About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

Re: "Music Box" (83,572) (83,573) by Bill from the UK
Make It Happen also didn't give any credit for sampling "I Want To Thank You" by Alicia Myers either. Make It Happen uses the exact same backing track, only in a different key.

Re: Music Box songs ranked (83,565) (83,567) by Bill from the UK
Agreed it is a brilliant song. I'm impressed the article picked up it was sung in the "legato" style. This is singing hushed and softly but with force and power behind it and is one of the most difficult techniques to perfect. I think MC even said at some point that it was the hardest song she ever had to sing. I'm glad AYNAF came out as top though. That is my fave from the album too. I went nuts when the completed, non-fade out version surfaced and we had all those beautiful extra vocals towards the end. Then of course there's the mellow Soul Convention Remix and the astounding C&C Club Mix that is up there with Dreamlover Morales Mix, I Still Believe/Pure Imagination and Fantasy ODB as one of her finest ever remixes. That scatting at the end she does makes me feel so good in (high note) siiiiiiide.

So Blessed (83,547) by Bill from the UK
Help me out please. So Blessed. Last chorus. Does she sing an accidental extra syllable on the last "amazingly"? Since all time, I have heard her sing "amazing-ing-ly". I sincerely doubt a perfectionist like Mariah would have done that, but please tell me I'm not alone in hearing this.

Aww. B wouldn't be B without mentioning Bruno Mars or The Weeknd.

Re: You guys (83,503) (83,509) by Bill from the UK
Ha, I do feel excited too. It's a lot different now because I remember back in the 90s you had no idea what was happening until you heard a new song on the radio. I remember in August 1995, sitting on my bedroom floor listening to the radio whilst playing with my rubick's cube (I was, and forever will be, a geek - side note, I can complete one in under 5 minutes lol) and I remember Fantasy came on the radio and I was like "huh, sounds a bit like Mariah" and carried on doing what I was doing. Then at the end as Mariah was ad-libbing over the final chorus, I remember Dr. Fox gushing "what an amazing new single from Mariah Carey" and me spazzing out, squealing, chucking the rubick's cube out of my hands, and diving to the cassette recorder and whacking "record" so hard I bruised my finger. I didn't even care what I was recording over haha. I got the last 30 seconds and played it over and over and over and sat by the radio all day waiting for it to be played again.

Haha, nothing you can say Jade would ever lower my opinion of you. Well, unless you said you preferred the Crapfinity lyrics over (insert any other song here).

Re: people.com (83,496) (83,497) by Bill from the UK
I'm excited about the album of course but her most recent efforts are making me slightly nervous. If there are tracks like Unforgettable and Almost Home, then great. If we have tracks like Infamous, Why You Mad, Crapfinity, Can't Say No and The Star then I think I will cry. I'm not sure what is meant by an "aggressive" sound, but it doesn't sound like we're getting Dreamlover's sequel lol. I really hope MC delivers and she can then finally bow out of this charade with her lagacy in tact. Ish.

I have to say, that pic of Mariah on the staircase is beautiful. She is looking so good lately.

Re: Aretha Franklin (83,382) (83,387) by Bill from the UK
That's true, but also not wishing to disappoint Carole, Mariah instead suggested they collaborate on an original song together and If It's Over was born. Aretha will be greatly missed. Her Amazing Grace album is probably the best record I've ever listened to.

Mariah's always late as it's part of her "brand".

Re: "I Still Believe (Stevie J. Remix)" (83,331) (83,332) by Bill from the UK
I Still Believe has some great remixes. I think the fact the Pure Imagination remix is so brilliant, often means the Stevie J and Morales mixes get overlooked. I’m going to go dig this one out now.

Re: A message for B (83,224) (83,237) by Bill from the UK
Thanks for the reply Randy and for taking the time to list those performances for me. I'll certainly re-watch them all. I do have a question mark over big televised performances though as they are often subject to overdubbing the imperfections. But perhaps that's not fair of me to say that.

Please send me the 100% live performances post 1996 that you enjoy. As I said originally I am genuinely interested in these, because I've yet to come across one.

Re: A message for B (83,214) (83,220) by Bill from the UK
I have watched the Beacon Theatre performances and, like all her live performances of the last 10 years, there is more lipping than actual singing. The Fallon performance was okay, but it wasn't exactly If It's Over at the Grammy's or Hero at London on the Daydream tour. I don't believe she has stage fright. She mentioned she suffered from nerves when she started out, which is understandable. But come on, she's done more performances on stage than I've had hot dinners. I wouldn't say she slayed Can't Let Go either. She got through it, with a backing track kicking in at the end. I've not seen her deliver a decent 100% live performance since 1996. None of us have. She needs to simply stop deceiving all of her fans and either admit the truth of the matter, or sing, write and record within the one octave she has now. The ruination of her voice was all her own doing so she needs to show us the respect and love we show her and be honest with us all.

Re: A message for B (83,200) (83,206) by Bill from the UK
Not necessarily. Mariah can still be a singer, but one with integrity. There was nothing wrong with the song Unforgettable. In fact, it's the best thing she's done for years. That song stayed within the range she has now and wasn't falsified, and was also current and a completely new style. It was so refreshing. And if her voice is gone gone, then maybe it's time she hung up the chaise lounge and concentrated on having what I'm sure would be a very, very successful end career as a songwriter and producer.

You mean this?
(Friday 20 July 2018; 23:53)
Re: Walter A. (83,188) (83,196) by Bill from the UK
There's no evidence anywhere that Walter and Mariah fell out over the direction Butterfly was taking and that Walter and Tommy wanted a sequel (or "squeal") to Daydream. Tommy was the Executive Producer of the record. If he wanted Daydream 2, he would have got it. Walter's contribution to the album was very much in the same gear he's been driving in since he came on the scene. Walter revealed that My All and Whenever You Call were, to his standard at least, unfinished as they stopped working together during the album's creation. Mariah thought the ballads sounded better being sparse and without Walter's "schmaltz". The reason they fell out, which Mariah herself has said, was because during the separation he sided with Tommy. That, and nothing more.
