I'm not sure which part of toilet paper you didn't understand. I can't begin to grasp the mentality of the far right MAGA cult that supports Trump. He's a very dangerous person and already denying the upcoming elections results. Democracy is at stake here. It's bigger than you and I, name calling, money, political correctness, self righteousness, etc. There's so much at stake that I'm not worried about how I feel or how I make someone else feel. I don't mince my words and I call it like I see it. Have you seen people wearing a fake bandage on their ear? The cultists will make excuses for Trump that they won't even make for themselves or their loved ones. If it quacks like a cult, and walks like a cult, it's a cult. I get my news from multiple respectable sources, not the Trump media, Fox News and Tik Tok. I've done my research. You don't have to do yours, that's my problem. I'm not here to school you.

I encourage you to read the book "What this comedian said will shock you" written by Bill Maher. He despises Trump. He said this, "'I can't hate you. I've said it a billion times. You can hate Trump, you can't hate all the people who like him. It's half the country.' I'm certainly not blind to Donald Trump's fault. I get it why people choose to vote for him. You know, somebody who's conservative once said to me 'What you don't get, you liberals don't get about Trump is that we don't like it either. We just see him as a bulwark against the nonsense on the left.' And I understand that because there is a lot of nonsense on the left and that's in my book, too."
I share his thoughts because you have every right to call Trump a racist. That's your opinion. But you can't call his supporters racist. That's something I'll always push back on. Maher is simply saying he hates Trump but can't hate his followers. Those are good people. Instead of calling someone a cultist, find out why they support Trump. You might learn something, and in turn that person might learn something from you. Good conversation is severely lacking in today's society.

I will say this and then I think I'll drop it. Trump unites people in hate. He's not a "Christian" and neither are his followers. He hates the same groups that his followers hate, whether it's the blacks, the gays, the trans, the Latinos or anyone that's different. His supporters seem to think that he will eradicate these already marginalized groups, like Hitler did. They can use the excuse about making more money all they want and use the same talking points they hear on Fox News all day long, it doesn't change what's in their heart, hate. Instead of worrying focusing on themselves and leaving their kids generational wealth all their kids will inherit is generational hate. I know because I see it in my own family. Which I gladly don't speak to, bunch of haters. No one is free of sin and no one's sins are greater than others. We are all the same.

If I could like this message more times, I would. And you're right about not getting anywhere arguing with a cultist. A conservative is one thing, but being all in for a proven con artist, sexual predator, misogynist, bigot, ignorant, wannabe authoritarian (did you hear him today asking "Christians" to vote just one more time and they'll never have to vote again? Awful) just because you don't understand how the world economy works, and you don't know your own history, is quite another thing altogether.

I was thinking today if we will finally get an original David Morales collaboration for MC16. Metorite was a pleasant surpirise on MIAM. And Caution could have been a bonus dance track after Portrait. I am just hoping for more original dance/electronic tracks on MC16. I am keeping my fingers cross.

I've learned that there's no arguing with Trump supporters. It's simply not fair to you guys. Everything we need to know is in the statement you've posted. I care more about this our country than taking home a few extra bucks. I'd gladly pay more at the gas pump and at the grocery store for the benefit of the country. I respect your opinions and your beliefs. I don't understand them but I don't have to and I don't want to. Have a nice day.

Thank you. I have dealt with a lot of hate from people who are anti-Trump and just dismiss me as being uneducated and not knowing any better. Working in health care, I actually did better on my 401K, and took home more money with far less inflation than under the current administration. So it's nice to know that among the MC community there is still diversity of thought, and other ideas are still respected.

Album coming soon? (106,934)
by Libra Lamb from USA

I don't get the Taylor Swift hype either. I like a couple of songs, at best. The only thing she's done that I absolutely love her for is endorse Democrats and scaring the crap out of the Republicans by encouraging her followers to register to vote. Her songwriting is great but her voice I find it to be basic. No shade, just my two little cents.

I believe she can still pull it off. Ageism is definitely a real issue in the music industry. We all know MC makes her own rules and doesn't care what anyone thinks. I hope she continues to do just that and that's my only expectation for MC16.

Do you think MC is done with having rappers on her albums? I don't know how she could be taken seriously on her next album with rap features at 55 years old. Duets and vocal features is the way she should go for MC16. If she goes with some rap features, critics are not going to find it a step in the right direction at her age.

Hey C, Mariah Carey has 19 number 1 hits (106,795)
by Libra Lamb from USA

Very well said. If Taylor Swift , Rhianna, Miss Piggy or any other act manages to accomplish this I would be happy for them. It will not, in any way, diminish MC and her team's hard work over the last 34 years. Records are made to be broken anyway. But wether we like it or not, there's very few acts around that can rival MC's career.

Hey C, Mariah Carey has 19 number 1 hits (106,794)
by Shezz from Pk

The way Taylor Swift is going, her momentum and her die hard fan base (that buys half a dozen version of her albums and singles with the slightest variations) she seems to be a hot contender to take over MC's number 1s tally (now at 12). With the chart rules as they are now, it is not as important for the entire general audience to love a song for it to go to number 1. Swifties alone are enough to make her new songs debut at n1 - which used to be such a big feat in the 90s - case in point Fortnight. It's not a great song. 3-4 more albums and she will sadly cross MC's tally and she churns out an album a year.MC's number 1s are a great accomplishment no matter who finds them forgettable and who finds them memorable. I hope she gets to keep it. She loves the title and as a long time fan I love it too. Previously Rihanna was hot on her heels but then she decided to go an extended hiatus.

