Marissa / Nikki (46,907) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Marissa, I completely agree with what you said about her wanting the dominant position in the family after being abused by Tommy, which is understandable and she tried the polar opposite situation and that didn't end well. So it's true the relation should have a balance where they work as a team and not leader-follower. Nikki, you mentioned some really good points which I had in my mind but I completely forgot to write. I don't know what makes Abraham dislike Dwayne but Dwayne is possibly one of the best celebrities to date. He has been so successful in different professions, which is not easy. He gets lead roles in big movies ranging from epic to comedy. Let's not even get into his legendary wrestling status. He is super rich, does not have a bad image, is considered to be very friendly with a sense of humor (which we know Mariah loves). He is mature and homely. He sometimes sings too which is cute. I think Dwayne is a major catch. Apart from these the man lacks nothing in the looks department as well. Fit as anything, gorgeous face and an electrifying smile (another thing common with Mariah). Plus they are in close age range, no one would dominate the other since they are equally well off. I said this before, I didn't know who on earth NC is before MC. Even now I just know he hosts AGT and some other gigs. On the other hand, the whole world (even people who don't watch wrestling) knows who The Rock is. Michele / Abraham (46,901) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Michele, I agree with your point and I don't really find Nick handsome. Dwayne on the other hand is yummy. Abraham, maybe you didn't read my post properly. I said "out of Mariah's rumored boyfriends after her split with Nick". Shemar Moore wasn't rumored to be her boyfriend. If I had to choose from any celebrities I can obviously name a lot of people who would make a great pair with Mariah. But like I said, I was choosing from the rumors. Plus I do think Dwayne deserves Mariah. He is an international superstar. Almost everyone knows who "The Rock" is. He did Hercules just a while back which was got him positive reviews. He was a part of many well known movies. The man is good at comedy and serious roles. He is hot and handsome. He seems very humble and has a good sense of humor. I really don't see why Mariah wouldn't like him. As for Nick, I also did mention that it's her choice if she wants him back, I don't have any complains, her happiness is more important and if Nick makes her happy so be it but seems like lately he only makes her miserable with his antics. And I do not agree that love should be the last thing on her mind, she is a human being first and an entertainer second. She deserves love as much as the rest of us. I would want her to be happy first and then think about her career. Whether that involves a man or not is a whole other topic. (Tuesday 23 September 2014; 0:45)

Mariah's dating rumors (46,894) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Out of all the rumored MC boyfriends after her split with Nick Cannon, I'd say I will root for the one with Dwayne Johnson. Yes yes I am aware that it's not true and they were pictured together just once, I still root for him. If Mariah chooses to go back to Nick, it's fine, I mean at the end of the day it's her life and I would want her to be with whoever makes her happy. But if it comes down rumors, I would love to see Mariah date Dwayne. After seeing how childish and immature Nick is (from his motor mouth to him dressing as a teenager) I'd say Mariah deserves a manly man. And Dwayne is just that. A handsome, sexy, confident, world famous celebrity in his own right and humble. I didn't know who Nick was before MC, but I've know about "The Rock" even before I was a lamb. I have noticed the dramatic changes in Mariah's outfit choices and the fact that she has been avoiding the type of outfits that were giving her negative press. Plus she looks absolutely radiant, it's like she got 10 years younger all of a sudden. The latest pictures of her at the aquarium are gorgeous. She even posted pictures from what she considers her "unflattering side" of the face (something she never does), which in my opinion is not unflattering at all. She looks happy. I think this tour will be good for her. She'll stay busy and in routine and she'll also have a vacation along the way which will help distract her from all the negativity about the marriage. Really happy to see Mariah taking care of herself. I think she has finally started being comfortable about herself. (Saturday 20 September 2014; 10:20)

The tour (46,848) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I do hope in addition to songs from the new album, Mariah sings some songs from E=MC2 and Memoirs. Not just the singles, but some album cuts like Side Effects and Inseparable. I would also love for her to film one of the shows to later put it out on DVD. I have not been lucky enough to catch her tours so I love watching it and getting the feel of it from the taped shows. (Friday 19 September 2014; 14:39)

