About Ethan from United States:

New York Times review (53,047) by Ethan from United States
This is a bit harsh. I'd think the hometown girl would get some love but I guess you couldn't satisfy anyone.

LTT / IDWC and butterfly dress (53,011) by Ethan from United States
I hope she will sing those two songs whole instead of cutting out the second verse. They are the ultimate ballads and early #1s. I don't care if she just sings a snippet of TGIFY, which she did for her first show. For those that went to the show, did it show a video montage of her life/#1 hits before the curtain raised? I'd love to see similar to that. I went to see Celine a few years ago and it had a short video of her career and how she traveled the world and I hope Mariah and her team includes something similar that it, just to show the Vegas residents/non old-school fans that she's been around for 25 years plus and the collection of awards she's got. That's all. Out of the outfits, I must say I don't like the last pink one. It looks tacky and unflattering with the shoulder pads. There's one dress (butterfly dress) out there from Givenchy's Fall 2015 collection and when I saw it, I immediately thought of Mariah because there's whole butterfly embroidered in the front of the dress. It's sparkling and I hope she will mix things up in the later shows. It's a hit or miss with her stylists. It seems like she has multiple stylists or something. Here's the link to the dress I'm talking about.

Vegas residency and Billboard Music Awards (52,911) by Ethan from United States
I hope the residency is a bit different than the dress rehearsal/preview show with invited or surprise guests or something. It looks great already but I'm not sure why she wore two of the dresses again. She wore the silver and pink dresses at her Beacon shows. For the Honey performance, I'd rather see her in the two-piece than the wet suit. I think she'd look cuter in the two-piece (honey or white). The Billboard Music Awards starts at 5 pm PT to air live at 8 PM ET in the East Coast. Thus, if her performance time is between 5-6 pm PT, then she has enough time, 2 hours to go back to Caesars Palace to start her residency. I hope it's a live and in-person performance rather than a telecast or taped performance. It's more exciting that way. In addition, I'm glad to see a lot of positivity on Instagram posts and there are a lot of born-again fans after seeing her dress rehearsal/preview show. Some said that I Don't Even Cry (I think it's probably the picture with her in the middle and a musician with a guitar), Love Takes Time, and My All were their favorites. I'm very happy that she sings those old songs again and I can't wait to see them. I miss her those songs live. And the snippet of the acoustic Thank God I Found You was to die for.

Infinity's iTunes status (52,837) by Ethan from United States
As of now, it's at #109 on the iTunes chart. The lyric video is still gaining hits and momentum. I don't know how radio additions will impact its success. So far, I haven't heard it on the radio yet but today is May 4 so it's out today. I hope Mariah and her team get the music video out before or by May 18 when the album releases.

Hypocrisy of "Lambs" (52,690) by Ethan from United States
"I came to have a party, open up the Bacardi, feeling so hot tamale. Them chickens is ash and I'm lotion." "Just like the Calgon commercial." "Then I'd best not catch this flick, on YouTube (YouTube), 'cause if you run your mouth and brag about this secret rendezvous, I will hunt you down, 'cause they be all up in my business like a Wendy interview." "Speed dial connecting me to Rae-Rae (hey), click in Shawntae and Mae-Mae (hey). Fellas be grabbin' at us like yo, tryin' to get us going off the Patron, we sippin' Grigio... slow." "I'm like the lottery, hot Bentley with the keys. Take me for a ride." "But you in LA, and I'm out at Jermaine's. I'm up in the A, you're so so lame, It must be the weed, it must be the E, heard you get it poppin', you get it poppin'. Got you all fired up, with your Napoleon complex. Seein' right through you like you're bathin' in Windex." So what's the deal with Infinity?

Infinity's chart status (52,599) by Ethan from United States
As of now, it's #46 on the US iTunes chart. Hopefully, with radio additions and promotional performances, it will stay steady on charts and climb up. There's a difference between adding to radio and being receptive as well. Radio might end up not playing it if there's no request. It would make sense that Mariah will release the MV before or on the updated #1 to Infinity cd. There's no point to have the cd single and then the cd comes out and no music video. I hope to see the video before or on May 18. Maybe she'll premiere it as her backdrop during the Billboard Music Awards (if rumor is true). But I'd have to say that this single has much more momentum than TAOLG and YME. It has an edge over #Beautiful so I think it will do well, especially it sounds much better in the car. Haha. Quite a perfect move and timing as a summer anthem but I must say we have to be aware of Britney/Iggy's single coming out soon. Anyway, Infinity to #1.

Vegas residency setlist (52,579) by Ethan from United States
Does it mean that she will only sing 19 songs? It sounds like it from the interviews, chronologically order and ends with Infinity. I hope she will incorporate some acoustic versions and Can't Let Go in first segment with the first 4 #1s. She loves that song and it's one of her old hits besides Vision Of Love and Emotions that she sang live recently. We haven't heard I Don't Wanna Cry and Someday since early 90s. I just hope the show is a bit longer with a few more songs. But looking at the title of show, it sounds like #1s to Infinity. The end.

