About jaker20 from US: You Will Never Be MC

Rainbow 25th anniversary was a great release (108,163) by jaker20 from US
It has a lot of new gems in it. The extended Rainbow's End is one of the best remixes of last year, and I think it will slowly be a classic. If only Mariah put the same effort on Daydream, TEOM, MC OG this year.

Frustrated lamb (108,162) by jaker20 from US
That's how her career is right now: like she doesn't know what's going on or she doesn't care. When she performed With You a couple of years ago, it was at least a production. She times the chorus of the songs with the movement of the feathers, she walks where the dancer are in focus, etc etc. It was not dance choreo, but there was some production there and she's involved.

Now she just walks out and let the dancers do their thing. To me that's a sign that she's not involved anymore. The production and dancers are do their thing and she's given some cues while she's maybe watching TV somewhere or baking.

The lack of effort is reflection of her career right now. No effort, no releases. And from what we've seen, even walking is a huge effort for her. So maybe not even a phone call to collaborators because that's time consuming for her to dial the phone. Just none.

Well in fairness, it's not like Trey himself is in the same level as when I'll Be There was released. Mariah's circle of collaborators is so small and the same people from 30 years ago and they're all in it together.

And that's a downside of it. Because that also means she's not working with new talents, and getting inspired, she's not creating anymore. And her constantly hopping on to Vegas with no new material makes it worse.

She have the holiday season where she's basically doing the same thing over and over. She got the Queen of Christmas label, which she does nothing about. If that's another artist, they would grab it and release a new Christmas album every year, or release a music video of an old Christmas song, or release a new collab every year, and she can't even do any of that.

She's not even doing any new "act" or productions. Remember Bette Midler's shows? It's a show, there's an act each time she's on stage. Either getting into a basic choreo, or character, or creating a world of make believe on stage.

Some artists collaborate when they're blocked, or they remix some of their old songs, they reinvent their materials. Cher turned into a club goddess late in her career and it became her biggest hit.

Mariah meanwhile, she is not writing, she's not making new songs, she's not collaborating, she doesn't get into her show's act. She just walks out on stage and does her same old same old. Nothing new. She's just going through the motions right now.

She actually looks completely bored. I would be too if I'm doing the same tired thing over and over for the last 30 years. It's all about waiting for December and see how the Billboard charts will look for her, nothing else.

Barbra and Mariah (108,135) by jaker20 from US
Barbra: 36 studio albums, 12 compilations, and 15 soundtracks

Mariah: 15 studio albums, 6 compilations. 0 soundtracks

Do you see where I'm going here? 2 years later, the album she's saying already have 5 songs done, and she still can't finish it. And now Barbra, who is 82 is releasing another album, while Mariah is doing Vegas with no new song, not even a collab, a remix, or anything.

It is so annoying that every single year, after very Christmas peaks, she can't come up with something, anything. Annoying and sad really. Forget voice or anything, I don't think she's got artistry left anymore tbh. Voice can be layered, remixed and be done with studio work. Artistry you can't, that's really what's she's lost.

Last Christmas (107,862) by jaker20 from US
I think that's partly driven by this year being LC's 40th anniversary with various vinyl releases, documentary, etc, Columbia pulling all the stops this year. Its the same with RACTC 65th anniversary promo last year resulting to it reaching number one. And then this year Brenda is not even competitive.

Merry Christmas 3 (107,861) by jaker20 from US
I think Mariah is more likely to make another Christmas album than any genre. At least that's what I get from her recent interviews. She sounds passionate about it and recently said that she's planning to record another classic Christmas song. Or maybe its just her feeling the season.

Her Christmas catalog is turning out to be a monster success, maybe she wants to capture this moment. And with the current state of pop music being disposable, the timing for another Christmas album would be perfect for her. But that also means many disappoint longtime lambs. But that's where we are right now.

Merry Christmas.

Article: Mariah and Anderson .Paak seen holding hands in Aspen (107,855) by jaker20 from US
I feel like Ed Sheeran would complement Mariah's current voice more, they would blend a lot better with her current voice, and that would open a lot of potential collabs for her, pop with a blend of R&B but with 70s vibe is what I'm thinking.

Passion again (107,824) by jaker20 from US
Mariah's career has turned out to be quite unique. It's incomparable and insane actually, if you think about it. Even The Beatles didn't get this kind of career re-peak.

Mariah's non-Christmas tour this year ended up being the highest grossing R&B female tour, and then she had to prepare for her back to back international stadiums for China and Rio, so by Christmas season, she's already done so much. Then she got sick and skipped 2 sold out Christmas shows. She burned out.

That's not what you'd think someone of Mariah's caliber would be doing in this stage of her career. I don't think she imagined her Christmas legacy would turn out like this, it's bringing in new lambs, and it's going to challenge the success she built in the past, because it gets bigger and bigger every year. It's a very attractive turn of events for her.

So is there space for a new album? Lets see: She probably start planning for Christmas by [September] if not earlier. This year, she announced it around [August], probably start putting together the team then.

So now this is something she will do every single year. Maybe she'll change it up by doing a few international Christmas dates. They been sending that message to her for years.

And with the success of China and Rio this year, I can imagine she'll be doing that again a few times over.

So she really only have a few months in a year for an album, and unless she is willing to commit at least 4-6 months to it, she won't release it. And I don't see her doing that. It's not a priority for her. If she does, it's likely an album or remixes, and even then she probably will hardly promote it.