By now I probably know every hand movement and I also do the "head shake" she does when things get to intense, "the mild head shake while simultaneously looking downwards", "the eyebrow routine with or without 1 palm up", "the slow spin with one hand up in the air" (this is fairly recent from We Belong Together), there is another move I don't know how to describe it, "the mouth stretch" where she stretches her mouth muscles to put emphasis on the words and this is usually paired with the eyebrow routine, then there is the "simultaneous look down both palms up" (usually I crack that during Heartbreaker), the real swift "look right left and throw head back and give the audience a confident gaze" she does at the end of a killer vocal moment at the end of a song. One part I am not sure about is the idea that the comparisons will help get Mariah a new batch of fresh audience. While it may be true, from my experience I think it probably really won't help Mariah, because I never bothered listening to the people Mariah was compared to or the people she cited as her influences. Mariah wasn't the first to use the whistle note but I never bothered checking up on the people she was influenced by, I just heard Mariah and took it like she was the first to do it and that's it. So same can be said about Ariana's fans. They may not care who she is copying or who she is influenced by. They may just not bother checking up on Mariah at all because let's face it Ariana's fans are pre-teens and their tastes are quite different. (Friday 12 September 2014; 15:35)

Lee (46,745) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter That video was amazing. I was laughing so hard. MC and Beyonce's impersonation was spot on. I have seen previous videos of Jessica and although she looks a lot like Mariah during Rainbow and Glitter era, I thought her impersonation was not really that great, she didn't always get the hand movements and expressions right, but in this video she was flawless as Mariah. It was awesome. The one who played Beyonce managed to get the perfect voice. P.S. Is it only me or does all MC fans tend to eventually start talking and doing hand gestures like MC? I've noticed many times that whenever a Mariah songs comes out and I am singing along I start doing hand movements and pulling expressions and I'll look at the computer screen and I see MC doing the same pose right at that moment. I guess we all study her so intimately that it kind of translates into our (or atleast my) body language. (Thursday 11 September 2014; 21:07)

Myles (46,744) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I respect your opinion but I just want to say that I don't think Mariah's enunciation was ever as bad as Ariana's. I hardly ever understand what Ariana says. Even in the song problem, the only line I understood on my own at first was "I've got one less problem without you" and that part was sung by big Sean. I didn't have problems understanding Breakdown or Miss You from the first listen although I will admit that I could not understand what she ad libs around the end of Breakdown. For Mariah the case is maybe that we sometimes don't understand her ad libs, the recent one being Thirsty's ending. But for Ariana it's the whole song. Too much screeching. Mariah has this soothing voice of a storyteller. I can listen to her talk for hours. But anyways just want to clear it out that I am not trying to push my views on you, I am just sharing my opinion about your post. (Thursday 11 September 2014; 20:59)

May / Ariana (46,718) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I completely agree that the whole comparison came as a publicity ploy by her team and for sure it backfired somewhat. I did notice in the second album she tried songs very different from Mariah's (as opposed to the first album where she tried everything Mariah). The songs I heard didn't even feature the whistle note that she has been trying to sell (I didn't listen to all the songs). But my main point is that the media always comes up with Mariah comparisons just based on a person being able to hit a high note. They forget that Mariah wouldn't be the superstar she is today if she didn't have creative input in her career. She writes songs that touches people and to top it off she sings in a voice that mesmerizes people and these are some of the reasons she got so successful. MC isn't all about yelling at the top of her lungs putting a random whistle note just for the sake of it in a song (Ariana does that a lot, she screeches away and will insert a random whistle). Her arrangements are flawless. I heard that Ariana now specifically mentions that the media can't ask her about MC. Her albums do sell because she is "in" right now so it surprises me how she didn't manage to snag a #1 single yet. Nowadays it seems like even I can get a #1 single if I come up with song but back it up with a publicity stunt (and I will admit I am a horrible singer). Don't get me wrong I don't hate Ariana, she just tries to hard. There is nothing effortless about her. (Wednesday 10 September 2014; 18:05)

The next Mariah (46,709) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Ariana taking Mariah's place, that part cracks me up big time. No one can be the next Mariah until they can sing like Mariah, no one can be the next Mariah until they can write songs like Mariah (even after 25 years) no one can be the next Mariah until they can produce songs like Mariah and no one can be the next Mariah until they are as effortlessly elegant and fabulous like Mariah. Summing it up, there will probably never be another Mariah Carey. People may surpass her record (because nowadays people can get #1s with gimmicks), people can get more famous than her, but nobody can come close to the "artist" that is Mariah Carey. She isn't just a singer. She is one of the best singers (even with her current imperfections), she is an outstanding song writer (who has the capability to write songs that sounds fresh and current every time without selling out to the current trend), and special shout out to her lyrics. Mariah is not just about singing high and hitting the whistle note here and there, she is a legend who has stood the test of time. Plus Ariana needs to really work on her enunciation, I can hardly understand what she sings most of the time because she is just yelling away at me. And no her age is no excuse, Mariah was singing flawlessly at that age, so if one wants to be the next Mariah, they should try to be everything Mariah Carey stands for. I still don't see four #1s from Ariana's debut album like Mariah had. (Wednesday 10 September 2014; 12:14)

