About RadChad from United States: Mariah is my favorite singer of all time.

Random epiphany (40,871) by RadChad from United States
I'm listening to my MP3 player at work at the moment and the live version of Marvin Gaye's "Distant Lover" comes on and I think wow how great would it be for Mariah Carey to cover this song. I would love to hear her dig deep and sang with this much soul. Then to confirm this epiphany "Butterfly"comes on right aftwards. I hope this was a sign. Just a random wish.

Two things (40,730) by RadChad from United States
I absolutely love the idea of Mariah covering Why Does It Hurt So Bad, I would actually prefer that over You Give Good Love. So I guess that would make me team Post Mariah Whitney now. As for her secret duet partner, I hope it isn't Usher. He's had a bleak attitude towards Mariah in the past. Some of you may remember the behind the scenes video in 05 or 06, when they both were at a party with JD and Usher kept intentionally blowing cigar smoke towards Mariah's face, when JD was making a speech in her honor. In the following clip (which was the next day), Mariah mentioned she had a great time "even though some people were acting bleak", I'm sure it was Usher. I think a duet with Justin Timberlake would be more interesting creatively if we want to break it down. Okay enough male duet partners for this album. I want something with Chaka, Celine, Aretha, Pattie, or Anita or maybe all of them on one song.

Long over due (40,687) by RadChad from United States
The person Im really waiting for Mariah to cover is Minnie Riperton. If she covered Memory Lane, Here We Go, or even the risqué Inside My Love as a hidden bonus track treat, I'd be in heaven already. Come Mimi, what are you waiting for? Join in everybody, "Do it do it do it!" Lol. Chaka Khan would be another diva I would love to hear her cover. Everlasting Love, Your Smile, Please Pardon Me, would all suit her voice rather nicely.

Two covers (40,647) by RadChad from United States
The rumor was that she's covering Whitney Houston's "You Give Good Love" and the second cover is obviously "Lullaby To Bird-land". I think both would be epic and she will be bringing her A game vocally. Especially with the Whitney cover. I'm excited, I just hope she stays in best voice throughout this era and the videos are on point.

Daydream album (40,459) by RadChad from United States
Meltway, Long Ago, and Daydream Interlude are actually my go to songs on the album. It's funny how different our taste are. I couldn't imagine Daydream without those tracks, I think Slipping Away would've been a perfect addition after ABMB. Even though I can see how someone could think "When I Saw You" is boring (I thought the same upon first listen), I still love the song and the lazy vocals.

I agree with Licia and Edward (40,296) by RadChad from United States
Mariah has had an illustrious career, her legacy will live on. As she should at this point in her life shes putting her family first, It's obvious that she's growing frustrated with the industry, and the label. I wouldn't be mad if this is her last album. Like Edward said, I just want her to get her voice back on point, I would hate to see her struggle through another decade of live performances and get constantly dragged on social media. So I just hope she prepared to bring it with this album and I hope she gets her voice in order, so she can go out with a bang. Thank you Mariah for being an unparallel inspiration in my life for the past 23 years, I can honestly say I loved all your albums and your music has been the soundtrack of my life and no one's voice or music has moved me as much as yours have. Happy holidays to the lambily.

Should Mariah retire? (40,105) by RadChad from United States
It has been obvious that something "happened" to her voice since 97 and it has declined since then over the years (with occasional ups but more downs in recent years), so her announcing her vocal issues wouldn't even matter at this point, because anybody who's a fan like us can figure out what happened. Having said all that, I'm thinking MC should just go ahead and retire at this point. I mean she's been struggling live for years now, many of the fans do even appreciate her latest efforts, she has already proven herself in every way possible. She has children to raise, her life is very full and fulfilled at this point. Now I know she enjoys being in the studio and creating music and I personally would love for her to keep releasing "A class" music, but I doubt she enjoys singing live, and I'm certain she's fully aware of her vocals and is probably more hard on herself than we are. I just hate to see her suffer through songs and feel embarrassed or insecure. So I say as fans instead of being disappointed, acting confused, or going in on her voice, we should just appreciate all the great music and vocals she has given us over the years, because she has truly gone far and beyond for us.

Tyler/ Merry Christmas II You (40,028) by RadChad from United States
I kinda agree with you. I'm gonna go on record right now and say I definitely prefer "Oh Santa" over "All I Want For Christmas", to me it's more fun and festive. "Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem" and "The First Noel" are both very beautifully angelic and spiritually touching. They both have an intimate feel to it, almost as if they recorded her singing a lullaby to dem babies one night. "Christmas Time Is In The Air" is a standard classic song while "When Christmas Comes" is a soulful classic. The whole album has so many great moments. I was almost scared when I found out she was going to do a second Christmas album (because first one couldn't be touched), but it came right on time and nearly three Christmases later I couldn't be more thankful she did. Overall I would say they're equally great, but I connect more to MCIIY spiritually. Now we all know how epic the first album is so I won't even go into it, but I'll just say MC forever changed "Oh Holy Night" for me, I have yet to hear a soul on earth top her rendition, it's just beyond. Happy holidays everyone.

