You are right about Beautiful. To date it bothers me, because the song had so much potential and without any promotion it did so well, that one can only imagine what would have happened if she did promote it. A definite top 10 if not a top 5 or dare I say #1. The song was fresh and completely different. The guitar riff was sexy. It had laid back summer hit song written all over it. The remix with Jeezy was also hot. It was such a lost opportunity. Mariah looked great. She could have promoted the hell out of it. This and E=MC2 (as a whole album and its individual singles) felt like lost opportunities to me. She could have picked up a lot of hits from it, which would also give a huge push to Memoirs. Her material never disappointed me. She always delivers, but it's her promo work for the last few years that is slowing her down. I think YM(E) also would have climbed the charts. Even if not #1, it still would have at least charted higher than #88. Every non-fan I played the song to loved it on first listen. But oh well, things happen. But MC still has it. This time it's war. Everybody talking crap about her needs to be shut down.

Brett Ratner (50,670) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
MC's new picture with Brett Ratner is hot tamale. I hope this indicates he'll be working on her videos.

Woah. That's brilliant. Take a screenshot of your post and tweet it to L.A. Reid and Mariah. I guess MC herself won't arrange this (because well she might be shy) but L.A. Reid or her team can definitely pull this off. She is in good terms with almost all the people she collaborated with and I am sure Beyonce, Rihanna and the rest would gladly come. This will be huge. It'll show everyone that MC is and will remain the queen.

Do you have a link to the interview? Did he say upcoming season or upcoming season finale? I have been hearing that she'll be there for the finale. Now if it's next season then it's going to be a long wait, but if it's the finale then it's just 2 episodes away.

Your list of songwriters/producers MC should work with is perfect. Atleast one if not all of those collaborations is likely to hit #1. The list got me all excited. Imagine the possibilities. MC is hot musically on her own, but pair that with a current hot producer/singer/songwriter and bam, the charts will eat it up. As for your other post about her having a lot of songs from MIAM, I totally agree. Like you pointed out that she did mention in 2013 that she has enough songs for the CD, yet she continued recording. Plus I mentioned in a post that even after releasing MIAM, she still kept posting pictures showing she is still recording. Plus between 2010 and 2014, I don't think someone like MC, who is always so much into music, just sat idle and didn't write any songs. Nick said around the time she was pregnant and right after the birth of dembabies that MC is continuously writing and recording and taking notes from her older albums. So that means she was working on a new album as early as 2010-2011. Her new album was probably going to come out in 2012, but due to the sad failure of Triumphant (woah failure of Triumphant), she probably abandoned plans to release the album and went on recording more. So I think MC has quite a lot of material in hand and I too believe (and hope) that an album will follow right after the re-issue of #1's. But I do hope MC takes notes and collaborates with some of the names you mentioned if she wants a surefire hit.

JD (50,658) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am actually relieved that JD and Mariah are on good terms. I can't say for sure, but being the private person Mariah is, I think she only lets few people into her inner circle. She is always surrounded by a huge entourage, but I think she has very few people she can truly trust, and JD seemed to be one of those people. So I am glad that they are together. I don't mind them working together. I think they can easily try out different sounds because they are both great at it. So yay. If Jermaine likes it, then I like it.

Empire (50,610) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I have been thinking for a while and how many of you think Mariah may use her appearance in Empire as a promo for her next single? If she does that it would be brilliant because Empire is continuously breaking all TV show ratings records and that would expose MC to a huge audience, from young ones to more matured ones. And Empire is a show which revolves around music, so MC will fit right in.

Kristofer (50,609) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hey Lee TS, thanks for the reply. If Kris did say it's "top secret" then maybe it's not about him being her makeup artist in Vegas because by now that's pretty predictable. Maybe there is something new? New documentary? New music video for a song? New photoshoot? Am I beind overexcited?