#1 Relevance, new album (106,793)
by Libra Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I won't speak for others but I'd buy singles for tracks that were not released on the album, mostly imported singles, my intention was never to push a song to chart. Even if I was ever compelled to push a song to chart, I'm impressed that MC convinced enough people, fans or not, to buy her singles and support her songs a total of 19 times, especially if the song was "forgettable". Regardless of how they were obtained, it is not as easy as some people want to make it out to be. Otherwise everyone would have several number 1 hits. Not many acts from 1990 are still around or relevant.

#1 Relevance, new album (106,792)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
Let me hop on in here. I have read in a magazine that only a true fan would know the difference between Fantasy, Honey and Heartbreaker. Also, when I used to argue with Whitney Houston stans in the late 90s/early 00s that yes Whitney is consistent on stage but MC has more number 1s, their argument would be most of MCs are forgotten. If you can find a non-fan that knows all of the words to I Don't Wanna Cry or TGIFY I'd be shocked. I'm from the last generation and I'm also a chart nerd. We pushed a lot of number ones by buying physical singles to albums we already had. The airplay was minimal on her song before the single was released. Hell, we do it now. How many times have I come on here to see people begging us to stay up all night streaming something. Now here's where I completely contradict what I just said. I have had a horrible school year and am leaving my present school. So I've been playing death songs on my smart board. You know, One Sweet Day, Crossroads by Bone Thugs. Well, Bye Bye was playing and the office clerk who is half my age ran into my room and started singing it. I was floored. I said what do you know about this song. She said it's among her favorites. Mine too even [though] this board constantly decimates it because it didn't go to number one. That's an argument for another day. I guess my point is there is truth to both sides of the argument. Songs are over pushed by fans (come on you all Loverboy made it to #2) but then there are factors that make a song more relevant than a chart position shows (come on you all Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun stalled at #2). New album. It's so funny because I feel like everyone wants MC to create SZA, HER and Muni Long vibes. I am thinking [Barbra] Streisand, Liza Minelli, Diana Ross. I don't wanna be ageist but Mariah is 55 years old and you all want her on trends with the hottest producers? I do think MC needs to release an album because her fan base grew up on albums. Cardi B can release singles for years continuously promising she's working on an album. Mariah can't do that, hopping on remixes late is kinda silly. But whatever. Carey-on.

For arguments sake, which of these "new girls" is a true contender for 20 number 1 hits? Since it's such a possibility there should be at least several answers. I'll wait. Don't you guys think that if it was that easy to obtain it, everyone would have multiple number 1 hits? At least use a possible real life situation if you're going to start an argument. I'm sorry but you're coming across as painfully young and naive. Furthermore, I am not here to defend my loyalty and love for the one and only Mariah Carey to you or anyone else. If you don't like it, don't read my posts. There's some posts I scroll right on by when I see the name. I don't stop to ask dumb questions. All dumb questions will be met with stupid answers. Can I ask a real question? What does all of this defense do for you? You have crafted an entire defense that sounds absolutely fantastical. Rainbow 25 (106,769)
by "MariahHater" from Hell

This is my most least spun album of hers. This re release made me drop my jaw on how'd she pulled an album in less than a year with 2 No. 1s.
Totally not my repetitive album but this album slaps so hard. Had new found appreciation with Petals, Rainbow Interlude, Rainbow's End (despite lacking big house vocals).
Living in the 90s might be something I will be pondering all over my life. I really wish to see a Mariah resurgence aside from Christmas.
Excited for Glitter and Charmie 25. I believe she is the only artist that can celebrate her album anniversaries with pride and power because she did this organically.
Some says her number ones are forgettable and I believe not because depending on which continent you are, Mariah has at least 5 unforgettable songs etched into their bloodstream regardless of age group. Yes there are the new pop gurlies out there but nobody ever did something like dem oldies.
Calling and manifesting to the universe to grant thy wish of having to see her number 1 outside Christmas again.

I think what has happened the last couple of years, is that Mariah has had a very good lip synching coach. We all know Celine Dion is the master of lip synching, nobody accuses her of doing it, but we all know she has almost whole concerts with just lip synching.
Mariah is relaxing on stage now, doesn't try to pretend to sing live, just doing the emotions in her face without lifting an eyebrow, and it works, it actually looks like she is singing, it works brilliantly.
The playback is her real curent voice, but to not experience the fear of being caught out, she does that now, I sing it's soothing for her.
And, by the way, Mariah is being seen the heroine in this Jen**fer Lo**z downfall, and that might have something to do with new found respect Mariah is recieving in the world right now. Mariah called out the girl she doesn't know in a very classy way 25 years ago. Karma is a bi**h, isn't it?

Thank you Shezz. I am learning this year to just be me and not worry about seeking acceptance from others.

Favorite Rainbow track (106,731)

So I've been really enjoying this new anniversary edition of Rainbow and the song that stood out the most for it's haunting, sincere lyrics and vulnerability is Petals. I absolutely love this song, though it's always been one of my favorites, lately I can really appreciate how beautiful and real it is. Mariah does her best writing when she dives deep into her personal heartaches and lets the pen flow. The Petals Pound Boys remixes are really good too, it's a shame they were excluded from the MC30 releases. Do you have a new favorite Rainbow track? I know it's hard to pick just one.

I feel the exact same way about everything you said. Solo Mariah is much better.

Honestly, I'm not stoked for a release of the song knowing the back story as to why it never saw the light of day. I'm also never really into her duets or features, since to me those other artists are a distraction. Lol. That's just me though.
