About Stacey from USA: Been a fan since 1993. Favorite albums include Daydream, TEOM, and Music Box. I love a good discussion, but won't stand for hateful comments because we disagree. I am too old to deal with drama and so are you. Keep it real with me and we'll have some fun. Peace.

Thoughts, All I've Ever Wanted (51,111) by Stacey from USA
I know no one here likes to go through trials or see a public persona like MC go through them. However, over the course of 25 years, we have gotten some of her best work after a hard time (i.e. Butterfly, TEOM, etc). When MC gets her "house" in order, there is nothing to stop this talented lady from getting people to recognize her once again. BTW, I love All I've Ever Wanted too.

Stuff (51,063) by Stacey from USA
In the top 10 of posters here? Hmmm, I didn't think I've been posting that much lately. Maybe I did early on. Anyway, best of wishes to you Shelly. Come back anytime. Illuminati? Really? That's the best topic we can come up with here? I'll leave it at that. I'm excited to see what MC has planned with the Vegas shows and coinciding album. I read a news article that said a new Christmas album is false. Of course on any album release, you have to include AIWFCIY.

RJ112, are you listening, Mariah? (50,843) by Stacey from USA
Thank you for posting some amazing videos. I loved the VOL performance. I think if she gives each Vegas concert that kind of effort and soul, her residency will be a smashing success. I especially loved Trey Lorenz at the end saying "take your time baby" and MC laughed back. Moments like that are genuine and show people MC is a real person. I hope with these Vegas concerts, MC learns to embrace her early works. I know Sony tried to mold her into something she wasn't, but still, those songs are loved by many and what got her started. I understand she still sings Hero, Dreamlover, VOL. However, I miss songs like LLT (the video RJ112 posted). I hope she does a mashup of some #1s with maybe a non-single track thrown in to add to the magic (aka Alone In Love or Till the End of Time, etc). Are you listening, Mariah? With MC going back to Sony/Epic, this is a chance for her to cement her place in music history, to make people stand up and listen. She is a true talent and deserves people to remember that once again. I hope someday we get all those recorded tracks that never made the album, videos we never got to see. Fans like myself that have been following MC for two decades deserve such a gift.

Daydream, Mariah's next step (50,817) by Stacey from USA
This album is pure genius. Daydream will always be my favorite album. It's hard to believe its been 20 years since that album was released, and yet, the sound of the album could dominate in today's market. Mariah needs to believe in herself again. It seems like she's lost a bit of confidence to me. Daydream in particular is evidence of MC taking a chance and it paying off: i.e. Fantasy Remix with ODB. No one else had infused pop and hip-hop the way MC did, but they sure knew what winning formula to follow afterwards. It's that same kind of thinking that needs to happen again. She may fall flat on her face with a new idea. And she may have the "next big thing" in music like she did with Fantasy.

Marissa, "fans" (50,497), Celine (50,529) by Stacey from USA
Wow, your post was awesome. Folks, read that one again and then ask yourself, "Do you want the best for Mariah?" Sometimes even one of the successful artists of all-time needs a little tough love.

Celine and Mariah (50,527) by Stacey from USA
This is what happens when you take care of your voice. I purposely posted a video of Celine Dion singing one of her more difficult songs All By Myself from 2014. I've been asking myself this question for a long time: why does Celine's voice sound strong while Mariah has seemed to struggle. I'm not throwing shade, really. Thoughts? I don't know if I buy the whole "voice changes after so much use" argument anymore. Sure, Celine's voice has changed. Sure, she lips songs to preserve her voice day to day. However, that doesn't explain why Celine can hit that climax note from ABM 18 years after she first released the song and MC has to lip Fantasy. On a lighter note, no offence, but after watching this video if you still believe Ms. Ross slays Celine, you're crazy, lol.

My All, Will (50,444) (50,471) by Stacey from USA
Not everyone here is bashing Mariah. I mean, if you don't post, you can't bash, right? Haha, that was a joke. Laugh. My All has such a haunting melody to it. It's definitely one of my favorite ballads. Along those lines, I Only Wanted is such a great song too, sort of a part 2 to My All. Will, brilliant post. I've always wondered why MC's voice has struggled and Celine's voice has remained strong. It's time MC hired the best vocal coach money can buy. She's got great pipes to protect.

Andrew's post (50,086) (50,113) by Stacey from USA
I hate to say it, but he has got a point, a lot of good points quite frankly. At some point, we as fans run out of excuses. At what point do we say the problem lies with Mariah? Yes, she is going through a lot of personal issues. If those personal issues are hurting your professional endeavors, it stands to reason she would take time off. Rosie O'Donnell (not a huge fan of hers, BTW), left The View to focus on her personal issues (impending divorce, etc). Maybe M needs to do the same. I hope doing the Vegas shows, looking back at her 18 #1s, all success that entails will boost her self esteem.