Passion on albums, or lack thereof (107,823) by jaker20 from US
I'm puzzled why she's not lining up a banger immediately after Christmas when awareness is very high. She said last year that she's had 5 songs ready. So why is she not able to complete it?

All she needs is one solid banger, or a collab. But she does not seem to have any interest in it, which is very puzzling.

On her recent interview, it seems like she does not care. It sounds like she is getting all her life from Christmas catalog. And I understand, what a fantastic catalog it is. It brought her success into insane stratosphere levels.

But its becoming clear that is losing her artist side. When really, all it takes is one song. Just one good song to carry an entire album.

Very few artists want to invest in real albums anymore. It's good for newcomers to establish their names. But in the streaming era, it seems albums are so disposable. Artists put effort in full tracks and it takes a button press to skip.

Even established names don't seem to care about albums. Beyonce abandoned hers, Ariana just recently said no new music anytime soon even after a successful album this year. Even Taylor's album has 26 or so songs, is that even an album anymore or just to gain streaming count. Adele said no new music anytime soon.

I think Mariah is scared to release an album that will fail. I hope she just focus on 1. That's what Cher's Believe did. What a song it was and it carried an entire album. Otherwise, I don't really think she'll put effort into finishing one.

Why WBT again? (107,482) by jaker20 from US
I wish she had done a deeper cut from TEOM, that would make the gp think in its 20th anniversary that the album is a timeless classic full of bops.

With that being said, it's amazing to see the new gen really feeling it. WB is a timeless pop song. It's amazing that it was created fairly quickly. She also looks great, which I think is part of the song's visuals.

Which makes me think that maybe her "Believe" is just around the corner, and with the right song, it's going to come out of nowhere with a bang like Cher did.

DFAU (107,443) by jaker20 from US
This reminds me of Toni Braxton's remix performance of Unbreak My Heart remix, and also Mariah's own My All version at Diva's Live where she switched the end from ballad to upbeat, dance remix. That's what she should do with DFAU. Lambs don't seem to consider this song as one of her best, but I personally love it. But I would love a good twist.

Mariah's mom and sister both died on same day (107,281) by jaker20 from US
I actually think her relationship with her mom being complicated, doesn't mean strained. We don't know the full facts.

We've seen them together a lot, and they seem to get along. I see a lot of love there. Maybe by complicated it means her mom being in the middle, or just normal family disagreements like we all do. Again, we don't know to speculate.

So I don't instantly believe her relationship with her mom is strained, we have not seen evidence of this. I think that part is overblown.

Mariah's mom and sister died on the same day (107,274) by jaker20 from US
You're making so many assumptions about Mariah and her relationship with her sister Morgan. You don't know how toxic or abusive their relationship was, or if there's anything at all. We don't know. We can't just bring ourselves into this.

We've seen couples from divorces, and toxic family relationships where everyone's just better off if there's no contact at all. I'm sure the smart and resilient woman that she is, she has already given that plenty of thought, to do what's best for her.

And now that she has kids, she even has even more to consider beyond herself. In the end. we and we do what is best for us, our experiences are different.

Rainbow 25 (106,697) by jaker20 from US
I love TGIFY but I felt like they had no chemistry. I agree that it probably would have been better if it's just Joe. Three artists is a bit of a crowd and on stage, it's even more crowded for her interact with. It's strange how that came about. As far as I know, Mariah's never talked about her collaboration with 98D when all of her collaborations have a story. With that said, I love the song itself, it's actually one of my most played songs in the album when I first had it. Sometimes, I wonder if she will ever add it on her setlist and 98D and Joe show up as a surprise.

I love every single version of the song, including the jazzy one that she performed live a few years ago in Vegas, which she completely slayed by the way.

He's been bitter since 1997 but it only came to light when Rainbow was released. He thought Mariah was nothing without him so when the album came out and she seem to be doing just fine and giving no feks about him and then back in the dating game is probably when he started puling those strings in the background.

Caution is probably better than TEOM (106,578) by jaker20 from US
I think both albums are good for different reasons.

TEOM is a huge creative leap for Mariah. The lyrics are slightly more mature and multi-dimensional. Up until that album, Mariah's album titles were one word, and they were all cohesive as one full era. But on TEOM, Mariah is definitely more free in experimentation and creativity, and she was trying new things, and it shows in the beats of the album, like One and Only, SIO and Say Something. Even Stay the Night does not feel like a traditional Mariah song, but somehow it fits here.

Caution to me is a masterpiece. If Mariah had followed up immediately after its release, it would have set a standard for her. If it had been released after the recent boom of AIWFCIY the reception would have definitely been better. Just like Mariah had a 1990-2004 era, I feel like Caution marks a new era for her too, but unfortunately, she hasn't followed up with a similar path. Here, Mariah is embracing her new voice and being playful with it. The tracks themselves have more genre influences than she's done before, from jazzy pop to EDM, but still recognizably R&B.

For me, there is no way to compare the two, they were very different. I don't think people overpraise it because of its commercial success. It's the other way around. It's a commercial success because it's undeniably a great album that many think it is.

The Rarities 2 expectations (106,566) by jaker20 from US
I would like that too. But if it's going to be low-budget with Mariah just be posing, I would rather not. AIWFCIY's video is one of her best. But before that, he last decent video was probably I Stay In Love. It had a concept, a story, and she looked great.

Since then it's been terrible. Remember when they hyped the release of I'll Be Loving You Long Time, and it turns out to be just her posing in a bikini? If #Beautiful had a great video, it would have been a bigger hit because it's one of her best songs ever. Same with H.A.T.E.U.
