 | | | About Bobby A from United States:
I have been a Lamb since 1990. I know Mariah. I love her music. I breathe her music. |

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | In seventeen days everyone will be talking about MC's new album. I think E=MC2 was the last time MC had an album that was anticipated so much. People will forget all about her not moving during performances very soon. Lol. Her music is going to be front and center on 09/26. (Tuesday 9 September 2025; 19:28)

 | | | | | | | | Yeah it's become a bit of a joke on social media about her not moving. People shouldn't really joke about it if they don't know what's. I guess being honest would shut them down but like you said she isn't going to do that. 26th can't come quick enough. (Tuesday 9 September 2025; 13:23)

| | | | | | | So... thoughts on the VMA performance? (111,046)
by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | I Shazamed every song in the mix and the same results came back not so surprising. There was such a mix of prerecorded and live vocals that Shazam came back with these results.
Big Energy/Obsessed/Honey/Herartbreaker - prerecorded from the Global Citzens Concert

Fantasy ft. Ol' Dirty Bastard - mixed vocal recording with live vocals

We Belong Together - prerecorded, live vocals and the Late Night Valentine Mix - (in my opinion)

 We still love MC.

by Lambi from USA
 | | | | | | | | To the real Lambilies, this was expected. I was honestly just smiling the whole time, I felt like her bestie hyping her up: "Go girl. Project." But yeah, to the casual viewer at home, this probably came off as stale and a little sad to watch, with her age in context. I thought the general public's sentiment would probably be, "It's time to retire." But I checked the YouTube comments, surprisingly passed the vibe check, it sounded like they are openly just accepting Mariah: "Only Mimi could walk across the stage like a robot and make it iconic." "She gives me everything and nothing at the same time, I love it." LMAO.
I know Mariah is mortified of dancing because when she was a little girl, her aunt once used it as a determining factor if she was black or not. (It's so f***ed up) But I wish she could move past that. Heartbreaker-era Mariah doing choreography was so cute. I actually think she's a decent dancer, she has natural rhythm. Obviously not a showstopper but still entertaining to watch. People are accepting of her giving that little now, but maybe she can give a tiny bit more on the stage presence department.

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | MC is going to score big with HFIA. I just feel it. Once people hear Jesus I Do and Mi, the album will have a huge debut on the Billboard 200. Maybe 150K - 200K is more like it. I am going to leave my sales prediction numbers alone now. (Tuesday 9 September 2025; 01:40)

 | | | | | | | | I loved Mariah's camaraderie with Ariana. I'm so glad Mariah changed her attitude towards Ari about three years ago or so. Ariana referring to Mariah as "mother", given the significance of that, it's simply epic and the greatest show of respect. I'm very proud of both of them. I can't effing wait for "HFIA". | | | | | | | | Congratulations MC. I loved the speech and her little plug for her album at the end. Smart move because the VMAs had huge viewership last night. Also so glad that Ariana gave the award to Mariah. Finally someone currently and at the top of their game giving Mariah an award. I saw the speech but anyone has a link to Ariana presenting it? What did she say? I would love it if someone can provide a link or tell me what she said to announce Mariah. (Monday 8 September 2025; 12:11)

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | Do you think we will ever hear the Vision of Love demo version? I am curious to hear it and the other songs on the demo tape. VOL capitvated me the summer of 1990. It was different. It had a gospel feel to it. VOL had some crazy runs and riffs. There was nothing on the radio at the time like it. People were asking who was this girl Mariah Carey. And then we met her on The Arsenio Hall Show and the rest is history. Everything will come full circle on the VMAs. | | | | | | | MC's career defining moments (110,992)
by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | 1. Debut album defined Mariah Carey as a songwriter, producer, hallmark of the style of melisma and ad-libs, use of acoustic and electric guitars, powerful ballads with soulful R&B, and became a superstar within 3 years of her debut
 2. Started the trend of featuring rappers on her songs

