The Remixes (63,319) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
Could somebody here tell me why I Still Believe/Pure Imagination Remix is excluded from the album tracklisting? Columbia omitted that version and up until now, I feel it seems incomplete. I know it was a Columbia release but at least they chose a better picture for the CD cover. It is very tacky.

Re: Billy, B, Giovanni and One Sweet Day (63,310) (63,318) by darrian liu from taiwan
The problem is that Mariah, while I have to admit, isn't the best live performer although she performs well, is a different singer than Whitney, Kelly, Patti or Aretha. I'll just use Whitney to simplify. While both have big voices, Whitney is a singer that relies on the sheer size of her voice and manipulates more on her volume. She is more of the singer that impresses with a single sustained note instead of an intricate melismatic line. Whitney's singing is centered on her power and her acrobatics usually involve power note after power note after power note (the same goes to Aretha, Patti, etc). Meanwhile, Mariah doesn't naturally have the capability to sustain high notes at high volumes. Instead, she relies on her agility and manipulates her voice's texture a lot, as well as making out melodies. Of course, power notes gain more praise that agile runs (that's why Mariah gets much less standing ovations than Whitney, big powerful notes always gain more praises than switching in between textures or insane runs because the public have an easier time understanding powerful belts compared to melisma). Both are equally gifted technical vocalist but are very different. Dare I say, comparing Mariah to Whitney is like comparing Beyoncé (MC) to Jennifer Hudson (WH). Beyonce, like Mariah also relies more on runs and textures while Jennifer's trademark is the same as Whitney's trademark, which is big powerful notes.

Randy / Kelly Price (63,317) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Yes you are correct, Kelly Price sang background vocals on early MC work along with MC herself, her sister (Sharnae Price) and the incredibly gifted Melonie Daniels-Walker. She also learned from MC about the importance of publishing as well. So I gathered MC taught her the ins and outs of the studio and also gave her some business tips as far as publishing and copyrights.

Re: Repetitive Vegas show (63,298) (63,316) by ADAM from USA
I know. I feel like she hyped up so much that she was going to make small changes to the show for repeat visitors and yet its always the same hack. Same thing for SSFT. She's lazy. She has such a big catalog of songs to sing and could take 10 minutes in a 1.5 hour show so sing acapella some obscure cuts for fans and yet always does not. It really bothers me. This is not something the band has to rehearse or needs an additional costume change. I keep thinking what she did during Jimmy Kimmel's outdoor show where she sang The Roof was clever and appropriate to sing whatever fans requested in the room. How amazing would it have been to go to Vegas and hear her sing Breakdown, Sllpping Away, Prisoner, or Do You Think Of Me?

Randy, I think you have to realize that you don't really like Mariah apparently, sorry to tell you. It seems you marvel at all these other divas, and you can only see Mariah as inferior to them. Which is fine, but I don't see the reason why you want to believe in Mariah when in fact you don't. It seems to me you love the big belters. I love all the classic big voiced divas (not screamers with no sense of melody a la Aguilera) but I relish Mariah's voice both for the resonant mid belts but also for those textured hypnotic areas of her voice (which they sound even more seducing live) as well as for the all the sophisticated jazz influences she brings in, which become more and more prominent as years go by. Whitney could just open her mouth and floor you, no doubt. But the intricacies of Mariah's vocal "decisions" and transitions are simply unmatched. The subtleties and nuances that her voice achieves cannot be undermined by comparisons to big belters.

Re: Butterfly's anniversary (63,311) (63,314) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Fourth Of July will always be my favorite song on Butterfly (not that it was an easy choice at all). So lush, dreamy and colorful. Painting a romantic date through words has never been this magical. Some of the best minutes of my life was listening to it immediately after Underneath The Stars for the first time. Try it and if you aren't feeling even slightly fuzzy and warm right after, you're probably dead inside.

If anyone had any suspicions of Mariah cheating, I think this makes it all more believable, it's just my opinion. Tell me what you think.

Hi Tevin, I really enjoyed your comment. For me it's nearly the same. I love Daydream so much. But if you listen to the Butterfly album I although see similar pictures that you described. The songwriting on Butterfly is I have to say epic and phenomenal. Especially "Close me eyes". You feel that song every second and can dream with open eyes. It's almost a bit meditative. The same with "Fourth of July".

Re: Billy, B, Giovanni and One Sweet Day (63,304) (63,310) by Randy from USA
Giovanni we're gonna have to agree to disagree. Kelly Price sings back. I may not like her personality, after R&B Divas, but she sings back. All I Want For Christmas, O Holy Night and Fantasy (album version), the backgrounds are all Kelly Price. I definitely don't agree with you on Fantasia and J-Hud as to me they are the torch carriers from Aretha and Patti. And the list of performances you pulled. She lip synced on AMA 2008 and on almost every WBT ever. She either used the album or a raspy backing track when she performed the last hook until her microphone cut back on at the end. The others were good for her but not good when held up against others. Finally, The Essence Awards. Whitney got a standing ovation for coming out and singing a few notes, while I felt MC struggled through that performance, look at her face, and nobody stood for her. See this. But at this point I realize I'm just beating a dead horse to death lol. Pray for Orlando.

My deepest condolences to those who were hurt and/or killed by the shooting. It's a cruel world we live in. Sigh.