Thirsty (46,702) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Thirsty may also be about Damizza. I will stick to the opinion that it's not about Nick. Every line in a song can't be taken literally. She probably said "Tom Fords" because that's the brand that came to her head or the other brands were not fitting well into the lyrics. Mariah is way above dissing her husband in an upbeat song like this. The others I will believe because they are emotional ballads. (Wednesday 10 September 2014; 1:21)

Songs (46,688) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I agree with Bill, Thirsty is definitely not about Nick. It might sound that way but Thirsty was not written this year. By the way a person who did change his name is Eminem. But if it was about him the other lines don't make sense because he is pretty popular and he doesn't wear Tom Fords. Some one posted that they think Mariah changed up a lot of the songs when she pushed back the album this year to include her feelings about the current situation. However Mariah stated clearly that she only added 3 songs. One is definitely Money (two dead giveaways about this is the fact that the song starts with "I can't leave it like this" and second she posted a picture with Fabolous during the time she supposedly recorded the 3 new songs). I don't understand why people think Money is about Nick. It's not a diss record, it's a song where the protagonist sings Money and all doesn't matter because at the end of the day she goes back to her love. Another new song might be Camouflage. This song sounds way to personal and heart wrenching for it to be anything but true feelings coming from Mariah. I am sure this is about Nick and their failing marriage. Faded is about Nick too but not necessarily about the divorce. She recorded it quite a while back and I think it was more about her feeling alone and abandoned by Nick since he was away working so much and she was alone with the kids. And the one with the "did my own makeup" caption is even cuter because she acknowledges her eyeliner was messy and it actually is messy which shows she is a bit more relaxed about looking perfect. She looks like she lost weight and looks so beautiful and healthy. The other close up she posted of her face makes her look so fresh and beautiful. She looks like she is in her 30s. Now I would love a music video of Mariah's where she would recreate moments from some of her iconic music videos (I'm thinking VOL, Heartbreaker, Honey, Breakdown, WBT, SIO, My All, ABMB). Good Lord what wouldn't I do to have some inside scoop on what MC's been working on. Content wise, Mariah has never (and I want to say "never" in all capital letters but webmaster won't allow it) disappointed us. So I can't wait for new songs. However there is a great chance she won't release anything at all this year, maybe a single at most to kick off the next era. Because I keep thinking she has something big planned for her 25th year. Shelly (46,536) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Shelly, I agree with the post you wrote. It doesn't sound judgmental at all and I feel the same way. Mariah is undoubtedly a person with a great heart however somewhere along the lines I think she did get lost in her own world of blings and money and what not. I can't blame her, she's not the only celebrity to have done this and I probably would be lost in my own world if I was half as successful as her. But her image has become so bad, she needs a reality check. I like your idea about her visiting third world countries (I come from one too). I think it would really ground her. Angelina Jolie said something along the lines that she used to be bratty and not appreciate life as much until she visited some war torn countries and that changed her so much that she saw how small her problems were compared to the real world problems. Whenever I read comments beneath Mariah articles they are always so full of hate and negativity, it bothers me. It would be great if Mariah starts feeling comfortable with her age and size. I am not saying she should start wearing sweat pants, just saying that be comfortable being who she is. She is insecure about herself and I think like MJ she is scared of growing old so she refuses to let go of it. I am sorry, this is definitely not one of my good posts. I meant like Mariah never does duets with female singers (except Whitney, which was way too long back). She includes female rappers but never a female singer. So that is what I meant, that I hope she comes out of it and records with a current female artist. I realized the mistake after posting it. But I agree with your points nonetheless. Up Out My Face (46,514) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I know many fans hate this video, but I was watching it again today and honestly I don't mind it, it's actually fun to watch. While I will admit, they could have had a much better scenery/set, I enjoy it. Here's why: (1) It's one of those rare videos of Mariah where she is really animated. Like I know there are many where she dances around and all, but how much does it really happen nowadays? (2) Instead of trying to be the "always perfectly poised diva", MC goes on to poke fun at herself. Like the shot where when Nicki and MC try to break out of their doll boxes and Nicki comes out perfectly poised, but MC loses her balance and falls down. Also the part at the end where she is trying to pull that part popper type thing and confetti burst from two sides and she gets scared. I think both these shots were super cute and funny. (3) There is not a single shot of her lying down with her hair fanned around her face and the camera shooting from above (don't get me wrong, I think she looks extremely gorgeous from that angle but hello don't we already have WBT, DFAU, Obsessed, Li'l Love?). (4) She seems to be having a lot of fun instead of sitting in one place, staring at the camera trying to be sexy but coming off as uncomfortable. (5) MC is actually running around in the video, like I don't remember that happening very often. (Sunday 31 August 2014; 6:35)