That is my life's theme song. Honestly, it's one of Mariah's best songs.

Jamaica (50,013) by Stacey from USA

Personal issues can take their toll on the rest of your life, including your voice. All MC has to do is look at where her hard work has gotten her the past 25 years and own it. Seriously own it, girl. Will's posting of VOL proves with proper care, MC can have that voice shine once again. The ad-libs were too much for me. But, her voice is not gone. I post the video from the 2006 Grammys. Watch the notes she hit at 1:42-3. That's the attitude I am talking about. MC needs to command the stage once again. As far as walking off WBT? Yikes. I'm sorry, but a lot of her fans could fake singing Fantasy better than MC. That's not a good sign. MC came back from faltering in 2001. She can do it again. She has has to believe she can do it again.

State of Mariah's voice (50,012) by Stacey from USA
Celine Dion has been in the spotlight for over 20 years to and her voice is strong. She lips and uses backing tracks during her concerts too However, you don't see her having vocal struggles on a consistent basis. Shoot, she still uses a vocal coach to help keep her voice in top shape. If Mariah doesn't have a vocal coach, maybe she should hire someone. Is Mariah an alcoholic? I don't think so. Could she lay off the splashes a bit to take better care of her voice? Yep. The quality of her voice was undeniably better when pregnant with her twins. Take care of your voice, MC.

YDKWTD, Meteorite, Sony and the future (49,504) by Stacey from USA
I spoke of these two songs awhile ago. I'm just glad to see more fans giving these songs some love. They are pure gold. The thing I love about them both is that have that disco retro feel, yet forward facing combination. MC has been doing that her entire career. She has such a knack for bringing up past grooves while avoiding sounding dated. It's one of the reasons we are celebrating 25 years in the business. She knows what sounds will bring her success. I'm so glad to see her back with Sony and LA Reid. I'm hoping with the Vegas residency, the coinciding #1s album, and new record company, we are going to see MC embrace her 25 legend status. She's earned it. I'd love to see her do a duets type album of classic standards ala Tony Bennett. I don't know if I would want a duet album with MC songs. MC is so dang good on those songs, I wonder if having someone else sing them might taint the song. Or it could be awesome ala Westlife was for AAO or Brian McKnight for WYC. Both duets are better than the original, IMO. The future is exciting. That's for sure.

Warrior Butterfly (49,486) by Stacey from USA
I agree with you about the sampling the beginning arrangements vs the chorus. To me it sounded so out of place, like when fans to paste it remixes that doesn't sound professional. Know what I mean? The verses on Like Mariah are great, but that chorus just sounds to pieced together.

Like Mariah (49,444) by Stacey from USA
The concept of the song is good. The vocals with each verse were cool, but the use of the sample sounded so out of place to me. It just didn't mesh well, IMO. But, in the end it's nice to see MC get some positive praise from fellow artsts.

With You I'm Born Again (49,417) by Stacey from USA
I love this duet. It's probably my favorite live performance of a non-MC song. I have a good quality mp3 if anyone is interested.

TEOM, YDKWTD/Meteorite (49,385) by Stacey from USA
TEOM: I find it hard to believe as well it's been 10 years since that album was released. It's probably my 2nd favorite album behind Daydream. I remember getting my hands on a 8 minute mashup containing clips of all the songs. Words can't describe how excited I was to hear MC bring back those full voice vocals. I wasn't a big fan of the direction MC was heading with Charmbracelet's whispery vocals. TEOM reminded me so much of Daydream's sound. Stellar album. YDKWTD/Meteorite: So happy to see these songs get more attention here. IMO, they are two of the best songs off an amazing album. YDKWTD had such potential to blow up on radio. I know, I know, it's no good to rehash the lack of promo for this album. Still though, it bugs that MIAM didn't do better. It's her best album since TEOM, IMO.

B, #1s Vegas' era (49,315) by Stacey from USA
B, I sent you the song. Hopefully it's what you are hoping for. Enjoy. I think a new song to promote this era in Vegas is a must. When the original #1s was released, she did a cover of I Still Believe with remixes and all. It gave her a song to use to promote the album, do all the talk shows, etc. When Celine Dion started her Vegas stint, she did an entire album full of new songs. She still, though, had a single I Drove All Night to promote the new album and Vegas show. It just makes sense to me to do that. Shoot, when Celine Dion released her Decade Of Song compilation album with new songs, she promoted the album with a new single That's The Way It Is. The updated #1s album has got to contain 25 tracks. It is her 25th anniversary in the biz. I can't wait to see what MC has up her sleeve.

B, If You Only Knew (49,248) by Stacey from USA
I have a mp3 of If You Only Knew/Somewhere Over The Rainbow if you want it. I can't remember where I got it. Her voice sounds pretty clear in the mp3. You are welcome to it if you want it.