 3. First Christmas album was a multiplatinum success

 4. Started the remix singles trend

 5. Blended R&B and hip hop

 6. Created her own label

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | It is going to be really fabulous tomorrow evening for MC to receive the Vanguard Award, and see her perform live on the CBS. It has been reported on X that MC has been rehearsing with her band and her singers for the past two days. I feel that there may be two special guests as part of her award presentation and performance. Tomorrow is going to be huge for MC because Here For It All will be mentioned, heard, and seen throughout the 3 hour awards show. (Sunday 7 September 2025; 00:07)

| | | | | | | Daydream (110,971)
by Lambi from USA
 | | | | | | | | I can see that. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Open Arms, the original, either. Or anyone else who did it. Mariah simply did it the best. In a way, she kind of ruined other artists for me. She gives so much on each song that I simply will not accept that little from anyone.
And yes, One Night and Slipping Away are some of her best works, definitely deserving to be on the album. Anyone who says it doesn't fit the "theme" is full of it because Daydream doesn't have a real cohesive theme to begin with. The songs are all over the place in terms of instrumentation, emotional tone and lyrical content. They're all so random:

 • Fantasy: Romantic escapism
 • UTS: Nostalgic young love
 • OSD: Loss and mourning
 • Open Arms: Longing for reconciliation
 • ABMB: Lasting emotional connection
 • I Am Free: Spiritual liberation
 • When I Saw You: Love at first sight
 • Long Ago: Painful memories
 • Melt Away: Sensual romance
 • Forever: Enduring separation

One Night could easily jive with Underneath The Stars because Mariah would be consistent. You should aspire for a UTS kind of love and not give away your goods. They're cut from the same cloth, just different shades. Slipping Away, a pre-break up emotional detachment song, could easily jive with ABMB, the post-break up song. They're part one and part two of the same story.

They simply weren't included because they sounded too Urban R&B and Tommy didn't want her that direction. But nobody could stop Mariah anyway and she kind of already hit an R&B stride with ABMB. The sound was already shifting. Leaving them off wasn't about cohesion but limiting Mariah. They should've just included them because they would've made the album even stronger.

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | Mariah and her beautiful ballads make me want to fall in love. I wonder will "My Love" be just as beautiful Open Arms. It just might be the MC's interpretation that turns it into a R&B power ballad. (Friday 5 September 2025; 11:24)

| | | | | | | Daydream (110,955)
by Bill from the UK
 | | | | | | | | "Open Arms" is indeed stunning and breath taking in its simplicity and understated beauty. I love the way she made it sound so "Mariah", in that it went from this 80s rock power ballad anthem to a gorgeous moving restrained ballad.
"Slipping Away" is an amazing song, I don't think any will disagree, but I always loved its underground status it had. I agree I'm not sure it would have fitted in with the other tracks on Daydream. As for "One Night", a hard no and a hard pass from me. I was a bit shocked that was a Daydream outtake as it seemed more "E=MC2" to me. Adding it to the album would have detracted from its sophistication in my view.

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | Bill, I think the interview was just an opportunity for MC to connect with the younger generation. Think of the whole conversation as MC stripping back her diva persona, being seen as down to earth, and having fun with a group of college guys. She has been viewed as less of a diva during the past three months. (Friday 5 September 2025; 02:13)

by Bill from the UK
 | | | | | | | | I couldn't watch it because it was so infuriatingly bad. Mariah looked great and I'm sure she represented herself well, but I'm guess I'm out of touch as the host was incoherent and an absolute unprofessional mess as was the others that materialised. I gave up after the Heartbreaker acapella when not one of them knew the word "incessantly". An absolute car crash and way below the standard Mariah should be at. (Friday 5 September 2025; 00:23)

by Edward from USA
 | | | | | | | | Her voice on Daydream is just like butter. Smooth, nuanced, powerful but never too showy. Daydream is pure perfection. In my humble opinion, "Butterfly" is her magnum opus though. That album could've been titled "Metamorphosis". When I saw Mariah on "Honey", so sexy and beutiful, for a moment I questioned my sexuality. (Thursday 4 September 2025; 17:01)

by Bobby A from United States | | | | | | | | I just found a Barry Mann Brown Eyed Woman 45 record today. The song is very souful like Can You Hear Me? Finding his record made me think about the five chosen producers for MC's first two albums. Tommy chose Rhett Lawrence, Narada Michael Walden, Ric Wake, Barry Mann, and Carole King. Why didn't he choose David Foster to collaborate with MC? I wonder what a Mariah Carey and David Foster collaboration would have sounded like in 1990-1992. (Sunday 31 August 2025; 20:20)

Mimi is our Tamron Hall with her great insight and commentary. Zachariah is my best friend now. Edward looks for my Saturday post to refute my claims. Lol.