Re: Incompetent (63,276) (63,308) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
RJJ12, I respect your opinions and your post but please being a 13 year old is no excuse for the mess that Mariah's instagram has become, especially when you have taken up a huge responsibility. This photo is only one of the many messy posts. Plus the horrible captions and emojis? People who are not lambs will be thinking it's Mariah. Sometimes it looks like she doesn't even try to find good pictures and will upload just about anything. Like the picture with half of the caption cropped off, the other edit of Mariah some fan made where they made her even thinned unnecessarily. Then the random post which was unflattering for everyone including Mariah but just Mishka was looking good. I don't complain about Mishka constantly shadowing Mariah anymore and trying to get camera action, because I get it, it's cool to hang out with a major superstar and experience her life style and a 13 year old can't resist that. But if she takes over charge of Mariah's instagram, something which is like a bridge between Mariah and the fans/GP, this is not acceptable. Mariah gets dragged in the comments for the silly emojis and captions and so does Mishka. It's one thing to be a part of Mariah's entourage and enjoy her lifestyle, but it's not the same when she starts getting involved in the professional aspect. And say what you want, the social media is a powerful tool in a celebrity's life. Mariah's previous instagram feed was much more interesting that it is now. Now it looks like the instagram of a 13 year old.

Kelly Price (63,307) by Giovanni from USA
Is a bitter, jealous woman who had no successful solo career. Her talent is minimal, so anything she has to say about Mariah is irrelevant.

Deedre (63,306) by Giovanni from USA
I adored Selena. Not as much as Mariah but I was a fan of her music and personality. She was so sweet, humble and was a very good role model. I also loved how much she stood for education. I always think about where she would be today if she were alive. She had her whole life and career ahead of her. And it was taken by an evil, jealous obsessed person. Selena was a star and would have been a legend today. My favorite songs are "No quiero saber", "Baila esta cumbia", "La carcacha" and "Techno cumbia". I also enjoy "Que creias", "El toro relajo" and "I'm getting used to you". Love her vocals on "El toro relajo".

Re: Butterfly's anniversary (63,280) (63,305) by Tevin from USA
And please throw the lyrics for The Roof in with the rest release lol, it's my second favorite song on that album but half of the song you don't even know what the heck Mariah is saying. Lol yet it sounds so good. It's crazy because even though Daydream is my favorite album because of the songs and the sound and it brings me back to my childhood memories, Butterfly when I listen to it takes me into another world sort of speak, like I feel like I'm not just listening to a beautiful song, it makes you feel like your living inside of the song or are a part of it. Like you can see agent m going past you in a jet ski, or you're lost in the forest from hiking and you see a beautiful woman running around with an unbridaled horse, or your standing outside in the pouring rain while taking part in a roof top event. Lol as crazy as it sounds and I do joke but seriously though it may not be a polished and have as memorable songs as Daydream, Butterfly does embody what a true album should be, which is something that you feel you have experienced even if you never have and you only heard it through a song. How do you guys feel about the album?

Randy I love you but I don't think you're giving Mariah enough credict for her live performances after '97. She gave countless amazing performances after that year. "If only you knew"/"Somewhere over the rainbow" at the Essence awards 1998. (Mariah was hitting those notes effortlessly and did that amazing translation. She also gave Patti her life that night.) "Love hanger"/"Heartbreaker" at Divas live 2000. "Vision of love" in Zurich 2003. "You and I" at BET Walk Of Fame 2003. "Vision of love" at BET Blueprint 2005. "We belong together" at BET awards 2005. "With you I'm born again" with John Legend at VH1 Save the music 2005. "I stay in love" at American music awards 2008. "Fly like a bird" at American Idol 2008. (Probably the best performance of the song. Mariah was killing those whistle notes.) "We belong together" on Good Morning America 2013. "Hero" at Human Rights Civilization Gala 2015. To name a few. Im not really impressed with Jennifer Hudson or Fantasia. Jennifer has a loud voice but I don't like her tone. She can't do riffs and runs. Fantasia is okay but her tone isn't very pleasant. I think Kristine W, Yolanda Adams, Jessie J, Joss Stone and Beyonce all crush both of them vocally. Lastly, I love Celine but her voice has changed big time. And she does lip sync a lot in Vegas. She lipped the majority of her performance at the Billboard.

Me. I Am was sonically pleasing, but in my opinion to be honest, there was a emotional disconnect in her voice, the production and engineering gave the emotion. Sorry this is my opinion dahlings.

Re: State of mind (armchair psychology) (63,288) (63,300) by Amber C from USA
She's embarrassing herself, not me. I've reached the point were undying support is no longer. She has let me down, she doesn't care about fans, she doesn't even communicate on social media. The only great thing about Mariah is the music. Since that's no longer, well.

Remember two years ago Nick's father wrote a scene on his fb that seemed like he was talking about Nick and Mariah? Drugs were alluded to as was drinking. And Mariah look have gone done the drain pretty fast, her whole family has good aging genes so it worries me somehow idk.

Repetitive Vegas show (63,298) by Dustbin from USA
In the age of YouTube everyone sees every performance. I know it's #1's, but Mariah should make each show different. Something special for the fans that go that particular night. A different song or a cover, a fan request. Adele, Celine, Whitney, Sam Smith, Britney. A cover would go viral. Just a thought.

Mariah Carey #1 to infinity June 10 highlights (63,297) by 123 from USA
Nice vocals on Vision Of Love, One Sweet Day (go Trey), My All. TGIFY just keeps getting better and better. Her voice sounds so full, and her transitions are so sick, I can only imagine how she sounded in person.

I love the Butterfly Garden interview. And the one she does that same era in Australia. She's lying on a coach in a brown outfit. But she gives a lot of insightful answers about writing music, music genres, and mixing during that interview which I really enjoy hearing about.