Mariah media storm (39,815) by RadChad from United States
I thought she looked uber hot on Jimmy Fallon; the girls were sitting just right in that black dress. Lol. Her behavior as of late is typical Mariah. Now if we were in the Daydream era, then maybe I would think "she's acting different", but Mariah has had this eccentric persona for a minute now. It's really nothing new or shocking IMO. The only thing I can point out is she's starting to care less about what people think and speaks her mind more free and bluntly (Nicki and Idol so deserved that shade she handed to them on a silver platter btw). Back to the music, I literally can't get enough of this new song. Everything from the symphony, to the adlibs, background vocals, the vunerability in her voice, those one of a kind low riffs, and high belting are all giving me everything I need right now. Note: I'm in love with the bridge when she sings with herself in soft voice "baby letting go (baby letting go) ain't easy (ain't easy)", it's been stuck in my head all day.

TAOLG/ The Reason (39,751) by RadChad from United States
Actually "The Art Of Letting Go" reminds me more of Celine Dion's "The Reason" from her "Lets Talk About Love" album. The beginning and the end especially. Anyway, I'm not surprised at all from all the negative responses from some of the fans, that will always be the case whatever she releases. She'll never please everybody, so it is what it is.

The Art Of Letting Go (39,722) by RadChad from United States
It's real, raw, emotional, powerful. This is one of those songs you just listen to and feel and upon each listen you feel it even more. Those skillful runs, the poetic vocal arrangement. I love it. If she keeps releasing music like this the people who don't respect her as an artist now will sing her praises. Great job Mariah. I'm looking forward to what's instored with this album.

Jaker20, letting go (39,688) by RadChad from United States
Mariah's creativity is not nor has ever been the issue whatsoever. Creativity is what always set her apart from Whitney and Celine. Her discography speaks for itself. Also Mariah has never really called herself "The Voice". Her peers (the record label) and fans projected that title on her. IMO she accepted the limitation of her voice (since Butterfly), but it was the fans and her label that wanted the mid to early 90s vocals. As we know when she gave us 90s esque vocals on TEOM the results were astounding. So at this point with everyone in her ear and seeing how singing in the 90s style voice spoke volumes, of course she's gonna go in that studio and give all she got. Otherwise she would whisper a whole album if everyone was okay with that. Oh and btw the whistle register has always been the most effortless part of her voice from my observation. As for the way she dresses, we just have to accept that MC will be that 80 year old woman in some red heels and a bikini. She's gonna be a hot momma as long as she can get away with it.

Re: Cover (39,613) by RadChad from United States
Well I would still call it art because it sorta looks like a painting and (as many have mentioned) the color scheme is gorgeous. Whether it was a drawing, painting, photoshopped or whatever, it's still a nice image. I'm just not mad at it, but I can respect others opposing views, because some of the same thoughts go through my head about certain things.

Cover (39,597) by RadChad from United States
Ok I'll bite. Honestly the cover is a very tastefully done (though it's a bathing suit, yet again). My only gripe would be that it looks photoshopped for life, nevertheless still beautiful artsy and refreshing actually. I remember when MC first started the sex kitten image in '97, I was bothered because I thought it would take attention away from her talent, and people would misjudge her as a slutty bimbo. At this point it hardly matters to me anymore, though there's still those moments I'm like "no MC no". This cover is far from being one of them.

One And Only / So Lonely (39,571) by RadChad from United States
I like both versions, but One And Only is my favorite. The whole song has so much swag, and she kilt the vocals. The whole arrangement of everything was just on point for me. Definitely a go to song from TEOM. So Lonely was a nice little sequel though, the chorus was killer, MC was flowing at the beginning, cool little jam.

WBT BET compared to Grammies (39,550) by RadChad from United States
Well I have to point out that extra theatrics (during that era) didn't necessarily mean she was lipping. Everyone talked about how bad the 05 BET Awards performance of WBT was and she was running around stage and everything (and there's no question that was fully live). I've noticed during that era in general (especially the beginning) Mimi was feeling a little more confidant in her voice and on stage with the GMA, VH1 Save the Music concerts etc. So throwing a full spin in FLAB just didn't really strike me as an "aha" moment. From my observation she started becoming more self conscience and stiff on stage during the E=MC2 era. Now don't get me wrong, I know there were many times she relied on the backing track for that last note of WBT amongst many other performances, but I'm just saying I heard all the raw imperfections in that Grammy performance even the "woo Jesus" sound unidentical IMO. But to each its own who really knows anyway.