Vegas (49,211) by Stacey from USA
I would hope Mariah would release a CD and DVD of her Vegas show. I attended Celine's Vegas show, and while a DVD is nothing compared to seeing it in person, I still love watching it on TV from time to time. Plus, it's nice to have a live version of the concert on a CD too. I am excited to hear MC revisit some older #1s. For me a absolute favorite #1 of mine is IDWC. I know it's not Mariah's favorite since I think she's only sang it once live on the Daydream tour. Still, it has a haunting melody that sticks. I hope she sings it again and does something different with it. Heck, with her marriage ending, the song might have more relevance now.

Mariah on Ellen (49,207) by Stacey from USA
Wow, she looked great, polished, etc. Thank you to Eric for posting the clip. I hope someone will post the full interview later. I can't wait. I think the whole concept based around her #1 hits is perfect. What a way to celebrate her 25 years in the business. Can you believe it's been that long? Makes me feel old since I was 13 when Vision Of Love was released, lol. I'm sure some critics will say "well she's living in the past". So what? It's time Mariah owns her success and invites her fans who have supported her for 25 years to celebrate that with her. I live 6 hours away from Vegas. You sure can bet I'm going to try and see her. I can't wait. I think basing her Caesars residency around her 18 #1s is perfect. Back when Celine Dion retired for a few years, she released an album called "A Decade of Song". It included her most popular hits and 7 or so newly recorded songs. Mariah has so much material, she could even a double with 25 tracks on each CD. I doubt she'll do a double, but even if she only did one CD, she could do her 18 #1 hits plus add 7 new songs and do that. I honestly would love to see a 25 year album of all her remixes. Put together a tracklist of all the radio edits so you can include more songs like the rare Meme' Butterfly version. Either way, I am excited to see what she has up her sleeve. I am liking this post Nick Mariah. She looks more mature, more polished. It's time she owned her 40-ish age and prove to the people she belongs. She did that back in 2005 with TEOM and here she goes again.

Vegas (49,050) by Stacey from USA
I agree some stability right now would be good for Mariah, and her kids. It's one of the main reasons when Celine came back from her break. She had Rene-Charles at that point. Celine wanted to do her show and come home to her family at night. Seems logical at a time when her personal life is in chaos to try and set up something more stable. If the show is done right with a lot of dancers and theatrics, I can see this doing very well. Remember, Celine is a singer too. She's not exactly dancing around the stage. Her show was very visual with all sorts of things to look at while she sang. Plus, Celine also got very personal with her audience, sitting at the edge of the stage singing If I Could, etc. I can see MC doing the same thing, inviting her fans from all over the world to see her. Gets me excited. She can sing her hits plus put her twist on standards of old. And she can do some Christmas shows too.

Vegas anyone? (49,019) by Stacey from USA
Celine Dion was at her peak in the late 90s with Titanic and of course the hit song MHWGO. She started Vegas in 2003, after a 2 year hiatus. If you remember, she dropped off everyone's radar. To promote her stint in Vegas, she released "A New Day Has Come" and of course titled the Vegas show "A New Day". She used it as an opportunity to sing her classic hits, but also sing other standards. When she returned to Vegas, her show was all about singing songs other than her own. Here's the thing: Celine came back after a break to do Vegas and every single dang show was sold out. Fans of all ages came from all over the world came to see her. If CD can pull off this after being out of the public eye, surely Mariah can do the same thing. Celine's show gave her the opportunity to do other songs. Think about this: we all talk about MC wanting to try jazz or gospel. I would love a show where MC puts her spin on classic songs along with singing her classics. She doesn't have to do a 5 night a week show like Celine or stay as long as Celine did. She could do it for a few months each year. I think if the show is done right, it could be a good thing. Mariah has 25 years of experience to show off. Fans from all over the world would come to see her. Bet on it.

Caesars Palace (48,912) by Stacey from USA
I disagree. I don't think doing some shows from time to time would be admitting defeat. I went to Celine Dion's show during her first run in 2004. It was awesome. Every show was sold out. You had to get tickets fast or you lost out. The key is doing it right. Celine Dion had Fraco Dragon, creator of Cirque du Soleil in charge of the show's direction. If you have the right people, right idea, it can be big. Celine's fans flocked from all over the world to see her in Vegas. Mariah's fans would do the same.

Andrew / Edward / everyone (48,705) by Stacey from USA
Andrew, keep the posts coming. Diversity of thought works best. If people can't handle it, oh well. That's on them. Edward's point about MDJ should be read again. They tried comment boards after each news update. Look what happened. You had people attacking other fans if one dared to post some constructive criticism. It became such a hate fest that MDJ got rid of the boards. How sad. So, I for one am not going to let a few people dictate the conversation or tell me what I can and cannot post. I'll add my thanks to the webmaster for posting all kinds of articles and allowing all viewpoints to be heard. Peace.
