Re: Andrew and the Master Saga (61,143) (61,158) by Andrew from UK
As much as people such as the webmaster ("Eric? who's Eric?" - I remember that one) agreeing with me is novel and not disrespected, let's not vilify Juan. I have a thick skin, I'm aware that some other people do not. He made a mistake and was made to rethink and I'm not sure what good will come to emotionally compromise him any further. I'm obviously not flipping and criticising the criticisms but I would say let's just leave it there. What will be interesting to note is if there are any visitors to this board who have meet-and-greet tickets to upcoming SSFT performances so that they can relate their stories and see if Stella was made aware and reacted to what is obviously a PR issue and clearly within her remit. Nobody's pain is more or less deserving and all fans are worthy of respect from their idol although Orwell's "all animals are equal but some are more equal than others" comes to mind. The thing I do find shocking (not that he wants me to kiss his ass, nor do I want to) is that Eric/the webmaster has only met her once and was told not to touch her etc. Doesn't she know he does this website? That's crazy. I genuinely thought at some point over the course of history Mariah's people would have reached out and he would have met Mariah a lot and would receive at least some sort of special treatment. I genuinely thought that would have been a natural thing. I think Stella needs to do a PR review. If that documentary does not reflect reality she may regret it.

Tiina I absolutely agree with Giovanni on this and thought the exact same thing when I saw your apology, that it showed what kind of person you are when you can still feel empathy in the situation. Hopefully the positive memories are what you'll remember from the experience as time goes by.

Sex and the City moment (61,154) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
As I sat in my Sydney apartment, I couldn't help but wonder. Were the tabloids and rumours right? Was Mariah Carey actually a self centred diva with no concern for anybody else?

Article: Mariah Carey skips "American Idol" finale (61,153) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh what wouldn't I do to watch Mariah's expression when JLo performed her brand new pathetic excuse of a song "Ain't your mama" on Idol.

Rockefeller Retrospective (61,152) by Jono from USA
Even though this was a brutal time in Mariah's personal and professional life, and if I may say so without sounding cruel, I believe it was necessary. No she didn't deserve all the backlash and hate she got from the performance, but clearly it had lasting effects on Mariah. It was a huge wakeup call that she couldn't just rest on her laurels from the 90s. I think she realized that the very thing that made her who she is, was suddenly at risk of destroying everything she worked for. Fast forward two years later and on this tour, Mariah is sounding remarkable in every sense of the word. I'm not even adding an asterisk that "she sounds good for 2016". No, she just sounds good, period. There were a lot of mitigating circumstances surrounding that infamous performance in 2014, but it was clear that at the time Mariah's voice was not in good shape even if she had done rehearsals/warmups. Whatever she's been doing to return her voice to her glory days, she needs to keep up. She still has many many years left and at the rate her vocal form is returning, I'm excited for future projects.

Infinity (61,151) by Giovanni from USA
Even if "Infinity" had it to number one I still would hate it. The music and lyrics are cheesy, and Mariah's voice sounds the worst. If you compare "Infinity" to anyone of Mariah's number ones you'll see just how bad of a song it is. Was this the best she could come up with? I would have rather heard any of the leftover tracks from "Me. I am Mariah".

Meet and greet scam (61,150) by Giovanni from USA
I think it's pretty rotten how this so called "meet and greet" is set up. People like Tiina paid hundreds of dollars to meet her idol and all she got was a hello and one lousy photo. And why does she charge for it? I love Mariah but I'm not afraid to call her out when she's in the wrong. Why must you charge fans for a meet and greet?

Tinna from Finland (61,149) by Giovanni from USA
The fact that you apologized to Juan shows what kind of person you are. You are a sweetheart, who in no way needed to apologize. There was nothing you posted that was offensive or disrespectful. You felt cheated and it's completely understandable. I for one wasn't here for that long and boring post Juan posted. It was a hot mess. I'm so sorry your meet and greet did not go as you planned.

Re: Meet and greet (61,144) (61,148) by Billy from Greece
I don't think it's Mariah per se that charges. I think it has to do more with the promoters and the variety of packages they offer to make more money, so I don't think Mariah can say let's make a free meet and greet. Surely, Mariah can give her consent or not. But I think these types of tickets are a relatively recent trend, and is probably connected to touring companies. But it is weird when all you want is just a little time with your idol because you get just a glimpse of the backstage madness in this industry. And the fact that it involves such huge amounts of money kinda ruins the "innocent" drive that brought you there in the first place, which is (I guess for a lot of people) pure love of music and of an artist, and you may feel like that magic is lost since it is all about the logistics. That being said, I think the best opportunities to meet an artist of her caliber is through contests and through luck to be honest. When you get too close, the myth you have been building for years may fall apart.

Meet and greet (61,144) by Billy from England, UK
I think the meet and greet should be free. I mean if I was rich and famous I wouldn't be charging people a lot of money. You know she is a millionaire, they do say the more they get the more they want, us fans been buying her songs for years and years. She should think about that and remember what it was like not to have much.

