it, it's MC. She should shock people by collaborating with a current female artist, do amazing videos like she used to, and promote the single/album like it's no tomorrow. I would also really want Mariah to change up her style. She looks great in just about anything so why limit herself? She can pull off the "Jeans and Tee" look, do a cute skirt moment, slip into a pant suit and what not. Come on Mariah, it's time you show the people what a powerhouse you really are.

Mariah needs a change? (48,537)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
While I do agree that Mariah needs a few changes here and there, like she needs to work on not being so late to her shows, she needs to actually show the world how intelligent and brilliant she is (because a lot of people just think she is ditzy), her drinking, and that she needs to get a better stylist, however I disagree with people who are trying to change almost everything about her. I do not mind her insisting on being photographed from one particular angle, she isn't the only one who does that, heck even I only take pictures from one side and I will move my friends in group photos to get my "good" side. I do not like how I look from the other side and I am sure many non-celebs do it. So to bash MC for it is silly. Ofcourse she would want to look her best and to top that off she already has enough haters who put unflattering pictures of her on the net and call her "fat", "ugly" and all those. Next comes the use of "dahlin'". I don't see the problem, it's like her signature style. I love it, it's something only she uses. It's like an MC trademark just like her butterfly rings.

At first I thought the Minaj Carey fight was scripted but now I think maybe it was real or got real at some point. If the fight was scripted, they would have a scripted "making up" session. But it has been 2 years and still no reconciliation. I do agree that maybe it kind of makes MC look bad because while Nicki is on good terms with almost all female artists, MC has always stuck to collaborating mainly with only other male artists. I will always root for MC to have more female collaborators.

The vocal drama (48,285)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I am not bothered. This isn't anything new. When MC was giving some of the best vocal moments on her tour, all the media outlets, the gossipers, and that Wendell was quiet and didn't say anything. Not one article about how great she was sounding. But now that she missed a few notes here and there people are all up on her. We are back to the dramatic "MC can't sing anymore" headlines all over the place. What bothers me though is fans sometimes say that "oh I'll take a few bad notes but if I go to see her perform I want it to be completely live not mimed, even if its not perfect". So when she gives you that, you'll still attack her. and if she gives a mimed performance, people will hate her again. So really MC at this point can't do much. Her voice isn't what it used to be when she started. It's no use comparing her to other artists who have been in the business longer than her. Everyone's voice does not wear out the same way. Some will lose it faster than others. That being said, according to me, MC's voice is still intact. On any given day she can sing better with a cold than any of these so called singers at their peak vocal moment. A few bad performances shouldn't lead to us lambs ripping her. The media is already there for that. We lambs should know Mariah keeps coming back bigger and better.

Taylor and Mimi (48,283)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Previously I had suggested Mariah should work with Beyonce. Now I think she should really work with Taylor. I had avoided listening to Taylor before because I used to hear all of her songs are about her nagging about past romances. But I recently got to hearing some of her songs and I enjoy it. What's even better is she is a songwriter and she has similar opinions like Mariah about this since she says that she wasn't going to be a singer, if she wasn't a songwriter as she was not going to sing anyone else's songs. This is something Mariah always says. So that's something common and Taylor is a pretty decent songwriter, they can come up with a good strong song. Hey maybe even about dissing out exes. MC and Taylor are both good at diss tracks. I would love to see these two collaborate. I think it'll be something new for Mariah too since she usually avoids collaborating with other female artists except for rappers.

Your idea is perfect. I loved it. Both the suggestions were awesome and so different. Disney and other animated movies are really doing well right now and giving artists a lot of exposure like Pharell for Despicable Me. It could really give Mariah the platform to gather new fans and also show people how diversified she can be. I would love to see MC in a glamorous action role. There were rumors long time back that she was being considered as a bond girl and what not, I don't know if it is true, but yes, I would definitely be the first in line to watch MC in a big budget action flick.