Kristofer Buckle (50,603) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I read somewhere that Kristofer Buckle (MC's makeup artist) said somewhere that "top secret mission of fabulousness". I couldn't find it on his twitter. Does anyone know where he might have said it? Also what is this top secret mission? I am intrigued.

Marcus (50,598) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You probably think that because she is wearing a huge cardigan which is making her look wide. She looks pretty slim though. She probably weighs less than the set of "blings" she is wearing. I can't get over the blings.

Mother of massive necklace (50,592) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Lol MC casually strolling around New York, with a casual cardigan, a mini dress and a couple of millions worth of diamonds. No big deal. Just a normal day.

I blame Mariah (50,567) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
For getting me into the habit of doing crazy (yet oh-so-awesome) hand movements every time I listen to her songs. It's not even intentional. It just happens so naturally. I love MC going crazy on stage, suddenly running around and as Jon put it, "punching a ghost" and all the moves. Jon I just want to say you gave me a good laugh and now I will always think of what you said every time I see those moves. Lol "handing out pancakes" what on earth? MC said she didn't realize at first she used to do that, but I think the hand gestures comes from the fact that she gets so into the song.

G.G. (50,482) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha you are right. What's funny is on this very board I have been called a "fair weather fan" and also a "delusional Mariah-can-do-no-wrong fan" by different parties. This happened so many times now it's just boring and annoying. As long as I know in my heart that I love MC, I will keep posting my thoughts and suggestions. The day I will feel like I don't care about her anymore, I will stop. I don't care what the "real lambs" think. I am not here to please them, I am here for Mariah. I always try to maintain a level where I make sure my posts are not illogical or hateful. I try to post honest opinions about changes I would like to see in Mariah. I am sorry but I am not the type to say "Mariah can change when she wants", because no it's a little too late for that. It has to be done ASAP. I am coming to a point where I am even probably going to let go of pushing Mc for another #1, but I do desperately need her to make changes and stop self destructing her legendary status.

Jon (50,481) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Jon: your latest post is something I agree with whole heartedly. Each and every word. It's beautifully written. The point you made about not turning away from a family member is something I have been saying so many times. Just because we are in awe of Mariah doesn't mean she doesn't have faults. And just because she has faults doesn't make her stupid or a bad person. She lives in a different world like most celebs. She probably feels helpless or clueless and doesn't know whom to turn to. Sometimes people need an outside perspective. What would be wrong is for fans to see these mistakes being made over and over and pretending like everything is fine, which just leads to MC being ridiculed by the entire world. I don't know Mc personally but I have always felt such a connection to her, I want nothing but the best. I can't bear to stand her legendary status being ridiculed over and over. But to call this "bashing" is wrong. Questioning why people who question MC doesn't move on to Ariana or other artists is wrong. I'd like to tell them that they weren't the ones to introduce me to MC, so don't try to be oversmart and tell me where to go now. Questions shouldn't be raised as to why people with a negative opinion still post here. I am here because I care. So I will keep posting my opinions and I hope MC sees them and finds suggestions if she were ever to need help in understanding things she has been doing wrong.

Double standards (50,475) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So it's fine that the "positive fans" calls the others arrogant and impatient and selfish (saying that only come back to Mariah when she is back on top and leave her when she is going through a rough patch) but it's wrong that the "fair weather fans" will call out the people as enablers coddling Mariah with lies and refusing to help her see her flaws so she can fix things? Seriously wow. That's not double standard at all eh?

RJJ12 (50,474) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
If I remember correctly Nick was not jealous of the male lead from YME. He was jealous of Miguel. Mariah said it herself that when Nick saw pictures of Mariah in a bikini sitting infront of Miguel and leaning on him behind while they were on a boat heading towards the grotto for the shoot of Hermosa, he lost his mind. This came straight from Mariah's mouth and she said she was surprised he had the jealous side. Mariah also mentioned that it was a last minute decision to add Trey instead of the other model since she wanted him to do it and the reason they don't have scenes together is because it was done on short notice and they couldn't take Trey to the location were they were shooting. So they made do with whatever they had. As for the Breakfast Club interview, Mariah needs to work on being professional and keep her professional and personal life aside.