Infinity press reviews (52,458) by Ethan from United States
The single has been getting a lot of rave reviews of 90s throwback from Vanity Fair, MTV, EW, USA Today, etc. It's been steady on the iTunes chart but declining a bit. Hopefully, the AC/Pop radio additions, music video, and other streaming devices will help it remained in the top 30, 20, or 10. Mariah and her team should release the video soon to keep the momentum.

Infinity to 1 (52,425) by Ethan from United States
Despite the mixed reviews, this song is moving up on charts without any major promotions besides on all social media outlets. That's quite a feature for the PR/Media group. Let's not compare. There's a catchy chorus. It doesn't feel/seem 90s to me but it reminds me of the TEOM era and it's in between Shake It Off/Make It Look Good. The addition to AC/POP radios, music video, and promotional performances will only make the song climb up the charts more. I'm excited for her and her team. In my opinion, it's not the best but it's grown on me. I said the same thing about Honey and Heartbreaker. I think Mariah is one of those artists that have an array of fans because of her music artistry/longevity. Every first single sounds different from one album to another. I can see why fans said this and that but we need to look at Mariah's career. There are songs with simple lyrics like Dreamlover (or the entire Music Box album) but very melodic tunes, there are songs with hard beats and catchy/interesting phrases like "them chickens are ash and I'm lotion" lol, and there are GRE/SAT lyrical words like Close My Eyes, Outside, and others. There's something for everyone. It's up to us to leave it or take it and not bashing.

Bloomberg article and Vegas residency (52,187) by Ethan from United States
I have to disagree with the article on a few things. First, the last few cds are flopped but in Mariah's terms. Compared to other cds that came out during those eras, it was relatively the same. No one dragged this topic out when it was about Celine, Christina, JLo, and Madonna. Second, TMB was her last #1 but between 2008 and now, Mariah has had a couple Top 10 and Top 20 songs. Third, Mariah's concerts were relatively shorter than most artists, less tour dates in the US and the world. Let's not compare her to Christina whose last tour was 2008 for Back To Basics and ever since her career was nothing rather than appearing on The Voice. All flopped cds and cancelled tour back in 2010. However, I do agree on the author's point about Mariah's series of tours. She's not known for it. In my opinion, her most extensive and invested tour is the Charmbracelet like I had mentioned in this forum. There was a concept for it from the beginning to the end and everything was on point: staging, props, costumes, and dancers. At first, I was totally against her Vegas residency because it was like a last resort for artists I think. But now I think it's the best idea ever. The Vegas residency is her most invested show because it's not just a live concert. It has a concept and high-budget with an amazing stage, dancers and costumes, and it's all about theatrical performances. I'm glad she's doing it with all #1s-a first ever and at the same time for her to get her old fans and new ones as well.

Breakdown at the Vegas residency (52,159) by Ethan from United States
Would it be amazing if Mariah performs Breakdown as part of her show? It's completely appropriate that she includes it in her setlist because of the showgirls, casinos and hotels, and glitz of showbiz. I really hope that she does it. I don't really care if she lip-synches the song as long as she performs it with the chairs, dancers, and costumes. I can't wait to find out and I think Mariah is one of those artists that will change up the setlist even though it's a residency. Let's hope so.

Infinity music video (52,102) by Ethan from United States
Am I the only one who thought this video was filmed a while back? I don't think it was filmed over the weekend. I have a feeling it was shot at the beginning of this year during Mariah's visit on Ellen. MC is very elusive and secretive during this era, which I love instead of posing numerous pictures of recording sessions during the MIAM era. I can't wait until April 27 and May 24 for the #1 to Infinity residency.

Fanmade's CD back cover (51,988) by Ethan from United States
Hi All. I think the image is fanmade. It's not on Mariah's site or any other Epic Records' affiliated music sites so we can just wait and find out. #1 to Infinity is going to be one-disc with 19 songs because of the price. The only possibility that I can think is legit is the Infinity single cd that one member mentioned, including the bonus track. We'll wait and find out as well.

Infinity's surprise release (51,898) by Ethan from United States
I wish Mariah drops this single and music video next Monday, April 20 because of it will give some time to debut on the charts or with the fans' help it might debut on #1? I'm just concerned about the competition of summer songs that will be releasing soon. At the end of the day, there are a lot of expectations but it's all about the music. How many #1 songs out there that sound like crap? And how many non #1 songs out there that score a lot of awards and classics. It'd be great for Mariah to get another #1 and we all hope it will be great.