Rehashed Grammy 06 performance (39,541) by RadChad from United States
Well, I was one of the people who didn't think she lipped that performance and I stand by my statements as well. I know she lips or partially lip sometimes (I can tell, I was never fooled by it, I just kept it to myself), but I'm not about to adapt the notion that every half way decent performance had to be lipped. Because I just simply don't believe that.

Emotions / Walter A / Letting Go (39,514) by RadChad from United States
I must be in the minority, because Emotions was actually my favorite album for the longest time (during the Daydream era up until after Rainbow). There's not one bad song on that album, truly a masterpiece.
I know I'm late, but it was good hearing the real story (from the horses mouth) of how MC and Walter's working relationship ended. I appreciate how highly he spoke of MC and how shut ol dude down when he was kinda trying it with MC. Had him explaining himself and everything, I bet if Walter had joined in and didn't nicely get him together he would've taken his down talk a little further. Walter shut that down quick, he still has our girl's back. If they haven't secretly already worked together on this album (which I believe they did) then io definitely think they will, it's not too late. I hate wanting a huge period of time to move by quickly, because I believe in enjoying everyday like it's your last. However I always find myself doing this with Mariah's new music. I just hope it really exceeds all our expectations and truly blow us away.

Classic signature songs (39,407) by RadChad from United States
I would agree that MC's evergreens/signature songs would be:
1) Hero - That song was like an epidemic of its time sung at many graduations across the country (including mine). Someone said it best when they mentioned how recognizable the piano melody is before a note is even uttered.
2) We Belong Together - The career reviving and redefining song, she simply struck a chord with the nation with this antheme. Classic example of perfect song and perfect timing.
3) All I Want For Christmas (Is You) - This song will probably outlast every song on the list. Simply because it's rare that we get a modern day Christmas classic and this song has already stood the test of time.
4) Always Be My Baby - I've encoutered many non lambs that love and remember this song and quite often name it as their "favorite Mariah Carey song".
Honorable mentions:
Vision Of Love - Everyone born from 1985 on up would probably say this is THE signature song. (IMO it's her signature.)
Breakdown - Just as Always Be My Baby, many non lambs particularly in the urban community (from my observation) has praise this song, saying they think it's her best.

All the misinformation / new era (39,395) by RadChad from United States
Okay, I'm glad someone pointed out that JD didn't write AIWFCIY, he produced the SoSo Def remix, which does jam, but had nothing to do with the original. That was all Mariah and Walter. Also I read that it was actually Usher that insisted Mariah sing WBT in full voice. Unless I misread the article, but I'm almost certain it was Usher, JD was probably in agreement though. Just thought I'd clear those things up. I'm not sure about JD managing Mariah, musically they are phenomenal together and I think he's in touch with the fans and knows what we want from her, but promotion wise like someone mentioned he never managed an artist on Mariah's level, so we'll see. If he could dedicate all his time and attention to this new era, then I would like to think that he could do her justice. We'll see.

Rap collabos: foe life (39,362) by RadChad from United States
Okay so how about this? When you see MC in the studio with a rapper, think "Breakdown" and not "Triumphant" , maybe that'll help, huh? But seriously, complaining about the album without even hearing a smig of it is tired, or tired would be her trying to follow a trend and not doing her. At least wait before you criticize. And this is my last message about this topic until the album arrives. Done.

New album part deux (39,351) by RadChad from United States
My thing is that some of us (believe it or not) appreciate her hip hop flavored songs, if you don't care for them then that's fine. I'm sure there will be something for everyone on the new album so no need to complain and bring the rest of us down. You will get your pop (or whatever you prefer) ballad or four, just because she does a couple rap collaborations doesn't mean the album will be a hip hop fest (TEOM somebody?), there will be a balance. It's okay, take a deep breath. Forgive me, but the complaining just gets tiring for some of us. Carry on.

MC album (39,343) by RadChad from United States
Some are dismayed at MC having rap collaborations on the album and my question is why? Memoirs didn't have a single collabo on the original version and if memory serves me correctly it's her worst selling album to date. So I say to MC, follow your heart musically and do you. I'd much rather my favorite artist stay true to themselves versus doing what other people think they should do. Besides, the names attach to this album aren't just any kind of ol rappers, these guys are poets and lyrical geniuses, I look forward to and welcome it with open arms. But hey that's just me. I just want something real and from the heart, I want to feel something when I listen to this album and one think I know is that MC is definitely digging deep for this one. The Art Of Letting Go says it all to me.

Jaime / Dru Hill (39,267) by RadChad from United States
I agree, I really enjoyed Sisqo and Jazz's contributions to the collabo. When Jazz comes in with the "ohoh don't make me waste my tiime", it was killer. I wish I could've heard more of him on the song as well, but Sisqo and Mariah went in during the climax. I loved their back and forth, it was a very classic, appropriate interpretation, with the right amount of respect for the throwback 80s nostalgic vocal arrangements.