Shelly (50,459) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I think MC looked amazing and so sexy in DFAU. If I was given a choice to recreate her videos, I would have such a hard time choosing between Honey, Heartbreaker, Breakdown, and the TEOM videos. She had such great videos and she looked great in all of them.

Vegas (50,457) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I was never a fan of that idea. If MC decided to work instead of taking a break, I would have preferred her coming out with a new album and promoting it to the extreme and reconnecting with her fans. Getting an image makeover and basically prepare for a second comeback. I will be happy for her if Vegas works out for her but I fear it will cause more strain on her already fragile voice. I agree with people who said they would prefer that she leaves the old catalogue behind for a while, with the exception of some upbeat songs which blends in perfectly with the current music scene. I would also like for her to sing songs she usually doesn't. Vegas is a huge commitment. All eyes will be on her and she'll be judged harshly and I don't know if she is ready for that now. I would have preferred her working to get her throne back on her 25th anniversary, going on talk shows, letting people see her fun, creative side. With Vegas taking such a huge chunk away I don't know if she will be able to participate in promotions and being seen.

The categories of lambs (50,455) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Someone broke down what he thinks are the different kind of lambs. basically calling out people who have the audacity to question Mariah. Apparently that means the person is arrogant and impatient. I would call out the fans who are always smothering Mariah with praises no matter what. You are the reason her career is in this state. I would rather be the type of friend who tells her friend to make necessary changes instead of putting a blindfold on and letting her get ridiculed by the entire world. It's good to be supportive, I will support Mariah always, but it's foolosh to turn the other way everytime she makes a mistake. She is human, she will make mistakes but how will she fix it If nobody helps her see the reality? You think it's best to keep telling MC she will be just fine when she is clearly lost? No, it's not fine, you are just pushing her down the cliff. MC was just fine before, it's people like you all and the "yes men" around her that has ruined her, that has made her feel like she can do no wrong. I hate that every 2 days a new person will come up with the same "true lambs vs fair weather lambs" post. It's tiring and old, just like ramblings at interviews, so please take several seats and get your priorities right. If you love MC truly, you would tell her the truth and help her see her mistakes so she can work on it. Don't sit and says she'll change when she wants to. She's 45, she won't keep getting opportunites all the time especially when she missed so many.

Mariah commands attention (50,428) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I am sorry but that's exactly the kind of attitude that has turned people away from her. Even her close friends. You don't see Randy Jackson and Jermaine Dupri around MC now anymore and these people were always with her for a very long time. And Beyonce said way before Rihanna that VOL made her become a singer, and yet Beyonce had to wait until the massive publicity risk of her latest album to get the star power she is now commanding. So no, just modelling your career after someone does not guarantee success. Rihanna got major boost through public sympathy for her after she was hit by Chris Brown during which she picked up multiple #1's. Then came her creating multiple image changes that lead her to be a style icon to teenagers (who are the people who buy music the most nowadays). Then she got together with Eminem to gather a couple more #1's. Rihanna did not model her career after MC. They couldn't be different as individuals and as artists. As for Barbra, she continues to remain successful and relevant not only for being a talented singer but she is also an Oscar/Tony/Emmy winner, director and actress (on both movies and TV shows). MC chose only one lane and to stay relevant, she needs bring her A game.

I think it does matter. JLo being out and about is keeping her in the public's mind. She has already recorded and released a new track for a song for the soundtrack of a new animation movie. Something which is working really well for people like Pharell and Idina Menzel. Not only is she just singing for the soundtrack, she is also part of the voice cast along with Rihanna. Her last song, the ever annoying "Booty" managed to crack the top 20 based on her promoting it and being in public view. Her other annoying song "I Luh Ya Papi" managed to chart higher than the amazing "You're Mine". By being seen out and about, I don't only mean the red carpet, I also mean promotions. And like it or not red carpet and award function appearances adds to promotions. Plus now is the time for MC to connect with people and show her side that people can relate to. JLo has toned down her diva image by a lot. This woman used to walk around in gowns all the time, now you see her out and about in casual clothes and suddenly people think she's like us. MC needs to make people feel that too. I will stress it again, JLo has less talent that Mariah needs to work on her image. Image is everything in Hollywood. Not caring about it is a mistake.