Andrew and the Master Saga (61,143) by Edward from USA
Andrew and Eric, I completely agree with both yours posts. Had Juan Manuel from Spain told his story and what it meant to him meeting Mariah, I would've had a little bit more respect for him, even though I thought it was very unnecessary to go into such details to justify Mariah, make Tiina look like a heartless ass, and make him look like he deserved more from the meet and greet because of what he had gone through. Reading Juan story strangely didn't make me feel anything, and I must admit I usually relate to sad stories like his, they usually make me sympathetic, and I'm also very compassionate. I didn't feel anything because for him to have gone through all that, he didn't show any compassion toward Tiina. He was like: Tiina, get over it. I don't know you personally and I don't care about your feelings, but I have a sad story to tell and I'm more important and much more of a fan that you'll ever be. Tina got a new dress, and got dolled up for that moment, but it wasn't free, she paid what would be considered an arm and a leg to meet her idol, she shouldn't be treated as vain or heartless for that. I would be ashamed if I had to look for sympathy by showing a missing leg or missing teeth to draw attention or to myself, at least that's what I get from his post. Tina, I do also think you deserved much more than an effing rushed picture. As simple as that, and don't let anybody make you feel ashamed. You paid for a meet and greet, and you got cheated. I hope someone from Mariah's team is reading this board and make arrangement to give Tiina what she rightfully deserved, at least a decent picture.

South America (61,141) by Carlos from Brazil
So apparently Mariah is going to South America with the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. I can't believe. I'm already crying without the confirmation so I'll try to be cool. Mimi we're waiting you in Brasil. She is probably going to say her portuguese catchphrase "Olá, como vai" witch means: Hi, how are you. She said that in the Watch What Happens Live.

Thank you for understanding (61,140) by Tiina from Finland
Thank you Martyn and the webmaster for understanding my point. And I'm sorry to have brought more negativity on this board. [Webmaster: Please don't feel sorry. It's a good thing you told us about the meet and greet, so other fans won't get disappointed.]

Andrew (61,139) by Tiina from Finland
Thank you for understanding my point. I actually got teary because of Juan's post. I was wrong for assuming that they filmed him in another set up for the documentary and I apologize for that. But the things Juan said to me really hurt my feelings. I was there because of my love for Mariah. We had all been praying and preparing for that moment. And I'm sorry for going on and on about money but I'm pretty sure most of us do not have 700 euros lying around for nothing. Definitely not me. Shouldn't it go without saying that since we all paid for it, we should all get equal treatment? Of course. But I thought it was just pure luck on Juan's part that he got to spend more time with Mariah, not because he was manipulative or anything like that. I thought we were standing in line in a completely random order. And I had no idea about the awful things Juan's been through in his life. When he came out, all I could understand of him in passing was that he had spent time with Mariah and that it was amazing, which I'm sure it was. I congratulated him and told him I was excited for him as he passed me. That's all we communicated to each other that night. He wasn't even directly speaking to me as there were other fans on the scene. Anyway, this whole thing has once again turned into a big mess on this board and I feel bad about it. I should have just kept it to myself, I guess.

Juan / Tiina (61,138) by Martyn from England, UK
As is usually the case, I'm with Andrew on this one. Juan, I'm sorry to hear you've not had the greatest life, but your post was completely cringeworthy and unnecessary. Tiina, you are well within your rights to feel the way you do, and please don't let people on this board make you feel any worse.

Re: Meet and greets confusions be clear people (61,123) (61,137) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Maybe I will get crucified for this post, but I have to write it anyway. Juan Manuel Benabu from España, I feel sorry that you're sick and got violated twice. But why did you tell this to Mariah and everyone on this messageboard (and in such details)? So that Mariah and us might like you better? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you almost sound proud of being sick, so you get a lot more privileges than the other fans do. And attacking other fans because they feel cheated is just wrong. Because you're sick doesn't mean that Tiina should feel ashamed because she was robbed of so much money. I always have the feeling that the less fortunate among us have more compassion with others, but with you I get the feeling you feel superior to the rest of us. I really hope I'm wrong.

Re: The PR problem (61,135) (61,136) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
I do agree with Andrew (yes, miracles do happen) and Tiina. If you pay a lot of money (and I think 700 euro is really a lot of money) for a ticket, or if you are a fan from the beginning and spend tens of thousands euro on CD's and singles (like I did), Mariah hardly has any time for you. But if you have a sad story, Mariah takes her time (and you don't even have to be a real fan). Maybe listening to a sad story is good for television, but the die-hard fans will be left with a bad taste in their mouth. But this goes for almost every celebrity. Being sick or having a sad story will give you more chance to meet your idol than loving your idol to death and spending a lot of money on them. Fortunately, I've met Mariah in person once, although I had to wait because she was six hours late. The security guy then told us we couldn't touch her. When it was my turn, I just touched her anyway and she didn't mind.

The PR problem (61,135) by Andrew from UK
Tiina's point was perfectly valid and she did nothing wrong. She paid a lot of money and felt ripped off, but, for obvious reasons, caved in to the guilt trip from that poster. I trust I'll get my ass kicked for this by the usual but I don't much care: lots of people have a sob-story or tragic period in their history. Just because some people shove it down other people's throats doesn't buy them a free pass. In fact, after that guy's story, I kinda now understand and respect why Mariah keeps her distance from the general populous. I was cringeing just reading it. I guess hundreds of people demanding your attention through sympathy (lest you look heartless) would be inescapable and pretty draining (especially if you're already knackered). And probably, in certain cases, certain people can come across a little wacko. I think Nathalia was sort of right in that Mariah is too big, now, to be concerned with individuals. I think maybe it would be much better PR-wise for Mariah's meet-and-greets to be competition based to remove the feeling of individuals being cheated when they're so short, and for her social media to be controlled by her and not by members of her team to remove the feeling of everyone else being cheated.