Pictures / MIAM / Infinity (51,750) by Ethan from United States
I don't understand what the deal is. All album pictures are retouched. Let's be fair and honest, both MIAM and #1 To Infinity pictures were taken when Mariah was slimmer. Her weight fluctuates and she's said that before. MIAM picture was taken during the #Beautiful/American Idol time period and she was much skinnier than when she performed in Jamaica. She probably took the #1 To Infinity picture during her time period when she made an appearance on Ellen. People need to stop making comparisons. Get your facts straight before you make stuff up or at least say those are your assumptions. And about MIAM, let's get things straight. People said there weren't any promotions but in fact there were: Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, radio, World Music Awards, and etc. The main reason it didn't do well was the on-going delays and time span from #Beautiful to the album release was one year apart. In my opinion, there were the lackluster singles as well. I'm not sure why Mariah and her team decided to use The Art Of Letting Go and You're Mine (Eternal) (Rodney Jerkins). I'm glad that Mariah decided to not work with him again. Not to say that he isn't a talented producer but sometimes some people don't make the mainstream/radio friendly songs or #1 hits. There are much stronger singles on MIAM. They could have released YDKWTD and then Faded. Let's just hope this Infinity single is the bomb.

Keep calm and Carey on (51,734) by Ethan from United States
19 songs to be fitted in one-disc cd so that's why the price is very affordable. Some fans on this forum did mention that they only want 1-2 more new songs on this compilation cd as long as it guarantees a hit. So your wish is granted by Mariah. Personally, I was hoping for 4-5 new songs, including Don't Explain by Billie Holiday because Mariah is the queen of cover/tribute but I guess I have to wait for her second Epic cd. I assume Mariah and Epic production teams feel very strongly about Infinity and it might become her 19th #1 single. All we have to do is support her and make that happen. Yes I do agree that Mariah will get more new fans based on this cd alone because it contains all the #1s and filters out all her #2s, #3s, and top 5 and 10 songs. Haha. This cd seems saturated because of all the #1s and greatest hits cds that were released by the record company. On her own terms, Mariah only released the first #1s cd and perhaps the Remixes cd but Sony/Columbia released the Greatest Hits cd while she was with Virgin Records. Then they released the Ballads, Love Songs, and so on (I think). Therefore, it is all redundant. All I hope is that Infinity (song and music video) is at the same quality/high budget or much better as WBT/TMB and not like HATEU or I Want To Know What Love Is. There's nothing we can do now instead of wait and buy, listen, or stream the new single when it hits April 27.

See You Again, #1s CD, Infinity (51,554) by Ethan from United States
I agree that See You Again or perhaps Earned It might take the #1 spot from Uptown Funk. It's time for that single to drop from the chart. See You Again has the sentimental feeling from Fast And Furious 7 so it's totally working right now with the movie's still in the theater. Earned It (top 5 Billboard Hot 100) has been consistently selling well and #1 on the iTunes chart. On to the #1s CD, it was stated in the first release that it will include 4-5 new songs, but I don't mind that Mariah will include a few more, even those that didn't make the MIAM final cut. It's very appropriate for Mariah to include Don't Explain by Billie Holiday as a cover/tribute because it's her centennial a few days ago (this year). In addition, I hope that Infinity doesn't turn out to be like Triumphant based on the song title alone. Lol. I'm not going to overhype anything and just wait and see. I'm very excited and yet nervous at the same time. I don't care about #1s but all I hope is to do well and great in this new era.

Mariah's IG pictures and Uptown Funk (51,505) by Ethan from United States
It looks great and promising with Mariah's IG picture with LA Reid in front of the Sony sign. And perhaps she's with a new PR group (see her tag). In addition, it looks like Uptown Funk might break One Sweet Day's record since it has the support from the First Lady in her 5th anniversary Let's Move Campaign. All other singles right now probably won't take it down. Rihanna's recent singles kind of flopped and perhaps Madonna's or a new Taylor Swift's single can take it down. Uptown Funk is a great single/song but I didn't expect to be that great and be on chart for that long. I hope it reaches 15th week and got taken down.

Instagram / promotions (51,491) by Ethan from United States
The promotions will kick in soon, probably in mid-April. The band has been rehearsing since the beginning of April without Mariah. There are some pictures of band members rehearsing in Vegas already (check @six7music and use #1sMariah or #MariahCarey). I've seen one picture of dancers auditioning for Mariah Carey residency. I understand that people are concerned about this since it can make or break her future career. It's a residency and not a live concert so everything will be meticulously planned. It's a business and remember Caesars Palace wants to profit this as well. Of course, Mariah doesn't want anymore bad press, especially she will have an album and movie/soundtrack coming out. Yes there will be some lipsynching but that apeopleies to almost every production I believe. Behind the scenes, I think people have been building props and working with lighting and everything will be rehearsing at the last two weeks of April I assume. They just need to hire top-level people to make everything work.