Music video (50,408) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Do you guys remember this show on MTV or VH1 (I can't remember) where they would let a major fan recreate a music video of their favorite artist? Like this one Britney fan got to recreate "Baby One More Time". Let's suppose that show was still on, and each of you got to choose a music video to recreate (MC's or any other other artist), which would you choose?

Andrew (50,406) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This time around, I agree with you. This is what I have been trying to say that if MC wants the public to remember her and stay relevant she needs to be seen out in public and what better than major award shows? Everyone saying she is too good to walk on the red carpet is somewhat being a little silly, because no she is not. She is an A list celebrity and so is the likes of Julianne Moore, Jen Aniston and Beyonce. This is not the 90s and this is not the time when the name Mariah Carey will be enough to sell like hot cakes. If MC wants another #1 hit (which I can assure everyone she wants for sure, so don't argue), only being remembered by her lambily is not enough. When I brought JLo into the equation, I didn't imply MC should be JLo 2.0, I simply named her because they are of same age and have started roughly around the same time. So scrap JLo. What about Beyonce? She has a major fan following, the woman can sing (now fans will argue she doesn't write her songs) and she is the most popular artist now, but even she is dragging her behind to every award show. Why? Because this is something that comes with her being a star. In 90s I wouldn't be complaining if MC decided to play the elusive diva, but now, when her name is only connected to bad publicity, she really can't afford to play the untouchable diva. She needs to be accessible to the general public so that people can relate to her. Bring on the hate, I really don't care. It's the truth.

Lee TS / My All (50,391) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The song is definitely one of my favorites (which MC song isn't? lol) but no seriously it's one of the songs I listen to a lot. The song manages to combine desperation, longing and sensuality (probably due to the amazing Latin guitar beats) into one song. The lyrics are so descriptive and Mariah's vocals really bring out the desperation she feels to hang on to her lover. Basically a masterpiece. Nothing can describe the brilliance of this song. But yes the video was breath taking. Lol I chuckled at the part you wrote that she took it all off for the remix. While she still looked great in the remix and I love that hairstyle, I am not a fan of the video. However I do adore the remix version. It was great, the mash up was done so seamlessly, goes on to show how great MC is at remixes. Anyways back to the original video, I was reading the wiki page for it and in one part the director was talking about how the overturned boat scene reflected MC's vulnerability in the song (I guess because one wrong move and she'd end up in the water) but yeah I think that was a brilliant way to portray it. I think you described it best when you said that the video is art, because well that's what it is, a beautiful piece of art. I hope MC gets back with Brett Ratner, Paul Hunter, Diane Martel and Jake Nava for her future videos. Eventhough I didn't like the video for Boy, I'd like her to also work with Joseph Kahn because he did a great job with Taylor's "Blank space" video.

My All (50,388) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I was just browsing through when I suddenly realized that it has been ages (really ages) since I last saw the video of My All. Which is weird because it's one of my most favorite MC tracks. Anyways so going through the video I realized that I had forgotten how hauntingly beautiful the video is. Everything about it is so simple but so gorgeous. The shots of Mariah on the over turned boat, her gorgeous hair, the simple black dress, the hot lighthouse dude (hello there) and most of all Mariah's expressions. She seems so lost and vulnerable while she's laying there singing about her love. The video is simple, not a lot of hoo haa and yet it manages to capture the meaning and essence of the song so perfectly. Plus the black and white really does add a whole new dimension to each of the shot. So just giving a shout out to the gorgeous video.