Easter's Instagram pictures (51,414) by Ethan from United States
Yes she deleted the collage with Monroe in it but she just posted the picture of the whole family. I love it how Mariah's been keeping her silence throughout the whole situation and she posted this picture to shut the media down. Her situation with Nick might be hostile and volatile but I think they keep that separately from their children for their wellness and it's the best way to deal with it. Great job to Mariah and Nick.

Christmas movie and Idina Menzel (51,244) by Ethan from United States
I have a guts feeling that the reference that Mariah tagged Idina is perhaps that she might be involved in the new Christmas movie, which will be directed by Ratner inspired from Mariah's music. Mariah loves Christmas and with the momentum of Frozen, this movie might do very well. In addition, this is the first time Mariah has written a Christmas song for other female singers. She wrote "Where are you Christmas?" for Faith Hill. So I hope that Idina Menzel is involved in this Christmas movie and I actually don't think Mariah has a leading role but more like an unexpected supporting role. I think she shines in supporting roles and leaves the leading role to another actress. If this comes true, I think it'd be great.

Image and personality changes (51,232) by Ethan from United States
Yes. I agree with you all about how she and her team are trying to make her more likable again and reminding us how great she is throughout these years. If you have noticed, she's been posting a lot of of throwback pictures lately on Instagram of Anytime You Need A Friend, Forever, and Butterfly and those pictures got so much more likes on Instagram and Facebook compared to other pictures. It's also a marketing strategy to get her fans to go to Vegas for her older hits. Some of you have already said that on here. Even though it's calculated but it comes off as genuine and cute. As long as the new music is good, people will buy the updated #1s cd. I wonder if she's going to drop it as a surprise album. Either way works as long as there's substance because artists still schedule their cds and they sell well. In one more month, there will be a lot of things going on: new single and music video, radio and tv promotions, and perhaps a new cd. Can we have another ballad of the continuation of WBT with Wentworth Miller and Ratner direct it? A heartbreak song because he dies in the video? On another note, Celine Dion announced that she will return in August, I wonder whether or not it will affect Mariah's ticket sales but I think that they do have a very different pool of fans and a small portion of them like both including me. That means May and July 2015 dates are the only ones that Mariah is performing in Vegas this year so I think fans should go and see her or wait until 2016.

Mariah versus the music industry (51,123) by Ethan from United States
In my opinion, Mariah is a musical genius. Her musical artistry seems to be a head of everyone else. She's probably the first mainstream pop artist to collaborate with rap/urban artists (ODB in 1995, Missy Elliot in 1997, Nicki Minaj in 2009). In her last album, she collaborated with Nas again and after that you saw a group of other female artists (JLo and Madonna) started to work with him again. In some ways, I feel like Mariah has been 'blackballed' (the term that Lee Daniels used it for Monique) by the music industry. Her relationships with Sony/Columbia, Virgin Records, and IDJ were not that great so she didn't get much respect from them and I think it could have affected her during awards season. During TEOM, Mariah was quickly called them out of those that counted her out during Glitter/Charmbracelet so I wouldn't be surprised if some people out there don't like her. I hope that now she's back with Sony/Epic, she will get more support and all of Tommy's people have left Sony/Columbia already. To another topic, I recently saw Jussie (Jamal on Empire) hung out with Da Brat and I noticed that Mariah didn't even follow her on her Instagram considered that she's her best friend. It's interesting to see that they don't even post pictures of each other. I wonder what's happened to their relationship. I can see that sometimes Mariah comes off at diva-ish and over-the-top but I hope that she's all about the music these days and put things behind.

New #1s CD / Vegas (51,075) by Ethan from United States
I'm looking forward to the new music. I have an idea and I'm not sure it's in the works yet. Several articles mentioned that there will be 4 new tracks (possible duets of classics and new songs). Since Fifth Harmony is also on the label, I'm wondering if there's been a discussion of featuring them on one or two remakes of Mariah's classics like Always Be My Baby and Anytime You Need A Friend (Fifth Harmony sang this on the X-Factor). They both seem like amicable to each other and I think this is a good idea for Mariah to get a new wave of younger listeners/audience. For Vegas, I've mentioned this before about having a hologram of Whitney to duet with her for When You Believe. Someone recently brought up again on this forum and I think it's a great idea but it might be too much or too soon. If it can happen, I don't mind using the same idea for Endless Love with Luther.

Sony Epic Records (50,981) by Ethan from United States
It all makes sense that Mariah signed with Epic Records since 15 of her #1s are under Sony. It makes it easier to update the #1s CD and re-release it. I don't know how soon it will be released but I hope that she will sing a few new songs during her Vegas residency. It just reminds us how she did it for Dreamlover, Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend, and Without You during her Thanksgiving Special 20 plus years ago. This is the year of divas as many are releasing CDs and so far a few of them has been receiving a lot of critical reviews. Thus, I hope Mariah will do the same.
